Excerpt from prologue -
For centuries it had been thus - four calamities and four famous tales - but some centuries ago, another calamity was born from the fires of that strange mountain.
In the beginning, for the first few years, the list remained unchanged. It was only after the new calamity began to make a name for himself - that the list was revised. And with the addition of another calamity, came the addition of another famous tale for balance.
And so, for the past two, almost three centuries, the fifth famous tale and fifth calamity were known -
The Prince who Sought Peace - the Prince of Yongan, who brought long lasting peace between the people of Yongan and Xianle in the wake of a personal devastating tragedy that wiped out most of the royal family.
And,
Flower Veiled Misfortune - a wanderer in black and red, who wore a smiling mask and a wide black bamboo hat with a long shadowy veil, draped in blood red star jasmine.
