    Ochaco is the first to have the guts to move, one of the two flashlights being in her hand as she finally cuts it on and shines it into the hallway.

    A terrible, cold dread rushes through all of them, squeezing the air from their bodies and snatching away their ability to move. Every single one of them feels a deep, instinctual sensation settle down in their guts.

    It’s one that is called to action when something so uncanny is caught by the eye—when something is so close to being human but it’s not.

    What stands in the hallway isn’t human, no. Not at all.

    It’s just shy of one.

    It stands upright, towering above even the likes of Shouto in a way that makes them feel all too diminutive.

    Like prey.
