Summary:

with the pressure of a possible pregnancy looming over your head, you venture back into the dangerous woods to find out what really happened to jungkook.

(alternatively, the one where you might be pregnant and you need to find out what happened to jungkook that day in the forest, no matter the cost of returning.)

Work Text:

It was a painful few weeks of waiting and waiting, the symptoms from before only getting worse as time went on. You weren’t sure if it was because you were pregnant or because you were so stressed over possibly being pregnant. You hadn’t seen the village physician yet, too afraid to go back to her home and get checked on again. You didn’t know if you wanted to be pregnant—

You didn’t know if you didn’t want to be pregnant.

Would it be so bad, to bear Jungkook’s child? To bear a goblin’s child?

That spark, that connection, to Jungkook was unlike anything you’d ever felt before. You were doubtful that you’d ever feel it with another man again. Was this the feeling that your mother had described to you before in your younger years when she spoke of your father? You couldn’t be positive it was, but you knew it could be the start of something magical.

But the thought of Jungkook made tears well in your eyes, hands trembling as you remembered his blood spilling between your fingers and the arrow piercing his flesh.

With a shaky breath, you rolled over in your bed and hugged your blanket close to your body, blinking away the tears. Not knowing what happened to the goblin who’d saved your life more than once was killing you more than your indecision about the baby. After a few minutes of silence, you decided; you needed to know what happened in the forest and if Jungkook was still alive.

You stood from your bed and grabbed a cloak, wrapping it around your shoulders and slinging your bag over your shoulder. You crept out of your room quietly, padding toward the kitchen to grab fruits and put them inside your bag—you weren’t leaving the forest until you knew whether Jungkook was breathing or not.

Leaving your home in the dead of night was not difficult, the village sound asleep to wake early for work the next day. You were thankful that your home wasn’t very far away from the edge of the forest, the chirping and whispers of the trees drawing you in more than ever before.

You cast one last look toward your village before you stepped into the woods, stomach churning and hands shaking with nerves as you sought answers.

You’d forgotten what it was like, travelling the forest without the anticipation of goblins on the forefront of your mind. Before, it had been a simple worry to encounter one, but now—now you were seeking them out. You didn’t exactly have a plan, so once you were lost as you had been many times before, you sighed and wished for nothing more than Jungkook’s warm embrace. You didn’t even know how to find the damn home he’d taken you to; perhaps the book would have helped you if only you’d been able to translate any of it.

You settled for thinking of the goblin as you walked, avoiding oddly formed branches and any suspicious looking areas or plants. You turned in a circle as you walked, completely lost in the unfamiliar scenery. The only times you’d ever ventured this deep into the forest was when you had Jungkook by your side, leading you home and saving you from Death’s kiss.

And you’d never truly thanked him.

Your palms felt sticky and wrong, the phantom of goblin blood seeping through your flesh as you crouched down in the grass, burying your face into your knees and wrapping your arms around your legs. You bit your lip as tears freely fell, the fear of Jungkook really being gone forever a very real possibility now that you were in the forest. You screwed your eyes shut and cried into your pants, the sound of the woods amplifying your loneliness and despair.

When you looked up, sniffling and wiping at your wet eyes, there was a tree trunk with a brown wooden door just inside of it.

Your body reacted before you could think, standing and fixing your bag as you rushed toward it, tripping over a thick root sticking out from the ground in your haste. Even with a mouthful of dirt, all you could think of was Jungkook. That had to be his home.

You paused in front of it, marveling at the familiar sight. Your palms came to rest on the wood, dragging down the smooth surface slowly as a million thoughts dashed through your head.

But only one thought mattered; Jungkook was alive.

You grabbed the doorknob and twisted it, surprised when it opened so easily. Pushing the door open, you let a wide smile pull at your lips, ecstatic that you’d see Jungkook again.

When you stepped inside, it was unlike anything you’d seen before.

The lights were out, blanketing the entire home in darkness. A quick sweep of your eyes found that everything was a mess, clothes and items strewn all over the home, littering the ground. It was the exact opposite of how it had been the first time you were brought here.

And it was empty. Jungkook wasn’t here.

You left the door open as you walked further into the home, exploring what was left. You brought your hand down onto the surface of the desk, running your fingers through it. You managed to find a candle and lit one of the matches beside it, bringing the flame down and lighting the room dimly. You turned to face the rest of the room, the candle held tightly in your hand.

You blanched as you saw the smears of blood covering Jungkook’s home.

From the color of the blood on the walls, the desk, the ground, and even the bed, you knew it was dried and old. But it still caused your stomach to churn uncomfortably, the thought of what must have happened to Jungkook after you’d left him wounded and alone bringing bile to your throat.

You whimpered as you made your way to his bed and inspected what looked to be a pool of blood stained on the sheets and blanket. The bed had the most from what you could tell, the rusty color streaked on the white sheets making your head spin. You could barely see, the candle in your hand trembling as you sat down on the edge where there were only a few drops.

Was he tortured here? Was he dead?

Were you never going to see him again?

You let yourself cry as you sat on the bed, surrounded by the now endearing scent of the goblin, your chest tight and aching. You didn’t know how long you sat there, sobbing and whimpering into emptiness, until you ran out of tears and your hands finally stopped trembling. Getting up and off the bed proved difficult, the familiarity of his bed calling for you to stay, to let the guilt licking at your organs devour you from the inside.

But, somehow, you managed to lift yourself off of the cold bed and take another look around the small home. You’d strode halfway across to the door when it caught your eye, barely a flash of a glint from the couch cushion. You stopped in your tracks and squinted at the couch, eyes scanning for whatever it was that had just caught your attention. Seeing nothing, you turned away and made to leave, but another glint made you pause.

What the hell was that?

You strolled over to the couch, setting the candle you were carrying down on the little stand beside it—you avoided setting it on any of the lovingly worn books, the sight of them making your throat clog up, the image of Jungkook relaxing in the couch to read flashing behind your eyes.

Ignoring it, your brows furrowed at the emptiness of the couch. You shoved your fingers into the sides of the cushion, feeling around for anything that may have slipped behind it. The tip of your fingers slid against something that felt like paper, slicing briefly against your index finger as you pulled back. You hissed but grabbed the item, pulling it out from behind the cushion and holding it by the candle to observe its title.

Your lips parted in shock as your eyes roamed the cover—this was the book. The book you’d stolen from Jungkook before he took it back, before he—

You swallowed past the lump in your throat and shoved the book into your bag quickly, leaning forward and blowing out the candle. You quickly left the humble abode, shutting the door behind you and watching it fade away right in front of your eyes. You’d never get over that. Jungkook’s magic was amazing.

Sighing, you turned on your heel, away from the tree trunk and Jungkook’s home, ready to walk through the forest and attempt to find something that would tell you what had happened to the goblin. You’d only walked a few minutes, the greenery around you looking all the same, when your bag had started to burn against your thigh. You ignored it for as long as you could, thinking it your imagination, until it was nearly scalding through the fabric of your clothes and you knew you had to stop and look inside the bag.

Immediately you could see a faint outline of light around Jungkook’s book, the outsides of it hot to the touch. You tried to touch it but couldn’t, the heat searing your fingers and making you hiss in response. You simply stared at the book, unsure of what to do with it—why was it even doing that?

Rustling from the bushes beside you made you pause, stomach lurching as you whirled around toward the shrubbery, an arm wrapping tightly around your waist and dragging you down, your body falling onto another’s.

You started to scream, the sound tearing itself out of your throat while your eyes shut, but you were turned over onto the grassy floor of the forest, the person rolling the two of you over so they were hovering over you. Chapped lips pressed into yours, startling you into opening your eyes widely.

You met familiar doe-like brown eyes and your body went limp underneath his.

He pulled back, pain etched into his features as he shifted to sit next to you, gesturing for you to stay down. “Jungkook?” you whispered, unable to help yourself from propping yourself up onto your elbows. “Is it—is it really you?”

“What the hell are you doing here?” he grit out instead of answering, eyes harsh as they watched your every movement. The goblin seemed to be taking in your face, eyes roaming and darting to every bit he could see before resting at your eyes.

“I—” you stuttered, cheeks hot and bag strewn haphazardly across your torso. “I needed to know what happened to you,” you told him quietly, gently. Your nerves buzzed to life, even the blades of grass caressing your skin igniting a desire inside of you, Jungkook’s palm still resting on your shoulder mindlessly.

“Why would you need to know that?” he bit out, looking away from you. He seemed to be inspecting the forestry, his elongated ears twitching as he listened. You pursed your lips, ignoring the hurt that shot through you, the thought of his possible child growing inside of your belly taunting you.

You kept your mouth shut, unwilling to say anything else—you knew he was alive now, didn’t you? With the pain trudging through your veins like mud, you convinced yourself of your naivety. What would he say, if you were to tell him of the babe growing within you, his babe? No, you couldn’t tell him. He would abandon, tell you he would never raise a half-human child, never want you for more than a warm body to lay with.

Jungkook’s eyes cut to yours briefly, aware of your sudden silence and the way your body seemed to turn away from him slightly. He didn’t speak.

“Well,” you huffed, pushing yourself up into a seated position beside him. His hand fell from your shoulder with your movement, the lack of contact immediately raising a want within you. “Since I know you’re well and safe, I should go,” you continued coolly. You started to get to your feet, pushing yourself up quickly.

“No, wait—!” He didn’t get to finish, his hand grabbing at your wrist and yanking you back down. You yelped as you toppled over him, bodies colliding as he fell onto his back with you completely on top of him. Out of instinct, you attempted to catch yourself, hand digging into his torso hard.

He grunted and flinched, face twisting as he threw his head back onto the ground, eyes screwed tight. You gasped, removing your hand and sitting up on his lap, eyes wide with concern. His hand remained on the small of your back, fingers light and nearly unnoticeable.

Except for the soaring heat his touch lit inside of your skin, licking at you from the inside out.

“Are you alright?” you breathed, checking him over as you straddled his hips, avoiding his torso. The hand not touching you briefly moved over his stomach before it came to rest on your thigh, as if unwittingly and unknowingly—as if it were natural to touch you so intimately, so mindlessly.

He nodded, though remained winded. “Yes,” he groaned. “I’m alright.”

Without being able to help it, you tugged the hem of his shirt up to check for yourself. You winced as you saw a mangled looking scar near the top of his torso, the thought of his warm and strong body not even beginning to take root in your mind—not when he was hurting. You ran your fingertips along the scar where the arrow had struck his skin, furrowing your brows.

He wrapped his hand around your wrist loosely. Your eyes darted to catch his, surprised at the darkness of his eyes, the way they were hooded as they watched you. Neither of you moved and you held your breath as something seemed to crackle in the air between you.

“You can’t leave yet,” he said slowly. You watched him swallow roughly, his body completely still under yours. “It’s not safe. They could still be looking for you.”

“You mean the one that shot you,” you said, completely sure of your guess.

“Yes.”

“Why would they be looking for me?”

Jungkook sighed. “Because they know—they know we’ve been together. They know I—” He cut himself off violently, blinking and lifting up into a seated position. It knocked you down a bit, your ass shifting down until you were basically seated on his crotch. He regarded you carefully, lips thinning and body taut under your fingers, which had caught hold of his shirt to avoid falling. Your faces were close—too close—and you licked your lips. His gaze dropped to your mouth as you did, pupils dilated when he looked back up. “It’s not safe yet,” he repeated lowly, voice barely above a whisper.

“Okay,” you murmured, your eyes drawn to his mouth as you held onto the fabric. His hand remained at the small of your back, keeping your body close to his, the hand around your wrist releasing your skin to shift down to rest on your thigh. Your breath hitched and Jungkook’s ears twitched in response, picking up on the small breath.

His eyes shifted suddenly to the side, scanning the forest floor. He caught sight of the book peeking out from your bag, which had slipped down to the grass and started to spill out its contents. He perked up and almost shoved you off of him in his haste to grab it. You huffed as you removed yourself from his lap, standing and dusting your pants. A pout started to make its way onto your lips, but you twisted them down into a frown to avoid it; you didn’t want Jungkook to see you as—as someone that would act so childishly.

His hands came into contact with the binding of the book and you could feel something shift. It was like the air around you pulsed with magic, with life. Jungkook let out a heavy breath before getting to his knees, standing only a few feet away from you. You watched the way his hands ran across the book, cherishing it in a way you wished he’d do to you. You bit your lip and swallowed to shove the want away.

“What just happened?” you asked him quietly.

He no longer seemed overly worried about whoever he was concerned about earlier. “You…” he trailed off, watching you in a different light, eyes brighter than they had been, more welcoming. “You found it?”

You nodded your head, ignoring the way your heart picked up speed. “Yes,” you replied. “I found your home and the book was inside. I figured I should take it with me, I'm—I’m sorry if that was something I shouldn’t have done.”

“No,” he pushed, stepping closer to you. “No, it’s exactly what I needed.” He stared at you for a little while longer, hand coming up to rest on your shoulder. “Thank you.” Jungkook glanced behind him again, towards the thicker parts of the forestry, and nudged you back a bit. “Come on,” he whispered. “Let’s go.”

Night had blanketed the forest quickly after you left with Jungkook, trailing behind him a few centimeters as he led you through the trees. When he found a suitable part of the greenery that he must have deemed acceptable to stay at, he whispered words you couldn’t understand, the sound thick and tingling with power. Ever since finding the book, he seemed better. You were sure that staying with him would be ideal for now, since his powers had returned to him with an unmatchable force.

Now, the two of you were seated between large tree trunks, bushes surrounding the two of you. It was almost as if the plants themselves had taken root in Jungkook’s skin, doing his bidding with every breath he took.

“Will you finally tell me what the book is?” you mumbled to him, huddling beside the tree trunk closest to you. You were too afraid to sit any closer to the goblin, fearful that he’d reject your touch, your presence, as he had before.

He gave you a curious look. “It’s… hard to explain. It’s like a source of magic. I’m bound to the book, as the book is bound to me.”

You furrowed your brows. “What does that even mean?”

Jungkook’s eyes darkened and he hunched forward, elbows resting on his knees and hands cupping his face. “I’m not just a goblin,” he told you seriously.

“What?” Your heart started to dance a frenzied beat, suddenly afraid. Were there things scarier than goblins in this forest? Of course there were. But he’d known the other goblins, he'd—his ears were a giveaway on what he was.

Jungkook struggled to continue, mouth opening and closing a few times. It was like the words were stuck in his throat, unwilling to be spoken into the air around you. “My father was… a human.”

Your eyes bulged comically. “What?!” you screeched.

Sh!” Jungkook hurried to quiet you, hands lurching toward you before stopping and pulling back to his sides. “Not so loud! My magic can only conceal us so much.” You shut your mouth quickly, staring at him wide-eyed as you tried to process what he’d just shared with you. “My mother was a goblin and she saved a human man that had wandered in to find a goblin, and, well…” His features twisted for a second, lowering his head a bit. You could barely make out his expression anymore, not with it nearly covered completely by his arm’s shadow and the dark of the forest settling in.

“What happened?” you probed softly, shifting closer to him.

“As you can see, I’m here and they’re not.” His words were harsh, nearly spit out at the ground. “Our village didn’t exactly take kindly to one of theirs deciding to spend her life with a human man. When they—” Jungkook stopped, his voice catching in a way that twisted your insides painfully. “When they had me, it was the last straw for our village. They wanted to make an example for any others that might follow in the footsteps of my mother.”

You sat, horrified, for a minute of tense silence. “They killed your mother?” you whispered.

He let out a huff, the ghost of a laugh. “My father had left, before. He grew tired of having to deal with the discrimination from our villagers. My mother and I… we were not enough for him,” he said bitterly. “She met a much crueler fate, for bearing his child. For having me.” He turned to you, eyes glossy and mouth twisted down. “They tore her magic from her, burned her life source until it was dust and she followed soon after. I had to watch her writhe in pain, as her magic burned away from the inside out.”

You swallowed past the lump forming in your throat, now close enough to touch him. Your fingers itched to wrap around his arm, to comfort him.

“I tended to her as she died,” he continued numbly. “It was slow, but it only lasted a few days. We can’t live without our magic.”

“Is that what your book is?” you prodded.

He nodded his head. “Yes. Before she died, she helped me concentrate my magic’s source into the book that I always read. It wasn’t long after that she passed.” Guilt gnawed bluntly at your heart, at your stomach, at your skin. What would have happened to him had anything happened to the book when you stole it? “They refused to bury her with the rest of the goblins.” He let out a bark of laughter, the sound making your skin crawl. The chuckles died out until he was smiling cruelly, eyes cutting to yours briefly. “She had disgraced them.”

You didn’t know what to tell him. Your hands found their way to his arm, holding it gently. The smile dropped from his face and he watched you cautiously. “Jungkook, I'm—”

He cut you off, moving his arm out of your grasp. “Don’t,” he whispered. “We can’t, don’t you understand?” he whispered harshly. “As much as I—as I’m drawn to you, and you to me, we can’t. I won’t subject you to something like that.” He cocked his head to the side and shoved a tongue into his cheek. “You have other human men that can give you a happier life than I ever could.”

Your cheeks felt hot and you brought your hands into your lap. “Jungkook, I haven’t bled.”

He looked at you, confused. “What?”

“I haven't—I haven’t bled this month yet,” you continued, voice dipping into an embarrassed whisper. “I should have bled earlier in the month, but I haven’t, and I—” You chanced a peek at his face, which was still confused as he regarded you. “I’ve only… slept with you.”

It clicked in his mind and his mouth fell open. Heat spread quickly up your neck and you couldn’t bear to look at him. It was the exact opposite of what he wanted and you hated that you were the cause of something he didn’t want to subject anyone to, least of all you.

“What?” he whispered. “What did you say?” He grabbed your shoulders gently, forcing you to face him. “Are you carrying my child?” he whispered.

You bit your lip and looked away from him quickly, shoulders tingling with the feel of his skin on you. “I don’t know,” you replied. “I might be.”

He sighed loudly, dropping his head lower. He pushed forward a little bit, resting his forehead on yours. You met his eyes and then he shut them, looking pained. “How could this happen?” he asked, though you were sure he meant it to be for only his ears to hear.

“I’m sorry,” you whispered. Your lips quivered, tears threatening to form in your eyes. “I’m so sorry, Jungkook,” you repeated.

He sighed again and moved away from you, staying close as he looked at you seriously. “Don’t apologize,” he told you. “We’ll figure it out. We will.”

You nodded your head along to what he was saying, sure that you’d be able to figure something out, like he said.

“It’s not for sure,” you tried to reassure him. “I might just be really late.”

“Yeah,” he agreed hesitantly. You didn’t know what else to tell him. “Let's—let’s just rest for tonight, shall we?”

He started to move away from you, hands letting you go, but you quickly grabbed one of his hands with yours. “Wait,” you said. “I need you to tell me something.”

“What is it?”

Your hands tightened their grasp on his. “Do you know who shot you with that arrow?”

His mouth straightened into a thin line. “Yes.”

“Tell me,” you pleaded. “I want to know.”

“It was Taehyung,” he said roughly. “You remember him, right?” At your nod, he continued. “He and Jimin have always taken an… interest in me. Since we were young. The elder goblins raised me after my mother died, but everyone knew who I was; what I was. Taehyung couldn’t stand it, and—” He let out a shaky breath, shifting closer to your body, as if seeking any warmth you could provide for him. “Any time they caught me doing something they deemed was too human-like, they would beat me.” He laughed shortly. “They thought if they could punish me for it, I’d somehow stop being the way I was.”

“What the hell is wrong with them?” you asked yourself, shivering at the thought.

Jungkook shook his head at you. “No, no,” he started. “I don't—I don’t blame them. They wanted the best for me. I deserved it.” His breaths were shaky as he paused, eyes darting up to yours. “I’m just glad I could protect you.”

You swallowed roughly, bringing a hand up to cup his cheek gently. “No, Jungkook,” you said softly. “You didn’t deserve what they did to you.”

He leaned into your touch, eyes fluttering shut. “He was aiming for you,” he mumbled. “I’m thankful that—that your human man was there to get you out.” When he mentioned Namjoon, his tone hardened, the jealousy at the thought of him apparent and bringing a shy smile to your face.

“I’m glad I found you again,” you breathed.

Jungkook bit his lip and let his eyes dart down to your own lips. Before either of you could think, he rushed forward and pressed his mouth to yours in a quick chaste peck. “Let’s sleep,” he told you quietly, pulling away from you. You nodded, eyes wide from the kiss, and followed his lead, laying down on the grass beside him. Jungkook’s arm came around you, bringing you closer to his body, and you happily allowed yourself to be pulled into his embrace.

You slept soundly, the desire racing through your blood only increasing the longer you spent wrapped up in his arms.

When you awoke, it was to the sound of hushed voices and laughs. You squeezed your eyes shut, turning over onto your back. There was no warmth beside you, no touch against your skin—only the sun beaming down through the leaves onto you.

“She’s awake!” a voice squealed with delight.

Your eyes shot open and you sat up quickly, vision still unclear from sleep. A hand prodded at your shoulder as you blinked a few times. You turned to face the stranger, focusing on their face as the haze of unconsciousness left you.

Taehyung.

You yelped and shot back immediately, thrashing as his arms encased your body and pulled you close to him. “Got you!” he hollered, a manic laugh bubbling from his throat. Your heart pounded harshly against your chest as he roughly yanked you up off the forest floor with him, keeping you flush against him.

You faced forward and saw Jungkook, bound to a tree trunk a few feet away from you, Jimin’s hand up to hold him in place. You couldn’t see any restraints, but you assumed it was being done by magic. Jungkook’s eyes were wide, trained on you, the way Taehyung’s arms held you in place.

Your breaths were coming quick, but you willed yourself to relax in his hold. Taehyung’s arms only tightened, wary of your compliance. He nodded his head at Jimin, who smirked and slowly curled his fingers. Jungkook hissed in pain and squirmed against his invisible restraints.

“What do you want?” Jungkook ground out, clenching his jaw.

Jimin released the pressure, letting his hand splay out comfortably. “We were looking all over for you,” the goblin murmured, ears twitching. “And this is how you say hello?” His smile was sharp, pulled up at the edges and not reaching his eyes.

Taehyung howled with laughter when Jungkook spit at his feet. “Jungkookie, Jungkookie, didn’t we get rid of that habit of yours?” he sing-songed from behind you. You were trembling, sure that he could feel it, but he paid you barely any attention.

“Guess you didn’t.” Jungkook replied gruffly.

“It appears so,” Taehyung continued, lowering his head to nudge at you with his chin. You froze comically in his grasp, insides twisting. “Even after last time, you’re still out and about with a human,” he spat.

Jungkook said nothing, gaze not even flitting to yours for a second. “We aren’t together,” he said forcefully. “She only—got lost.”

“That simple, is it?” Taehyung purred.

“Yes,” Jungkook pressed. Even you could tell he was lying, and you hadn’t known him for his whole life the way Taehyung and Jimin did. You shut your eyes, resigning yourself to whatever was going to happen when Taehyung called Jimin over to your side.

“Then I guess you won’t mind if we play?” Taehyung asked sweetly. You could hear the smile in his voice, but the words slipping past his lips were like acid dripping onto your shoulders.

Jimin dragged his finger down your cheek slowly. “I’m sure he won’t,” the goblin mumbled, leaning in closer and smirking at you. He pulled one of Taehyung’s arrows out of the quiver strapped to his person, dangling the tip close to where he’d touched. You bit back a whimper, your eyes crossing as you tried to keep it in your line of sight.

“Please,” Jungkook whispered.

The goblins ignored him, Taehyung twisting you to face Jimin better, who held up the arrow and teased you with it. He pushed the tip into your cheek just enough to get your heart rate speeding up, but pulled it back before it could cut into your skin. Your whimper won out in the end, slipping out of your mouth as you tried to cower back into Taehyung’s chest.

Jungkook fought against the magic binding him. “Wait, please, wait stop!” he called out to the goblins. “Please, stop! She’s—please, she’s pregnant, please!”

Everything seemed to stop as he shouted out those words. The arrow just starting to dig into your cheek pulled away and you could feel Taehyung’s hands around your arms freeze.

“What?” Taehyung whispered, voice dangerously low. Your breaths were quick, panic seeping into you at the thought of what they’d do to you now. The goblin’s grip on your body loosened and you began to wonder how quickly you’d be able to squirm away and run for your life.

Jimin stood silently, eyes trained on you, though he didn’t move. You swallowed nervously and waited for the opportune moment.

“What did you say?” Taehyung pressed.

“She’s pregnant,” Jungkook repeated, defeated as his body sagged forward.

There was another tense silence. “She’s—” Taehyung cut himself off, releasing you unexpectedly. You hurried to move away from him, standing between the goblins with no idea about what to do—you didn’t want to leave Jungkook, not after just finding him again, not with the people who had hurt him.

Jimin rushed toward Jungkook, shoving you aside as he strode over to him. His magic seemed to fade, Jungkook’s hands coming free. He didn’t have the time or chance to step away from the tree, Jimin’s hands fisting in his shirt and pushing him up against the tree trunk.

“You—” He cut himself off with an unparalleled fury, his face twisting. Jungkook’s expression remained concerned, his hands resting by his sides and not once raising against the goblin who had him pinned. “You copulated with a human?” he whispered harshly.

Jungkook said nothing.

“I shouldn’t be surprised,” Jimin spat at him, knuckles turning white against the dark color of Jungkook’s clothes. “It’s in your blood to want to take a human as a mate.”

“Jimin,” Taehyung interrupted sharply. Said goblin didn’t even dare to turn, his anger still placed on Jungkook, the disgust on his features apparent. “Jimin. That’s enough.”

“But he—”

“There’s nothing that can be done now,” Taehyung said. When you looked at him, his eyes glanced briefly at your belly. You had to resist the urge to cover it with your hands. Jimin removed his hands from Jungkook, stepping back and away from him. You watched cautiously, unsure of what to do as Taehyung slowly made his way closer to Jungkook.

“Taehyung, I—” Jungkook started, but the goblin quieted him with a hand.

“We may hate your… infatuation with humans,” he began, not even glancing at you. “But we aren’t monsters. We won’t harm your unborn child.” Jungkook’s features softened, a hand coming up toward Taehyung. He stopped him with a harsh look. “This means nothing,” he continued.

There was a pause before Jungkook continued to speak. “What am I going to do?” he whispered. “Where will we go?” At Taehyung’s confused look, he elaborated. “I… I can’t take her back to the village,” he said. “We both know I can’t.”

Taehyung sighed, dragging a hand across his face roughly. “I’ve heard of a place… It’s supposedly a place where creatures like you have found solace in.” You inched your way closer to Jungkook, trying not to draw the other two goblins’ attention. “If you follow the trail, you should find it. They say it opens only to those who need it.”

Jungkook’s hand found yours when you’d gotten close enough for him to reach you. “Thank you,” he told Taehyung. “I mean it.”

Taehyung’s eyes flitted down to your clasped hands and his expression hardened. “Don’t think this changes anything,” he told Jungkook. “If we find you again—”

“I know,” Jungkook stopped him.

Taehyung turned away, facing his companion. When he spoke, he was still addressing you and Jungkook. “Go,” he said.

And you did.

Every step you took farther and farther away from the place where you’d met the other goblins had relief swirling through you. Jungkook’s hand remained tight around yours as you walked and you were grateful for it.

You only decided to broach the subject and break the silence between the two of you when night fell. You were in a place similar to that of before, sitting on the ground between the trees, huddled close to Jungkook as he started a fire with his magic.

“What’s the place Taehyung mentioned?” you asked him quietly.

Jungkook leaned back and sighed. “It’s… I forgot about it, to be honest. When I was little sometimes the older goblins would ask why my mother didn’t take me to—” He paused, as if he couldn’t remember the name. “I think it was called Saefn?” he muttered. “I’m not sure. It was a place that was for humans and goblins to interact safely and live harmoniously.” “Why didn’t she take you there?” you mumbled, shifting closer to his side as he wrapped an arm around you. “Wouldn’t it have been… better?”

“Because no one can find it,” he replied. “It was just a story. A make-believe place for traitors.” Jungkook pulled you in closer to his side. “I’m not even sure it really exists.”

“If it doesn’t, we should start it,” you said firmly. He huffed a laugh and you looked to him with a small smile. “A place where our two species can live peacefully. That would be so nice.”

“It would,” he agreed. “But for now let’s go to sleep. We can look for it tomorrow.”

You nodded and let him shift the both of you onto your backs. He curled himself around you, breaths evening out quickly. You laid awake, watching the stars above, having no doubt in your mind now that you were carrying Jungkook’s child in your belly. Anxiety made its way into your veins, tingling at your skin viciously.

How were you going to raise a child? You couldn’t remain in the woods like this, fearful of the goblins finding you, of doing to Jungkook what they’d done to his mother. And your own mother, you’d simply left her without telling her anything that was happening with you—how could you ever go back and face her again? You couldn’t bring Jungkook with you to the village; while the goblins may be forgiving of an innocent child and raise it, take care of it—your people? They would slaughter Jungkook for having the nerve to touch you, to lay with you. And once it was born, they would take it from you, give it to the wolves and monsters of the forest to devour—for no one you’d heard of in your village had ever come into contact with a goblin the way you had, never bore its child.

Maybe you could convince your mother to help you somehow, to keep your child’s heritage a secret if its ears were the same as Jungkook’s. And Jungkook could go back to his home, his village, with no one knowing the truth—he could tell Taehyung and Jimin that you’d never been pregnant and that you’d gone home and he would never lay with a human again.

With shaky fingers, you lifted Jungkook’s hand from around your waist and wriggled away from him slowly. You set his hand back down on the grass as you got up, swallowing and willing your heart to stop its pounding against your ribs. The last thing you wanted to do was leave him, raise a child on your own, but how could you ask him to risk his life for you? How could you, when he’d revealed just before to you that he didn’t want a human for his mate?

You’d only taken a few steps away from him when the Earth under your feet became more vibrant, a thick line like that of a pathway extending down. Your brows furrowed and you tried to see what was further down, but you couldn’t see anything besides the darkness of the leaves.

Moving back to Jungkook’s side, you shook him awake. As he mumbled and blinked his eyes open, you checked back to see that the vibrant green of the sudden path was still there.

“Jungkook,” you whispered, shaking him harder as he woke. “Jungkook, what is that?”

“Hm?” He finally sat up and looked down the way you had, furrowing his brows. “What’s what?”

“You don’t see it?” you asked. “It’s—the ground is… glowing.”

“What?” he replied incredulously.

“It’s like a path,” you told him, pointing. “It’s leading down there.”

“I—” Jungkook shut his mouth suddenly, staring at you. “Let’s go see what’s down there, then. You lead the way.” He stood up and gripped your hand in his. You nodded and straightened up, pulling him along down the glowing path in the grass.

Reaching the end of the path had both of you faltering in your steps, eyes wide as you looked up at the shimmering air.

“Can you see it?” you asked him, breathless at the beauty of whatever it was.

Jungkook’s hand squeezed yours. “Yes,” he replied, sounding just as breathless as you. “It’s… I’ve never seen magic like this.”

“What is it?” you responded.

“It’s protection,” he told you. “I—I can’t believe it actually exists.” His laugh was full of amazement, lighter than anything you’d heard.

“Do we just… go through it?” you asked him, turning away from the shimmering air, the colors reflecting off of it and shining onto your skin.

“Yes,” he replied, nodding his head. “Let’s—” He stopped, a soft smile pulling at the corners of his lips as he turned to face you fully. Your heart nearly stopped at the beauty. “Let’s go home.”

The smile tugging at your lips couldn’t be stopped, brightening your face as the two of you walked into the magic. There was an odd sensation, like you were surrounded by water, that lasted for only a few seconds. When you opened your eyes again, you saw a few people mingling close by. They all stopped and faced the two of you.

Some had ears like yours, and others had ears like Jungkook’s.

It was real.

Immediately, an older woman came forward and stood only a few feet away from you. She glanced down at your intertwined hands, and smiled up at the two of you.

“Welcome,” she said gently. “What are your names?”

You told her your name, noticing the green tip of her ears poking out from between her greying hair. Jungkook supplied his own name after you and her smile seemed to grow as she glanced down to your stomach.

“Are you with child, my dear?” she asked quietly. Cheeks flushing, you nodded your head slowly. “That’s alright,” she reassured you. “Many of us who find this place are with child when we do.” She glanced at Jungkook. “It is yours?”

“Yes,” he replied.

“You two are more than welcome to remain here,” she told you, gesturing for the both of you to follow her deeper into the safe haven. “Many mixed children reside here—we haven’t had many visitors lately.” She stopped in front of a small cabin, turning back to the two of you. “We weren’t expecting anyone, as you can imagine, so this will have to do for now. There are beds and clothes inside, but we will help you with anything else you need. You two can meet everyone tomorrow, but for now go inside and rest. You look like you need it.”

She smiled and left the two of you alone, the other people glancing over to you curiously and waving hesitantly when caught staring. Jungkook and you made your way inside the cabin, the goblin letting go of your hand for a second to lock the door with his magic before following you further inside. It was small, two beds on opposite ends of the room, and a closet. You opened the closet and found changes of clothes.

Jungkook’s hands came to rest on your shoulders, pulling you away from the closet. You turned to face him and his mouth came down onto yours softly, kissing you a few times chastely before you deepened it, licking at his lips and raising your hands from your sides to tangle in his dark hair.

He groaned into your mouth when you tugged at his hair. He moved you back towards the bed and when the backs of your legs nudged the mattress you fell back onto the bed with a creak. He followed after you immediately, tugging at the hem of your shirt. You complied immediately and took it off, leaving your breasts bare.

“I’ve wanted you for so long,” he moaned, pulling back and tugging his own shirt off of his body. Your hands rested on his chest and you dragged your fingernails down his skin gently as he came back down to you, attaching his mouth to your breast and sucking at the skin. You threw your head back and moaned, heat pooling between your legs as he kneaded your other breast with his rough palm.

The idea of having Jungkook, completely and happily, for the rest of your life, only aroused you further, and you spread your legs to accommodate his hips as he pressed you flat against the bed. You tried to wrap your legs around his hips, but he moved his hand from your chest down to your legs and roughly shoved your leg down to the bed. His fingers dug into your thigh as he pushed it hard against the bed, doing the same thing with your other thigh. Legs completely spread for him and flat against the bed, he sucked your nipple into his mouth at the same time that he ground his hips into you harshly.

You whimpered and arched your back, attempting to move back against him. Even through the fabric of his pants and yours, you could feel how hot and hard he was against you, the friction against your clit with every roll of his hips into you already making you see stars.

“Jungkook, please, I need you,” you panted, tugging at his hair.

He pulled his mouth away from your breast with an obscene sound and looked up at you with dark eyes, pupils blown wide. “And you’ll have me,” he said, grinding into you a few more times before pulling away. He yanked at your pants until they were at your ankles, at which point he focused on getting his own pants and underwear off. You kicked your pants off of your legs, not caring where they landed.

Before you could hook your fingers into your panties, Jungkook spread your legs back apart and slid down your body. Without waiting, he mouthed at you through your panties and you keened loudly, legs attempting to shut out of shock. His fingers dug into the flesh of your thighs, keeping them in place as he started to suck on you, pushing his tongue onto your panties. He inhaled deeply and you stuttered out one moan after another, squeezing your eyes shut and focusing on the delicious friction from his tongue and the fabric of your underwear.

As if sensing you were close, he pulled away and pressed a teasing kiss against you. You shuddered, clenching around nothing and rocking your hips, trying to find the friction again. You whined loudly.

“Such a naughty girl, aren’t you?” he purred, hooking his fingers into your panties and tugging them down your thighs. When he got them off of you, leaving the two of you completely bare to each other, he held up your underwear for you to see. Your cheeks flushed with heat as he displayed the inside, wet and sticky with your arousal. “So wet already?”

“It’s all for you,” you breathed, trying to get his attention back to where you so desperately needed it.

He growled, tossing your underwear aside and kissing his way up your inner thigh. You clenched as he reached you, his breath fanning against your folds. You shuddered and then he pressed his mouth to you, licking up your folds. You whined and rocked your hips up against him, his hands shifting to the backs of your thighs and lifting your legs up to rest on his shoulders. His fingers caressed your skin, digging in hard as he wrapped his lips around your clit and sucked hard.

“Jungkook, please—” you moaned, bringing your hands to the bedsheets and fisting them in your grip. Complying with your request, he pressed the flat of his tongue against you and brought his hands to your hips, moving them slowly as he held himself still. Realizing what he wanted, your breath caught and you pulled back a bit, biting your lip.

He looked up at you in confusion, the sight of his mouth slick with your arousal stirring heat in your belly. You sat up and got to your knees, turning him onto his back and pushing him down. He looked up at you with wide eyes, but when you crawled over him, straddling his chest, his eyes darkened and he smirked up at you before grabbing at your hips to bring you up closer. When you were situated right above his face, he cheekily raised up and licked a stripe up your folds teasingly, making you groan.

Without waiting any longer, you sat down fully on his open mouth, his tongue sticking out flat for you. You rocked your hips against it, hunching over to rest your hands on the bed above his head as you moved. When you opened your eyes, you met his gaze and clenched at the way he was watching you use him, his fingers tightening on your hips and helping you move when your thighs started to shake. Pleasure built in your abdomen and you were panting, eyes screwing shut as it tingled up your veins and through your body. Your orgasm hit you all at once, washing over you with hitched and breathy moans, with erratic and hard rocks down onto Jungkook’s tongue.

When you came down from your orgasm, breathing heavily and already sweating, Jungkook flipped you over onto your back. You let out a small noise as you bounced lightly on the mattress, Jungkook’s body looming over yours. He groaned and pressed his cock against your slick folds, making you moan loudly. He rocked his hips, slicking up his dick with your arousal and come, the friction against your clit right after orgasming making you squirm underneath him.

It didn’t take long until the slight pain turned into pleasure and you were rocking up to meet his movements. His cock slid between your folds and with a particularly quick thrust, the head caught on your entrance and the both of you groaned.

“I need to be inside you right now,” Jungkook panted, lowering himself to rest on his arms beside you. You nodded your consent, opening your legs wider for him and he groaned at the sight of you, so ready and willing for him. He brought one hand down to wrap around himself, pumping his cock a few times and spreading your slick all over it before he pushed the head into your folds. He rubbed it against you a few times, focusing on your clit, and a shiver ran through you as you keened loudly, clenching around nothing.

Jungkook, stop teasing,” you pouted. “I need your cock inside me.”

He smirked up at you, though you could see the sweat already forming on his forehead. “You need it inside you?” he purred. “How badly do you need it?”

“So bad,” you replied instantly, not even batting an eye at having to beg for it. “I want to suck it so bad, want you to fuck my throat until I can’t breathe, but I need it inside me more, please let me have it, I’ve been good for you,” you begged in a single breath, all sense of yourself gone as you hungered for relief.

Jungkook swore, elongated ears twitching as his hips rocked forward and he slid halfway inside. You clenched around him immediately, moaning loudly at the stretch. He paused, bringing his hand back up to the side of your head and resting on his forearms. He waited until you gave him the okay to slide the rest of the way in, his hips flush with yours. He let out a shaky breath as you clenched like a vice around him, your legs wrapping around his hips and trying to shove him in even deeper.

“Don’t do that,” he chided, breathing heavily. “I won’t last—fuck, you’re so tight.” He started to grind his hips into yours, your breasts brushing against his chest with every breath. “How are you so tight?”

“Because only your cock ever fucks me,” you teased, rocking your hips up and squeezing him.

He growled and lowered his head, nipping the tip of your nose. “Only my cock, huh?” he murmured. At your nod, he pulled out of you until only the head was inside, thrusting back inside roughly. You moaned loudly and arched your back as he held himself still inside of you. “Does this cunt only want my cock?” When you didn’t answer, he remained completely still, not even a twitch. “Does it?” he repeated.

“Yes!” you answered. “Yes, only your cock can ever satisfy me—” He pulled out halfway and started a rough and fast pace, your words breaking off into breathy moans as the sound of skin against skin and the lewd squelches of your arousal filled the room.

“Good girl,” he mumbled, leaning down and pressing a sloppy kiss on your cheek as he pounded into you. You keened in response and clenched sporadically, already feeling the build up of your second orgasm as he fucked you quick and dirty. He slid his hand down your chest, twisting your nipple with his fingers as he shifted his hips higher up and the head of his cock rubbed against the rough patch of nerves inside you. You screamed your pleasure, the sound drawing out into a long moan. He bit down on your ear, grinding his hips instead of thrusting to keep himself pressed against that spot inside of you and everything exploded inside you, the pressure in your belly snapping and colors erupting through your veins. You brought your hands to his shoulders and dug your nails in, making him growl against your skin.

“J-Jungkook, I—” You didn’t even know what you wanted to say, the orgasm rushing through you too intense to think through. You squeezed his hips between your thighs tightly as he started to move again, helping you ride out your orgasm. Your entire body shook as he thrusted into you harder, faster. “H-hurts,” you whined, squirming underneath him.

“You can take it, can’t you?” he murmured softly, letting go of your breast to bring his hand down to your clit and rub slow circles into it. Your breath hitched and you winced, but then the pain melded into just enough pleasure to have you moaning loudly and wrapping your arms around his shoulders to bring him closer to you. "You’re so good for me, aren’t you?“ You nodded your head as you sobbed out your incoherent mumbling, the pleasure building quickly and with an edge of pain as you neared your third release. He licked his lips and swallowed roughly, his thrusts getting erratic and quick. "You’re going to let me fill you up nice and good, aren’t you?”

“Yes!” you sobbed, attempting to buck up into his hand and keep up with his powerful thrusts, the lewd sounds of your skin slapping together only inducing another gush of fluid from you as you clenched tight around him, toes curling. “Yes, please fill me up!”

“You’re going to look so good, filled with my come, swelling with my baby,” he grunted, sweat dampening his hair as he got sloppy with his thrusts. You couldn’t hold off your orgasm, letting it wash through you again as you bit down on your lip. Jungkook groaned as you tightened around him like a vice, sucking him in every time he tried to pull back. He let his hand tangle in your hair and yank at it roughly as he pressed completely against you, grinding his hips and shoving his fingers harder onto your clit while you came. There were tears slipping from your eyes at the intensity of your orgasm, everything inside you tingling and your vision blurring. “I’m going to fuck you so full of my come, you’re going to take it all and love it.”

“Yes, yes, please, I want it so bad—”

Jungkook moaned loudly, biting down on your neck as he came, shoving into you hard and shallow as his seed spurted against your walls. He hissed as he rocked into you, your pussy milking him for all he had as you came down from your own pleasure. “That’s right, take all of it like the good girl you are,” he mumbled, breathless, as he rode out his high. His come filled you up impossibly, more than it. had before, and it started to spill out of you while he held himself still as he finished. You felt full, his cock softening inside of you. When he pulled out of you slowly, there was a gush of fluid that followed it, your own come mixing with his seed as it spilled.

He paused to watch it begin to drip out of you, sitting back on his knees and keeping your legs spread by holding your knees apart gently. You were panting, sweat coating the both of you with an obvious sheen. Your chests were heaving with exertion and you couldn’t even muster up the energy to move, letting Jungkook shift you as he pleased.

He brought one hand down to your sensitive folds and you whined in response as he dragged two fingers up your slit, gathering the come that had spilled from you on his fingertips before he dipped them back inside you, shoving the come back in. Your breath hitched and you couldn’t believe another round of arousal and heat was swirling in your belly at the action. He repeated it until he was satisfied that all of his release was back inside of your twitching pussy, leaving his fingers inside to work as a makeshift plug.

He lowered himself onto the bed beside you, his hand remaining between your thighs and you whined, squeezing his fingers and enjoying the hiss he let out. “Are you really going to sleep with your fingers in me?” you asked slowly.

Jungkook smirked at you wickedly. “Who said anything about sleep?” With a loud laugh, he leaned into you and smothered you with kisses as he wiggled his fingers inside of you, looking for your sweet spot and your giggles turned into moans against his lips.

“Jungkook!” you shouted, running a hand down your swollen belly as you opened the door of your small home. The sun was shining down and your eyes found who you were looking for, said goblin already lifting a small boy into his arms and spinning them around. You let a smile make its way onto your lips as you watched them for a minute, before you remembered why you’d even come out looking for him. “Jungkook!”

He turned, ears twitching as he settled your son on his hip and smiled brightly at you. The young boy’s matching ears twitched along with his father’s as his big brown eyes met yours as well, his thumb stuck in his mouth. “Yes, dear?” he called happily.

“Can you come here? Leave Eunjae to play with the other kids!” You laughed as Jungkook pouted at you, clearly not wanting to leave his child anywhere but his arms. Eventually, he relented, setting him down to waddle over to the other children playing only a few feet away, in the watchful eyes of the other parents, humans and goblins alike.

He jogged up the three stairs to the porch of your home, greeting you with a quick peck and resting his hand on your belly by instinct. “What do you need, my lovely wife?” he asked sweetly, nudging your cheek with his nose as he peppered you in kisses. You scrunched your nose and tried not to giggle at his actions, nudging at his chest lightly.

“You promised you’d move Eunjae’s stuff to the side of the room, remember?” you chirped, chuckling at his crestfallen expression. “And no, you can’t do it later—baby Dahyeon is gonna come at any time now and we need space for her crib in the room.”

Jungkook sighed, pouting his lips as he cast another look at Eunjae, who was squealing happily with the other goblin and human children. “You’re right, you’re right,” he lamented, looking down at your belly and smiling widely, green-tipped ears twitching happily. “You’re amazing, you know that?” he murmured, leaning in and pressing his mouth to yours quickly.

“I know,” you hummed, smiling and kissing him twice before pulling away. “Now, go! I need my strong husband to move everything around so I don’t have to.”

Jungkook groaned, dropping his forehead to your shoulder and nosing at your exposed throat, licking at it playfully. “Don’t get me hard, babe,” he breathed against your neck, making you shiver. “Or I’ll take you right here, in front of everyone.” He nipped at your neck playfully.

You rolled your eyes and smacked his ass with your hand, squeezing the flesh and relishing in his grunt of surprise. “Get going, mister husband.” You leaned into his ear and whispered your next words. “Maybe you’ll get lucky with my mouth later tonight.”

Jungkook straightened immediately, saluting you mockingly, his expression serious. “Yes, ma’am!” He quickly went into the home and you laughed loudly as he disappeared from your view, cheeks hurting from your smile.

You turned back to watch Eunjae, who waved happily at you before going back to play. You dragged your hand down your swollen belly and allowed the smile to soften.

You missed your family, you really did, but starting a new family with Jungkook, your husband, and feeling safe amongst people just like yourself and him, you’d never once regretted in the years since you’d found this safe haven.
