Even if it can't be Roy, his father's health is declining and Ed needs a mate to help him rule Xerxes. The invitations for each alpha suitor are sent, and preparations are complete. He will be mated by dawn, to whoever can manage to catch him.

A voice, calm but authoritative, comes from behind him. Ed’s spine snaps, and his face flushes. Damn, he’s done so well. His touch of bravery was clearly a touch too far. He wonders what a first offence as large as climbing onto the Officer’s bridge will be. Surely, it can’t be that bad.
He turns slowly, taking a step forward, grinning like a fool, because what else is he meant to do? He’d fly off if he could!
“What can I say? Curiosity got the better of me,” Ed chuckles, shrugging his shoulders playfully.
The man, an Officer most likely, appraises him with cool dark eyes, “You are aware of what they said about curiosity, aren’t you?”
“Good job I ain’t a cat then, huh?”
