Some ideas:
Penelope is the daughter of archibald featherington and Portia featherington who rule a small kingdom in central Europe. She was sent away to the kindgom of central mayfair by her mother during a particularly bad fued of her father against another king.
When she reached central Mayfair she immediately bonded with a few children she met not realising they were the princes and princesses. Penelopes identity is hidden for her safety. She remains there for almost all of her childhood and grows close and becomes best friends with prince colin bridgerton.
When it comes time for colin to marry colin expresses his wish to marry penelope but the entire family goes against it when the archbishop and other ministers become angry seeing as pen was thought to be a commoner.
They insult pen and the family also adds some insults about how she is a mere commoner. Colin does not defend her either(he does a little bit but not enough)
Pen becomes angry and finally returns to her own kingdom. Colin on the other hand goes crazy in sorrow without pen and becomes really angry at his family.
A few months later on pens request her parents arrange a meeting up of a few neighbourhood kingdoms to look for a suitable match for pen. The bridgertons are among that. They think it might be a good way to get colin up and about again. They reach the kingdom and see pen.
They are shocked and feel betrayed. How does colin earn pen back together and how does pen explain never telling them her true identity even after the danger to her safety was no longer a valid concern?
