What had you done in a past life to deserve this? Something really fucked up that’s for sure, you thought as you stared down the barrel of a gun. His gun. Park fucking Jimin. The one man that could bring you to your knees if he asked you to kneel, the one man that, if he asked, you would’ve cut your beating heart from your chest. To you, the entire world was fair game if he wanted it (but he hadn’t wanted the world. “Just you.” he’d said, he had smiled so softly at you, then).
And now he stood, a gun pointed at your head with anger and hurt burning in his eyes. He had chased you here, to this broken down building, up 10 flights of stairs until you stood together on the roof. You could’ve pulled out your gun, but you wondered what use it would be. You wondered how it came to this, but the thought went away immediately. You knew. You’d known the second you walked into that party with him tonight that everything would come to an end.
“What now, baby? You gonna jump? Or should I save us both some time and shoot you?” he asked mockingly, the pet name used to make you shiver with bliss but now… now it felt like a punch to the gut. You had never been on the receiving end of his anger before, he had always been so gentle with you. He had always loved you. From the moment he had first seen you , he always said. There were millions of things you wanted to say to him. I love you. I’m sorry. Things were different when we met, I didn’t love you then. But you knew he wouldn’t hear them. He would only hear lies, or what he thought were lies. Her words were no doubt still reverberating in his mind.
“She doesn’t love you. She was sent to kill you.” her. That bitch. An ex of his, she was obsessive, narcissistic, and had no idea what the word ‘no’ meant. That much you could tell just by looking at her, but when Jimin had pushed her off when she’d sauntered up to the two of you at dinner one night, she had said she would make him see (she actually spat at you then, you wondered if Jimin would do the same now). See what exactly, you hadn’t known at the time. But now you wish you had killed her when she first put her dainty hands on him.
“What’s wrong, nothing to say, angel ?” he snarled, his gun shaking with his anger as he stepped closer. You had felt dread earlier, fear and pain. More pain than you thought you’d be in (you hadn’t meant to let him love you. Wait, no. You had meant to. You just hadn’t counted on loving him back). All you felt now was numb, any pain or regret you felt was trapped under a sheet of ice. You didn’t know what to say anymore. So you decided on something stupid, of course.
“You won’t shoot me.”
“Won’t I? How can you be so sure, Y/n ?” the way he said your name, he hissed it like it was something foul, as if he hadn’t hummed it like all the light in the world was held in the syllables of it before now. You blinked a few times, looking away. Maybe he really would kill you, now. You swallowed, maybe you should let him? What would be the point in escaping? They’ll do worse to me if I go back without having completed the mission, they won’t stop until they find me. Neither will he. You wondered if it would be better to die by his hand.
“You won’t shoot me.” you repeated, sounding far less sure of yourself. He scoffed, a dangerous smirk playing on his full lips.
“Oh, I think I just might. But before then, I’m going to ask you some questions and you’re going to answer every. Single. One of them. And if you lie to me, even once, I’ll kill you” he growled, you met his eyes again before giving a slow nod. What’s the worst that could happen if you do? You were trapped between the devil and the deep blue sea, might as well fuck everything else up while you were here.
“Who sent you?” he asked, his voice hard.
“Apollo.” Jimin snarled again at the name. Apollo was his main rival, Jimin had been fighting Apollo for the city for years at this point. They were the two biggest gangs in the city, the most powerful and threatening. They were evenly matched, constantly trying to one up each other. To hear that the woman he loved was working for the one person he hated most in the world must’ve been painful.
“Apollo, of fucking course. Why didn’t I see it coming?” he muttered to himself before fixing his gaze back on you.
“Apollo sent you. He sent you to seduce and kill me? What a fucking cliche.” Jimin scoffed. You said nothing to this, only giving a short nod.
“And when were you to report back to him?” he asked, you stared into his dark eyes and found the beginnings of hatred growing there. You looked away again.
“ Look. At. Me. When did you report back to him?” you swallowed again, he had stepped closer. You shook your head.
“I didn’t. I wasn’t supposed to report back until I had completed the mission. He didn’t want to cause any suspicion by constantly having me call back to him, he was sure of my loyalty to him.” Jimin glared at that, you stepped back as he slowly advanced towards you. You were nearing the edge of the roof now, you knew, but you dared not look away from him.
“I bet you thought it was hilarious. I bet you enjoyed it, seeing me so… in love with you.” he scoffed again.
“I can’t believe I didn’t see it. See you, for what you were. A snake. ” you flinched.
“I can’t believe I ever loved you.” he said, his voice trembled now. Your eyes burned with tears as you stared into his eyes.
“You know, there was a time that I would have died for you. I would’ve given up everything I had for you. There was nothing I wouldn’t have done for you. I would’ve done anything, anything , to see you smile.” you wanted to throw yourself over the edge of the roof, you looked over your shoulder. He seemed to know what you were thinking. He rushed forward and gripped you by your hair, dragging you away from the edge. You cried out at the sudden pain as one of your hands grasped his hand in your hair, and the other held his wrist in a tight grip as he pushed his gun under your chin. He wrenched your head back so your neck was exposed to him.
“You’re not getting off that easy, baby, we’re not done talking .” you held back your tears and clenched your jaw, Jimin dug the gun further into your skin as he stared down at you. The tight grip he had in your hair pulled you into his body, you shut your eyes as he pressed his lips to your ear as if he was going to whisper sweet nothings to you.
“You lied to me, Y/n. You lied. You lied for a year. Did you ever mean it? When you said you loved me, did you ever mean it? Why am I even asking ?” he gritted his teeth and dug his forehead into your temple.
“I did.” you whispered, opening your eyes to stare at the dark sky. There weren’t any stars, the moon hid itself behind the clouds as if it were afraid to watch. Jimin stiffened at your words, he started to say something but halted. You could hear him choke on the words with him being so close to you.
“I meant it every time I said it. And if I said it now, I would still mean it.” you felt him start to shake again and wondered if it was in anger or something different entirely.
“I told you not to lie to me.” he whispered, you closed your eyes again as your brow furrowed. A single tear fell from the corner of your eye. You could feel Jimin watching your face closely, his grip in your hair tightened and he pulled you further against him.
“ I didn’t. ”
