Whiteout knows she is a background character in the story her brother tells; observer of his little celestial game with other dragons. And she knows one day the game will end, everything burns, and it's over. Sole winner of checkers match she didn't even want to play. Least she could do is have complicated feelings on the matter.

She doesn't remember much from her hatching, but she makes an important choice back then, some possible futures fading to dust, new ones emerging instead of them. Snake changing its turn. Even if she doesn't want to, she will hold the burden of so much power, even if it eats her.

Every Day is the same for full-grown Grayfur, baggage of its youth carried all over the body in the form of many nasty scars. Sure, the activities might be different, but they all blur together, creating one mushy experience that is constant and unchanging. Maybe one day it will break out, but for now Grayfur is much too tired for that.
