Summary
In a distant future where humanity is connected by gates across the stars, two main factions have arisen. Worlds which allow slavery and worlds that don't.
Sheila's parents sent her to be trained for slavery when she was very young. She had found happiness with her owner, Foster. Just as she was starting to hope for children, Foster's life was cut short. Sheila was surprised to find she was free and had inherited everything Foster had owned. Before she can start planning how to live her new life, her freedom and everything she has gained are threatened by a powerful conspiracy who may have had a hand in Foster's death.
