Work Text:

It was the end of the day. School had just ended, so Izuku, Ochako, and Iida were leaving together to go hang out and get something to eat. Aizawa watched his soulmate go with amusement shining in his eyes as the teen rambled on about this new hero he saw, his friends listening closely to what he was saying. God his mate was so cute it was criminal. The only way Izuku could get cuter was if he suddenly gained cat ears and a tail and nyaed. Little did the pro know, he was going to get his wish, just not in the way he expected.

With Izuku

Izuku and his classmates left the school and were walking to get the train downtown. They were now talking about their latest hero exercise and what they could be doing better in the future. This was something they did often afterschool as it allowed them to hear the opinions of others. Sometimes the others would join them, but today it was just them. As they headed to the station, a scream echoed in the air. The three heroes-in-training went into defensive mode.

What and where did that come from?

It was Iida who pointed it out, “Over there! There seems to be a villain holding someone hostage!”

“What should we do,” asked Ochako.

Izuku didn’t respond, but started to run over, ignoring his friends’ cries. Yes, he knew that this was a bad idea, but taking in where the attack was and how far any mode of public transportation was, it would be a while before any pros show up. Plus, he didn’t really need to use his quirk, as he always had his capture weapons wrapped around his arms. Once he reached the area where the scream came from, he saw the villain holding a young woman hostage. The teen growled and was quick to unleash his capture weapon to grab something nearby and tug it so it slammed into the villain’s head, forcing him to release the woman.

“Get out of here now,” he shouted.

The woman nodded and was quick to escape. The villain turned his gaze onto Izuku and grimaced.

“Shit. You’re just a kid,” said the villain, “I won’t fight you because I don’t believe in hurting children, but I can’t let you catch me. Sorry about this. Nothing personal.”

Iida and Ochako reached the area just in time to see Izuku get surrounded by bright light.

“Deku/Midoriya,” they shouted.

Ochako then tried to touch the villain, but he apparently also had a speed quirk, and avoided her completely. Iida tried to use his quirk to catch the villain, but the villain was much more experienced than he was at speed, so he got away, leaving the two in the dust.

It was quiet for several minutes.

Then the two remembered seeing their friend being engulfed by light.

“Oh no. Where’s Deku,” exclaimed Ochako.

Iida replied, “I don not know.”

“Deku!”

The two began to search. It wasn’t long before they found a pile of clothes, shoes, and a backpack that were very familiar. They belonged to Izuku. Where was he though?

Ochako began to cry, “What do we do Iida?! Deku… Deku’s gone! Aizawa is going to kill us!”

Iida tried to calm his distressed friend down, “It will be okay Uraraka. He may not be dead. After all, we do not know what happened when he got hit with that light.”

Ochako tried to cheer up, but she was still stressed and nervous.

Just then, a sound was heard that made her stop sobbing.

“Hey Iida? Did you just hear that?”

“Hear what?”

The sound rang out again, this time closer than it was before.

“Yes. I did. What is it?”

Ochako was about to answer when she let out a yelp of pain. Something was scratching her ankle!

“Uraraka! Are you alright,” questioned Iida.

“I’m fine. Something just attacked me though.”

The brunette looked down and saw… a green kitten?

The kitten looked up at her, meowing. The kitten’s eyes were big and green, a very familiar shade of green. Those eyes… they were-

“Deku? Is that you?”

The feline meowed as if answering the question.

Ochako did not know what to do. Neither did Iida, who was also staring in shock. Their friend had been turned into a kitten. Oh shit.

It was then the situation hit them.

Ochako was quick to scoop Izuku up in her arms, “Grab his stuff Iida! We need to get back to UA now! The teachers need to know about this!”

Iida nodded and picked up Izuku’s things before joining his classmate in running back to UA. This was not going to be fun explaining this. Not fun at all, especially to Izuku’s soulmate.

Meanwhile back at UA

All the staff was in a meeting right now, Nedzu wanting their latest reports on how their classes were doing. By this point, Aizawa was just begging for anything to happen to end this boring event.

Wish granted.

Out of nowhere, the door to the conference room slammed open, two of his students running in.

“Aizawa-sensei!”

All the teachers were startled, Hizashi actually jumping, which led to his seat tipping backwards and him hitting the floor.

Shit. Not what he wanted.

The teacher stared at his students, which he noticed were Iida Tenya and Uraraka Ochako. Izuku though, was nowhere to be seen.

“Okay. What happened now? I swear if that problem child got into trouble again I am giving him detention for a month.”

The other teachers sweat dropped.

Iida bravely spoke first, “I am sorry for interrupting your meeting sensei! But on our way home we encountered a villain...-“

Aizawa instantly became concerned, “Are you both alright? Is Midoriya okay as well?”

“Ummm,” Iida said, “About that… Midoriya… well… the villain… uhhh.”

Ochako finally spoke up, frantically shoving something in his face, “He turned Deku into this!”

Everyone was silent.

Ochako had just shoved a green kitten into Aizawa’s face. Aizawa stared in shock.

It was silent for a while, everyone nervous. Nedzu leaned forward in his seat, waiting to see what would happen.

Another minute went by, before Izuku decided to do something only he would dare to do.

He reached out with a tiny paw… And bopped Aizawa on the nose, letting out a tiny meow as he did so.

That did it. Aizawa was quick to snatch him, holding him close as he glared at his students, who shrunk under his gaze.

“Are you telling me that the three of you ran into a villain and instead of calling for backup, went up against the villain, which resulted in the villain using his quirk on MY soulmate and turning him into a kitten?”

The two students began to sweat as they slowly nodded. He glared harder.

“You two better hope that this transformation isn’t permanent, or there will be trouble, am I understood?”

The two frantically nodded.

“Good. The both of you have detention for three days for stupidly running into a situation you knew you weren’t qualified to handle. I also expect a fifteen-page essay on what you could have done instead of jumping in and the results of those decisions. That will be due next week is that clear?”

Again, they nodded.

“Good. Now get out before I do something I will regret.”

The two were quick to flee, not wanting to anger their teacher even more. Iida left Izuku’s things by the door as he left. It wasn’t long before they were out of sight.

Once they were, Aizawa felt the anger in him go away. He looked down at his soulmate, who was mewling and batting at the end of his capture weapon. He sighed and gently held him up to his face.

“Don’t think you are not in trouble you little rascal. You most likely were the first one to jump in. We’ll deal with that though once you turn back.”

Izuku mewled again, as if he understood what he was saying. He then bopped Aizawa on the nose again.

Everyone couldn’t help but coo. Izuku was adorable.

Aizawa sighed again and turned to Nedzu, “I’m sorry Nedzu, but I am afraid I will have to leave. I will need to get some more supplies for Izuku until he turns back, and will need to call the police to report this incident and to be on the look out for the villain who apparently has the ability to turn people into animals.”

Nedzu nodded, “But of course Aizawa. If you require a few days off, don’t hesitate to take them. After all, your soulmate did just get turned into a kitten. By the way. Before you go, could you bring him over here?”

Aizawa was confused but did so anyway. Izuku stared at Nedzu, curious as the principal reached out and gently patted his head. Izuku let out a purr, enjoying the attention. Nedzu laughed and then gently shooed Aizawa to the door.

Aizawa made sure to grab Izuku’s stuff before leaving. Izuku by now was once again batting at his capture weapon, entertaining himself. Aizawa smiled and lifted him to his face and gently rubbed their noses together. Izuku mewled and gave a small lick to the nose in front of him, making Aizawa smile more. His mate was simply too cute.

Later at home

Aizawa sighed in relief when he finally got home, arms filled with extra cat supplies he needed for Izuku. As he entered, his other three cats were quick to run up to him, happy he was home. It was Sora who noticed the new member of the house. She meowed in confusion. Aizawa smiled and placed Izuku down so the other cats could greet him.

Izuku was nervous at first as the three older cats sniffed him, wondering why his scent was so familiar. Sora decided she didn’t care and gently picked him up by the scruff of his neck in her mouth and walked over to her bed where she placed him down. She then laid down and kept him between her front paws. From there, she proceeded to give him a bath, licking his fur to clean him. Izuku mewled in protest before relaxing, the licking creating a soothing sensation for him.

Aizawa just laughed before walking over to the kitchen to put the food away. He would let his cats have his kitten of a soulmate for now. As he took out the food, he noticed the item at the bottom of the bag. He smirked. He got it on a whim, but decided that now was the perfect time to finally fulfill that little inside joke between the two of them.

“Izuku,” he called out.

Izuku’s ears perked up as he heard that voice that sounded very familiar to him call his name. He shot up and away from Sora, who made an unimpressed sound. She was not done cleaning him yet. Izuku ran as fast as his little legs could carry him to the kitchen, where the big dark man stood. Izuku pawed at his leg and mewled, wanting to be picked up. Aizawa bent down and scooped him up, petting his ears as he did. Izuku let out mewls of happiness.

“Now you really are a kitten, aren’t you Izuku? All those times we joked about it, and it came true.”

Izuku stared up at him, big green eyes filled with curiosity. Aizawa smiled and nuzzled him quickly before setting the kitten down on the counter. He picked up the item, a pretty black cat collar with a satin green bow that had a small fake pearl in the middle of it. Underneath the pearl was a silver bell. It was perfect for Izuku. He gently placed it around the kitten’s neck, making sure it was not too tight, before turning him around, taking his phone out to take a few pictures. Inko would love to see this, but right now she was unavailable, currently on a business trip and wouldn’t be back for about a few weeks.

Izuku mewled, shaking himself out, causing the bell to jingle. So fucking cute.

Aizawa picked the kitten up and placed him down, or at least tried to as Izuku refused to let go of his sleeve. The kitten mewled in protest, not wanting to leave him. Aizawa sighed softly but had a look of love on his face, or at least as close as he could get to it. He picked his soulmate up again and placed him on his shoulder, the kitten purring and snuggling against his neck, happy to be close to him. Aizawa had a feeling that Izuku was going to be very clingy during his time as a kitten.

As it turns out, he was correct.

For the next few days, Izuku followed him everywhere, except to the bathroom. When Aizawa went on patrol, Izuku refused to let go of his capture weapon and would mewl until Aizawa sighed and picked him up, placing him under the scarves and taking him with him. Every night Izuku would curl up on the bed against his neck, purring softly. Aizawa only put the collar on Izuku when they were going out, because he frankly had no idea when he was turning back, if he ever would. Every time they went out, Aizawa would check in with the police in hopes that they caught the villain. They have not yet.

As Sunday came to an end, Aizawa wondered what he would do. Izuku clearly would try to come with him to school, but he didn’t know if that was a good idea. He sighed and just decided that he would wait until tomorrow to decided.

When Monday morning came, he ended up bringing Izuku with him. His soulmate apparently hopped into his bag without him noticing and it wasn’t until he got to UA that he saw that Izuku was with him. The other pros all cooed over the adorable cinnamon bun turned kitten. Izuku didn’t know what to do and panicked, running over and climbing up Aizawa like a tree. Aizawa stared at him before sighing and gently scratching him behind the ears, soothing the ruffled kitten. Izuku relaxed and snuggled close. Silently Aizawa wondered how much longer Izuku would remain like this.

Those feelings of worriedness became amusement when he entered the class, everyone shocked at seeing the green kitten on his shoulder. Iida and Uraraka flinched, the teacher’s smirk growing. It was clear that those two were still scared of him. Good. Izuku mewled.

As the day progressed, Izuku would doze off here and there, somehow remaining on his shoulder the entire time. He would get weird looks from the students as he walked down the halls. He paid them no mind.

For most of the day, Izuku was well behaved.

Until hero practice happened.

Aizawa went to watch his class as usual, wanting to make sure they were all making progress. It was a combination of save the civilian and fighting off the villain. There were three two heroes, two villains and one classmate acting as the civilian. Right now Tsuyu and Tokoyami were the villains and Bakugou and Yaoyorozu were the heroes. Uraraka was playing the civilian. So far it was going okay. Then everything went to hell. Honestly placing the exploding problem child with the girl who had self-confidence issues and had trouble asserting herself was not the best idea.

Yaoyorozu tried to make a suggestion to Bakugou as to what they should do, and the blonde snapped, lashing out in anger, saying he didn’t need her worthless support. Poor girl looked like she was about to cry.

That was when Izuku got involved.

The kitten let out a fearsome war cry (nah it was an angry mewl that was too cute to sound scary or threatening) and jumped off Aizawa’s shoulder and ran across the field to where the two acting heroes were. He leapt off the ground, climbed Bakugou’s outfit, got on top of his head, and proceeded to scratch the hell out of his face, hissing angrily as he did. Bakugou let out a yell of rage and tried to get Izuku off him, but the kitten had a strong grip on his hair.

Just when Bakugou was about to use his quirk on the kitten, he found himself wrapped up in his teacher’s scarves (again) and the kitten was plucked from his head. Aizawa stood before them with a looking asking if they (Yaoyorozu) were okay and a look of disappointment directed at Bakugou.

“The whole point of this exercise is to work together with your partner and save the civilian Bakugou. Since you went off on your partner for no reason other than she suggesting a plan that would actually work, I believe you deserved having your face scratched up. Now go get changed. You’re out for the rest of the exercise.”

With that the teacher unwrapped him and walked away, carrying a very satisfied kitten. The one time Izuku has the courage to stand up to Bakugou was when he was a kitten. Why couldn’t he be like this when he was human?

When the day ended, Izuku was tired out and fast asleep, being held by Aizawa. The older man looked down and smiled at his soulmate. After all the excitement today, the kitten was completely worn out and was going to sleep through the night soundly. Aizawa then packed up his stuff and checked out, waving to the others. Hizashi quickly called out that he would check up with police about the villain. Aizawa nodded and left, carrying his tired mate in his arms.

Once they got home, Aizawa placed Izuku down on his bed, surrounding the young mate with his capture weapon. Izuku mewled in his sleep, snuggling down. Aizawa smiled and leaned down to press a soft kiss to his forehead. He then left and got ready for bed. The older man would not let it show, but he was worried that his soulmate would never turn back to human. What would he do then? The pro shook his head. Now was not the time to worry. His little mate needed him right now. With that the older mate walked out and headed to bed. He laid down next to his little kitten mate. He tucked himself and Izuku in under the covers and soon fell asleep.

The next morning

When Aizawa woke up the next morning, he felt fine as usual. The only thing was that he wasn’t feeling the usual warmth of Izuku curled up against his neck. He looked over and saw his mate was still asleep, his curly hair all messed up due to bed head, his mouth slightly open, breathing deeply in sleep. Okay. So Izuku was human again and okay.

Wait a minute!

The older man’s head snapped back to his mate. Izuku was human. Holy shit when did that happen?

Just when he was about to shake Izuku awake, the door to his bedroom slammed open, and in came Hizashi.

“Shouta! Great news buddy! The police have caught the villain! Turns out that the quirk he used to turn Izuku into a kitten is only temporary and wears off in a few days! Isn’t that great!”

Aizawa was going to murder the blonde pro. It has to be a crime to be that fucking hyper in the morning.

He snarled out sarcastically, “Gee thanks you little shit.”

Hizashi smiled and sung out, “Noooooooo problem!”

“Kind of wished you told me this sooner, as Izuku has already turned back you fucking idiot!”

Hizashi looked over and noticed the familiar hairstyle of his precious cinnamon bun son.

By this point, Izuku woke up, the noise tearing through his sleep. He sat up, not realizing he wasn’t wearing a shirt. He stared at the two pros, confused as hell.

Hizashi then leapt at him and dragged the poor confused boy into a hug, “My sweet, sweet boy! You are back!!! I missed you so much!!”

Izuku, though confused, hugged his papa back, wondering what the heck was going on.

Aizawa snarled and kicked Hizashi hard in the stomach, shoving him away and pulling Izuku against him. It was pretty obvious to see that Izuku wasn’t wearing any clothes and that made Aizawa more possessive, not wanting anyone to see his mate without clothes. Only he had the right to do that.

Hizashi whined, “Why did you do that Shouta?! Why?!”

“Get out before I physically kick you out the window you damn idiot.”

Hizashi pouted but saw Aizawa holding a sleepy Izuku possessively and nodded, leaving the two alone. He only wanted to hug his son!

Once the blonde pro left the house, Aizawa loosened his grip on Izuku, but not fully letting go.

Izuku, once he got his bearings, remembered everything that happened up to the point where he was turned into a kitten. He blushed in shame. He must of caused his mate so much trouble.

He decided to apologize, “I’m sorry Shouta. I must have caused you a lot of trouble.”

Aizawa sighed and pressed a kiss to his temple, “It’s okay Izuku. Just next time, call me before you do something like that again okay? I was worried that I would never get you back.”

Izuku, confused, smiled and burrowed deeper into the embrace. His mate was really warm. Aizawa smiled and leaned down to press a kiss to Izuku’s lips. Izuku giggled and returned the kiss. They ended up lying down again, Aizawa on top of Izuku. They kissed a few more times before Aizawa moved down to the teen’s neck, nuzzling and kissing it. God did he miss doing this. Izuku let out another giggle before relaxing.

Once Aizawa was done with his neck, the man moved down to rest his head on Izuku’s chest, listening to his heartbeat. Hearing reaffirmed the fact that his mate was back. He smiled. He was glad he was.

They laid like that for a few more minutes before Aizawa smirked.

“You do realize you have no clothes on under the blanket right?”

Izuku let out a yelp and blushed, “Shouta!”

Izuku shoved him off and grabbed one of Aizawa’s sweaters to shove on. Aizawa let out a sound of disappointment. Izuku blushed more.

Such was a normal day in their lives together. Just wait until Izuku saw the photos of him as a kitten wearing a collar.

Notes:

Izuku is adorable I swear to god.

Here is the web address to the cat collar he wore.
