Draco Malfoy thought he was done with twists and turns being hurtled at him. He thought that since Pettigrew was captured, nothing could go wrong. He thought the Quidditch World Cup would be the only disastrous event he'd have to deal with. He thought that the Triwizard Tournament being reinstated was pure luck, as he'd witness it firsthand.
He never once thought that he'd have to worry about Harry's safety again. He never once thought that it would affect him so terribly. He never once thought that Voldemort would return at the end of the term,
He never once thought that he would risk his life for the Boy Who Lived, but what was he meant to do, as his infuriating love for Harry only grew more and more, no matter who he was using to distract himself from the messy, dark-haired boy with electrifying green eyes.
