Chapter 1: Discovery

Chapter Text

The first time it happens, Shigaraki is shivering violently in the cold night air. Wearing his usual sweater and jeans combo, he rubs his arms trying desperately to heat himself up even a little. He should have brought a coat.

Kurogiri, Dabi and himself were currently waiting on their trusty black-market broker to arrive, delivering some promising new recruits to Tomura and the League, or so he claims.

“These new recruits b-b-better be fucking worth it, or I’ll d-d-disintegrate Giran myself for making me stand outside like this.” Shigaraki whines. “Why did we have to meet outside in the c-c-cold anyways? He could have just come to the fucking b-bar like last time.”

“Be patient, Tomura Shigaraki,” Kurogiri urges “has Giran let you down thus far? I’m sure he’ll arrive soon. Plus, you know the police are observing the hideout, it is safer to meet here.” trying to ease Shigaraki’s temper a little.

Shigaraki scoffs in response and continues to rub his arms and hands.

Dabi shifts his weight from side to side, impatiently fidgeting around. He glances at Shigaraki, whose lips are now bluer than his hair. Sighing, Dabi shrugs his jacket off and wraps it across Tomura’s shoulders. “I run hot anyways, so take this.”

Shigaraki’s first response is to refuse any sort of assistance, and flinch away from Dabi’s touch. But the jacket smells like a campfire and very faintly of a nice cologne, it’s still warm from Dabi’s overheated skin, and the change in temperature gives Shigaraki goosebumps. He wonders how hot Dabi’s skin must be, for him to stand there perfectly fine in the winter air like this.

Tomura accepts the jacket, but he won’t let it go that easy. Once he begins to open his mouth to produce a snarky comment, he shuts it without a word when he feels his teeth chatter voilently. Dabi considers it a silent “thank you.”

To pass the time, Dabi starts kicking a loose rock against the wall, effectively annoying Shigaraki, who threatens to disintegrate Dabi, the rock, and the wall if he doesn’t stop immediately. Dabi kicks the rock one last time before ducking out of Tomura’s reach, laughing. The meeting goes as planned, and Shigaraki is more excited just to get it over and head back to the warm confines of the base.
