Taehyung's POV
"3...
2...
1..."
Tzing
The bullet cut through the air, striking the metal with utmost accuracy.
Clang.
The sniper proudly grinned as the destroyed chandelier echoed in the distance as I leap forward, target in sight, throwing my blades with confidence as it catches him right in the throat. Personally, I prefer bullets over throwing-knives, but sneaking in silencer pistols proved to be too much work.
"Incoming" my earpiece buzzes. I turn around, dagger in hand, but all I see is a splatter of blood and the kunai with the prominently engraved 'JK'. I grin going back to my work.
3 more to go.
I whip around snapping the neck of the incoming enemy and kicking the other in the gut, leaving him unconscious.
1 more.
"V, JK is out of knives," Jhope warns as he discards his stolen sniper rifle. I sprint forward grabbing a pistol from my victim, taking in the sight in front of me. There lies Jungkook with a guy about twice his size with a firm grip on his neck, squeezing the life out of him while Jungkook's hand hovers over the sheathed dagger at his side, refusing to use it. My blood boiled as I pulled the trigger, the bullet dug through his captor's neck, silencing him forever. But of course that stupid bodyguard's gun wasn't a silencer and the current incident was drawing quite a lot of attention. So I drag poor Jungkook, who is still gasping for air, towards Jhope as we crash through the glass window landing swiftly on Suga's van as we drove into the night.
"Mission completed!" I reported to RM as I get Jungkook some water, rubbing his back. He is still coughing and the red grip marks on his pale skin started to take shape. It looks like we have to buy some more concealer on our way home. "I am so sorry, it's all my f-" but before he could finish, I cut him off, "There were a few 'occurrences' but everything ended as planned" RM smiled back telling us to get some rest as we continued on our journey while he called the agency.
Bighit.
The reasoning behind the name is still a mystery to us but our boss, Bang Shiyuk, more commonly known as 'Hitman Bang', seems to like it a lot. It's a private spy agency though many of our requests often spam from the government itself and we are the youngest spy team ever put together by them.
Kim Namjoon, our leader, who goes under the name 'RM' was the first one to be here and the most skilled hacker in the agency to date. Rumors say that the Boss himself picked him when RM defeated him in a hacking match on the dark web but neither boss nor Namjoon ever really confirm it.
Then came 'Suga'. Real name Min Yoongi. Apparently, his real dream was to be a police officer but coming from a poor background, he couldn't afford it. Well, his interrogation skills would put any experienced officer to shame. To be honest, no one in the agency would dare to step in during his interrogation sessions. They are traumatic, to say the least.
The eldest in our team is Kim Seokjin or 'Jin' and damn this guy can act. He is our informant and it's difficult to believe how easily he can draw out information from literally anybody. If you ask him about it he would probably say, "It's all because of my handsome face." And no matter how much I hate it, it is difficult to deny.
When it comes to guns, Jung Hoseok or 'Jhope' is without a doubt the best. If only he participated in the Olympics, I am pretty sure all the medals would be ours. He specializes in long-distance sniping and there hasn't been a day where he missed his target.
However, the member I am closest to in the agency is Park Jimin. We joined at nearly the same time and being of the same age, we bonded pretty quickly. He chose the traditional route, having applied to the agency and gone through rigorous training. As for his skills, no matter how much he denies it, he is a master at seduction.
And the member that joined last, the youngest at our agency, Jeon Jungkook. When I first met him, he was extremely shy and I always wondered how he would ever become a spy, but his determination and athletic abilities proved me otherwise. When it comes to brute strength alone, he would easily win over us having practiced many kinds of martial arts from a young age. However, the thing that drew me the most towards him was the mysterious aura that surrounded him, especially an old worn-out dagger at his side which he refused to use. I am not a very inquisitive person, but I did manage to ask him about it once. "You could call it my brother's parting gift." The sorrow was evident in his voice but with it was another emotion, determination. "But along with it he gave me a mission to fulfill and I won't use it until then." I didn't dwell further, knowing well that the past is not something you can carelessly discuss. But I can't help but wonder about it from time to time.......
I was jolted out of my thoughts as we reached our destination. I swung open the door and headed in, followed by the rest. After completing the required procedures, I hopped onto the local bus, making my way home. Jungkook climbed in behind me, slumping next to me, head hanging low. "Don't beat yourself to it, we all have our bad days," I said. He shook his head, throwing it back on the seat, regret prominent in his eyes. I sighed and ruffled his messy hair as I watch his features relax into it. I smiled faintly; there was something about this boy that always made me want to take care of him. At first, I thought it was his childlike innocence that brought over this protective side of me like the other members but no, it was something different, but something I wasn't very keen on knowing at the moment. "Well, come over for dinner then," I offered. "Junk food isn't going to do those abs any good." He sent me a nod of approval and a faint grin as we hop out of the bus.
Jungkook and I surprisingly live just 2 floors apart and the odds of that happening still puzzles me just as much as before. I still remember that little slim boy I had to help because of his sensible decision of making his way up the stairs with boxes twice his height as he fumbled his way to his room. His apartment consisted of the bare minimum but soon became our hangout spot. It probably consists more of my stuff than his but I am so not complaining. That room had a calm sense of familiarity which he wouldn't trade for anything else. It took time to get Jungkook out of his shell but now coming over for dinner is completely not out of the ordinary anymore. My siblings are pretty used to it and even a tad bit excited when I have him over just like today. "Hyung, you're back! And Jungkook's here too. Eunha, is dinner ready?" My younger brother eagerly yelled as I pat his head. After all, that's happened in the past, they are the only reason I am still able to live through each day. They are my responsibility, my family, my home.
Eunha made her way to the table, remote in hand as she switched on the television and then it happened.
My eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as the news flashed before my eyes. My hands shivered, covered in cold sweat. My vision is blurred as my eyelids shut. The last thing I heard is Jungkook's voice screaming "Taehyung!!!" before my consciousness faded away.
