  The first thing I remember is red, overwhelming my senses. I couldn't tell what was up from down. My skin burnt yet I was freezing. My bones and muscles screamed at me, but I couldn't tell why. My instincts told me to not open my mouth yet I couldn't help letting some red water in.

  I feel hands grabbing me, pulling me up. Or what I assumed at the time as up. I surfaced, taking my first breath. No. Was it my first breath?
