Summary
In medieval Japan, sisters Nanami and Yukiji have always been inseparable after the death of their mother and the abandonment of their father. When their lives are further upended by the destruction of their village, a nobleman takes them in as his own with the promise of a better life filled with opportunities never afforded to them before, but at a price. Wild, dreamer Nanami and tough, cunning Yukiji will have to adapt to the rules of society.
Struggling with his rampaging partner, Akura-Ou, a kitsune by the name of Tomoe thinks it is high time he take his rightful place as King of Demons. When his and Nanami’s paths cross he pursues her in secret, and offers her a life beyond her wildest dreams as Queen of Demons in exchange for her fealty and commitment. A sweet deal, but it will cost her the most precious thing in her life: her relationship with Yukiji, who hates yokai more than anything.
With a celestial war brewing and the world in turmoil, Nanami must find her place within it all or die trying.
