Summary
Greg doesn’t know when he stopped seeing Petey as the enemy, only that the way Petey holds Li’l Petey makes him stay, even when it hurts.
There was no confession. Just silence.
But in the quiet, Greg realizes: what he feels won’t stay buried forever.
So he collects the small things, Petey asleep on the couch, brushing Lil’ Petey’s hair out of his face, speaking gently when no one’s around.
Because if this ends, and maybe it will, Greg needs to remember that it was real.
