    They won if you ignore what they lost. Lucifer was cast out and the Darkness departed, but they couldn't save Cas. So Dean gave up. With the passage of time and Sam's support, Dean makes a life for himself miles away from hunting and anything supernatural. He runs a planetarium and teaches classes on astronomy, because once, long ago, Cas told him that when the ancient heroes fell, mankind could still find them in the stars.
