Summary
In the late 1920's in New Orleans, Charlotte Magne is a down-on-her-luck woman who gets kidnapped by a serial killer named Alastor. Despite his reputation as a relentless and vicious murderer, he finds her to be compelling and develops an obsession with her. He attempts to win her over with his own brand of twisted and manipulative flattery and charm. Despite the odds, he succeeds and the two of them form an unconventional love match, but their family's blood-stained roots will be their ultimate test.

Summary
Jane Shepard survives the gutters of a post‑Contact Earth until a flare of emerging biotics pulls her into a Council‑funded research institute on the Citadel. There she meets Spectre Saren Arterius, the turian legend whose stalled hunt for Dr. Qian’s Prothean relic drives him to other means of staunching humanity's advancement: guardianship of the human prodigy. Through shrewd persuasion, he takes on the orphan as his ward, intent on shaping her into a model Spectre for Council display, even as he grips the unseen reins in his talons.
Saren turns her childhood days into field drills, war‑room simulations, and lessons in diplomatic knife‑work. He controls nearly every aspect of her life, leaving Shepard one private refuge: a risky friendship with hot‑headed cadet Garrus Vakarian — until her almost-father severs that, too. Learning what it means to be a person proves harder than functioning as a tool, yet Shepard can't help but to question her identity. When the long‑silent Reapers finally stir, Shepard must decide whether she is Saren’s instrument, the Alliance’s champion, or something forged in the tight space between obedience and revolt. The galaxy’s stance — kneeling or standing — will turn on her choice.

Summary
An arrangement negotiated between the Hierarchy and the Alliance at the end of the First Contact conflict leads to the placement of twenty human families on the turian colony world of Oma Ker. Among these families is lieutenant Hannah Shepard and her daughter Jane. Growing up surrounded by turians, Jane finds she doesn't truly belong to either world she's a part of: too turian to be fully human and too human to be fully turian. Struggling to find her place, her only comfort is her closest friend, one she's know since her arrival on Oma Ker: Garrus Vakarian. But as the years go by, she begins to see Garrus as more than just a friend. She must learn to navigate the complexities of straddling two worlds, and the new emotions developing for her best friend, while staying true to herself.
Takes place in three acts spanning several years, following Shepard and Garrus' changing relationship.
