Chapter Text
In a world where almost everyone has a super power, Jungkook is the odd one out.
As a child he always looked up to his elder brother who could create sparks from his fingertips. He was always fascinated by the powers of his family, but as he got older they started noticing something.
Jungkook hadn’t developed one yet.
His parents always tried to soothe his worries, but even they were worried for their child. The doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with him though, and by default he was labeled powerless . His parents mourned with their youngest child, but made sure he knew they still loved him. His brother told him time and time again that he would never abandon him, so Jungkook was okay. He was sad that he wouldn’t be able to fight like the superheroes he’d seen on the television, but his family supported him no matter what.
His parents also knew that society would target their son ruthlessly.
It was that same exact reasoning that Jungkook was homeschooled for a good portion of his life. During those times his parents taught him how to draw, dance, sing, write and speak english, solve complicated math problems, and keep him just well rounded.
They did a fantastic job at playing off Jungkook with the power to pick up anything easily. It wasn’t a super incredible power, but it would save Jungkook from the harsh reality people would show him.
What they couldn’t ever help him with however was his soulmate problem. They weren’t sure if he could even have a soulmate without a power.
For you see, the way to find your soulmate is to let your powers to guide you.
The closer you are to your soulmate the more crazy your powers will react.
With Jungkook having no powers at all, his parents and himself decided he just didn’t have one. It was a dark reality he had to face as a child, and he felt like the world was punishing him for something. But for what he couldn’t know.
So Jungkook grew up as the boy who was good at everything, and the boy who would never have a soulmate. Any time he was shown something, he would have to prove he could pick it up quickly. Even if it meant doing it for hours on end later to prove it correct in the morning. Over all Jungkook had a fairly normal life. He doesn’t have to deal with any drawbacks from his powers, and he can just be a normal guy.
At least that was how it started.
———————
It’s not like Jungkook had a bad childhood growing up. He had a great one actually. His family adored him, and his elder brother was always there to protect him.
He also had a pretty great stupid friend.
Jungkook meets Yugyeom in elementary school. He’s loud and rambunctious, but the best friend he needed. He tells Yugyeom he’s powerless on one of their sleep overs, it’s late and quiet, and the boy doesn’t say much. He tells Jungkook he won’t ever care though, and that’s all Jungkook could ever need.
It’s later on they learn Yugyeom is so loud because that’s his power. He’s able to create sonic waves with his voice that leave you dizzy.
Strangely though it isn’t as strong as most kids powers are.
When looked at by doctors Yugyeom is told that the reason his powers are so muted is most likely due to having more than one soulmate. Jungkook finds it strange, and he won’t deny he’s a tad jealous either.
But it gives Yugyeom hope that his dreams can come true.
After all the boy plans on being a hero.
Jungkook isn’t sure what to think of that growing up. Heroes both excite him and terrify him. They save the world yes, but Jungkook knows how they treat powerless folk. They don’t care about them, don’t pay attention to them, and act so cold towards them too. Jungkook doesn’t want Yugyeom being like that, so he stays close.
Yugyeom and he split to their respective schools. Yugyeom going to a school that is known for training kids as well as teaching them, and Jungkook going to a normal high school. They stay friends regardless of the time spent away from one another, and when the two graduate Jungkook is the first to know that Yugyeom is going to try being a hero.
He decides to keep his identity secret in case things don’t work out, and Jungkook thinks it’s a good idea. They formulate a plan together, find a guy to make the suit (it costs a lot Jesus Christ), and finally go out.
Jungkook begs Yugyeom to start small, and the boy agrees at first. He takes care of lowly thieves and muggers, but soon enough he grows more sure of himself. He wants more out of it all, and Jungkook fears for him.
The one thing they’ve always agreed on is that he helps the weak first, and never treats them badly.
Since Yugyeom knows about Jungkook’s situation he’s a lot nicer towards the weaker folks. He protects them first. Always staying close, and even living in the worst parts of town. It’s there that Jungkook and Yugyeom live together, a little bit away from the city, but happy nonetheless.
“Kook! I’ve got a situation!”
Jungkook’s eyes gleam with concern, “Is everything okay? What’s going on Gyeomie??”
“There’s a major villain in the city, but there are way too many civilians. I’m getting them out of here, but he’s causing too much damage,” Yugyeom informs in the comm.
“Shit, I’ve gotta call that stupid hero hotline don’t I?” Jungkook says aloud.
Yugyeom laughs, “They can help Kook, call them please.”
So Jungkook does, using the phone Yugyeom was given in case he needed backup from other heroes. They inform him they’ll send a group known as GOT6, and Jungkook hopes they aren’t assholes.
“Shit!”
Jungkook jumps hearing Yugyeom shout. He groans in pain, but Jungkook doesn’t know what happened.
“Gyeommie?! Are you okay?!” Jungkook asked worriedly.
There’s no response however and Jungkook panics locking into security cameras nearby searching for him. When he finally finds him Jungkook is horrified. Yugyeom can’t stop screaming it seems, and the villain has already been knocked out. The civilians nearby have also collapsed in a heap unable to withstand the screeching. Jungkook has never seen something like this, and can’t stop yelling into the earpiece.
Then suddenly there’s someone else landing near Yugyeom, a hero no doubt. He slides forward struggling against the waves, but once he gets a hand on Yugyeom the boy simply stops.
Jungkook finally decides enough is enough and sprints outside. He runs all the way to the site of the battle and is shocked at what he finds.
There Yugyeom is with a group of people surrounding him. He’s being held by two of them seemingly overjoyed. He’s crying and laughing and just burrows himself into these two men.
“Gyeommie?”
The boys head snaps up and he somehow smiles wider, “Kook! Kookie! Oh my god these guys are- they-“
“We’re his soulmates,” one man tells him with a grin.
Jungkook feels something like envy swirl inside his heart, but he smiles nonetheless. Yugyeom manages to get up with the others help looking weak at the knees.
“Congrats Yugyeom,” Jungkook says with a smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
The other boy seems to see something, and his eyebrows furrow. Jungkook simply shakes his head giving him a more convincing smile, or at least he hopes it is.
“I’m happy for you Gyeommie.”
———————
Yugyeom doesn’t stay in that small town much longer.
Jungkook is angry, furious really, but what is he going to say about it? Yugyeom is happy, and he understands why he needs to be with his soulmates.
He just hates being left behind.
———————
Jungkook works as a mover, but on his own time he posts music covers and paints. With his training from his parents, the boys muscles proved early on how strong he could be. His job is easy for him, and if Jungkook really wanted he could get an even better job. However he’s content with a simple life like this.
As he’s setting down another piece of furniture he notices a young boy watching something on his phone.
“BREAKING NEWS!”
“Superhero group BTS has just reported one of their members has been taken by the Nightmare King!!”
Jungkook pauses and looks over the kids shoulder at the phone.
The screen shows a recording of BTS fighting off their enemy. Everyone knows the Nightmare King is bad news despite the stupid name. He creates shadows that can implant themselves into your brain. They take you over, and can force your body to just shut down. Poof, and you’re dead.
The member taken was one of the only members able to hold a good fight against him.
The Angel of Light
That’s not really his name, but since no one knows his name they just call him that. None of the members of BTS have superhero names that they’ve given themselves, just the name the media has given them. They’re one of the only hero groups that haven’t stated there identities. Even Yugyeom now has come out with his background, (that’s expected since he joined the others forming GOT7 now.)
The names are stupid in Jungkook’s opinion.
The Human Shield
The Fiery Demon
The Angel of Light
The Mind Manipulator
The Wave Master
and
The Raging Beast
All names were given to them by the people, and Jungkook can’t stand how cringey they are. Regardless the heroes don’t seem to mind, but they are just a mysterious bunch in general.
Jungkook knows a good amount about them, it’s hard not to when they are projected into your life every day. They aren’t a bad group of people, not at all really. Jungkook just has trouble trusting that people with great powers like that aren’t in it for the money.
He’s only slightly bitter.
Jungkook gets back to work telling some god out there to look out for the hero. Despite his negative feelings towards heroes in general, he doesn’t wish that they’ll get hurt. They do help protect the city, and Jungkook trusts them enough to stay near all the danger.
Once Jungkook finishes up, he wishes the family goodbye. He takes the truck back, and then gets in his own car before heading home. On the way however he feels an uncomfortable feeling rise along his back. It makes him curl, and his shoulders tighten involuntarily.
The pain only gets worse however, and Jungkook swerves trying to regain his bearings. He feels like he’s going to pass out at this point, and the claws scraping at his insides do not help. He huffs out large breaths, and squeezes his eyes tight.
“Hoseok!”
What?
“Hobi please! Hold on!”
Who-
“Baby please just keep breathing!”
Jungkook furrows his eyebrows together in absolute confusion, before his ears start ringing. He starts screaming inside his car begging for the pain to stop. But in his state of pain and confusion he forgets to pay attention to the road ahead.
He’s too late to stop the truck that barrels into him.
———————
“Hyung please!”
Jungkook jumps into consciousness looking around. He clutches at his chest trying to remember what just happened. He can’t seem to remember how he got here though, and it confuses him even more.
What happened?
How did I get here?
Where am I?
Who...
Jungkook’s mind screeches to a halt. What’s his name..? Wait… J- Jeon…
He clutches at his hair in fear.
“Hobi!”
He spins around seeing two boys on the floor. The outfits look so familiar to him, and for some reason he remembers who these people are. He could never forget then. He’s seen them multiple times, and there’s no way Jungkook doesn’t recognize who they are.
The Angel of Light, and The Raging Beast.
The beast however looks like he’s on the verge of a breakdown.
“What happened?” he asks horrified.
He gets no response, and Jungkook kneels down, “Hey! I’m talking to you! What happened?”
Still there is no response, so Jungkook reaches out to touch him.
It surprises him even more when his hand goes straight through the boy.
He gasps in surprise, and looks at his hand closely. Sure enough Jungkook can see it’s almost translucent. He takes a deep breath and surveys the area. There are four other guys fighting giant shadows, and Jungkook shudders. It’s terrifying seeing it up close even if he knows he won’t get hurt.
“Please don’t go-”
Jungkook turns back to the two boys. He focuses on the one currently dying, and smiles sadly. It’s said that the Angel of Light has extraordinary wings on his back. No one’s ever been sure if they were actual wings or energy the man has created in the form of wings. Jungkook sits in awe looking at the soft wings in front of him. Despite the dull look they are still beautiful.
Sadly there’s not much he can do, and Jungkook hopes that maybe at least he can comfort the boy. He leans out resting a hand against his head when Jungkook is dragged in by something. It sucks him in like a vortex, and claws run up his sides.
He screams until he is forcefully dropped onto the floor.
Jungkook shakes his head wildly, and looks around confused. There he sees a boy wrapped up in a tar like substance. He screams for help, and Jungkook feels his heart stop at the evil laugh that follows.
“Oh hush now, and accept your doom,” it cackles.
Jungkook isn’t sure what pushes him to do so, but suddenly he’s sprinting forward. He feels something building inside of him, and energy courses throughout his veins. Jungkook has never experienced a sensation like this before, and with a grin he jumps straight into the black substance.
He expects to sink into it, not for it to pull away from him.
But the moment Jungkook lands in the tar, the creature screams. It recoils away, and drops the hero in the process. Jungkook catches the man, being careful of his wings, and glares sharply at the shadow. He expects to feel fear towards this creature, but instead he feels overwhelming amounts of anger. He has no idea where the feelings come from, but all he does know is that he needs to save this guy.
And beat the shit out of this thing.
Jungkook growls at the creature, and when the shadows try to attack they are stopped by a light. It envelops both him and the superhero, and Jungkook recognizes this light somehow. It’s the same kind of light The Angel would use against these shadows.
He checks to see if the boy is awake, but he has passed out. Jungkook wonders if somehow he can use his powers even while sleeping, but that seems unlikely. Regardless Jungkook lets the power and energy flow through him.
“You won’t ever be able to touch him again,” he grits out.
Energy flies from him and swirls around the creature. It’s wrapped in ropes of light, and Jungkook looks at it disdainfully it as it screams. It slowly melts away. He watches in satisfaction as it pleads for mercy.
He isn’t sure why getting revenge for the hero feels so right.
“Tae! How is he!?”
“I don’t know! The shadows stopped but he still won’t wake up!”
Jungkook looks on in awe as a screen like picture comes into view. He can see all of the heroes crowded around, and Jungkook looks at the sleeping boy in his own arms.
He smacks his face lightly in hopes of waking him up, and the boy groans in response.
“Taesh?” He slurs.
Jungkook bites the inside of his cheek, “Uh, no sorry. But you've gotta wake up.”
The hero’s eyes blink open slightly, “Who- Who are you?”
“There’s no time, later, now wake up!” He says with a shout.
The hero pushes himself up, “Ah, sorry, I don't understand though. Where are we?”
“I was hoping you could tell me that…. Why- Why did you bring me here?” he asks.
“I didn't bring you here, you brought me here,” the other boy replies.
Jungkook pauses furrowing his eyebrows. “But that's impossible? I have no idea where we are…?”
The hero squints at him, “You seriously don’t know?”
The younger boy nods, “I have no clue, I just woke up and saw you on the ground dying, and then I was brought here, and saw you being destroyed by the shadows, so then I got you out?…”
He really should figure out what’s going on before he rambles on.
“Well I suppose I should thank you then, you really got rid of The Nightmare King’s shadows?” he asks in almost disbelief.
Jungkook nods, “Yeah that shadowy thing was going to kill you, but I pulled you out.”
“Which is shocking to say the least,” he replies, “but that's only because no one can break his spell easily.”
Jungkook nods, “I know, I've seen it before... I think. Hey, are you okay?”
Jungkook notices the other boys face grow ashen. He falls forward, and Jungkook catches him quickly. His breathing is shallow, and his skin is freezing.
“Woah, hey hold on!” Jungkook shouts.
“I'm sorry, kid, but I don't think I can-”
“No!” Jungkook screams.
He isn't sure why, but he feels terrified. He doesn't want this man to die. In fact it's the complete opposite. Jungkook reaches out and tries to connect to something. Anything. Something flows out of him, and the hero gasps back to consciousness. Whatever Jungkook did though, causes an excruciating pain to tingle throughout his body.
“W-What did you do?”
Jungkook heaves, “I-I don't know but Jesus Christ that hurt.”
The hero’s eyes soften, “I don't know what you did, but thank you.”
“Heh, it's no problem Angel of Light, ” he replies.
“Hoseok, call me Hoseok,” he replies.
Jungkook pauses surprised, “Isn't it a bad idea to tell a civilian your identity?”
Hoseok laughs, “Well, you don't really know what I look like underneath this mask, so I think I'll be okay.”
“How is he Tae?!”
“I don't know?! He started convulsing, but he stopped!”
“We're almost there baby, hold on, just hold on!”
The two boys hear these voices and can see the other boys through the mirror. Jungkook feels his chest get tight, and he wants to comfort the other boys. He wants to tell them it's going to be okay, that he will always keep them safe.
He has no idea why he thinks this though.
“See? You've gotta a whole bunch of people out there waiting for you. You've got to hold on,” Jungkook says.
“I know, it's just hard when you can still feel those shadows eating at your brain,” Hoseok replies.
Jungkook steadies his grip on the other boy, and hugs him softly, “It'll be okay. There getting you help right? So just hold on a little longer.”
He nods, “Thank you, once I'm out of this let me thank you in person.”
Jungkook smiles before remembering his dilemma.
“Wait, I- I don’t know where I am,” he says quickly.
Hoseok furrows his eyebrows at him, “What do you mean?”
The younger boy bites his lip hard, “I, remember being in a lot of pain, and then suddenly I was here. I can’t remember anything before that… I can’t remember anything. Only like certain things, that aren’t really helpful.”
“Do you not know your own name?” he asks incredulously.
Jungkook clenches his hands together again, “It’s Jeon… Jeon, J- J- Dammit!”
Hoseok lightly hits his arm, “Don’t curse and calm down. We’ll figure it out okay?”
He looks down defeatedly, “Okay.”
Jungkook is surprised when Hoseok pulls him into a tight hug, and it’s then he feels the giant wings emerge from the elders back and curl around him protectively. They are extremely soft, and so so warm. They tickle along his arms, and the boy involuntarily relaxes.
“We’ll figure it out Bunny,” the hero murmurs.
Jungkook tilts his head back with a questioning look, and Hoseok laughs, “Well, you don’t know your name, but you remind me of a bunny! So, I’ll call you Bunny.”
Jungkook blinks feeling like if he remembered everything about himself he’d feel insulted. He pouts slightly, but lets the older man do it.
“You can call me hyung Bunny, I can only assume you’re younger with how soft your face is,” Hoseok says teasingly.
Jungkook again feels like he should be insulted, and lightly pushes him away, “Okay, Hoseok-hyung…”
The hero grins even brighter, and Jungkook can feel his wings warm up as well. They even glow slightly. Jungkook smiles, and gently touches the wings. He takes note of how Hoseok shivers at the touch, and the boy chuckles quietly.
“Please help!!”
Jungkook looks up along with Hoseok in curiosity. Again the tv like box shows what is happening outside. He’s not sure how he’s able to see it, but it’s like he’s peering through somebody’s eyes. He sees the inside of a hospital, and he sees Hoseok’s unconscious body. The Hoseok out there looks terrible, there’s blood running down his nose, eyes, and ears, black is curling up his hands and face, and there are terrible scratches all over him.
Jungkook feels his fists curl in anger, he wishes he could’ve been there sooner. If only he could’ve stopped this…
“Wow, I look terrible,” Hoseok mumbles beside him.
Jungkook glances at him and tries to smile, “It’s okay hyung, they’re getting you help. You’ll be good as new.”
Hoseok nods, “I know that, but… I just hope my body will be okay after I recover… My wings…”
The young boy’s eyes furrow before focusing on what the elder seems to be looking at. It’s then his eyes latch onto the torn up wings on the unconscious Hoseok out there. They also have black curling up them, and seem to be in very bad shape. Jungkook feels his heart stutter at the sight, and notices Hoseok cover his mouth in fear.
Jungkook lays a hand on the center of his back right between his wings, “It’s okay hyung. You’ll be okay. You’ll be able to fly, and I’ll come with you. We’ll fly all over the world you’ll see.”
Hoseok starts to weep however and Jungkook can’t help the way his chest tightens. He looks on as the nurses start wheeling him away. They inject him with something, and another lady rushes inside. She lays her hands on his face. It’s then light glows from those same hands and eyes.
Once the light fades she speaks, “Okay, that would’ve gotten rid of any of the other shadows plaguing him, but I worry about his wings. With him unconscious he can’t focus his light energy through them, and that’s the one area my power won’t flow through. If he doesn’t get energy flowing through them soon, they might have to be removed.”
Hoseok wails upon hearing this. Jungkook sits in absolute horror listening to the elder cry. He has no idea how he’s supposed to wake Hoseok up, but he has to do something . Jungkook growls in absolute frustration. About all of this.
About the pain, a car, no power, useless, no soulmate, abandoned
About the heroes, which he hates, horrible, society, self-centered, GOT7, BTS
About this power, which he shouldn’t have, he’s fake, a lie, weak
And about his stupid name, JEON JUKONGKO
His head starts to burn with the frustration swelling inside him, he remembers small bits. Why those? Why can’t he remember his name? Why?
Why?
Why?
WHY?
WHY?!
“WHY?!”
Jungkook’s scream echoes throughout the entire white space, throughout his body, throughout the world, and like a wild storm streams of light flies around him. Light beams shoot out of his body, no not just his, Hoseok’s as well. The energy that shoots from him wraps him up in a tight ball, and suddenly he’s flying up.
The energy crackles loudly around him; it feels almost like lightning, and he wonders why an image of a boy with sparks dancing across his fingers comes to his mind.
Then suddenly he’s out in the real world. Still invisible, still silent, but he’s here. He sees Hoseok unconscious body, and takes note of the wings that grow blacker and blacker.
“You can’t remove them!”
Jungkook turns to see a small boy screaming. There’s another one holding him back, but he looks equally upset. Then another man with dark hair steps forward, his eyes blazing red.
“You either fix this or I burn this entire place down you son of a-”
“Yoongi!” a tall man shrieks grabbing him.
‘Yoongi’ it seems does not care and fights back screaming, “LET ME GO JIN! I’M NOT GOING TO LET THEM RUIN HOBI’S LIFE- HIS WINGS ARE EVERYTHING TO HIM!”
The older man falters, but doesn’t let go. He seems at a loss for words, and finally another man steps forward. Except he isn’t focused on the people around him. He’s focused on Hoseok.
But honestly?
It seems as if he’s looking directly at Jungkook.
The boy’s brows furrow as if he’s trying to find something, but his lip purse in confusion.
“Namjoon help me!”
Namjoon looks at the two boys wrangling for power, and Jungkook watches in awe as the man with black hair erupts into flames. But in response the other’s body turns into steel protecting himself from the fire. Everyone yells, and Jungkook needs to do something. He’s not sure what, but this energy around him is telling him to do something, so…
“It’s okay, I’ll save him,” Jungkook says despite knowing they won’t be able to hear him.
He then leans down and places his hands on the almost completely black wings. He closes his eyes, and thinks of Hoseok. The elders smile, his light, his warmth, his eyes, his wings.
The energy continues to crackle around him, and with a final tip his eyes flash open.
The energy bursts, and the boy can’t help the yelp that surges it’s way out of his throat. Jungkook watches in awe as the light completely envelopes both him and Hoseok. His wings glow incredibly bright, and Hoseok rises .
His head is tipped back, still unconscious, but his eyes open revealing a glowing white. Black flies off the wings and Jungkook almost hears it scream. Jungkook leans up and holds a hand out the energy still crackling around him.
“Help him,” he whispers.
The rest of the energy surges into the hero, and the black that flew off disintegrates. Hoseok’s wings glow brighter. They grow . Then a halo of light floats over his head, and Jungkook stares in complete awe. All of the color returns to his face, and he just looks… better. Stronger.
Prettier.
And just like that Hoseok floats down onto his feet. The energy still crackles around him, and slowly his eyes return to normal. He blinks in complete shock, and turns to Jungkook standing not too far away. He opens his mouth to say something but-
“HOBI-HYUNG!”
The short boy from earlier throws himself onto the male, and sobs. Hoseok instinctively reacts holding him close, and curling his wings around the short boy. The small boy wails, and is joined by the other boy holding him before. The boys sob brokenly. Hoseok just holds them both in his, very large now, wings.
The other three boys rush forward as well, all of them in varying stages of shock. They all circle Hoseok, and the winged man beams.
“Hobi, how..?” Yoongi whispers.
Hoseok shakes his head, “I- I’m not positive but…”
He looks at Jungkook, and everyone looks over as well in confusion. Jungkook wishes they could just see him so he could talk, but…
“Someone saved me,” Hoseok says still looking at Jungkook.
“What? Who?” the steel man asks.
Hoseok grins, “Let me start from the beginning, but you have to trust me. I wouldn’t lie about this, so please believe me.”
The others glance to each other before nodding, “Okay Hobi.”
“I would also like an explanation for all of this,” one nurse mutters in absolute shock.
Hoseok grins and nods, “Okay, so you know when the shadows swarmed me right?”
The others nod grim expressions on their faces.
“I was taken under back into my subconscious, where the Nightmare King’s shadows tried to kill me-”
The short boy whimpers burying his head into Hoseok’s chest. Hobi rubs his back gently, “It’s okay Jiminnie…”
“Anyways, I was being dragged under the shadows. He was trying to stop me from using my light to drive him out, and he… he succeeded.
“But that’s not possible? You did drive them out…” the man who was watching Jungkook says.
“Don’t interrupt, Joon-ah,” Hoseok says with slight scorn.
“I couldn’t fight him,” Hoseok whispers, “but someone came to my rescue.”
The others look on confusedly, and Hoseok grins looking at Jungkook again.
“This kid, he just came out of nowhere. He ran and jumped straight into the shadows. I expected the shadows to take him too, but they pulled away dropping me in the process. I don’t remember all about what he did, but he drove them away. He saved my life.”
“How did he do that though? We didn’t see anyone there…” the other young boy says.
“I’m not sure Taehyungie, he’s not even sure how he did it…” Hoseok mumbles.
“Is that who ‘Bunny’ is?” Namjoon asks.
Hoseok lightly smacks his arm, “Don’t poke around my head Joon, but yes. He can’t remember much. He seemed so panicked Joon. He couldn’t even remember his name. Just this horrible pain, and suddenly he was dropped into all of that.”
“Where is he?” Taehyung asks.
Hoseok looks down at him with a sad smile, “He’s here Tae, I just don’t think any of you can see him…”
The others look at him in surprise and Jin asks, “What do you mean?”
“I wasn’t the one who did that last show there, I don’t know how he did it, but he used my energy… I wouldn’t say he stole it… more like borrowed it. He saved my life, and my wings,” Hoseok says with a warm smile.
Jimin looks at Hoseok his face still wet with tears, “Where is he?”
Hoseok looks back at Jungkook and points, “Right there maybe five feet from us?”
Jimin walks forward before bowing all the way down. It takes Jungkook back by surprise, and it’s even more surprising when the others join him.
“Thank you,” Jimin whispers as he looks up at Jungkook, or at least where he thinks he is, “thank you so much.”
Jungkook then feels something wet slide down his face, and he reaches up to touch it. There are tears now streaming down is face, but he isn’t sad. Why is he crying? It’s then Jungkook hears many things rolling inside his brain.
Thank you for saving him.
I don’t what I would've done if I lost him.
Thank you bunny, or whatever your name is.
Thank you.
Jungkook realizes these are all from Jimin, and he kneels down to be level with the shorter boy. He reaches out not knowing what to expect. He isn’t surprised when his hand goes through his face, but he is surprised that he wipes Jimin’s tears away. Jungkook sees the tears that stay on his finger.
Jimin gasps lightly touching his eyes, “Was that you..?”
The others look at Jimin is confusion, and Jungkook responds by using the tear once more before it disappears.
Jimin squeals, “Hobi-hyung! I felt him! He touched my face with water!”
Hoseok blinks at him in surprise, “Wait really?!”
Jungkook giggles, and smiles at Hobi, “I don’t know how, but I did… my hand went through his face, but it touched his tears… this is all a little crazy…”
Hoseok laughs, “A little? Bunny, you’ve brought nothing but crazy! But- you also saved my life, so I guess I should be a little thankful.”
Jungkook laughs along with him, “You’re welcome I guess?”
Hoseok opens his mouth to say something when the nurse interrupts, “Okay, hold on, there’s a ghost here? I didn’t think you were a medium…”
“He’s not,” says a voice in the back.
An elderly woman walks forward staring at the spot Jungkook sits in wonder, “How very interesting…”
“What is it?” Yoongi asks.
The elderly lady smiles cheekily, “Well, I know he isn’t a ghost, I would be able to see him, but what intrigues me is that he was able to use your power.”
Yoongi narrows his eyes, “Stop speaking cryptically, what is it old hag.”
Jin smacks him, “ Yoongi be respectful!”
Yoongi looks angry, but relents nonetheless, so she continues, “If this boy was able to touch the water on Jimin’s face, use Hoseok’s energy, he’ll probably be able to interact with the other’s powers as well.”
“Why is that?” Namjoon asks confusedly.
Again the lady smiles eerily, “There are two explanations, one- you seven are very similar, and his soul connected with the closest people that resembled him, two and the most logical explanation…”
“You are probably soulmates.”
The room goes dead silent, and then Hoseok jumps, “Of course! That’s why my powers reacted so strongly! It’s why my wings grew! They always grew when I found each one of you guys!”
Yoongi stares in horror, “There’s no way we have another soulmate, seriously? There’s already six of us, what good would it be to add another!?”
“Don’t be so quick to hate hyung! He might be super nice, we don’t know him!” Taehyung exclaims.
“Exactly Tae! That’s why we should be careful! What if he’s not?! ” Yoongi yells right back.
The two boys start an argument, but Jungkook doesn’t really pay attention. For some reason he feels extremely happy by this, and a tear rolls down his cheek.
“Are you okay Bunny?” Hoseok asks.
Jungkook laughs wiping away a tear, “Y-Yeah, sorry I don’t know why I’m reacting like this.”
He remembers the thoughts swirling in his head before, no soulmate , and he wonders what it means. Those words were important to him, now he needs to figure out why.
“Regardless of what you believe something happened here, Hoseok is free to go home, he is all healed now thanks to your new friend. He will come home with you all because from the way it sounds he doesn’t know how to get home either,” she states.
Yoongi does not like this idea, “We can’t invite some stranger into our home-”
“Hyung, that’s enough.”
Jungkook stares at Namjoon with surprise. The leader uses a harsh voice, immediately shutting up everyone in the process.
“Kid, come here,” he says pointing in front of him.
Jungkook does so standing in front of the elder timidly.
“I can’t see you, or hear you, but I can sense you. You’re special, and you’re coming home with us till we figure this out okay?” He says the last bit louder addressing everyone.
The others nod in agreement, and Yoongi mutters to himself angrily. Jungkook smiles and says, “Thank you very much, even if you can’t hear me.”
———————
After that Jungkook goes home with the others, it’s really hectic for a few days mainly due to Taehyung and Jimin. The two boys want to know everything about Jungkook, but the only one who can hear and see him is Hoseok. They force the elder to become their personal translator, and Jungkook knows how tired he is.
So Jungkook comes up with another plan. He can interact with certain things, light, fire, and water. So the three boys come up with a yes or no question game. It isn’t easy due to the fact Jungkook doesn’t remember anything before meeting them, but it’s nice being able to semi talk to someone again. The two boys are a rambunctious bunch, and Jungkook loves watching them. He’s even followed them out sometimes.
So for the next few weeks Jungkook integrates himself into their lives. It’s pretty easy seeing as he isn’t really there, but it’s fun for the boy. He learns all sorts of things,
Like How Jin is the oldest, and was really the one who decided to make BTS. The eldest has an amazing power of creating his body into different substances. Whether it be iron, crystal, or rubber. He protects the others from danger, and is really scary in battle. The only thing is that he has to have the item near him. It’s why he carries certain things in his pocket so he can use them.
Yoongi scares Jungkook. Albeit Yoongi can’t hurt him, can’t see him either, but the elders cold stare and harsh words make Jungkook uncomfortable. He learns from Jimin, that Yoongi is just very cautious, and is always worrying about the others. He has the power to manipulate fire. It’s powerful and strong, but the drawbacks are just as severe. He can’t control how hot the fire burns, but he’s been trying for years.
Hoseok, Jungkook is of course the closest to. They talk a lot, and Hoseok takes him everywhere. They even go flying! Jungkook wasn’t really sure how it would be possible but he imagined flying with the sunny man, and it happened.
Namjoon was another of his favorites, he loved listening to him talk. The boy was smart, incredibly so. He has the power to brainwash people, and he can pick up on some thoughts. He can’t really read your mind, but he gets whispers. He can also move things with his mind too! Never heavy stuff, but small objects. He doesn’t know how to really control it yet.
Jimin is just plain adorable to Jungkook. He’s tiny and soft and so fluid. It doesn't help that he’s so beautiful either. Jimin’s a caring soul. Jungkook sees all the time how affected he gets by members getting hurt, and yet he has no problem getting hurt himself. Jimin can control water, and uses it to push back enemies. He can also make ice as well, but only sometimes since he can’t really control it. But he uses it to help out Yoongi when his drawbacks get bad.
Taehyung is the one who talks to Jungkook the most, Jungkook can’t really talk back so he listens. The boy loves talking, and he tells Jungkook everything. How his powers came about, his family, the others and how they met, and even his insecurities. Jungkook thinks it’s easier for Taehyung to tell someone he can’t see rather than the members… Taehyung can shapeshift into different animals, and sometimes different people. He just doesn’t have a good grasp on it yet.
So Jungkook doesn’t mind not being seen, it’s way too busy around here to fret about it.
———————
“Hyung?”
Jungkook looks up from his spot next to Hoseok. Taehyung stands not too far from the pair. His eyes seem watery, and his mouth twitches strangely. Hoseok sighs softly glancing at Jungkook before holding his arms to the boy.
Taehyung runs forward diving into them quickly. Hoseok’s wings come out as well, wrapping the boy up tightly. Taehyung’s shoulders shake silently, and Jungkook’s heart hurts a tad upon seeing it.
“It’s okay TaeTae, I’m here, I’m not leaving,” Hoseok whispers.
Taehyung lets out a broken sob, “I’m sorry, I should’ve been faster- You sacrificed yourself and you almost died because I-“
“No, no, no, Tae? Honey? You need to calm down okay? I know you're scared, but I’m here. I am not leaving you anytime soon got it?” Hoseok mumbles into his ear.
Hoseok rocks back and forth whispering soft things to the crying boy. Taehyung finally relaxes into the elders hold, and the crying slowly fades.
Hoseok pets his hair gently, “Now you listen, and you listen well. What happened last night was not your fault. It could’ve been anyone he targeted sweetie, and he knew that no matter who it was I’d get in the way to protect them. He decided it was going to be you honey, and that’s not your fault.”
Taehyung whimpers, “I was so scared, hyung. I thought you were gonna die, and I just- Jiminnie was so scared, and the others were so busy trying to calm down Yoongi-hyung-“
“So you weren’t able to let out your grief,” Hoseok states, “aish, Tae you know the others will always be here to comfort you. They love you so much honey, we love you so much.”
Taehyung sobs, “I just didn’t know what to do! Jiminnie needed me, but I was so scared and it all came back so quickly. I know you’re fine hyung, but I was so scared …”
Hoseok kisses the side of his head, “It’s okay sweetheart, you did such a good job helping Jiminnie out I bet. You need to think about yourself though okay? You deserve that same comfort, you always will.”
Taehyung nods into his chest, “Thank you- Thank you Hobi-hyung. I love you- I love you so much-“
He then kisses the younger boy gently stifling the words softly. Jungkook slides away feeling very awkward and a tad happy. He’s glad Hoseok is able to ease Tae’s worries, and Jungkook decides to leave the pair as they melt into one another.
———————
“So how exactly did you form BTS?”
Jungkook sits on a couch in the shared living room watching tv. The boys have a interview today, and Jimin as well as Taehyung made sure the tv was set on the right channel so he could watch.
“Well, The Angel and I knew each other for quite a long time. We dreamed of being heroes, but neither of us were sure how to go about it. We then met the Shield later on, and together the three of us started taking down measly criminals,” Namjoon states with this air of authority.
“I see!” the interviewer exclaims with mock enthusiasm, “and the others just followed?”
Hoseok nods fervently, “Yup! We found the Demon and Wave later, and finally our Beast joined us!”
The lady gives a nod before her lips curl in this strange smile, and Jungkook knows whatever she’s about to ask is not going to go well. It seems Namjoon senses this as well, because his eyes widen and he tenses up.
“So, we all never got to hear how you escaped the Nightmare King, Angel of Light,” she says with a grin.
Hoseok’s mouth opens, and Jungkook can tell he doesn’t want to talk about this. Hoseok stumbles over his words there, and the lady is just living for it. Jungkook glares at the television, and stands up angrily.
Gosh he just wants to punch her in her fu-
“Bun?”
Jungkook looks at Hoseok who is now in front of him. Jungkook spins around realizing he is now at the radio station.
“Bun?” the lady asks confusedly.
Hoseok flushes, “Ah, sorry I just saw something. I remembered a friend….”
“Oh? Was this a personal friend? I can’t imagine her real name being Bun,” the lady says getting onto a new topic.
Hoseok swallows thickly, “I think we should go back to the question before.
The lady knows she’s getting Hoseok all riled up, and Jungkook slides next to the boy silently. He stays near him, and gently touches his wings. Hoseok twitches slightly glancing at Jungkook curiously. The youngest simply grins.
“It’s okay Hobi-hyung, I know she’s being a total bitch right now, but I’ll beat her up later,” he says with a cheeky smile.
Hoseok’s mouth twitches up, and he lets out a breath.
“When the Nightmare King attacked we were swarmed by his shadows-”
“So you weren’t prepared?” the lady counters.
Jungkook notices Yoongi seething, “Listen lady-”
Jimin grabs onto Yoongi quickly trying to shut the angry man up hurriedly.
“Hyung,” Jungkook whispers, “be strong. Don't let her walk over you.”
Hoseok smiles and squares his shoulders
“Have you ever felt claws scratching you from the inside?” he asks.
The lady’s eyebrows furrow, “Uh, no? I don’t understand why that matters.”
Hoseok gives her a tight smile, “That’s what it feels like to have a shadow attack you. It enters into you before you even have time to process it. It attacks you from the inside. Do you know how to kill something that’s inside you?”
The lady shakes her head with wide eyes.
“That’s what I thought,” Hoseok says snidely, “those things shut down your entire body, and it’s a miracle I’m still here. You have no idea what that’s like. He gets into your head, and drowns you in darkness, but guess what?”
Hoseok grins triumphantly, puffing out his chest, “ We Won. ”
———————
“What are they doing?” Jungkook asks.
Hoseok looks over his shoulder grinning, “Playing Overwatch. It’s not my kind of thing, but Taehyung especially loves it.
Jungkook watches the screen adamantly, his eyes hypnotized by the characters. Hoseok giggles, and the others glance over at him curiously. Hoseok smiles softly.
“Bunny here has never seen Overwatch, I think he’s a bit mesmerized,” Hoseok tells them.
“Hyung!” Jungkook exclaims embarrassed.
“You don’t know what Overwatch is!!” Taehyung exclaims rather than asks.
“BuNNy,” Taehyung vibrates from the ground, “I have so much to teach you.”
Jungkook stares at Taehyung, and can’t stop the loud laugh that bellows out of him. He sits beside the boy, so he can look at the screen better. Taehyung tells him about the characters, and for some reason he feels a strange connection to D. Va.
“She’s connected to Busan like me,” Jimin says idly.
Jungkook pauses for a moment letting the word roll off is tongue.
Busan.
Why is that so familiar?
———————
“Hobi-hyung is Bunny around?” Taehyung asks curiously.
Jungkook looks up seeing the boy’s stance and immediately knows Taehyung wants to have one of their little secret talks. Hoseok nods pointing to Jungkook. Taehyung turns to him already holding out a candle.
“Do you wanna come with me for a sec Bun?” he asks almost shyly.
Jungkook smiles standing up so he can flicker the light once for yes when the flame goes out. Both Taehyung and Jungkook look down surprised, and Jin sighs loudly. The two boys look over to see Yoongi. His teeth are clenched, and his shoulders are hunched over.
“Hyung? What’s wrong?” Taehyung asks cautiously.
Yoongi laughs humorlessly, “Hah! Oh nothing, I’ll just talk to good precious bunny, not my actual soulmates.”
Taehyung clams up biting the inside of his mouth, “Hyung, it’s not like that it’s just-”
“Just what?” Yoongi asks getting into Tae’s face.
The younger shrinks back under his gaze, “I just-”
“Yoongi that’s enough,” Jin scolds.
“You cannot seriously be siding with them right now,” he growls.
Yoongi’s fingers light up, and his eyes glow, “It’s always, Bunny this- Oh Bunny let’s play- Come with me Bunny- I wanna tell you something- Bunny Bunny Bunny!”
Jungkook looks away sadly, feeling his chest tighten. The others start to get on edge, but he knows that it’s never easy to stop Yoongi when he gets like this. That doesn’t mean that Taehyung is going to back down either though.
“We’re friends hyung! Besides he might be our soulmate, not mine. Ours! ” Taehyung yells.
Yoongi shakes his head laughing, “We don’t even know him Tae. Yet you tell him everything ?! Are you kidding me?!”
Taehyung lets out a growl that sounds way too animalistic. The others rise, because Taehyung will scream and yell, but if the animal comes out of him it isn’t pretty. Yoongi doesn’t back down though. He gets into Taehyung’s face even more. Taehyung growls louder, his bones starting to crack. The others move to them quickly getting in between the two.
“Brat! You ungrateful brat! We do everything for you, and you would rather trust this stranger ?!”
“Oh what? So I can’t have secrets but you can?! Are you SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?!”
“Taehyung you shut your mouth you have no idea-”
“REALLY?! No idea- Are you shitting me?! You don’t know me hyung! None of you ever listen enough to know me!”
“What the fuck does that mean?!”
“ IT MEANS THAT YOU FUCKED UP!!”
Yoongi starts to light up on fire, and Jungkook sees Taehyung’s hands start to grow into claws. All the youngest can do however is simply watch as the couple scream. They become even more wound up. He doesn’t know what to do, but he can’t sit here…
It’s only when Yoongi shoves everyone off, and the fire truly lights does Jungkook attempt to get in the way. Yoongi doesn’t think as his fire erupts, and heads towards the group holding Taehyung. Jungkook can see the moment Yoongi realizes his mistake, and the elder screams in horror.
Jungkook gets in the middle, praying the fire can hit him. Hit him. Hit him. Hit him.
And it sure does.
The fire doesn’t just hit Jungkook it enters him.
Jungkook screams as fire swirls inside of him, and it feels like burns are spreading all over his body. Upon looking he sees they really are . Burns appear all over him, and Jungkook collapses feeling the pain.
Why does he feel the pain?
Why can’t he feel something else?
———————
A week later, and Yoongi has yet to apologize. Jungkook notices that the burns heal normally, as if he was really burnt. He doesn’t know why that is, but he’s okay so that’s good.
Hoseok doesn’t leave his side, and Taehyung doesn’t either. It’s in those moments Jungkook really starts bonding with the two, even if Taehyung still can’t hear him. The others split off respectively as well. Jimin constantly stays with Yoongi who won’t talk to anyone but Jimin. Jin and Namjoon try to alleviate the situation, but even the parents of their group can’t do anything to help.
“Hobi-hyung?” Jungkook asks in the dark.
Hoseok looks over at him from his spot on the bed. Taehyung sits in his lap playing on his phone like normal, but Jungkook can’t stop thinking.
“What’s up Bun?” The elder asks.
Jungkook scrunches his face up, “I just, why does Yoongi-shi hate me so much?”
Hoseok’s eyes soften, “Oh Bunny, he doesn’t hate you it’s just… he’s not very trusting. It took awhile for him to open to us, and he knew we were soulmates.”
“Plus he’s jealous,” Taehyung pipes up.
Hoseok nods, “And he’s jealous, which I understand I really do, but he just went about it in a horrible way.”
Taehyung snorts, “Yeah, a really shitty way.”
Hoseok lightly smacks him, “Don’t say that Tae, you’ve had plenty of jealous moments that have spiraled out of control.”
“Well at least I apologized,” Taehyung bites back.
“He has a point you know,” Jungkook pipes up, “I get it because Yoongi-shi can’t see me or hear me… but what he did really hurt. It hurt me both physically I guess and emotionally, and I just, I don’t know hyung,” Jungkook struggles to form his words into a coherent sentence.
“No I get it Bunny,” Hoseok tells him, “it wasn’t okay, and he will apologize. He can’t stay mad forever.”
———————
And Yoongi does apologize.
To Taehyung that is.
When the others leave Yoongi to apologize to Jungkook he simply says.
“I don’t like you, but thanks for saving them I guess .”
Jungkook feels horribly rejected.
———————
It’s on a normal day they get the call.
There’s a villain attacking civilians in the city, and they can’t get it under control. He’s known as the Freezer.
Stupid name, Jungkook thinks.
What he doesn’t notice is the others tensing up, and Yoongi starting to smoke.
The others gear up, and head out telling Jungkook goodbye. What they don’t know is that Jungkook follows them. Well Hoseok knows, but he keeps quiet about it. He’s curious about their fighting. He saw them fight the shadows, but he wants to see them in battle again.
And he’s worried.
The scene of the battle is wild. Roads and buildings are frozen solid, and people are screaming in fear. What startles the youngest the most is that people have been frozen. And they wear expressions of horror.
“Well, well, well, isn’t it my favorite superhero bunch?”
Jungkook looks up seeing a man covered in ice, with a mask. He grins tauntingly at them, and Jungkook notices Yoongi curling up. The man takes note of it as well it seems because he’s grinning wider and staring directly at the second eldest.
“Hello dear,” he says snidely.
Yoongi’s shoulders hunch, and Jungkook sees his teeth clench. Jimin comes up from behind resting a hand on his wrist. There’s some silent agreement there, and Yoongi relaxes into the hold slightly. This seems to anger the villain quite a lot.
“You shouldn’t have left Yoongs,” the man mutters angrily.
He then shoots down a beam of ice, but the elder is faster. His hand flies out and an explosion of fire erupts from his palm. The two cancel out, and now the males are glaring heatedly.
“The day I regret that choice is the day I die,” Yoongi spats.
The villain surges forward, and Yoongi runs up as well, fire dancing across his skin. Jungkook watches in awe as the two fight for dominance, and how the fire and ice are constantly battling one another on the ground.
The others go to help, but Yoongi continues to push them back. There’s a lot more to this situation than he knows, and it confuses Jungkook more and more.
Beam after beam.
Pow after pow.
The battle continues on without a hint of stopping.
And it’s one slip up that causes everything to go south.
Yoongi’s body starts to burn, and Jimin surges forward. Fear dances across his face. The villain notices, and with Jimin distracted he binds him to the floor. Jimin collapses his feet stuck against the pavement. The others scream out in worry, but Jimin can’t escape. The villain lands in front of him holding his palm out threateningly.
“Back off or I freeze him to death,” he says grinning.
The others literally freeze on spot (no pun intended), and Jungkook can see Yoongi seething. Fire erupts from his eyes and hair, and now Jungkook understands why they call him the Fiery Demon. He really looks like one.
“Ah, there’s my beautiful monster,” the man says tauntingly.
Yoongi growls, “I am not yours , I will never be yours !”
The man glares shooting a beam of his at Jimin’s shoulder.
“JIMIN!”
The smaller boy screams out in pain, and everyone yells out in concern. Jungkook once again feels anger coursing through him. He wants to do something. He needs to. Jimin is being hurt and all he is doing is watching!
Jungkook feels heat spread along his back, through his palms, his feet, his eyes.
He feels it swirling inside him, and anger pours out of him like lava. He starts visibly shaking, and heaves out smoke. Everything is so hot, he’s burning. He’s burning, he-
“Bunny?”
Jungkook sees Hoseok staring at him in worry, and the others look to the elder curiously. Jungkook simply blinks, before focusing on that fire.
It’s Yoongi’s.
Jungkook knows it is.
He looks at the elder’s body. He may not be able to see his face, but Jungkook knows how scared he is, how angry he is. He can feel it. Jungkook wants to help, always has. Yoongi may not trust him, may hate him with a burning passion, but Jungkook knows he cares for the others. He loves them to death. Jungkook sees it everyday .
With the way he holds Jin to keep him warm.
The way he lets Hoseok drag him around like a toy.
When he stays up late with Namjoon making music.
How he kisses Jimin like he’s the most precious thing on this planet.
And the way he stares at Taehyung, while sometimes with anger, mainly with a burning love for the boy.
So yeah,
He’s definitely going to beat the shit out of this guy.
Jungkook thinks to himself, ‘this is for Yoongi, no matter how much it hurts to be rejected this is for him. I have to do this.’ But when he takes that step forward, static starts ringing in his ears, and he feels the fire grow hotter . It hurts. It hurts. It hurts .
JEON JUNOKGKO
Jungkook screams out in agony, and suddenly fire erupts from his entire body. There’s an explosion of it, as it swirls around him. Yes it burns, it hurts, but then suddenly it doesn’t. It becomes warm, gentle, and Jungkook relaxes into it. This is Yoongi’s fire. It’s hurt him in the past, burned him to a crisp, but he knows he’ll accept it over and over again. He’s not sure he even has a choice at this point.
His eyes then flash open, and Jungkook notices the Villain starring in his direction in shock.
Jungkook growls, “Back off you son of a bitch!”
Fire flies from him in a controlled manor. It hits the man dead on knocking him off of Jimin, and burning him thoroughly. The man lets out a pained wail, and the others look on in wonder. Jungkook sees the fire take shape, and creates a circle of fire. It traps the man.
“How did you do that?”
The youngest looks at Yoongi, who is staring at the villain in bemusement. He then turns to Jungkook with wide eyes.
The youngest smiles shyly looking at Hoseok for help.
“I can see you kid.”
Jungkook jumps in surprise, “You can?!”
Yoongi nods, “Yeah, how did you do that? I don’t even think I can control my fire like that.”
“But you did! That was your fire Yoongi-shi, that was you!” the boy exclaims.
The elder tilts his head studying him for a moment. His eyes bear into Jungkook, and this time Jungkook knows Yoongi is looking at him so it makes it a bit more intimidating.
And then,
“You can call me hyung kid.”
Jungkook’s entire face lights up, and Yoongi looks away smiling. It’s then however that he sees Jimin still on the floor, so he rushes towards the boy.
His feet are still trapped underneath the ice, and the others try to find a way to get him out.
“Can’t you just melt it hyung?” Jungkook asks.
Yoongi scowls, “I told you kid, I can’t control it. I’ve gained control through the members, but even still…”
“Try it now,” Hoseok says.
Jungkook and Yoongi both look at him curiously, “Why?”
“My powers grew significantly after I met Jungkook, maybe he’s able to help you control it,” he says.
Yoongi still looks doubtful, but he focuses his fire into his palm. His eyes close, and then the fire grows. It grows hotter incredibly so, and then it grows colder into a softer heat. His eyes open in surprise.
“I made it cooler,” he whispers.
“I controlled the temperature!” Yoongi exclaims.
Hoseok grins, “Told you he was special.”
Yoongi lightly hits him before melting off the ice carefully. They find a nearby medic, and she heals everyone up. Jungkook watches the city around him carefully, feeling a sense of deja-vu go through him. He’s been here.
“You good kid?”
Jungkook looks at Yoongi who is watching the boy carefully.
“Ah, yeah.. Sorry it’s just, I think I’ve been here that’s all. It’s annoying not being able to remember everything,” he whispers.
Jungkook feels a flame collide with his cheek, and he blinks back in surprise, “Chill out kid, we’ll figure it out.”
“We? I thought you hated me hyung,” Jungkook states a bit more boldly.
“Aish this brat,” Yoongi says teasingly.
Yoongi bites his lip though, hard enough to draw blood, “Listen Bun, I… I’m sorry. I was a total ass to you, I even burned you, hurt you, and didn’t even apologize. That was really fucked up I’m sorry.”
Jungkook smiles kind of sadly, “It doesn’t excuse everything hyung, but thank you. I think as long as you help me we can patch things up…”
Yoongi’s face grows a bit more sentimental however and he says, “You saved us kid, you saved Jimin, and beat that guy’s ass. Of course I’m gonna help you.”
The pair pause just looking at each other when Jungkook feels curiosity tingling at his brain.
“Who was he?” Jungkook asks softly.
Yoongi grimaces, “Another time, let’s go home okay?”
He pouts in slight disappointment, but follows the elder anyways. They return home, and watch movies until everyone falls asleep. He doesn’t miss the way Yoongi smiles at him though, and Jungkook smiles back with glee.
———————
Jungkook and Yoongi decide to take a moment for themselves one night. They sit outside on the steps to their house, and watch the stars.
“Yoongi?”
The elder turns behind him, and Jungkook looks up to see Jin. He looks tired, and like he’s ready to pass out in about three seconds.
“Hyung, what’s wrong? I figured you’d be asleep,” Yoongi asks.
“It’s too cold,” he mumbles, “I can’t sleep.”
Yoongi’s eyes soften, “Okay, hyung. Let me grab my stuff, and say goodnight to Bunny.”
Jin pauses there, “Oh, is the kid here?”
Yoongi nods, and Jin slides down the steps before sitting next to Yoongi. He curls up into the youngers side, and Jungkook notices how just by being near the fiery man Jin relaxes even more.
“You can stay out a bit longer, besides I haven’t gotten to talk to him much,” Jin says quietly.
Jungkook smiles warmly, “You don’t have to, I’m fine exploring a bit before morning.”
Yoongi translates and Jin shakes his head, “No it’s fine Bunny, besides you might be my soulmate, so of course I’ll stay with you.”
Jungkook feels a warmth spread inside his heart, and Yoongi chuckles upon seeing his expression.
“What is it?” Jin asks.
Yoongi grins, “Bun here seems really happy hearing that hyung. I think he might be smitten.”
Jungkook squawks in protest, but Jin laughs loudly cutting him off, “I mean it’s pretty hard to deny these good looks~”
Jungkook then blinks in absolute surprise and horror hearing this. He gets up and starts walking away shaking his head.
“Bunny wait! He does that a lot please don’t leave me with him!”
“What does that mean?!”
——————
“Ow!”
Jungkook looks up curiously at the exclaim. He walks to the kitchen and sees Jin clutching his hand. It looks like he cut it pretty bad, and blood seeps out of the wound. Jungkook’s eyes widen, and he runs looking for Hoseok or Yoongi. He finds both actually since they’re cuddling on the couch, and he blushes walking in on them sharing a tender kiss.
“Ah, uh, hyungs?” Jungkook asks timidly.
The boys look up and Yoongi asks, “What’s up Bun?”
“Uh, Jin-hyung, he uh hurt his hand it looked kind of bad,” Jungkook mumbles.
Hoseok jumps up and runs towards the kitchen hearing this, and Yoongi motions for Jungkook to follow. They walk and see Hoseok grabbing a first aid kit and setting down next to Jin. The eldest looks up surprised.
“How did you know I was hurt?” he asks surprised.
Yoongi chuckles, “Bunny here saw you, and got us. You made him all worried hyung.”
Jin huffs out a laugh, “Sorry Bun, didn’t mean to worry you, and thanks for getting the others.”
Jin doesn’t know where Jungkook is standing, but regardless he sends him the most beautiful smile.
Jungkook feels butterflies fly in his stomach.
——————
“Hyung it’s snowing! Come outside with me!”
Jungkook looks to see Taehyung frantically grabbing Namjoon’s shirt. The leader looks exasperated, and very tired. Taehyung doesn’t let up though, and whines even more. Namjoon’s gaze slides over to where Jungkook resides, and he’s obviously sending a sign for help.
Jungkook laughs, and then using the candles nearby he flickers them all. Taehyung looks up curiously before grinning wildly.
“Bunny! I didn’t know you were here!” he exclaims.
Jungkook smiles flickering once for yes. Taehyung grins even wider before getting a look on his face.
“Have you seen snow before Bunny?” he asks.
Jungkook pauses at this question because he really has no idea on how to answer. He can’t remember if he has, but he tries to think back. It’s kind of hazy but he thinks he sees a young boy laughing in the snow. Jungkook pouts, but flicks the flame for yes again.
Taehyung beams, “Good! It would’ve been a crime if you hadn’t.”
Namjoon chuckles, “Why don’t you take Bun outside?”
Taehyung seems to like this idea before he pauses again giving the leader a pitiful look.
“Can everyone come? I want to make a snowman with you,” he says whipping out the puppy dog eyes.
Jungkook snorts seeing the moment the leader succumbs to the boy. He makes a face before sighing and nodding. Taehyung squeals plopping a kiss on Namjoon’s lips, and Jungkook can tell by the pleased hum Namjoon appreciates the payment for it.
Jungkook wishes he could feel them too.
——————
The snowflakes falling from the sky are really beautiful.
It’s strange not feeling cold at all, but Jungkook supposes that’s a good thing. Namjoon managed to wrangle the others outside, even Yoongi who hates the cold. Taehyung looks over the moon by this development, and Jungkook traces his smile softly.
“God you’re so gay Bunny.”
Jungkook jumps in surprise before turning to see Hoseok grinning cheekily at him. The youngest’s face burns red, and he stammers awkwardly. Hoseok simply giggle waving a hand nonchalantly.
“Relax Bun, I get it…” Hoseok says softly staring at Taehyung as well, “he’s gorgeous.”
Jungkook smiles and nods, “I wish he could see me. I love listening to Tae, but sometimes I feel so sad that I can't tell him what he deserves to hear.”
“Which is what?” Hoseok asks confusedly.
Jungkook smiles sadly at his hyung shaking his head. Taehyung’s secrets are his, even if he shared them with Jungkook the boy knows he has no right to say anything about them.
“They aren’t my secrets to tell,” he says simply.
——————
Once the boys finished the snowman, that was fucking ten feet tall jesus christ, Taehyung very sneakily gathers the snow in a small pile; he smiles widely as he forms a ball in his hand.
“Taehyung don’t you-”
Namjoon is hit square in the face unable to stop the snowball, despite knowing exactly what Taehyung was doing. He wipes the snow off his face giving the second youngest a deadpanned look. Taehyung simply cackles in response, but is cut off when he’s hit by another snowball.
Jungkook looks to see Jin grinning, “Take that brat!”
Taehyung grins ear to ear, “Oh it’s on!”
After that it’s practically a whole brawl, and Jungkook stands to the side observing it all take place. Taehyung and Jimin form a duo that is practically unstoppable. Taehyung is not only competitive but extremely fast, and there’s water in snow, so of course Jimin is going to be good at this.
The hyungs quickly realize this is a losing battle, and Yoongi retreats at one point standing next to Jungkook. He huffs loudly, and Jungkook notices steam coming off of Yoongi’s skin. Jungkook giggles and continues watching the others play. He feels a little sad he can’t participate, but there isn’t much he can do either.
“It’s okay kid,” Yoongi says softly.
Jungkook looks at him curiously and Yoongi looks at him with a gentle stare, “You’ll be able to join soon enough, and when that happens you’ll have to protect your hyung okay?”
Jungkook stares at Yoongi for a moment there, feeling another part of his heart shift. The youngest smiles brightly, and Jungkook wonders if the light is playing a trick on him when he sees Yoongi’s cheeks grow redder.
“Thanks hyung,” he laughs, “but I think I’d rather beat you all up in a snowball fight.”
“Brat.”

“Are you okay Jiminnie?”
Jungkook watches sadly seeing the small boy being held tightly in Yoongi’s arms. They had to fight a villian who uses fire, and Jimin pushed himself way past his limit. He seems so tiny , well more tiny than normal, and it doesn’t bode well with Jungkook.
Yoongi seems just as distraught trying to comfort the boy as best he can. He can tell Yoongi is heating his body up to help calm the boy, but Jimin just looks so weak. Taehyung turns into a dog and curls up in Jimin’s lap hoping to further ease his worries.
Jungkook isn’t sure why, but he feels a tear slip out of his eyes. He feels guilt, sadness, fear, and pain. God his heart hurts. Jungkook knows that these feelings come from the others. Their guilt from not being able to protect him. Their sadness for not being able to help him now. The fear they could’ve lost him. The pain Jimin is in now, as well as the others broken hearts.
The youngest squares his shoulders, he can’t be here right now. Everything about this is too much for him, he hates not being able to help.
So he disappears pretending like he doesn’t hear Hoseok out to call him.
——————
Everyone is fast asleep, when Jungkook hears the scream for help.
It echoes throughout his mind, and Jungkook runs to the source. The others all asleep together in two large beds pushed together, but what Jungkook takes note of is Jimin sitting up. His eyes are slightly open, but he seems as if he has no idea where he is.
“Jiminnie?”
The boy doesn’t seem to hear him, and gets up from the bed. He walks around the entire house still wearing this dazed expression. Finally Jimin stops in the center of the living room. He starts muttering things to himself.
“No, please.”
“Don’t hurt me.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Please.”
Jimin collapses onto the ground heaving out lungfuls of air. Jungkook settles in front of him even if he can’t see him, and starts talking.
“Jimin it’s okay, you’ve got to calm down, please you’ve gotta breathe, Jimin please just hear me!”
Jungkook can feel himself getting stressed out and scared. He doesn’t understand what’s happening, he’s scared. He’s scared.
Why is he so scared?
Jungkook realizes he’s sensing Jimin, all of that anxiety Jimin is facing and the unbearable weight; he can feel it.
The feelings swirl inside him, move side to side, and finally Jimin and Jungkook reach a breaking point.
Jimin lets out a wail that echoes throughout the whole house, and Jungkook screeches. He sees horrifying images dance across his mind.
A man screaming, blood, gore, weapons, scars, red eyes, and a monster in the shape of a human.
There’s ice, and water, and screaming. Jimin’s drowning, he’s being drowned . Then there’s another boy crying, he’s hugging Jimin and sobbing. He sees a woman kicking him over and over again anger on her face. He sees Jimin bound by ice, and being hit over and over. His eyes seem dead, and he’s not even making any noise. Jungkook can still hear him screaming though, and he clutches his head in pain and fear and anger.
Jimin’s memories flash through his head, and Jungkook understands. Jimin was abused, he doesn’t know by who, but he can see it. Feel it.
It makes Jungkook unbelievably angry.
The vases nearby filled with water shatter. The water swirls around the two boys forming a circle, and its then Jungkook realizes the others are there too.
“Bunny, what’s happening?!” Hoseok exclaims.
Jungkook can’t respond however, he’s trying to sort through his thoughts, the memories forcing themselves into his head. He screams out in agony, and the water starts spiking out in response.
“Kid, calm down!”
“Bun!”
Jungkook can’t process it anymore though. There’s too much.
He can see everything.
“Jimin dear have you figured out how to control it?”
“Ah, sorry eomma, I still-“
“Pathetic, your father won’t be happy about this.”
“Appa please I’m sorry! I’ll do better I promise!”
“Pathetic, worthless, stupid, good for nothing brat!”
“Faster Jimin, be faster.”
“I’m trying .”
“Not enough. Again.”
“Pathetic, your brother could do 50 more of these without collapsing.”
“Please eomma, I’m so tired, I can’t move.”
“Get up. No slacking boy.”
“You what?”
“I met my soulmate Appa-“
“No, absolutely not, you will cut ties with her immediately.”
“He’s a boy Appa, and no. I won’t.”
“You dare disobey me? ”
“Yes he does. Now back off before I burn you to a crisp.”
“You’ll regret this son.”
“No, I don’t think I will.”
Once again static rings throughout his ears, his body turns into jelly, and the water stops. It floats down to Jimin, swirling around his body, and finally Jimin relaxes. The water seems to help, and Jungkook relaxes as well.
JEON JUNGKOKO
The water finally stops, and Jimin’s eyes flutter open. He lets out a shaky breath, before his eyes connect with Jungkook’s. He looks directly at him, and the water floating around him bursts into fluid motions swirling around him wildly. Until finally-
It turns into ice.
“Jimin! Your water!” Namjoon exclaims.
“Jiminnie you did it!” Jin follows.
Said boy continues to just stare at Jungkook, before he beams.
“Thanks to you Bunny,” he whispers.
“Can you see me?” Jungkook asks.
Jimin grins, “I can see you, thank you kiddo. That was a really bad flashback I guess.”
Jungkook nods a sad smile on his face, “I know… I-I’m sorry hyung, you deserved better.”
“Wait, Jimin you can see Bunny now?!” Taehyung exclaims.
Jimin grins, “Yup! I win!”
Taehyung pouts sadly, “But I wanted to see him first…”
“If we’re talking about first I think I win right?” Hoseok asks teasingly.
Jungkook rolls his eyes laughing, “This isn’t a competition guys, besides the others will be able to see me soon enough... I think.”
“Oh it’s definitely a competition,” Jimin states cheekily.
Jungkook simply rolls his eyes before sighing, “Are you okay Jiminnie?”
“That’s hyung to you,” Jimin says snidely, “but yes, I’m okay.”
Jungkook looks at Jimin with slight disbelief, and the elder must see it because he asks everyone to leave. The others go to ask why, but Yoongi stops them. They go back to their room, and Jungkook has an idea that they are going to be listening very closely.
“Bun, I wanna tell you a story,” Jimin says with a sad smile.
Jungkook nods shifting himself on the floor. Jungkook’s knees press close to Jimin’s and he notices them phase through the other. Slightly grossed out, Jungkook moves back a bit, and Jimin chuckles softly.
“Okay, I’m gonna tell you something really important okay? It’s not a fun story,” the boy says.
Jungkook nods, “I know hyung, I’m here to listen.”
Jimin smiles at the boy, “Where I grew up it was known that we had to be the best. My parents are heroes. Strong ones. My mother can control ice like the Freezer, and my father water and ice. When I was born they expected me to be able to use both like my brother, but it was a lot harder for me. I didn’t know why until I realized exactly how many soulmates I had.”
“Why would that matter?” Jungkook asks.
Jimin gives him a perplexed look, “Don’t you know anything about soulmates?”
Jungkook tries to think back and remembers those words.
No soulmate
“I- I don’t think so,” he says, “I think that maybe… I didn’t want one... Or didn’t have one, don’t have one? I don't know…”
“Hey it’s okay, I think you really might be another soulmate of ours, cause you finally granted me that control of ice,” Jimin says excitedly.
“I could turn things to ice sometimes, but then and there it just came to me. I knew I could do it,” he says grinning.
The youngest smiles in response, “It was beautiful hyung.”
Jungkook notices the red that adorns Jimin’s cheeks, but he doesn’t comment on it, “What else happened Jiminnie?”
“That’s hyung to you Bunny, are you doing this on purpose now?” Jimin asks with a pout.
“Anyways- I couldn’t control them, and my parents were infuriated. They pushed me harder than my brother, trying to get me to be perfect just like him. I hated it, I hated them, and I started to hate my brother too…” he whispers.
“Finally one day I was out on a break, during those times Bun I was constantly wearing bruises across my body, it wasn’t pretty. However I started to notice though that the water from drinks, grass, and sweat started to build in front of me. It formed a ball and then shot forward. I knew what it meant of course, everyone’s powers reacts around their soulmate.”
“It was then I met Yoongi-hyung,” Jimin says dreamily,
Now Jungkook understands why the pair are so close, it makes sense honestly. They both seem so protective over one another, and Jungkook always found it endearing.
“Hyung was surprised to find me, but he was actually really happy. Overjoyed to be honest, but that changed once he realized the situation I was in…”
“He promised to take me away, protect me, and I believed him. He was my soulmate and only after a day I was falling for him too… So I went to my parents and told them what was happening. They were furious and tried to stop me, but neither of them could match Yoongi’s fire. Especially with how angry he was…”
Jimin hugs his knees with a warm smile, “Yoongi-hyung saved me… If it wasn’t for him I’m not sure I’d be here…”
Jungkook feels his heart twist at the thought of a world without Jimin. The boy is just so kind, and loving, and one of the best people he’s ever known. Maybe that was a bit biased since he couldn’t remember anyone else, but he thinks that even with his memories he’d still believe that.
“Thank you for telling me hyung,” he says softly, “that must have taken a lot of bravery, and I’m so happy Yoongi-hyung got you out.”
Jimin nods wiping away a tear, “Yeah me too… And thank you Bun… For well, everything. You’ve saved me twice now after all.”
“I’ll always be here to save you,” he says seriously, “I won’t ever let any of you be hurt. Not without repercussions.”
The elder laughs, “Ah our little bunny, going off to protect us.”
“Shut up hyung, I’m trying to be nice,” he pouts.
Jimin grins before holding out a hand and letting the water flow onto it. It wraps around him, and he holds out his hand for Jungkook to take. He can interact with water, but he’s not sure if this will really work… So the boy tentatively reaches his hand out, and rests it against Jimin’s. He can feel the water, and it pretty much feels solid. Jungkook lets out a laugh, and sighs.
“I wish I was actually here…”
“You will be Bun, I know it.”
———————
“Bun, why don’t you ever call me hyung?” Jimin whines.
The youngest grins, “I don’t know what your talking about Jimin.”
The elder shouts using his power to throw water at him, and the two boy laugh loudly. They decided to have a ‘bonding’ night as Hoseok calls it. It’s a way for them to grow closer and give Jungkook the attention he needs.
“Jimin?”
Both boys freeze upon hearing the leaders voice. Jungkook slides his gaze towards the elders face, which is contorted in a grimace.
“Namjoonie-hyung?” Jimin asks, “what’s the matter?”
The leader blinks rapidly, resting a hand on his head, “Sorry, I know you’re there Bun, and I really hate to intrude but I just-“
Jungkook uses the water to make a loud dripping noise. Namjoon looks up curiously, and Jimin smiles cheekily. Jungkook looks to the third youngest, who nods in understanding.
“Tell him… tell him he shouldn’t apologize, and that if he ever needs anything he shouldn’t be afraid to ask for it just cause I’m here,” he mutters.
Jimin translates a bright smile dancing on his face, and Jungkook notices how Namjoon’s face grows red. Gosh he’s cute.
“What did you need hyung?” Jimin asks.
Namjoon sucks in a breath glancing in Jungkook’s direction.
Ah.
Jungkook notices that there are certain things members just don’t want him knowing. Namjoon and Yoongi specifically. The others know something about his past, but Namjoon seems to wish to keep it all to himself. Jungkook gets why, that’s his business after all… it just doesn’t mean he wouldn’t mind knowing what is going on.
Jungkook sighs a tad too loudly causing Jimin to glance in his direction. He gets this melancholy feeling there, like he’s felt this kind of thing before.
Feeling abandoned or forgotten...
Regardless Jungkook smiles, “Go talk to Namjoon-shi, I think he needs it.”
“Bun-“
Before Jimin says anything else however Jungkook disappears, probably to talk to Taehyung. They’ve been growing closer recently despite being unable to really talk.
The next morning Jungkook goes downstairs to see the two boys from last night entangled in each other’s arms. It’s a cute sight, and if Jungkook had a camera he’d surely take a photo. Namjoon cracks his eyes open though, and Jungkook watches him curiously.
“I know your there kid,” Namjoon states.
Jungkook flushes slightly, but Namjoon continues on.
“Listen I just, I wanted to say sorry. I know you said it’s fine, but I also know you hate the secrets… I’m sorry to keep this from you since you might be my soulmate, but I’m scared. The only reason the others know is because we’re soulmates. I just…. I’m scared of telling a stranger who might not actually be what we’re all hoping them to be,” the leader whispers.
Jungkook looks away pouting, he gets it. But honestly he thinks the only way the two are going to grow closer is if he does tell Jungkook. He can’t do much about that though.
“Just give me time kid, I know your a good person, but I’m still fearful. I’ll come to you when I’m ready, and just… I hope you can be okay with that,” Namjoon says his voice seemingly small.
He’s scared, but Jungkook simply smiles. He can’t say anything but he sees the water cup and swirls it around. He hopes Namjoon understands because Jungkook will always wait for him. He knows he will.
And Namjoon just smiles brightly.
He understands.
———————
Jungkook one day decides to take a day for himself. He tells the others, Hoseok looking very nervous in case he gets lost, but the boy eases his worries. He won’t go far. He just wants to go out for a bit.
He goes to the playground, and watches the kids play. He walks around a museum, and sees the pretty art. He even goes and sees a movie, which was really good, he’ll have to take Jimin and Tae. The youngest then sits down at a bench, and watches the world pass by.
“ SOMEONE HELP!! ”
Jungkook jolts hearing a lady screaming. He turns to see a woman running frantically from something , and Jungkook runs towards her curiously. It’s then he sees what she’s running from. There’s a monster made out of metal, and it’s heading straight for the city. Jungkook feels himself stepping back fearfully, even though he knows it won’t be able to touch him.
The monster starts to grab people and just throws them. It’s like it doesn’t even have any idea what it wants to do. It’s just here to hurt people. Jungkook feels bile rise up the back of his throat as he watches these innocent people be thrown around like rag dolls.
He’s scared.
And he wants the others.
But as he sits there wallowing in his own self pity and fear he noticed a child sobbing. He’s sitting on the floor, not moving, and very much in the open. The beast notices him, and starts charging towards the child. Jungkook screams feeling overwhelming fear raging inside of him.
And as his feelings burst something rises out of his core. He feels Yoongi’s fire burn within him, and Jungkook quickly without thinking throws his hand out. He sends a deadly blast of heat straight at this monster. It sends him flying and melts the metal. Once Jungkook finishes this however he feels a burning sensation spread across his limbs.
The little boy seeing the beast hurt finally gets up and runs. Jungkook watches him go, and as he backs up the boy notices people quite literally flying to the rescue. Jungkook sees a hero group land on the floor already tying up the monster.
Jungkook looks at them all curiously, and realizes he knows them too.
But he doesn’t know how.
——————-
“Hey, Hobi?”
Said boy turns to look at Jin who stands awkwardly in the doorway. He wrings his hands behind his back, and Jungkook can just feel the anxiety rolling off of the eldest.
Hoseok must tell as well because he straightens up, his wings puffing out too, and he holds a hand out, “Hyung? Is something the matter?”
Seokjin chews on the inside of his mouth, unsure and scared, “Joonie seemed okay the other day with Jiminnie, but he won’t come out of his studio.”
Hoseok’s jaw tightens, “How long?”
Seokjin curls in on himself, “I haven’t seen him for 13 hours now.”
Hoseok curses getting up and running downstairs. Each boy has a room of their own, but they always sleep together in the same one. ((As long as no fights have broken out that is.)) Their “rooms” are more like studios or private places when they need to get away for a bit.
Jungkook noticed that Namjoon and Yoongi spend the most time in their studios. Doing what he has no idea, but something.
He also noticed that sometimes Namjoon stays in their for days, and no one ever tells the boy why.
It’s annoying.
———————
Jungkook is watching some cartoons idly when he hears a string of curses from one of the rooms. Taehyung next to him huffs out a laugh, and Jin rolls his eyes.
“Yoongi-hyung must be writing,” Taehyung says giggling.
Seokjin buffs out a laugh, “You know how mad he can get with his rapper’s block, Tae.”
Jungkook looks at the pair confused before sliding from his spot and walking towards the noises. He doesn’t go into Yoongi’s studio often, ever actually, but he’s also slightly concerned. Jungkook phases into the room, because that’s something he loves to do, and he looks around curiously.
Jungkook takes note of the figure hunched over a computer. Yoongi’s hair seems to light up on fire, and Jungkook never gets tired of seeing it.
“Hyung? Is everything okay?” Jungkook asks worriedly.
Yoongi spins around quickly definitely not expecting Jungkook to be there. He glares harshly, but Jungkook has come to be not as scared of him as he used to be. He simply raises an eyebrow in response.
“Not now Bun, hyung is tired and stressed,” Yoongi mutters turning back towards his computer.
Jungkook cocks his head to the side, “What are you working on Yoongi-hyung?”
The elder sighs clearly annoyed, “A song, but I just can’t figure out the melody.”
“Can I listen?”
Yoongi looks to Jungkook seemingly surprised, “You wanna hear it?”
The youngest nods grinning, “Of course I do hyung! I like music.”
And Jungkook does, he knows he does. He sees images of a boy who looks like him singing on a stage, writing lyrics, playing the piano, and Jungkook’s knows that that’s him.
He’s connected to music, so of course Jungkook wants to listen to his possible soulmate’s song.
Yoongi seems kind of shy, a bit nervous, but Jungkook is quick to shut that shit down.
“Please hyung?” He asks pulling out the puppy dog eyes, “I wanna hear it.”
Yoongi as well as Namjoon or any of the other Hyungs are absolute suckers for any of the Maknaes puppy dog eyes. He presses play before he can think of anything else, and Jungkook listens to the music thoughtfully.
Of course Yoongi is really good at rapping, he expects nothing else from his hyung.
And it makes Jungkook want to sing again.
———————
“You’ve been acting weird.”
Jungkook looks to see Jimin watching him methodically.
Yes perhaps it’s true Jungkook’s been acting a little funny, but he’s been thinking a lot lately. Overthinking really. It’s honestly stupid. At least that’s what Jungkook thinks.
Lately he’s been feeling really strange. Like all of a sudden he felt really insecure and jealous?
He doesn’t really understand why, he doesn’t normally feel like this, and it started randomly. It wasn’t even triggered by anything.
But randomly he’ll feel jealous even if he’s by himself. It’s strange and Jungkook doesn’t like it at all, so he might’ve started to stay away. Stay quiet. The only times he doesn’t feel like this is whenever he’s with Tae, and only when it’s the two of them.
He doesn’t understand the jealousy, but he hopes he can figure it out soon.
———————
The others are out one night.
They were invited to this superhero gala or something, so Taehyung made a dvd with his favorite show on it. It’s been playing for 3 hours now, and Jungkook does like it, it’s just he wants to do other stuff too.
The young boy sits on the couch idly, resting his face on his hands. He really hates when the others aren’t home, it makes him feel more like a ghost. Jungkook feels envy twist in his chest because why can’t he be here. Why can’t they see him? It makes him feel incredibly sad.
But then.
He feels something else.
Suddenly incredible jealousy fills him up to the brim. It knocks him out for a moment, and he sits there trying to understand the feeling. It weighs down on him significantly, and Jungkook clutches at his chest.
The feeling turns into rage, then disbelief, an overwhelming sadness, and finally….
Feelings about death enter his heart.
And Jungkook doesn’t know how, but he knows who this is.
It’s Taehyung .
——————
Upon realizing that one of his closest friends is in pain like this, Jungkook tries to remember where they are, because he needs to find them! He has to! They need him!
Tae needs him.
“Bunny?”
Jungkook jolts suddenly looking around wildly before his eyes land on Jimin who is staring at him shocked. He is at the stupid gala thing, he doesn’t know how, but he is.
“What are you doing here?” Jimin asks.
Jungkook gasps remembering, “Tae- Where’s Taehyung?”
Jimin’s face morphs into one of confusion and anger?
“Taehyung is off sulking somewhere,” he mutters.
Jungkook’s eyebrows furrow, “What happened?”
Jimin scoffs, “He was an idiot, and now he made you come all the way down here. Unbelievable.”
Jungkook feels anger burst through his skin upon hearing this, “Jimin, you have no idea what I felt from Taehyung. Yes I felt him, but there’s a lot more happening. I need to find him.”
“Now.”
Jimin looks startled by the venomous tone, and points, “He went that way. Yoongi-hyung went with him.”
Jungkook nods but Jimin stops him, “Why do you seem so scared about Tae? Is he okay?”
The youngest simply looks him in the eyes, “No, but it’s not my place to say why.”
“Maybe if you listened to him you’d know”
Jungkook ignores the guilt that seeps into him from Jimin.
——————
Jungkook finds Taehyung being scolded harshly by Yoongi. The younger’s face his turned down, staring coldly at the ground. Yoongi’s fingers seem to light up, and his face is contorted into fury.
“Bunny what are you doing here?”
Jungkook sees Hoseok standing not too far from him with Namjoon and Jin. Hoseok’s face seems shocked like Jimin’s and Jin looks at Hoseok confusedly.
“Bunny? Is the kiddo here?” he asks.
“Can someone tell me exactly what happened?” Jungkook asks.
Hoseok looks conflicted, “Ah, Bun, I- I don’t think-”
“Let me rephrase that,” Jungkook states venom once more seeping into his voice, “tell me what happened. I’m not asking .”
Hoseok’s lips meld shut, and Namjoon sighs, “I can tell Hobi doesn’t want to say it so I’ll say it.”
“One of the female heroes here, got a little too close to Jimin, Taehyung got jealous, but he got even more angry when we didn’t do anything about it. He snapped at the woman, and ripped a part of her dress. It was extremely unprofessional. I mean, we’re supposed to be the bigger people here. He shouldn’t act like a kid,” Namjoon states.
Jungkook feels that anger burst again, because they don’t know how Taehyung feels. There have been way too many nights filled with Taehyung telling Jungkook all of his secrets, and one of them is how he wishes he could be allowed to be a child again. Because since becoming a hero it’s all about being the bigger person and taking the pain. The amount of times he’s had to witness his best friend sob are too much.
Jungkook’s teeth clench, and Hoseok must be able to tell something is wrong.
“So, you just straight up and scold him?” Jungkook asks in disbelief.
Hoseok nods, “He needs to know that he shouldn’t do that-”
“Did you even ask him why he acted like that?!” Jungkook screeches.
Hoseok backs away, “We didn’t need to, Namjoon picked up on his thoughts-”
Jungkook growls, “Doesn’t mean he could see all of them! I know how Taehyung feels right now, and I’m so angry at all of you for not helping him.”
“Bunny what are you talking about?” Hoseok asks.
Jungkook doesn’t listen however, just storms off straight to Yoongi and Taehyung. Yoongi sees him and opens his mouth in surprise, but Jungkook glares sharply. Yoongi shuts his mouth in response. He’s surprised, but doesn’t utter a word.
“I’m sorry to be like this hyung, but leave, ” Jungkook says.
“Kid what-”
“ LEAVE. ” Jungkook snaps.
Yoongi takes a step away before glancing at Taehyung once more, “Tae, Bunny’s here.”
Taehyung finally tears his gaze away from the floor, “Bunny?”
Jungkook smiles sadly before spotting a candle nearby. He flickers it’s light violently, and Taehyung lets out a relieved sigh. He picks the candle up sparing one more glance at Yoongi and the others.
“Can we go talk Bunny?”
Jungkook flickers once for yes .
——————
Taehyung likes to tell Jungkook his secrets, and Jungkook always listens. It’s just the two staring at the moon after the fiasco. Taehyung holds onto the candle tightly, like it’s the only thing keeping him sane. It’s the one way Jungkook can interact with the boy, and they cherish it greatly.
“Hey Bunny? Do you ever get lonely…?”
Jungkook doesn’t know how to reply to that, but he thinks of the time he has to be left alone, and yeah that really does suck so he uses the flame to say yes. One flicker.
“Yeah? I bet it’s hard not being able to be seen, I’m really trying you know. I wanna see your cute bunny teeth so bad!” Taehyung squeals.
Jungkook rolls his eyes before flicking the fire twice, no , he says.
“Awe c’mon, I’ve heard how cute you are, and you better deliver,” Tae says teasingly.
Jungkook huffs out a laugh smiling at Taehyung, “I’ll do my best.”
Taehyung then stretches sighing loudly, “Do you mind coming with me on a walk Bun?”
He flicks the flame twice.
“Okay, try and keep up!” Taehyung shouts before shifting into an eagle and flying away.
Jungkook grins before following the second youngest quickly. Taehyung ends up landing at a nearby park, but he doesn’t shift back. No he shifts into his favorite creature, the wolf.
Yeah cliche he knows, but Taehyung’s the king of cliche.
Taehyung walks over to a puddle of water, “You there Bun?”
Jungkook makes the water ripple, and Taehyung grins. He takes Jungkook on a small stroll and the youngest is surprised by the silence of the night. Normally Tae is talking up a storm which means whatever it is that’s bothering him, must really bother him.
It’s then Jungkook can feel insecurity pour throughout his whole being.
Stupid.
Can’t do anything right.
They don’t need you.
Don’t want you.
Who’d want you when they have each other?
I bet Bunny doesn’t even like you.
He’s just doing this out of pity.
He hates you.
Who wouldn’t?
Jungkook knows who this is, and his heart breaks. Taehyung’s always the one smiling, taking care of the others, and keeping things lighthearted. To know he’s feeling like this makes Jungkook want to cry.
God why can’t he just let Taehyung hear him?
Why does he have to go through this every goddamn time?
I’m worthless.
The thought rings throughout his head, and Jungkook lets out the most animalistic growl he’s ever heard. He never, ever , wants to hear Taehyung say that about himself. He’s willing to do anything to prove that Taehyung is in fact the furthest thing from worthless.
And once again the static returns.
JEON JUNGKKOO
He feels his body grow warm, and then he’s shifting. Jungkook hears a gasp, and then Jungkook lands. He looks around realizing he shifted. He shifted into Taehyung’s wolf, and he looks around wildly for an answer that won’t ever come.
“Bunny! I can see you! And you shifted?!” Taehyung exclaims.
Jungkook blinks in surprise before losing his focus, and shifting back. He flops back shaking his head, “I guess? I don’t really know how though…”
Jungkook then remembers what he was going to say, “Wait! Hey asshole I need to tell you something.”
Taehyung blinks in surprise, “Okay, first that was rude. Second chill, what’s wrong?”
“Don’t you dare call yourself worthless Tae, you’re not, and you won’t ever be,” he replies.
Taehyung freezes up upon hearing this, and Jungkook looks at him sadly. He walks to a bench and sits down patting the seat next to him. The two boys sit on the bench of the quiet park quietly. Taehyung nor Jungkook go to speak, and they’re almost afraid to.
“Tae, why- why do you think that about yourself?” Jungkook asks.
Taehyung huffs out a laugh, “I don't know Bun. I just- there’s these voices in the back of my head constantly, always telling me what I hate about myself… Namjoon somehow never picks up on them.”
“And I just- Can I tell you a secret Bunny?”
Jungkook nods, “I mean, you’ve been doing that for a while no?”
Taehyung gives him a tight smile, “This one’s important. Just, don’t tell anyone please.”
The youngest nods giving Taehyung a serious look, “Okay Tae.”
“The others knew each other for a lot longer than I did, and they always say that it doesn’t matter but… I don’t know it gets to me sometimes. Jimin and Yoongi-hyung have been together for years, and so have Namjoon-hyung, Jin-hyung, and Hobi-hyung. They all knew each other way before they knew me, and they were really close too…” he whispers.
“Earlier, when that lady started pressing against Jimin I got so jealous, but the others acted like they didn’t even care! And yet they get so mad at me when I express how I feel and I just…”
“Sometimes I just, I don’t feel as important…” he mumbles, “but that’s also really selfish so I feel even worse.”
Jungkook whines, “Tae, no, it’s okay. First of all, completely valid reaction to that lady pressing up against Jiminnie. Second you’re allowed to feel a little selfish, you just need to make sure it doesn’t get in the way of your relationship. ”
Taehyung sighs wiping at his eyes, “Maybe… I can’t help but hate feeling selfish Bun. Sometimes I just want them to smother me for hours on end till the voices stop, but I’m always so worried.”
“What if they don’t want me? What if I’m too annoying? If I’m too annoying am I too loud? Too touchy? Do they not like me? But then why are we soulmates? Did the soulmate system screw up? I just- My brain won’t shut up .”
Jungkook listens to Taehyung’s words thoughtfully, “Your brain… It’s kind of like a one way train track right? You keep speeding towards the worst possible outcome, and there’s just no stopping it.”
“Yeah, that’s, that’s a pretty good example actually. When I’m like that I just need someone to talk me through it, but I’m always too scared to go to someone so I talk to myself,” Tae says.
“Or me,” Jungkook replies with a grin.
“Or you,” Taehyung grins back.
“But you know the others would never think that right? Like I see everyday how much they love you, you can’t seriously believe they don't,” Jungkook says.
“Well, when I feel normal I can see it, feel it. But when I get all jumbled up in a ball of anxiety and fear I can’t think properly,” he mutters sadly.
“Which is why you like the reassurance,” Jungkook answers.
Taehyung nods, “Yeah it’s just-”
“Yoongi-hyung and Jiminnie knew each other for a long time, and I get why. Jiminnie was in a bad place, so was Yoongi-hyung. They kept each other safe and helped each other out when they needed it,”
“Joonie-hyung and Hobi-hyung knew each other since they were kids, and then they met Jin-hyung while he was in college… The three of them work so well together too. Each one always takes on a chore or rule, and there’s always this silent communication they have…”
“We always established that there would be no jealousy in our relationship, but instead of being jealous of them per say, I’m jealous of that closeness? I guess? Because I want that. I want that kind of connection they have with each other, but I can't. I haven’t known them as long as the others-”
“Did you know that Yoongi-hyung and Jiminnie met the other three before I did? I came in last, and just. I was happy you know? Like super happy. I had wanted to find my soulmate for years, and when I did I found all of them! I was overjoyed, but slowly those insecurities came, and I didn’t know how to fight them off.” Taehyung finally finishes tears streaming down his cheeks.
Jungkook looks as the older boy sadly. Taehyung cries silently, looking at the moon gleaming above them. Jungkook sucks in a breath collecting his thoughts for a moment, before finally sliding off the bench and kneeling in front of Tae. The boy looks up, and the pair stare into each other’s eyes for a moment.
Jungkook feels something shift there.
Taehyung’s cheek glow for a moment, and Jungkook feels his heart tighten. There’s a buzzing underneath his skin from staring into to Taehyung’s eyes, and this heat that continues to grow. This might be the first time they are having a full blown conversation, but they’ve been talking for a long time. Growing closer over the weeks, and getting along easily.
Jungkook knows how he feels about Taehyung and Hoseok, and he’s started to feel like this with Yoongi and Jimin. He can never stop smiling at them, and staring at their faces. Taehyung makes him smile, keeps him company, and he’s never been more grateful. Jungkook knows how he feels for Taehyung.
It’s just now Taehyung can see Jungkook,
And he sure is a sight to see.
“Tae, you-” Jungkook starts getting embarrassed.
Taehyung grins, “It’s okay Bun.”
The boy slides on the bench as well, and the pair sit face to face with each other. Jungkook smiles sadly because if only he could touch him. He wants to hold him close, protect him from the world, and tell him how much he loves him.
He can still do the last part though.
“You’re beautiful Tae,” he whispers, “always have been, but you know what else?”
Taehyung’s cheeks turn red, but he still looks at Jungkook curiously.
“You’re talented, strong, funny, cute, charming, and the best person I’ve come to know. You kept me company even though I couldn’t respond. You taught me things about the city I’m not sure I knew, and made me feel so welcome despite being practically invisible. You’re my best friend, and possibly my soulmate and just-”
Jungkook pauses biting his lips, “I’ve fallen head over heels for you.”
There isn’t much talking after that.
Taehyung cries for a while telling the boy how thankful he is, and how much he loves him. They decide to keep it to themselves, and let things fall into place naturally. Neither are really sure what’s going to happen, but both have faith that they’ll be together.
They walk home together soft smiles dancing between them. Jungkook at one point asks if Taehyung can shift is hand into a paw. Taehyung pauses for a moment a curious look on his face, instead of a paw however his whole body shifts.
Into a person.
Jungkook’s eyes widen, “Tae! You shifted into another person!! You did it!”
Taehyung touches his face which now looks like Jimin’s, and beams, “I did it… Bunny I did it!!”
Without thinking Taehyung throws himself at the boy, and Jungkook panics for a moment in response. Surprisingly enough however. Taehyung is met with a very solid touch, and Jungkook steps back in surprise. Jungkook freezes for a moment before reaching out and grabbing Tae’s hands. They sit there for a moment basking in the closeness until Taehyung screeches, and pulls him into the tightest hug ever.
Jungkook sits there in awe before realizing why.
He can interact with the others powers. Taehyung’s is able to change his whole body, so naturally he should be able to touch it too.
“I’m proud of you,” he whispers to the other.
Taehyung rests his head near Jungkook’s ear and whispers, “Thank you Bun, you’re my hero.”
Jungkook tucks his head in into the crook of Taehyung’s, shoulder blade and breathes. They stand there for a bit basking in the solidarity between them. Despite the touch it still doesn’t feel like enough. Jungkook can’t really feel Tae. He can’t feel any heat or coldness, can’t smell him at all; he’s just just this solid thing.
But right then and there.
It’s enough.
———————
When they arrive at home it’s way past midnight, and the lights are on much to Taehyung’s chagrin. Jungkook smiles comfortingly, and Taehyung sighs before smiling as well.
“Let’s get this over with,” Taehyung mutters to himself.
Jungkook sticks as close as he can to the boy as Taehyung enters the house as quietly as possible. Jungkook sneaks a bit more ahead to see the others, but he doesn’t find them. Taehyung walks forward as well, and then a sad look crosses his features.
“Oh, maybe they already went to bed,” he mumbles.
Jungkook can already tell what is running throughout his heart.
“Tae- Oh thank god.”
Both boys look to see Jin standing on the staircase. He rushes forward drawing him into his arms. Taehyung is squished in Jin’s arms, and Jungkook can’t help but giggle at the sight.
“Let me call the others,” Jin says whipping out his phone.
Taehyung cocks his head to the side confusedly, “Why?”
“We’ve been looking for you, for hours. You left your phone, and we weren’t sure how to find you,” Jin says running his hand through Tae’s hair.
Tae’s eyes water, “Oh, you… You were looking for me?”
Jin’s eyebrows furrow, “Of course we were baby, why on earth do you think we wouldn't?”
Taehyung bites his lip turning away, “I just- the party, and everyone was so mad .”
Jin grabs his chin turning him back, “Hey no, look at me Tae, it’s okay. We didn’t listen, I’m sorry, we’re sorry. You should’ve seen Hoseok earlier, he said Bunny was about to go to war for you.”
Taehyung laughs making eye contact with Jungkook, “Yeah, I know.”
“Tae!”
Taehyung barely has any time to react as Jimin slams into the boy. The two slide to the ground, Jimin clutching onto Taehyung tightly. Jimin’s shoulders shake, and Taehyung stares down in surprise.
“Jiminnie? What? Are you okay?” he asks.
Jimin just cries, and Taehyung sighs sadly. He curls around the smaller boy, and rocks back and forth.
“It’s okay Jiminnie, you’re okay-”
“But you’re not,” Jimin says from his tight ball.
Taehyung blinks in surprise, “What?”
“There’s no use hiding it kid,” Jungkook hears Yoongi’s voice.
The elder looks at him with guilt and relief in his eyes, “I’m sorry for just straight out scolding you. We didn’t try to listen, and I’m sorry.”
Taehyung still manages to stay strong, “It’s… It’s okay. Thank you for apologizing hyung.”
Yoongi sighs stepping forward and kneeling in front of the boy, “It’s okay to let your emotions out Tae, let your hyungs take care of you hm?”
Taehyung’s teeth clench down on his bottom lip, it’s the only thing stopping him from just breaking down at this point it seems.
“Tae,” Jungkook whispers, “it’s okay to let them in.”
And finally Taehyung breaks. Sobs wrack throughout his entire body, and he wails. Jimin’s arms tighten around him, and Yoongi rests his hands on his back rubbing soothingly. Jungkook then sees Namjoon and Hoseok walk in, their eyes widening at the sight. Surprisingly enough it’s Namjoon that rushes forward, and tackles the group hug.
Jungkook hears a string of apologies rush out of the leaders lips, and Jungkook smiles at the sight. Hoseok and Jin stay nearby, probably to give the group space. Jungkook notices Hoseok give him an approving smile, and the youngest grins.
That night is filled with Taehyung finally telling the others about all of his feelings. The others are quite horrified upon hearing this, even Namjoon who can normally pick up on strong thoughts.
“Tae, why on earth would you think that?” Hoseok asks.
The boy sighs wiping at his face, “I don’t I just… sometimes I think it’d be better if I wasn’t here.”
The others quickly voice their protests about this, and Yoongi pulls Tae into his arms.
“I don’t want you ever thinking like that Tae, I know we’ve had our fights, but I love you sweetheart. I love you so much Tae,” the elder says softly.
Taehyung lets out a watery laugh, “Thank you hyung, I love you too. So so much.”
The young boy curls into Yoongi, and Jungkook can tell he won’t last much longer. He slides forward smiling at Taehyung sweetly.
“Goodnight, TaeTae,” Jungkook whispers.
Taehyung cracks an eye open, “Goodnight, Bunny.”
Everyone smiles gently watching the second youngest with fondness in their eyes.
Jimin is quick to interrupt it-
“WAIT CAN YOU SEE HIM ?!”
It’s a good night.
———————
It’s been two weeks since Taehyung confessed to the others about his insecurities, and Jungkook is pleased to see that Taehyung is much happier. He still gets insecure, but Jungkook is able to talk to him about it. And the others are always there to help too.
“Bunny!!”
Jungkook looks up from his spot on the couch to see Jimin and Yoongi. It’s late now, a bit past one in the morning, but Jungkook stayed up for them anyways. The pair had left for something, for what they didn’t say, and Jungkook tries to ignore how annoyed he is about it; but Jimin smiles widely, casting away all of the angry thoughts swelling in the youngest’s head.
“Were you waiting for us kid?” Yoongi asks.
Jungkook nods, “Yeah, I wanted to make sure you got back okay.”
Jimin coos, “Aww, look at our little baby looking out for us.”
Jungkook tries to stop the blush that he knows is appearing on his face, but he’s not positive he succeeds. Yoongi and Jimin simply smile wider, so Jungkook concludes that he wasn’t successful in stopping his blush.
“It’s strange how you can blush even though your like, not physically here,” Yoongi muses.
Jungkook shrugs, “I don’t know hyung, I like to think since this is actually my soul body it reacts to how I feel like my real one. I feel the same things, so it’ll show up the same too, but who knows if that’s actually correct.”
Jimin nods, “None of us are really sure Bun, Namjoonie-hyung has been looking for clues about your existence for a while.”
Jungkook feels his heart swell, “He has?”
“Of course kid, we all have, we promised we were going to help you,” Yoongi states, “and I can also promise you we’re going to find you, because we aren’t ever going to stop.”
“Even if we’re old and have grey hair,” Jimin says giggling.
Jungkook laughs at that, “Hopefully I’ll age with you…”
The youngest then goes silent thinking about something.
“Bun? You good?” Yoongi asks studying the boy.
Jungkook opens his mouth a few times doing his best to find his words. He looks so nervous now, shy, and uncomfortable. The elders don’t like it at all.
“Do you trust me?” Jungkook finally asks.
Both are taken by surprise at the question.
“Of course we do Bunny,” Jimin says quickly.
Jungkook looks up to Yoongi staring straight into his eyes, “Do you hyung?”
And Yoongi knows what this is about. He can tell from the look in Jungkook’s eyes this has been on his mind for a while. Because Yoongi never told him who the Freezer was, and Namjoon doesn’t speak a word about his past around the boy. But the thoughts make a sickly feeling churn in his stomach.
Jungkook’s face crumples, the silence answering volumes.
“Okay Yoongi-shi.”
———————
No one besides Jimin and Yoongi know why the youngest is so far away now.
Jungkook doesn’t talk much anymore, hides away a lot more, and is gone more often than not. The others notice of course, Taehyung acting the most concerned, but Jungkook is upset and stubborn. It’s been about six months now since this whole ordeal started. He’s seen them at their lowest moments, he’s been here for them everyday, but they don’t trust him.
It hurts.
It really hurts.
———————
“Bunny!”
Jungkook jumps looking over to Seokjin, who is walking around with a candle in his hand.
“Bunny! Hey kid where are you?!” Jin yells loudly.
The others were kicked out, Jin claiming he had to meet with a lady from the hero organization at the house. Hoseok tried to get Jungkook to come, but Jin surprisingly enough told Hoseok no.
“You all will just look crazy talking to an invisible boy.”
It kind of hurt, but Jungkook was also thankful to get away from the others. Hoseok and Taehyung were constantly trying to get him to open up. To tell them what was going on with the younger, but Jungkook didn’t want to say.
“Bunny, please? I wanted to talk to you,” Jin states, “there’s no official coming today. I just wanted an excuse to talk to you.”
Now that surprises Jungkook.
The eldest doesn’t go out of his way to talk to the boy often, but Jungkook knows it’s not out of spite. Seokjin is simply busy, he manages the team more than Namjoon sometimes. If Jin isn’t helping one of the others, he’s cleaning the house, or cooking dinner, or working on paperwork.
Jin is vital to BTS, if he wasn’t here the others would surely fail.
Going back to the matter at hand, Jungkook stands up quickly walking toward the eldest. Jin is still looking around tapping his foot impatiently. The candle lies in front of him, and Jungkook debates letting his presence be known.
“Please Bunny,” Jin whispers staring at the candle like it’s everything.
All of Jungkook’s resolve crumbles hearing the sad tone, and the boy reaches out flickering the flame multiple times.
“Ah! You’re here! Oh thank you thank you thank you Bunny!” Jin exclaims.
He rushes towards the kitchen, and Jungkook follows curiously. There on the kitchen is a ouija board, and Jungkook has no idea on how to react.
“You can touch Tae when he transforms right? I was thinking maybe you could also touch me, and then I can listen to you through this!” Jin says excitedly.
Jungkook never thought about that, but it makes sense logically. He flickers the flame once, and Jin smiles bright. He lets his hand turn into a light wood, and Jungkook gingerly goes to touch it. Neither have any idea if this is actually going to work, but then Jungkook is wrapping his hand around his wrist. He makes solid contact, and Jungkook beams delighted.
“Incredible,” Jin whispers, “I can feel you. Okay, now, guide my hand around.”
And Jungkook does, he’s able to pull him fairly easy, and Jungkook slides his hand around the letters.

“I know you’ve been upset lately, I think I know why as well,” Jin says gently.
Jungkook feels a pressure way down on his chest, and his face turns melancholy.
“I know the secrets are annoying kiddo, I used to be in your shoes actually,” Jin mutters getting a far off look in his eyes.
Jungkook perks up quickly grabbing his hand.

“Well, I met Namjoonie and Hoseokie in college, I was training to be a hero at the time, desperate to prove my family wrong. When I met them I was overjoyed, but both seemed so uncomfortable. I thought something was wrong with me until Joonie had a flashback like Jiminnie has,” Jin says thoughtfully.
“Namjoon was adamant about me not knowing, saying it straight to my face ,” he mutters, “I was extremely hurt, who wouldn’t be? My own soulmate didn’t trust me. It felt like I wasn’t wanted.”
Jungkook looks at the oldest a little differently there, he sees the tired look in his eyes. Memories flowing throughout his mind.
So Jungkook moves his hand once more.

Jin huffs out a laugh, “I’m not sure they were ever going to actually tell me, but they didn’t get a choice to hide it at that point. Someone from Joon’s past showed up, they were bad Bun, and Joonie was terrified. I realized what was going on, and I beat that person to a pulp.”
Satisfaction flows throughout his features, “I beat all of them.”
Jungkook’s eyes widen, he sometimes forgets just how strong Seokjin is. He’s fast on his feet, and packs a big punch. Seokjin is also the most overprotective out of the bunch, and Jungkook has seen only a few times that anger show up. When Jin gets angry it’s not only the villains who become afraid but the heroes as well. Jin is a force to be reckoned with. Don’t let him tell you anything else.
“Hoseok and Namjoon were scared of what I would think, what I was going to do, but I would never hurt them. Never . It took awhile to convince them of this, but I’m stubborn Bun. If they didn’t wanna talk I’d leave food outside their door, bring little gifts, and send them texts throughout the day telling them I loved them,” Jin says smiling.
“I fell hard Bun,” Jin says laughing.
Jungkook pauses before grabbing Jin’s hand again.

Jin’s eyes widen, and he then smiles, “Then I know you’ll wait. You’re as stubborn as me from the stories I’ve heard from Hoseok. It’ll be okay kiddo. I’m right here if you ever need me okay? And don’t worry about Yoongi, he takes time, and wouldn’t talk to me for a while. Only to Joon and Jiminnie, but he will talk one day okay? I promise, or else I’ll never cook for him again. ”
Jungkook feels warmth blossom in his chest. He smiles widely moving his hand once more.

———————
The others notice the change almost immediately. Jungkook follows Jin around like a lost puppy, and Jin kind of lives for it. He talks about silly things, telling jokes that almost make Jungkook leave, and sometimes he sings. Which he’s really good at, don’t let him say otherwise.
Jimin and Yoongi look at him longingly, but Jungkook still needs space; and Jin said that it’s okay. He talks to Tae a little about it, the younger boy understanding easily because the only reason he does know about the other’s past is because he wouldn’t stop pestering them.
Jungkook is currently in the kitchen with Jin, listening to the elder sing. Jungkook loves his voice, it’s soothing, and it calms all his worries. As the youngest watches the eldest he traces every feature. Jin is beautiful, and he has no idea was to do about it.
“Bunny, what do you think?”
Jungkook looks at the food, it looks delicious, and god he wishes he could eat.
He grabs his hand, the ouija board always close between the pair.

“Bunny? Jin-hyung?”
Jungkook looks up from his spot on the floor. Jungkook managed to convince Jin to watch a movie while the others went out.
Hoseok stares at the two surprised, “What are you doing?”
Jin huffs out a laugh, “Bun would not leave me alone in the kitchen. He wanted to watch a movie, so here we are.”
Something akin to hurt flashes through Hoseok’s eyes, and Jungkook curls away. He’s good at ignoring any situation that makes him uncomfortable, and right now this is torturing him.
“Bunny can we please talk?” Jimin asks coming up.
He looks at Hoseok then to Jimin. He doesn’t really want to, and they have to know that. Maybe he should talk, maybe it’ll help. He knows he needs to let it out, to explain, and let his walls down despite how hard that is for him. They slowly crumble down, and the youngest opens his mouth-
“Kid stop being a brat,” Yoongi states coming up.
Jungkook immediately feels his walls slam down, and multiple ones appear. Anger flourishes within his chest, and he glares sharply. Yoongi glares back the elders eyes flashing red for a moment.
“You have no idea what’s going on right now-“
“Oh I don’t do I?” He asks mockingly, “right now I think your being a stubborn little brat who won’t listen to his elders.”
Jin pipes up, “Yoongi, calm down. Getting upset won’t do any good.”
“Stay out of this!” Jimin yells.
Everyone freezes because first of all Jimin rarely yells, second of all, he never yells at Seokjin.
The eldest eyebrows furrow, “ Excuse me ?”
Jimin doesn’t let down though, “He’s always with you lately! You can’t even see him it’s not fair! ”
Jin lets out a breath trying to calm himself, “It’s not like I’m forcing him to, if Bunny wants to hang out with me he can.”
“I hate it!” Jimin yells his voice growing more erratic.
Yoongi tries to grab him, but Jimin shakes him off. He glares darkly at Jungkook, and the youngest shrinks back. Hoseok’s eyes widen, and he steps back almost fearfully.
“I hate it! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you !” He screams over and over as vases filled with water shatter.
Jungkook’s heart breaks, his face crumpling, and suddenly he hears beeping. It starts slow but goes faster and faster. Then he hears people yelling, metal shrieking, and a boy crying. He doesn’t know what’s happening, what is happening ?
Jungkook stares in horror as his body starts to fade.
“ PARK JIMIN! ”
And then, it stops.
Jungkook is back, there’s no longer any noise, except for Jin now standing beside him. The eldest looks furious, and Jimin finally backs away. Jungkook doesn’t see this expression on Seokjin’s face often, but it scares everyone, including him.
“Bunny, come with me. You don’t need to be around these people right now,” Jin says angrily walking away.
“Where are you going?” Hoseok asks fearfully.
“ Out. ”
———————
As Jin guides Jungkook out they run into Taehyung and Namjoon.
“Hyung? Where are you going?” Taehyung asks confusedly.
Jin turns to Namjoon his face still looking murderous, “Ask Joon, I’m not dealing with those idiots right now.”
Taehyung looks at confusedly turning to Jungkook, “Bunny? What’s wrong? Are you okay?”
Jungkook knows Taehyung has always been there for him, never wanting to hide, so he smiles best he can. His eyes feel watery, but he’s feeling his own emotions this time. It hurts way worse.
“We’re gonna get some air,” Jin states turning to where he thinks Jungkook is, “I grabbed the board on the way out.”
Jungkook smiles looking at Tae, “Tell him I say thank you.”
Taehyung smiles translating, causing the eldest to beam, “Of course Bunny.”
Namjoon stays eerily silent, refusing to look at anyone. Jungkook feels bad, because he knows that telling his secret must be hard. And Jungkook really is being a brat about it.
“Tae, tell Namjoon-hyung I’m sorry, and that I don’t want him to feel bad. Tell him, I am upset, and that I am being a little bratty, but I’m not leaving. And it isn’t because of everyone else, I’m staying because I want to know him better. These feelings I have won’t let me say otherwise,” Jungkook says blushing.
Taehyung beams before looking at their leader, and telling him what the youngest said. Namjoon’s face brightens, and he looks so relieved he might cry. In fact. He does.
“I’m so sorry kid,” he whispers.
“I hate hiding this, but I’m scared ,” Namjoon whimpers.
Jungkook’s heart breaks even more, “It’s okay hyung, it’s okay, I’m not leaving, I promise, I won’t ever leave okay?”
Taehyung hugs the leader whispering Jungkook’s words to him. It makes him cry even harder collapsing into Taehyung’s arms easily. Jin sucks in a breath seemingly debating between staying and helping or not, but Tae shakes his head and smiles.
“Take care of our bunny hyung, I’ve got this,” the second youngest says cooly.
Jin huffs out a laugh, “Don’t try and act all responsible you twerp, but thank you honey, we’ll be back soon.”
Jin kisses both boys softly, before motioning Jungkook to follow him. The youngest does easily waving Taehyung goodbye.
———————
Getting away from everyone seems to be exactly what Jungkook needed. Jin doesn’t take him far, not at all, but it’s enough for the pair to relax uninterrupted. Jin pulls out the board that has connected the pair these past few weeks, and Jungkook smiles brightly.
As Jin lets his hand shift into the light wood once more, he pauses and licks his lips. Jungkook watches him curiously, and the elder sucks in a breath.
“I want to see you Bun,” he whispers, “why can’t I?”
Jungkook wishes he had an answer for that, trying to piece together what happened each time with the others, and honestly. There’s only one thing he can think of.
So he grabs Jin’s hand, and starts moving.

“What?” he eldest asks confusedly.
Jungkook isn’t sure how to explain without taking years to do so, but suddenly Jin lets out a noise of excitement.
“That’s right!” he exclaims, “each time you appeared the others were in a vulnerable state. Each time they needed your help!”
But he then pauses and pouts, “But… I don’t need help right now… It’s you that I’m helping, is that not good enough?”
Jungkook doesn’t know actually, he wishes he did, wishes he knew exactly what to do in these stupid situations, but he doesn’t have a single clue. He feels anger and insecurity flourish within is heart. He hates all of this. He just wants to be in his own body again, be able to touch things, taste things, and for god’s sake just be seen .
“Ouch.”
Jungkook looks up to Jin clutching his chest, he lets out a pained sigh, “Is that you?”
The youngest looks startled, and confused before quickly letting go of Jin’s hand.
“No… No, Bun come back, I’m okay. I want you to let me in,” he says.
So Jungkook very warily, curls his hand around his wrist. He tries to let those feelings go, and the youngest watches as the eldest’s face become pained.
“Oh Bunny, I can’t believe no one’s realized how sad you are,” the eldest whispers.
Jungkook’s breath hitches, a whine comes out of his throat. He shouldn’t be hurting this much, Jin had to deal with Namjoon and Hoseok and Yoongi all being secretive for years. He can’t even handle a few months? He’s pathetic .
“Stop that, I can feel your emotions right now Bun, don’t you start that self loathing shit,” Jin says surprisingly.
Jungkook huffs out a laugh, “Sorry hyung.”
“Don’t apologize.”
Jungkook’s gaze snaps up and it’s then he realizes Jin is looking directly at him. He’s staring into his eyes warmly, and Jungkook’s entire body goes rigid.
“I can see you,” the eldest whispers.
“I can see you,” he says grinning.
Jungkook feels his eyes water, and his lips tremble, “Hyung- I-”
Jin lets his whole body shift into rubber before dragging the boy into his arms. It’s very strange, but Jungkook understands the sentiment. He lets out a sob and curls into the eldest even more. The eldest runs his hands down his back, and nuzzles against his head. It’s such a strange scene, but Jungkook has never been happier.
“ Thank you- thank you- thank you-thankyouthankyouthankyou-” His words meld together by this point, and he’s not sure he’s even making sense.
“It’s okay, your welcome, you’re always welcome, I’m here Bunny, hyung’s here,” the eldest whispers, “you aren’t alone, I love you baby boy, we all do.”
The youngest cries even more, finally letting go of so many emotions he’s built up over the past few months. He cries and cries feeling that pressure explode out of him. Static, just like before rings within him.
JEON JUNGKOKO
———————
The two boys talk to each other for quite a while. It’s nice being able to talk without the board, but Jungkook also can’t help but adore having the one thing that kept them connected here. Jin doesn’t keep his eyes off of him, nor does he keep his hands off him either. Jin pulls the boy next to him, and cuddles him closely. It makes the youngest incredibly warm, and he smiles lazily.
“You know, we should probably head back,” Jin says idly.
Jungkook frowns, “I don’t know hyung, what if everyone’s still mad?”
Jin smiles, “I’ll beat them up if they are. We can’t hide out here forever Bun.”
He nods, “I know, but I also know I’m still scared.”
“It’ll be okay, I’m right here beside you, and I know Tae would rather take a bath in his wolf form than let them hurt you,” the eldest says with a grin.
Jungkook finally cracks a smile, “That’s a bold statement considering Tae hates taking baths in general .”
The pair laugh together, and Jin stands up his hand turning into steel, “Come on kiddo, let’s go home.”
Jungkook smiles grabbing his hand tightly, “Okay hyung.”
———————
Even with the eldest standing beside him, Jungkook isn’t prepared to see what’s going on inside the house. He’s scared the others will still be upset, mainly Jimin, and he just isn’t ready to face it right now. Jin stands in front of the door looking at Jungkook almost expectantly, but the boy has nothing to say. He’s frozen, and the eldest looks at him pitifully.
“Jin-hyung?”
The boys freeze as Namjoon walks towards the door. He looks tired, and just… very worn out.
“Joonie, is everything okay?” Jin asks wary.
Namjoon nods wiping at his eyes, “Yeah, however I don’t think Bunny should come inside yet.”
Jungkook feels fear and sadness rise up his back, and Jin sighs sadly.
“I said yet ,” Namjoon reiterates, “Jin go inside first, come get us when they’re ready. They just need their eldest hyung to explain a bit more forcefully .”
Jin makes an ‘ah’ noise before walking inside, “Keep Bunny company Joon-ah!”
The leader nods turning to Jungkook, “Hey kiddo, been a stressful night for you huh?”
Jungkook would love to answer that question, however….
“Don’t worry I brought tools,” Joon says pulling out a lighter and candle.
He looks up grinning, “What kind of hyung do you take me for?”
Jungkook chuckles watching the boy light the candle up. The youngest sits beside him watching the other intently. Namjoon holds the cup in both of his hands, letting it heat them up.
“I’m sorry kid,” he starts, “I know this isn’t completely my fault, but I still feel like shit about it.”
Jungkook pouts before angrily flickering the light enough that it goes out. The elder laughs lighting it once more, “Sorry, sorry, okay no self deprecating crap got it.”
“I just, I want to tell you everything, I’ve thought about it for so long . It’s just when I open my mouth to do so, it’s like my voice just gives out. I can’t say it, and it’s stupid and I hate it so much, but I want to tell you,” the leader whispers his voice getting shaky.
Jungkook looks at him sadly, and sighs. He doesn’t know how to respond to that, I mean he can’t really. Namjoon then leans back huffing out a laugh.
“It’s crazy how this person I can’t even see scares me so fucking much,” he says.
Jungkook laughs, watching as the elder looks down at the candle fondly, “I wish I could hear you kiddo, instead all we’ve got is water and fire.”
Jungkook then bends the light making it almost flicker. Namjoon laughs throwing his head back.
“And light, which is still weird fyi, like you can bend the light but I can’t see your shadow? Like what is up with that?” he says grinning.
Jungkook laughs before blowing the candle out in response. Namjoon laughs louder and tries to light the candle again, but before he can Jungkook blows out the flame once more.
“Hey! I’m trying to do this for you, you punk!” he exclaims.
Jungkook grins before blowing it out once more.
The two boys laugh together, not being able to talk, and yet still cracking jokes. Jungkook remembers why he loved sitting with Namjoon; cause while he can talk so intellectually, he’s also just a huge dork. He makes weird noises and dances terribly . Jungkook watches the leader with a soft expression, just admiring everything about him.
And there’s a lot.
———————
“Joonie-hyung?”
Jungkook and Namjoon look up from their spot on the floor. The two boys had been talking for definitely longer than an hour, and Jungkook honestly lost track of the time they spent together. It’s easy to just get wrapped up listening to Namjoon, but right now Taehyung is poking his head out. He smiles widely at Jungkook, and then he turns to Namjoon.
“They calmed down, I think we have some people in here who wanna talk to Bunny,” the second youngest says grinning.
Namjoon nods, “Alrighty, sorry we have to cut this short kiddo, it was fun though.”
He smiles brightly looking at the candle with such fondness it makes Jungkook’s heart leap. He stands up and opens the door and nods his head inside.
“Come on Bun, you deserve an apology,” he says.
Jungkook tries to smile but it falls short once he lays his eyes on Hoseok. The elder is standing in the doorway, his eyes seemingly hollow. It makes Jungkook’s hair stand up, and he curls in on himself.
“It’s okay Bunny, we aren’t upset,” he says with a small smile, “come on.”
Jungkook nods attempting to stand tall and walk inside with confidence. Hoseok looks at him intently though, and Jungkook finds himself shrinking back still. The elder seeing him so afraid gets teary eyed, and looks away.
“I’m sorry Bunny, we shouldn’t have pushed you like that,” he whispers.
Jungkook feels horrible crushing guilt rises up, and he steps back clutching at his chest. He doesn’t want to cry again, but just seeing how upset Hoseok is makes such uncomfortable feelings rise from his stomach.
He’s led to the living room that looks like it went through a storm. There’s water all over the floor and ice along the walls. Jungkook bites his lip knowing that this was Jimin, and he feels that fear rise up as well. Regardless he turns to look at the two men standing in the center. Yoongi has an arm wrapped around Jimin who is curled in on himself. He won’t look up from the carpet, and Jungkook sucks in a breath.
“Hyung?”
Jimin and Yoongi both look up sharply hearing Jungkook’s voice.
“ Bunny ,” Yoongi lets out this relieved sigh.
Jimin upon seeing him immediately tears up, and he drops to the floor. Jungkook gasps in surprise, but the boy starts sobbing, and he doesn’t know what to do. Jimin rests his head against the ground crying earnestly.
“ I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, ” he sobs over and over.
Jungkook feels Jimin’s own guilt and anguish push against his own, and Jungkook starts crying as well. He covers his mouth, and the boys look up hearing the whine that comes out of his throat. He drops to the floor before covering his face. He doesn’t want to be here, he doesn’t want to do this, he can't do this.
There’s too much. He’s feeling so much. He’s wailing. He can’t-
Too much. Too much. Too much.Too much.Too much.Toomuch.Toomuch.Toomuch.Toomuch-
“ Bunny!? ”
Jungkook looks up hearing shrieks of panic and confusion, but when he pulls his hands back he’s not in the house. He looks around seeing a hospital room, and the boy stands up quickly. As he spins around searching his eyes land on a boy lying in a bed. This boy however…
He has his face.
Jungkook looks at this boy, who is most likely him, and panics. As he feels his heart rate spike he sees it spiking on the heart monitor. His physical body is reacting to him, and he has no idea how he feels about that. He feels himself panicking even more before wishing to be with the others.
I want my soulmates. I want my soulmates. Take me home. Take me home. I wanna go home. Please. Please. Please.
Pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease
“What’s happening to him?!”
Before Jungkook disappears once more he sees a boy his age attempting to run inside. He looks on the verge of tears, and Jungkook feels a pull. He knows him. He’s friends with him, but he doesn’t know who he is.
“ JUNG-“
And then he’s gone again.
———————
Jungkook poofs back in the middle of the living room, and also in the middle of six boys all freaking out.
“ Where did he go?! ”
“ How should I know?!! It’s not like I know anything about this!! ”
“ Oh dear god… ”
“ What do we do?! Was this my fault?!”
“ Fuck, Shit, What the actual Fuck?!!?!”
“Bunny?”
Jungkook looks at Taehyung who is now looking at him with extremely wide eyes. Jungkook opens his mouth before closing it and looking at Taehyung helplessly. The second youngest however lets his body shift into Yoongi and grabs him tightly.
“Oh thank fuck ,” he whispers against his hair.
Jungkook melts into him, and Taehyung is surprised when the boy practically falls. He catches him, guiding the boy down gently. Jungkook is just tired now, and he sighs contently. The boy doesn’t really sleep, never has been able to, but right then he feels like he might pass out.
“Bunny? Are you okay?” Jimin asks sliding next to him, “I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable I just-“
“It’s okay Jiminnie,” he whispers back, “I don’t really know what happened. I just got overwhelmed, and…”
Jungkook scrunches his face, “I think I teleported to my actual body.”
“ What ?” Yoongi asks dumbfoundedly.
Jungkook pouts, “I don’t know, but I saw my body. I was in a hospital room.”
He thinks back to that image, his body hooked up to multiple machines with wires covering him.
“You know what’s weird though?” He whispers.
“I didn’t look bad or weak, I looked healthy, ” he whispers, “that shouldn’t be possible since my body wouldn’t have been moving for months right?”
Hoseok translates for the only one who can’t hear him.
Namjoon purses his lips, “No you’re right, I don’t know Bun. None of us have any idea how this works.”
Jungkook looks away dejectedly, “I just wish I knew .”
The others look at him pitifully, and Yoongi sits beside him. He sucks in a breath before sending a light flame that collides with his cheek.
“It’s okay kid,” he says almost shyly, “we’re gonna figure this out together okay? But first we still need to talk.”
He looks to others, and everyone leaves except Jimin, Hoseok, and Yoongi. They sit in a circle, Jungkook messing with hands anxiously.
“I’m sorry,” Jimin blurts, “I overreacted, and I let my emotions get the best of me. I’m sorry.”
Jungkook smiles, “You uh, already apologized hyung.”
“Well, that was a really sloppy apology,” he mutters, “I want you to know that I am sorry Bun, I shouldn’t have said, that it was way too rude.”
“Me too,” Yoongi pipes in, “you didn’t need scolding. Yes you were acting bratty, but so was I. I should’ve just, listened. I struggle with that.”
Jungkook huffs out a laugh, “Yeah, you kind of do hyung.”
Yoongi makes a face, “I’m trying to work on it…”
The youngest gives him a comforting smile, but he’s distracted by a light touch gliding across his back. He jolts before looking to see Hoseok’s wing touching the small of his back. It looks shy and scared, and when Jungkook’s eyes slide towards the elder he looks just about the same.
“Hyung-“
“Please Bunny, let me apologize first,” he whispers.
“I- We fucked up,” he says bluntly, “I get it, I wasn’t directly involved in the argument you had with Jiminnie and Yoongi-hyung, but I know me keeping secrets hurts you a lot.”
Jungkook looks down because yeah, Hoseok keeping secrets hurt him a ton. The elder was the first one he met, and the one he grew the closest with first. Hoseok not trusting him was like a stab in the gut.
Jungkook opens his mouth to speak but no words come out. He doesn’t know what to say. He doesn’t want to force them to talk, that’s just not right. He said he would wait, so he needs to stay true to that.
He bites his lip feeling that impatient feeling flare up, “I- I hate being out of the loop, but I don’t want to force you to tell me anything. It’s not right, and I’m sorry for acting so childish.”
Yoongi snorts, “You didn’t see Taehyung when he first showed up, he wouldn’t not leave me or Joon alone about this.”
Jungkook maybe didn’t see it, but Taehyung has told him about those times, and he’s told him why he did it to. Something only he knows. That brings him some comfort, and he looks up at the three boys giving them a strange smile. It makes all of them look at him confusedly, and Jungkook wants to laugh because yeah this makes him feel a little better.
“What’s with that smile?” Jimin asks with a pout.
Jungkook laughs, “I’ll tell you one day, but not now.”
“Okay we kind of deserve that,” Hoseok mumbles.
The youngest grins widely and leans back, “You’re all forgiven, now can you forgive me for acting like that?”
The elders all nod, “Of course Bunny.”
He looks at each boy thoughtfully, feelings pushing throughout him. He feels his heart skip a beat each time he traces their faces. They’re beautiful, they always have been, but then and there Jungkook feels this overwhelming urge to just blurt it all out.
“I‘m falling in love with you,” he blurts.
The moment the words escape his mouth his face turns red, and he covers it embarrassedly, “Oh my god I can’t believe I just said that.”
He hears Jimin let out a hearty laugh, “You’re gonna kill us Bunny…”
The youngest looks up and sees nothing but a fond expression adorning his face. The others look about the same, Hoseok holding the biggest smile on his face.
Yoongi tilts his head, his eyes speaking volumes, “We’ve been in love with you Bun.”
“And that’s not a secret,” Hoseok chirps.
Jungkook laughs softly smiling his cheeks a rosy color, “Thank you.”
God he’s so so happy.
———————
“What on earth are you doing?”
Jungkook startles from his position on the couch, and he whirls around seeing Yoongi with a raised eyebrow and Namjoon. The youngest being bored as all hell was jumping couch to couch because he’s able to fly (a little) due to Hoseok being his soulmate. He smiles awkwardly and shrugs.
Yoongi rolls his eyes, “Me and Joon have to go to a meeting. It’s supposed to just be leaders, but our adorable little leader is nervous.”
“Hyung!” Namjoon squeaks.
Jungkook laughs, “Tell hyung that he’s gonna do great, and if anyone gives him trouble I’ll beat em up!”
Yoongi huffs out a laugh before telling Namjoon what the younger said. Namjoon smiles softly, and looks to where Jungkook stands.
“Thanks Bun, we’ll be back soon. Have you been awake all night?” He asks curiously.
Jungkook puffs out his cheeks, “Yeah, I can’t sleep so I just mess around all night.”
Yoongi looks at him sadly, but tells Namjoon what he said. The leader’s eyebrows furrow before he looks at Jungkook heatedly. His gaze lasers in on him, and Jungkook feels his stomach churn.
“It must be pretty lonely,” he mumbles.
Yoongi and Jungkook look at him surprised before the youngest blurts, “It’s okay! It just makes seeing you all that much better.”
He blushes hearing his own words, but seeing Yoongi’s fond expression and Namjoons cute smile he finds he doesn’t care too much.
“Good luck hyungs, I’m gonna mess around some more,” Jungkook says hopping off the couch.
“Alright kiddo,” Yoongi says, “we’ll be going.”
“Bye Bunny!” Namjoon chirps.
Jungkook says goodbye before deciding to phase outside to explore a bit more before the others wake up.
“Love you!”
Jungkook pauses looking back at the elders smiling at him and waving goodbye. He beams at them both waving.
“Love you too.”
———————
After the events of last time Jungkook went out on his own Jin decides to accompany him this time around. The pair go out on practically a date, Jin taking him to his favorite spots. They have a nice peaceful day, but as things go on Jungkook feels like something is amiss.
He’s not sure why but he feels like he’s being watched, that he needs to be home, that the others need him… As the feeling grows stronger the youngest becomes more and more uncomfortable to the point Jin decides to take him home. On the way back however Jungkook feels a horrible pain shooting through him. It bounces around different places before it comes to a halt. Jungkook gasps looking at Jin with wide eyes.
“Somethings wrong-“ he heaves, “the others- they- they’re in pain-“
Jin’s expression morphs from fear to rage in a matter of seconds, and then he starts running. It’s bizzare at how fast they get home, but Jungkook feels relief once he sees the house only a few feet away. Jin goes to throw open the door, but Jungkook stops him.
“Let me go inside,” he whispers, “no one can see me beside you guys.”
Jin nods still looking concerned, “Be careful.”
Jungkook nods before his face grows determined and angry. He walks inside, and sees the house in shambles. The kitchen he and Seokjin would mess around with is burnt to a crips. Pans and pots thrown all over, and blood splattered against the wall. He walks to the living room seeing it torn up as well. There are claws and burn marks covering the walls and ground, the tv is split in two , and small puddles of blood cover the ground.
Jungkook feels sick to his stomach, but he still analyzes the room. Despite being unable to see anything he feels like someone is here. The young man takes a deep breath before once more taking in the whole room.
It’s then he sees something shift in the corner. He walks towards it, and once he gets close enough he hears breathing . Jungkook steps away with wide eyes, and runs outside to Seokjin.
“Hyung!” he yells.
“Someone’s inside,” he says frantically, “they were invisible and-”
“Invisible?” Jin asks with knowing eyes.
It takes Jungkook off guard, but he still nods in response, “Yeah, I couldn’t see them, hyung what are we going to do?”
Jin looks up at the windows on the second floor, “Go upstairs, look for the others. I’ll deal with him.”
Jungkook looks at him horrified, “Hyung no! You can’t-”
“Bun,” Jin interrupts, his voice taking on a strange edge, “I’ve got this.”
Jungkook watches as Jin’s body shifts to cold steel, and his face morphs into terrifying anger.
———————
Jungkook runs up the steps as fast as he can. In the background he hears slamming of bricks, and someone screaming. While fear claws at his insides, he rushes forward running through walls in search of the others. He’s gone through most of the other’s rooms by now, but he can’t find any of them. It’s then he realizes there are two rooms he hasn’t checked. The unmarked room that has been labeled as Jungkook’s room for about a month or two.
And Namjoon’s.
Everything about this whole situation seems to click for the boy. The fact that Jin looked so scared, the reason Jin seemed to know whoever is down there, and that Jungkook can feel so many emotions swirling inside of him. Because the emotions he’s feelings he hasn’t felt from anyone else. He doesn’t recognize the person sending those emotions, so Jungkook concludes that it’s Namjoon. It has to be.
So Jungkook sprints straight into the leaders studio. The only room he has never gone into. He’s been to Jin’s following Tae or Jimin sometimes. He’s stayed with Yoongi while he writes music. He’s been to Hoseok’s room plenty of times. There’s always this unspoken agreement that Jungkook is always welcome in Taehyung and Jimin’s rooms, but Namjoon’s has always been forbidden. Jungkook doesn’t know what to expect when he’s inside but it isn’t an empty room.
The youngest wonders if his conclusion was wrong, if maybe they aren’t in here, but those feelings grow stronger. Jungkook looks to the ground seeing something like a thread. That thread splits off into five, each one having a certain color.
One a brownish color that shows sparks of red flaring out angrily.
One that is a sad purple, and holds some blue in it as well.
One that is a very dim blue it looks almost weak and faded.
One that is a murky yellow it brightens and dims frantically.
One that is a dark dark shade of red that thrums in unison with the brown thread.
When he looks closer he sees a white thread going outside of the room, and traveling somewhere throughout the house. Though the thread is white, it becomes redder and redder the longer it stays.
Jungkook isn’t sure what all of this means, but he reaches towards the thread that looks the weakest. The blue one to be exact. He touches it gently attempting to make it stronger, or something. He has no idea what’s happening right now who is he kidding, but these threads are important. He knows they are.
When he touches the blue thread it’s like a tsunami of thoughts, feelings, and memories overflow him. It’s too much for him to handle, there’s so much to unpack here, way more than how Jimin’s was for him.
———————
“Son, I’m sorry, but your parents… they… they didn’t make it.”
“We’ll take you in don’t worry, we can train you in ways your parents never could.”
“You’ll be the most powerful super villain out there, Namjoon. Just wait and see.”
“Hi I’m Hoseok! I think you’re my soulmate?”
“Well as long as he helps you continue your villainy we won’t get in the way.”
“Joonie? Do you really wanna be a villain?”
“What do you mean your leaving?!”
“This is his fault isn’t it?! I knew it was a bad idea letting him stay!”
“If you walk out those doors, you will be hunted for the rest of your life. We will destroy you Joon, but we’ll make sure to kill Hoseok first.”
“He will die right in front of you, so you know the consequences of betraying your family.”
“Joon it’s okay, I’m okay see? We’re out! We did it, Joon, were safe baby.”
“Namjoon run! They’re here! We’ve gotta go!”
“Hey, it’s okay, I’m okay, this isn’t your fault baby, it’s never been your fault.”
“Hi there! I’m Jin, I think you two are my soulmates?”
“Why won’t you just tell me Joon?”
“Jin run! It isn’t safe, you’ll get hurt!”
“I’d like to see you try and get rid of me Hobi.”
“I told you I’d stay didn’t I? I meant that.”
“Hi- I- uhm, I’m Jimin, and this is Yoongi. I think we’re soulmates?”
“You get flashes too huh? Jimin has them a lot, talk to him about it.”
“Yeah, I do, my parents weren’t the best hyung.”
“Hey Joon, it’s okay. I’ve been there. I literally used to be you. Villainy isn’t abnormal for me, but I got out, and so did you.”
“We won’t leave hyung, promise.”
“Hi! I’m Taehyung! You can call me Tae!”
“Hyung! Tell me please!’
“Namjoonie-hyung, why won’t you tell me?”
“Tell me now!”
“Aw, hyung. I just found you! I’m not gonna leave because of something as trivial as that!”
“What do you mean your bad? You’re the furthest from bad out there hyung!”
———————
Almost like a picture book, Jungkook is dropped into a story.
A story of a young boy, orphaned, and forced into a world of shadows. This boy had an amazing power, that many villains would kill to have, but this boy didn’t want to be a villain. It was the exact opposite actually. He wanted to help people, to save them from the darkness, but it never seemed tangible.
At least.
Not until he found his angel.
His angel was his only friend, his soulmate, and they were inseparable. With his help the pair realized their dream was more tangible than they thought, they only had to try. So one fateful night, they left everything behind. Monsters threatening them within.
The pair stayed hidden, tried to protect themselves, but it wasn’t always enough.
They were found over and over, and each time hurt worse and worse. Things got very bad for the two lost boys, until they found their shield while walking through a campus. Their shield was gorgeous, and didn’t look like he could handle a beating. This is what caused the boy raised by villains to push him away. He believed it was the only way to protect him, and it was actually quite the opposite.
Once his shadows came after him once more, the pair were ready to run, but their other soulmate didn’t make it easy. For the first time, the boys saw their enemies be taken down with ease .
Their shield protected them, and he would continue to do so for many years to come.
Because the shield had been training for so many years, he taught the boys basic skills. During the day they would work and earn money for their small apartment, and at night they would train. Their dreams of being heroes grew closer, and the orphaned boy finally felt more at home.
It wouldn’t be too much longer until he met their demon and wave. The pair while looking completely different, worked extremely well together. The demon was overprotective and weary, which made the boy realize he wasn’t alone. He could see in the wave’s eyes that he had been hurt just as bad, and the boy knew he could let him in.
The five boys grew closer, the wave being able to tell the others his story, and the villainous boy being able to tell his own. The demon shared his own story as well, filled with violence, and bloodshed. He understood better than anyone what it was like to be raised as a villain. His family was a bloodthirsty pack of them, and he left behind one of the only friends he knew there.
Not long after it was the wave and the angel that came across their beast. However it’s more likely to call him a puppy. This boy was adventurous and rambunctious. He caused trouble and made things lighter in their house. He could easily cheer up their wave on his worst days, he made the demon go soft with gummy smiles and soft eyes, the angel couldn’t help but open up his heart, and wings, towards the boxy smiled boy, and their shield was no different developing a warm protective feeling over him.
However it wasn’t easy for their puppy to get the leader to open up.
He tried being gentle at first, attempting to let the closed off boy go to him, but he just never would.
And just like a puppy who doesn’t get what it wants, he started barking. Everyday he refused to leave the boy alone, and then started bugging everyone else. None of them had a single clue on what to do about this, but finally the leader became fed up. He told their youngest everything fear dancing on his tongue.
He was always so terrified of being left alone, but their youngest was no different than the others.
In fact, he acted like it was no big deal. The boy simply accepted it as a part of him, because it was a part of him. He didn’t care about the villains, or the danger, just that he kept his family together. No one has ever really figured out their beast, because his innocent smiles never let them think otherwise.
When their final piece appeared, the boy was more scared than ever. Because there, somewhere in front of him, is a bunny that only his first soulmate can see. He’s apparently a young boy lost and alone, and he knows that he can’t abandon this kid.
He tries to keep his distance, but one by one he worms his way into everyone’s hearts. He feels guilty for hiding his past, because this is the longest he’s ever hidden it from one of his soulmates. His fear is irrational though, and no matter what anyone says he will always expect the worst.
So he pushes their bunny away. Afraid of what he might say, despite wanting to know him the most out of everyone else.
———————
Jungkook gasps trying to process everything that is surrounding him, but the thread won't let go, it holds tighter speaking to him.
This is me , it says
This will always be me.
Pain, hurt, and suffering. I shut everyone out, only letting them in when I have to. I might shut you out forever.
Do you really want to be apart of that?
Jungkook feels tears sting his eyes. He can’t imagine anyone going through that kind of pain, but if he can make it easier for this person. For Namjoon. It’ll be enough.
“Of course,” he whispers, “you’re not the only one that’s been hurt you know.”
And Jungkook knows this is true, because memories of his own start to flood his own brain. They’re scattered, and fragmented, but they’re there.
He sees a boy sobbing into his mother’s arms, the only chance of being a hero torn away from him at a young age. He sees this boy being forced to realize he won't ever have a soulmate; that he’s going to be alone for the rest of his life.
He sees this boy being raised in isolation, his only friend being a boy with multiple soulmates. Fate’s way of kicking him while he’s down. He sees this boy go through years of training, never being able to stop out of fear of being ripped apart by society.
He sees the same boy graduating with his only friend, and helping him become a hero. He sees how this boy fell in love, but knew he could never have him. He watches him lose his first love and best friend to his real soulmates, and learn to cope with being abandoned.
He sees that fateful night, when claws run up is insides, and he screams out in agony. He sees that truck barrel into the side of him, and then there’s nothing.
Nothing else but a crying boy.
“I’m so alone,” he whispers.
“Why does everyone leave me?”
“Am I not good enough?”
“Will I ever be?”
“Why?”
The boy breaks down sobbing, and Jungkook feels his entire world shatter. That’s him. That’s his story. Everything that encompasses Jungkook in a whole is there. Those are all of his insecurities, his fear of being left alone. Being abandoned. Being forgotten. That’s him.
And he hates it.
I’m sorry.
You didn’t deserve that.
I didn’t realize.
Jungkook laughs even though it’s dull, “You know for a bit there neither did I.”
He tries to focus on his memories, but he can’t hear anything else. He still doesn’t know what his name is which makes him even more frustrated.
“Where are you?” he asks finally, “help me find you.”
The blue thread glows brighter, and Jungkook feels completely and totally connected to it. The thread coils around him like a snake, and keeps him warm and tight. The thread quite literally drags him underneath the floor, and into a bunker Jungkook didn’t know was there. He looks around confusedly before seeing the threads become a little more brighter.
He steps forward trying to get a closer look when he hears a scream.
It echoes throughout the room, and Jungkook has heard that scream. He heard it the moment he connected to the six of them.
It’s Hobi.
Hobi, the first person he saved is bound to a chair right in front of him. Being frozen, clawed, and hit over and over. The three villains surrounding him, one being the freezer, look on with delight. The others are chained against the walls, Taehyung being bound inside a cage with a muzzle. The chains and cage look as if they’re made of magic, something Jungkook hasn’t seen often.
So he looks on helplessly fear and anger dancing inside of his heart.
Namjoon is sitting directly in front of Hobi, a woman forcing him to look at his soulmate’s pained face. Their leader is sobbing, screaming for it all to stop, but no one listens. These filthy lowlifes, are hurting the only people he grew to love, and Jungkook can feel everyone.
His fists curl tightly, fire dancing on his palms, ice curling up his legs, growls escaping his throat, light forming on his back, and his body melting into cold hard steel.
He feels each of their powers ricocheting throughout his body. He steps forward still unsure, not knowing if anyone can see him at this point, but powerful nonetheless. Jungkook stands behind this woman, he can see the way her shoulders shake with laughter and it makes him furious.
His hands reach out before wrapping around her throat, and without a second thought ice shoots out freezing her upper torso solid. Her screams become muffled within the ice, and Jungkook throws her off of Namjoon. The men near Hoseok look on horrified, having no idea what is happening.
Namjoon turns and looks at him shocked.
HE’S LOOKING AT HIM.
He feels his eyes glow, staring into Namjoon’s heatedly.
“What the hell was that?!” one screams.
Jungkook’s head snaps up letting fire and ice coat his body, and then letting it shoot out. The men slam into the wall either being burnt or frozen. He feels his hands turn into claws and he cuts the chains in half. He goes to each chain and rips them apart, he tears the cage in two.
“Bunny- you-” Jimin stutters in shock.
Jungkook doesn’t pay attention however, he’s focused on Hoseok. He rips off the chains, and then lets that light energy flow out of him and into the winged boy. Hoseok gasps into consciousness, and he looks at Jungkook confusedly.
“Bunny?” he asks, “how did you- what did you do?”
Jungkook smiles softly, “Later hyung. Jin-hyung is still out there. He might need our help.”
“If he’s up against, Sunghyon he’ll be fine. Despite being invisible, the guy is still an idiot,” Yoongi mutters angrily.
The youngest then turns to Namjoon who is still on the floor, and refusing to look at him.
“Hyung?” he asks kneeling down, “I know you saw me, what’s going on?”
Their leader seems so small there, smaller than Jungkook has ever seen him. He turns away even more, won’t even raise his head a centimeter.
“Are you- Are you going to leave?” he asks.
He looks at Namjoon with wide eyes, “Why would you- hyung… You-You’ve gotta give me more credit than that .”
He tries to sound joking, but the leader still looks so unsure. Jungkook sighs sitting down completely in front of him.
“Hyung, I’ve said it once. I’ll say it a million times if that’s what it takes. I’m not leaving,” he says with a grin.
“Why?” he asks, “why would you ever want to stay with me? Because I’m your soulmate? Because of the others? Because you don’t have anyone else? Why?”
“Do you really think that low of me?”
Namjoon looks up finally into Jungkook’s eyes. The youngest looks sad, but so mature there. He looks as if he can stand up to the entire nation, and no one can stop him. He smiles warmly at the elder reaching a hand out to point at Namjoon’s heart.
“Were more similar than you’d think hyung,” he states.
“How so?” Namjoon scoffs, “you’re hands haven’t been stained like mine Bun-”
“Maybe not,” Jungkook interrupts, “but that’s not what I meant.”
He rests a hand against his own heart, “You fear being abandoned for the secret you’ve hidden your whole life. I’m no different. I’ve hidden my entire existence from the entire world to protect myself. I’m terrified about what will happen once people find out, and my fear of being abandoned has only grown stronger. I’ve been abandoned hyung, I know how it feels.”
“How is that any different from you?”
Namjoon looks at him with wide eyes, “Bunny- I- I’m so sorry- I just-”
Jungkook simply shakes his head, “Don’t apologize hyung. I’m here. I’m not leaving.”
The leader buries his face in his hands, and sobs. The youngest smiles sadly looking to Hoseok for help. The elder lets out a shaky sigh before sitting down and hugging Namjoon tightly. The pair who have been connected since childhood, melt into one another. Jimin sits on his other side hugging him tightly, and the last two boys watch on with a gentle smile.
“Guys!?”
Jungkook looks up hearing the ceiling crack as a part of it descends. Jin stands there looking out of breath and fearful. Jungkook smiles at him, and once the eldest counts each of them he relaxes. Jin runs inside tackling Namjoon into a tight hug. He looks at Jungkook with thankful eyes, and the boy smiles warmly.
“Bunny.”
Jungkook looks down at Namjoon who gives him a warm smile.
“I’m so happy you’re here, and I won’t shut you out again… I- I love you,” he says.
Static rings in his ears like always, but this time it overwhelms him. It feels like his body is a puzzle, and that final piece has connected. His own storybook flows in front of his eyes.

Jungkook’s eyes flash open two words ringing throughout his mind.
JEON JUNGKOOK
“-Kook” he whispers.
The others look at him confusedly.
“What did you say Bun?” Taehyung asks.
“Kook- Jung- Jungkook!” he exclaims.
The others still look on absolutely lost, before Namjoon gasps.
“That’s your name! Jungkook! That’s it!”
“It’s my name!” Jungkook screeches, “I know my NAME!”
But in the midst of his celebrating Jungkook doesn’t notice how his body starts to glow. Doesn’t listen as the others gasp out in surprise. Only noticing when he hears them scream, and then suddenly Jungkook is enveloped in darkness.
And then,
There’s nothing.

Who is he again?
