Coulson hummed, "Well, thank you for your cooperation, Tony. Your account has been very illuminating. I just have two more questions for you. What do you think of Iron Man, personally?"
Well…" Tony trailed off, "I think he's trying to help. I think he doesn't want to see innocent people die because of the stupidity or greed of a few men. I… I think he's kinda an asshole, but he's alright. He knows what's right and wrong, and he's trying to do right."
Coulson nodded, "Lastly—" oh thank fuck it was almost over, "—and this is only a formality, but," Coulson leaned towards Tony slightly, in a way that was almost conspiratorial, "are you Iron Man?"
Tony was going to have a fucking heart attack. "No," he smiled, "I am not Iron Man."

The public knows that Iron Man was present at Gulmira, the press thinks he must be a terrorist, and SHIELD has no clue what to make of him. All Tony Stark knows is that being Iron Man would bring bad press, and he's had enough bad press to last the rest of the decade. Oh well, at least he doesn't need to bother with formal permission to enter other countries now, he can just blow up ill-gotten Stark weapons whenever the hell he wants!
