Summary
Draco Malfoy suffers from a rare, progressive curse that no one has been able to break. His magic weakens, his body fails, and the best specialists helplessly throw up their hands. The prognosis is merciless: one year to live, perhaps less.
Hermione Granger, one of the best in her field, a specialist in hopeless cases, is asked for a consultation. Reluctantly, she agrees to take on the assignment, which at first seems like just another difficult case.
But this curse doesn't fit any known classification. Neither does the patient himself—surprisingly likable, intelligent, at times disarmingly normal.
