A pale hand lingered in the peripheral of her vision. Vigdis knew that hand—knew its slender fingers and its cold, soft skin. She could feel it brushing her freckled cheek and raking through her fiery hair, welcoming its frozen sting.
Yet dark blood soon pooled beneath it. The vampire’s perfectly statuesque hand became bloated and decayed. The rotten stench saturated her lungs—and she couldn’t breathe. Vigdis inhaled—
