Chapter Text
AN: This story may be triggering. In this chapter, it doesn't specifically say anything but future chapters will. If you think you may be triggered, please do not read. Also, Jimin is seventeen in this which is above the age of consent but some people may be uncomfortable with that. I put the underage warning because the tags of past abuse happened when he was a child. Please stay safe, and enjoy
It wasn’t unheard of for multiple Alphas to share a dorm. Usually, it was two or three Alphas and a couple Betas.
Six Alphas sharing an apartment was not normal, but they worked together so well, they rarely ever had problems.
They invested in an apartment a couple blocks away from their university after all of the campus housing was filled up. At first, they were apprehensive about so many Alphas being in such close quarters, but they quickly became close.
They each had their own room with an extra walk-in closet that was big enough to hold a bed and some cabinets in case a visiting guest wanted to stay over. They were thinking about adding another roommate to lower the cost each of them paid for rent, but they were all fairly well off and didn’t really need to worry about the extra money.
Pros of having rich families even if they sometimes felt guilty for accepting money when they wanted to earn it themselves. That’s why several of them had jobs and paid for personal stuff by themselves.
With the two oldest being college seniors, two others being juniors, and the two youngest being sophomores, they were already beginning to set up payments to make the apartment a permanent residence, as they enjoyed each other’s company.
They had no romantic feelings towards one another, it was strictly platonic, but many of them openly expressed their sexuality after learning how accepting the others were.
They cared for each other deeply, and the gender of whoever they choose to be with had no impact on the way they felt for one another.
When the two youngest Alphas began to act (and smell) anxious, the elders knew something was up.
Jin, Namjoon, Hoseok, and Yoongi walked through the campus heading towards their apartment. They had morning classes three days a week and finished around the same time. Intent on catching up on sleep, they were surprised to see the two younger Alphas standing near the large water fountain.
They knew Jeongguk and Taehyung had afternoon classes; classes that started in less than ten minutes. Walking towards the two, ready to scold, Jin paused when he saw a small figure sat on the ledge between the two standing Alphas.
Noticing Jin's hesitation, the others stepped forward, eyebrows raising at the tiny body. Even from as far away as they were, it was clear the person was an Omega.
With a campus of 13,000 students, they knew there were only about 100 Omegas. Making up around ten percent of the total world population, Omegas were a rare sight, especially ones who went to college. Very few ever had a chance to graduate high school, let alone continue their education unless it was to become a teacher, nurse, or secretary.
The typical Omega jobs.
Even with the push to improve Omega rights, they were still one of the most oppressed minorities. Most had been killed or sold to Alphas to bear children in the early 1900's, very nearly wiping them out of existence.
Feeling very strongly about Omega rights after having a family friend killed in a hate crime, Jin joined a college group that was open to all students and teachers alike, regardless of gender, race, or sexuality. He managed to convince the other roommates to join after weeks of pestering.
Noticing the older Alphas, Tae excused himself from whatever conversation the three had been engaged in. He approached them with obvious anxiety, shifting his weight from foot to foot as he stood in front of them.
"Uh, so... we have a bit of a problem," he said, avoiding looking at them.
"What?" Hoseok asked, eyes not leaving the Omega across the courtyard.
Tae nodded his head towards the two, "that's our friend. He was just accepted here even though school started a couple weeks ago. The issue is, he has no place to go. The dorms are filled up, and we don't want him having to room with people he might not be safe with." He paused before blurting out, "we were wondering if it was okay to let him use the spare room. It's the perfect place for him. He doesn't need a lot of space an-"
He was cut off by Namjoon raising his hand to quiet him. "You want an Omega, to dorm with six Alphas?" Yoongi asked, incredulously.
"He's not like normal Omegas. He can handle himself, he's grown up around Alphas. We've known him for years," Tae said. He and Jeongguk had come from the same school, so it didn't surprise them to hear that.
"How old is he?" Jin asked, "he doesn't look old enough to be in college."
"He just turned seventeen a couple weeks ago," Tae said. He continued when he saw the confused faces, "he was moved up a grade in high school and took classes during the summer, so he had more than enough credits to graduate a few days ago. He got a full scholarship here," he said, voice filled with pride.
"Wow," Hoseok said, impressed.
"Please, just give him a chance. If you're not comfortable with it within a couple days, Jeongguk and I will find him another place," in a saddened tone, he continued, "he lost all of his stuff in a fire two days ago. He has nothing left, no belongings whatsoever. He's wearing clothes from a homeless shelter."
That pulled at Namjoon's heartstrings. Something similar happened to a close friend of his, and he had seen the devastation it caused when a person lost everything they had.
Before they could say anything, Namjoon said, "can you introduce us?" Tae's face almost split with his big smile.
He led them over to the two. Slightly worried the Omega would be intimidated by four unknown Alphas approaching him, they walked slowly and spread apart.
If the boy was scared, he showed no sign of it. He hopped off the ledge he was sitting on and gave a polite bow. It wasn't the typical bow an Omega gave an Alpha. It was the bow meant for a younger person to greet an older person respectfully.
It made Yoongi like him almost immediately. He always favoured people who strayed from stereotypes and norms. They were far more interesting than average people.
It took a moment before they realised they had seen him before. It was from Jeongguk's phone background which showed a little boy balancing on a log high in the air while Tae reached up, holding his hand to keep him steady.
The boy's hair had been a dark brown, but it was now a light pink. His cheeks were still round, lips full and soft looking. The sweater he wore was grey, faded and worn, so thin it could be debated about whether it should be classified as a 'sweater' while his sweatpants were black and far too loose. Even in such horrible clothing, he still looked pretty.
"This is Jimin," Tae said, placing a hand on the small of the tiny boy's back. He was so short, he barely reached the height of YOONGI'S collarbone.
One by one they introduced themselves, surprised by how at-ease the teen looked despite being surrounded by adult male Alphas.
"Don't be mad, but Tae and I have classes starting in about a minute," Jeongguk said a bit sheepishly.
"Jimin, have you been around the city?" Jin asked.
"Not yet," Jimin said, his voice high and gentle with an accent that led them to believe he was from Busan.
"I have no more classes for the rest of the day," Jin said, "would you like me to show you around, maybe get you some new clothes?"
Hoseok felt his heart melt as the boy's eyes turned to crescents in the most adorable smile he had ever seen. "Yes, please," Jimin said, nodding his head.
Tae and Jeongguk gave him a quick hug before they started jogging across the courtyard. "Please, behave!" Tae shouted over his shoulder.
"Of course, I will!" Jin shouted back, slightly offended.
"We were talking to Jimin!" Jeongguk yelled, grinning.
Jimin let out the cutest giggle ever, and Yoongi decided it was now his duty to do everything in his power just to hear that angelic sound again.
All thoughts of sleep disappeared, and in the end, all of them chose to join the two.
It took less than ten minutes for them to fall in love with the teen. They took him to their favourite places, watching as Jimin looked around in fascination. Jin was overjoyed to find the Omega had a similar sense of humour, laughing at his infamously bad jokes.
They brought him to one of their favourite restaurants, giving suggestions on the best things to order.
As they waited for their food to arrive, Namjoon asked him what he was studying, and they were once again reminded of just how different Jimin was. "I'm doing a dual major in dance and criminal justice, and minoring in music," he said.
Yoongi nearly choked on his drink. "Wait, wait, wait. Did you just say criminal justice?" Hoseok thought he might have misheard until Jimin nodded.
"I want to help pass acts to improve the living standards in orphanages and get more thorough background checks for potential adopters," he said.
They gaped at him, shocked into silence. They'd never encountered an Omega who chose such a field. Jimin seemed to think that he might have just offended them. He was well aware that many people were against the idea of an Omega being anything other than a child bearer, and worried he had upset them.
He bit his lip, hoping he hadn't made them mad. He felt like crying, he liked them so much, he didn't want to ruin everything. He managed to keep himself from tearing up though. Years of having to act in a certain way to avoid trouble had taught him how to hide his emotions fairly well.
There was nothing he could do to hide the blush on his face when Jin said, "that's amazing," completely awe-struck.
It took them all a moment to recover from the shock of it as the server arrived at their table, placing their dishes in front of them. They asked him about his class schedule and were pleased to find out they shared many of them.
He had dance with Hoseok, music with Yoongi, calculus with Namjoon, but had world history the class right after Jin, which bummed out the oldest, but it meant they would still cross paths. His criminal justice class was later in the day, instead of the normal hour and a half, the class ran two and a half hours.
Namjoon couldn't help cringe internally thinking about the massive loads of homework the boy was bound to endure.
Jimin got very quiet when they asked why he chose that form of criminal justice specifically. It appeared to be a touchy subject as he hesitated before answering, "Not enough people care about kids in the System. They don't pay attention to the kind of things that happen there. Even if they do notice, they rarely do anything."
He seemed to be holding back in his answer. The happy glow around the boy had faded and everything in the world seemed wrong. It felt like nothing else mattered other than to make him happy again.
Disregarding their curiosity as to why Jimin seemed to have such a personal connection, they did everything possible to lift his mood. It didn't take long to make his smile return, though not as bright at first. After some bad Jin jokes and music references by Yoongi, the teen's aura lit up again and the world was righted once more.
After eating, they walked around some more, explaining the history behind some of the older buildings. At some point, Jimin started shivering. It wasn't an extremely cold day despite it being mid-November, but they were aware Omegas were more "temperature sensitive" than others.
Without thinking, Namjoon wrapped an arm around him, pulling him close to keep him warm. Realising what he did, he expected the teen to pull away but instead, the boy snuggled closer to him.
They decided it was a good time to take him to some stores to get clothes. They smiled fondly as Jimin immediately gravitated to soft, pastel colours. When he went to try stuff on, they managed to convince him to show off to them.
Min Yoongi, the King of Stone Face, nearly squealed at the adorableness of the Omega when he stepped out in an oversized baby blue sweater and faded grey skinny jeans. Hoseok, on the other hand, did nothing to control himself.
"JIMINIE, YOU'RE SO CUTE, AAAAAAHHHH," he shouted, almost sliding off his seat.
Jimin covered his blushing face with his tiny hands, which just made him even cuter in Jin's opinion. Namjoon was the first one to pull himself together (mostly because he wanted to see Jimin in all the pretty things he picked.) "Try some more stuff on," he said, grinning as the boy scuttled back into the dressing room.
His next outfit was a light lavender button up that sinched at the middle, bringing attention to his tiny waist while the light blue, cloud patterned skinny jeans showed off his wide hips. He twirled when Yoongi gestured with his hand, and the Alphas had to force themselves not to stare at Jimin's perfectly rounded ass.
There was no denying, Jimin was a creature of beauty.
Everything he tried on, he looked pretty in. It took a very sudden turn when he came out in ripped black skinny jeans and a tight black long sleeved shirt that had was completely open along the sides except for the crisscrossed laces that held it together.
It was as if the little baby Jimin they had been with all day took a total 180 as the outfits became more provocative, showing lots of soft, smooth skin. The urge to claim and mark Jimin as their own began to grow. Just when the Alphas felt their self-control was on the verge of slipping, he returned with the ratty outfit he had worn, to begin with.
Jimin asked which ones they liked the best to which they responded with, "everything."
He protested loudly when the group decided to buy everything he tried on which was about nine outfits and two pairs of shoes (one of them were pastel pink Converse and just too cute to let go.)
To quiet the boy, Namjoon turned and said, "Jiminie, we have more than enough money. Please, don't worry about this. Let us do this for you."
He bit his lip, driving the Alphas crazy as he internally debated whether or not to let it happen but Jin and Yoongi had already started ringing things up at the counter before he could turn and stop them.
He sighed in defeat as the Alphas grinned in satisfaction. Normally, an Omega would immediately submit to whatever someone of another rank, even Betas, told them to do.
Jimin really was a special Omega to be able to disagree with an Alpha.
That was proven even further as Jimin refused to let them carry all the bags, objecting until they finally relented and gave him one to carry.
Special indeed.
It was nearing four in the afternoon and they wanted to avoid rush hour. On the way back to their apartment, they went through the local market. The produce stands were beginning to close while the cooked food stands were just opening.
They showed him some booths that had things like figurines and trinkets. Yoongi noticed Jimin's eyes lingering on a jewellery stand and tapped his shoulder to get his attention before taking his hand gently and leading him closer.
"Pick something," he said and held his hand up to stop Jimin from saying it was too much. "I want you to pick something. I think you'll look really cute and I want you to have something from me."
Jimin ended up picking a pair of long, gold coloured earrings that Yoongi knew would go perfectly with the light pink of the teen's hair. If Min Yoongi felt giddy inside when Jimin gave him a hug, no one else needed to know.
The market grew busier as rush hour rapidly approached, so they continued on their way home. Hoseok was in the middle of animatedly telling a story of how a woman's pet donkey got loose near campus when a man suddenly grabbed Jimin's arm and all of the Alphas immediately bristled.
"You must try this new perfume, it's perfect for Omegas!" he said, trying to aim a bottle him, but four pairs of hands pulled Jimin away from the man before he could. Namjoon stepped forward, growling something Jimin couldn't hear but saw the look of fear on the man's face.
"M-my apologies," the Beta stuttered, backing away from them, intimidated by the several angry Alphas.
"Are you okay, Jiminie?" Jin asked. Jimin nodded, it only startled him a bit.
They knew they shouldn't be acting so overprotective. Jimin wasn't their Omega, but they had grown so fond of him within the few hours since they met him, the thought of anyone else touching him pissed them off.
They formed a circle around him; Namjoon in front, Yoongi on his left, Jin on his right, and Hoseok behind. It prevented anyone else from putting hands on him as they continued through the market.
All of the Alphas were tense, their instinct to protect still in overdrive. Jimin seemed to have magic powers as he managed to calm them down just by giggling as a man shouted the word "CABBAGES," over and over again.
Jimin paid close attention as they walked him through the apartment complex so he would remember the way. Jin was about to unlock the door when it ripped open, startling them all. They were greeted with the worried faces of Taehyung and Jeongguk.
"Where's Jimin?!" Tae shouted, panicking when he didn't see the Omega.
Jimin poked his head around Jin who was almost knocked over as the two younger Alphas barrelled through, picking up Jimin and squeezing him hard. "You were gone for so long! We were so worried."
"Ah, hyung, you're kinda hurting me," Jimin squeaked.
"Sorry. Sorry," Tae said, placing him down.
"Since when do you not answer your phone?" Jeongguk turned to Namjoon angrily, "you should have told us where you were!"
The older Alpha, who still hadn't gotten fully over the perfume guy, was about to snap when Jimin stepped between them. He thumped Jeongguk's chest with a look of disapproval. "Cool it, Kookie. I'm fine, don't go all macho man. They would have called if there was a problem. Relax and apologise to him."
Jeongguk was about to protest, but a sharp glare from the teen quieted him as he sighed and turned to Namjoon. "Sorry," he said before leading Jimin into the apartment, leaving the others to once again stand in shock.
Jeongguk had a temper they all knew very well. He occasionally clashed with the older roommates, not having been taught the proper ways an Alpha should act as both of his parents were Betas.
They had just seen an Omega tell an Alpha what to do and it actually worked.
Over the next several days it became even more apparent Jimin was no average person. He often spoke his mind and challenged other's opinions. He didn't let his gender get in the way of his education as he excelled in his classes despite the constant harassment of his Alpha and Beta colleagues.
He was smart enough to know when to draw the line. He was still aware of his social status and the constant danger he was in. The Alphas heard the most horrible things said and saw the treatment he faced. Jimin refused to let them react, somehow managing to calm them down before they could act out, even as they became more protective.
They didn't even have to have a conversation about whether or not to let Jimin stay. Even if they didn't want him there (which they certainly did want him there) nobody would have dared to say anything due to the obvious attachment they all felt for him.
Underneath his feistiness laid his Omegan nature. They knew he was constantly trying to suppress it, but it showed through occasionally, and when it did, they loved every moment of it.
As they grew closer, Jimin became more open with his affection. He would lean his head against their shoulders, slip underneath their arms to get a hug (he seemed to really like hugs), and would get as close as he possibly could, enjoying the personal contact.
Having joined classes almost two months late, Jimin was absolutely buried in assignments, but they were amazed as the boy quickly worked his way through them. Despite the speed in which they were completed, he took great care to make sure they were done properly.
When winter break finally came around, all of them let out a sigh of relief. With the school closed, the on-campus dorms closed as well, forcing all of the students to find a different place to stay. As their apartment was off-campus, they didn't need to be concerned with that, but their families wanted them to come home for the holidays.
They sat down to figure out logistics for who would be home first and how they would travel. They had two weeks off so they began to make plans. "Where are you going, Yoongi hyung?" Hoseok asked.
"Daegu," he said, "are you going to Gwangju?"
Hoseok nodded before turning, "where are you going, Jiminie?" he asked the teen who was walking past the kitchen on his way to his room.
"Staying here," he said, taking a sip of the hot chocolate Jin made him.
"You're not going home? What about your family?" Namjoon asked.
A pained look flashed across his face, but he quickly hid it, shrugging nonchalantly. "Don't have one," he said, holding his mug a bit closer. He bit his lip, looking away and saying, "I'm gonna go work on my essay," before continuing to his room at the end of the hall, closing the door quietly.
Jeongguk and Tae gave each other a look, "you explain, and I check on him?" Jeongguk mouthed to him.
"What's wrong?" Jin asked.
Tae shook his head, "it's kind of a personal thing. Jimin doesn't really want us talking about it. Sorry."
Jeongguk had left the room to talk to Jimin but came back almost immediately. "He said he's fine and that he just wants to be alone. He wouldn't let me in and asked me to just let him be." The other Alphas asked more questions, trying to find out what was going on, but the two refused to answer.
Jimin didn't come out for dinner, making them worry even more but he acted as if nothing happened in the morning, brushing off any questions or concerns.
No matter how much they tried, they were unable to convince him to come along with any of them while they visited their homes. They hated the idea of leaving the Omega alone, but they would have had to literally drag him out. Not even six Alphas could beat the tiny boy's stubbornness.
They would have been impressed if they weren't so concerned.
He promised to keep in touch with them all and kept that promise, texting them in a group chat as well as talking to each of them separately every day.
Namjoon's mother greeted him with a tight hug before pulling back in surprise, "Joonie, why do you smell like an Omega?"
"What do you mean?" he asked, brows furrowed.
"You have an Omega's scent all over you," she said. Her eyes lit up, "have you met someone?!" she asked, excitedly grabbing onto his forearms.
Namjoon sighed, "it's a long story."
She gave him a sympathetic look, leading him inside to talk after informing him his sister and father would be home later. "Tell me about her. What's she like?"
"He's a boy, and we're not together," he said, trying to keep the sadness out of his voice.
His mother had no reaction to the first part as she had always been an ally and supporter of the rights of others. She, a Beta, proudly showed off her "love is love" sticker on the side of their family car.
"Why are you not together? You're absolutely covered like he scented you," she said. She stopped herself for a moment, "what's his name?"
"Jimin. He was Jeongguk and Taehyung's friend and had no place to go, so we let him stay at our place. We didn't think it would be a permanent thing, but we like him so much, we don't want him to leave."
"Is he with one of the others? Is that why you're not with him?" she asked.
"You seem to think I have a thing for him."
His mother rolled her eyes, "the moment you said 'we're not together' I knew. It's the way you said it. You look so sad."
He sighed, "he's not with any of the others even though we all have feelings for him."
"All of you?"
Namjoon nodded, "he's not like anyone I've ever met. He's special. He's an Omega, but if someone tells him to do something, he won't do it unless he wants to. He's stubborn and isn't afraid to give someone a reality check and I just... he's amazing, Mom."
She smiled widely, "tell me more. Where's he from?"
"He's from Busan. He's got the cutest little Satoori accent. He has a full scholarship, and he's brilliant. OH, OH guess what he's going to school for!"
Shaking her head, grinning at her son who had gotten very enthusiastic, "What's he going for?"
"He's minoring in music and doing a double major in dance and... you're not gonna believe it."
"What is it?"
"Criminal justice."
Namjoon thought his mother's eyes would fall out of her head they widened so much, "an Omega in the justice system!" she cheered, "I want to meet him so badly. Oh, my goodness!" Namjoon hadn't seen his mother so excited since his college acceptance, and it made him happy to think it was Jimin that caused it.
They talked about Jimin for hours, Namjoon showing her a couple pictures and videos. She poured over the little pink haired boy and looked at the pure fondness on her son's face as they watched a video of Jimin stepping forward and trying some sort of weird food that the others were too scared to taste.
Namjoon debated mentioning it for a while, wondering if she would say something embarrassing. "I'm gonna be calling him later tonight if you want to talk to him," he said quietly.
"Oh, don't bother him while he's with his family. You can call him some other time," she said.
"He stayed behind at the apartment. He says he doesn't have a family but we don't know what happened. When Taehyung was trying to convince us to let him stay, he said Jimin lost everything in a fire, so I wonder if he maybe..."
His mother gave a saddened look, "shame," she paused, "yes, I would like to talk to him."
"Promise you won't say anything embarrassing?"
She chuckled, "of course."
Later in the night, during the call, she started saying embarrassing things and enjoyed the blush on her oldest child's face as he sputtered while Jimin let out an angelic laugh.
She liked this boy.
While Namjoon was having a lovely time, Yoongi was having a similar conversation with his not-so-accepting family.
"Why do you smell like an Omega?" his mother wrinkled her nose in disgust.
"Two of the younger roommates have a friend who needed a place to stay for a little while, so they invited him to stay with us," he said.
"That doesn't explain why his scent is all over," she stated.
"He has a tendency to jump on people. He's very hyper," he said.
"You let him jump all over? Did you put him in his place? Teach him a lesson about acting properly?" his father asked from the other side of the room
Yoongi felt anger building inside of him, "no, I couldn't. He's their friend, they would have been upset if I did anything."
"You're living with a bunch of Alphas who talk to Omegas?" his mother asked, revolted.
Yoongi bit his tongue to keep himself from snapping and sat, quietly enduring the hours of berating from his parents.
He couldn't wait to get back and see Jimin.
Jimin made sure to text and call every day. He didn't want any of them to worry, and he promised to avoid going out into public spaces that might not have been safe. He did feel a little antsy being alone after so long of almost always having at least one Alpha by his side.
Jimin just wanted to keep him away.
