Summary
Kaz leans against the counter of plywood pretending to be oak, his elbow obnoxiously right by the open logbook. Their eyes meet and her stare comes alive, bright like a firework in the night. She tries to hide it, but he can see it anyway. Can see the dark cherry blush blooming on her cheeks and the sweet hitch of her breath. And this tiny smile, just for him, for him only.

Summary
Following a terrible car accident three years ago, Kaz Brekker's wildly popular book series remains unfinished. The good people at Bloch & Sternbach have cut him a generous advance on the fourth and final book, but actually writing the damn thing has become the bane of Kaz's existence. As a way to help himself get focused and start again, he books himself an extended stay at a local hotel for a personal retreat.
At check-in, he meets the beautiful and charming desk agent Inej Ghafa, who immediately leaves an impression on him. The point of this trip is obviously not to find reasons to talk to her, but Kaz soon finds himself doing just that.
A story about finding creativity and connection again after a long period of grief and loss.

Summary
A shadow appeared on the far side of the room, so quiet that for a moment it could have been part of the dark. Then she stepped into the pale light of the holoscreen.
A girl. No—not a girl. A weapon.
Her knives glinted like captured stars. Her clothing was a blend of stealth tech and handwoven fabric, soft enough to muffle every movement. Her dark hair was braided back, her face carved from shadow and firelight. Her eyes — deep, endless — were the sharpest blades in the room.
"Kaz Brekker," she said, her voice calm, measured. "You’re coming with me."
