Summary
There is no such thing as a 'fair world'. Why'd you think Volo was trying to change it? For power? Sure, that may have been one reason, but to change the world to be better was the main goal. As was meeting Arceus, but we all know how THAT went.
Somehow, though, he's now immortal. Great. And now he's also a history teacher who is fed up with his life. Double great.
Lucas, on the other hand, was very much not immortal. He was just Professor Rowan's apprentice trying to learn more about the Pokémon of the past, so he'd decided to meet with a certain history teacher. Finding him was the EASY part in this journey.

You know, there has to be some sort of word for when you wake up one day in the body of a nameless child–baby at that–on the doorstep of an orphanage.
The one I like to use is: irony.
There also has to be another word for mistaking your ‘rebirth’ into another world for a completely different universe.
I actually have a word for it that fits the description perfectly: STUPIDITY.
