Chapter 1: Dear Diary,
Chapter Text
“Dear Diary,
I already have my plan. I have written it down and everything. The date, the method, the exact time, and everything else. I am ready. The last thing I have to do was write the note to my brothers, not like they would care either way. They were always calling me painful, annoying, a nuisance, the list goes on. I thought maybe one day they’d all appreciate me, but it’s a little too late for that. I was pondering. Wondering if they would miss me, or they would cry, or maybe they’d just laugh and celebrate. It hurts to think. I can’t help but fear the worst. It’s easier said than done to just go through with it, but I fear that it may burden everyone more. I can’t keep living like this though. I’m so sick of the hate. I can’t stand being insulted all the time. My own brothers hate me. I want them to love me for me. Not for me giving them money, not for me helping them, not for me willingly leaving when their friends show up, but for me. My personality. I’m so sick of it. Oh, my burraza brother is calling me. I should go.”
He peeked his head into the room, “Ne? What’s this?” Osomatsu grinned, curiously peeking at his brother’s notebook. The words displayed across the front “Dearest Diary”. Tch. How annoying , the red clad thought as he opened this “diary”. Keeping secrets from your brothers, Karamatsu? I don’t think so. He was skimming through the pages, boring, boring, boring. He was stopped by the word title of this page. Methods? For what? Osomatsu read through the list, “W-what? This has got to be some kind of prank. C’mon where’s him talking about his ‘perfect’ fashion or ranting about his burazzas. ”
He didn’t notice the tear slipping from his eye, or the sob that came out of his mouth. He was choking on his muffled sobbing. He didn’t want to lose his Karamatsu, his Karababy, his little Karachu. Osomatsu was never the closest to Kara, but the thought of losing his little buddy broke his heart. He wouldn't let Kara be hurt. He knew what he had to do.
This was tortuous. Karamatsu was sitting in the living room while the rest of his brothers had mindlessly chatted about nonsense. Todomatsu talking about a mixer, and Jyushimatsu yelling about baseball. He sighed, and his brothers turned their heads toward him. The mask goes back on, “What is it, my burazzas?” Karamatsu asked with fake confidence. They rolled their eyes and turned back around to continue their conversation.
His smile faded. Osomatsu came running down the stairs in a rush, “Ichimatsu, Jyuushimatsu, Choromatsu, Todomatsu. Here. Now.” He ordered, hiding the notebook as best as he possibly could. The four stood up and made their way towards their older brother. He dragged them all upstairs, and Karamatsu stayed behind, confused.
“Ow ow ow! What, Osomatsu, what is it?!” Todomatsu complained as he got dragged by the ear. He held up the stained, black notebook called “Dearest Diary”. Choromatsu tried to snatch the book out of his hand, but failed as Osomatsu moved it higher. He skimmed through the pages until he found the one he wanted, “Look. Read it.” They stared at the open book, eyes widening.
“W-what the hell is that? Whose is that?!” Multiple voices chimed in with queries of all kinds. They didn’t seem to understand,
“It’s Karamatsu’s. I found it while snooping around the room, and thought it was some dumb notebook of his.” He tried to stay calm and composed since he was the oldest, but tears pricked his eyes as a threat to spill.
He couldn’t think of losing Karamatsu. Ichimatsu was the only one who was silent until a sob came out. They all turned towards their brother. Tears spilled out of his eyes, and just like Osomatsu, he didn’t want to think of losing him. His older brother. As painful and annoying as he is, Karamatsu is still his brother. There have been times where he couldn’t help but laugh at his dumb jokes or be impressed by his coolness.
Ichimatsu tried to hide it, but couldn’t stop the waterfall of tears. Osomatsu wrapped his arms tightly around the purple boy as tears dripped off his chin. The others joined the two for an emotional group hug. Karamatsu opened the door to see them all in a group hug, “What’s going on, my burazzas?” He asked, fiddling with his thumbs. They all turned to the very confused brother. He noticed his diary in the hands of Osomatsu and he instantly snatched it away. Karamatsu hugged the book to his chest in a protective manner.
Osomatsu was the first to say something, “I wanted to talk about it later, but I guess we’re doing it now,” He moved a step forward. “No! Uh...I mean, no need, my burazza! Everything's a-okay. This was something I was holding for a friend!” He swung his arms around.
“What friend’s do you have that have five brothers named Osomatsu, Ichimatsu, Todomatsu, Jyuushimatsu, and Choromatsu? In fact, what friends do you have?” He asked, unimpressed by the excuse.
Karamatsu tried to hold back his tears and keep the mask on, “Lots of friends!” He let this drag on for a good minute before they all just stopped him.
All of the five brothers had red, puffy eyes and stuffy noses from the inevitable crying. Karamatsu couldn’t hold it back; the tears spilled out; the mask was broken. He tried to wipe them away, but thoughts flooded his head causing them to run and run. Osomatsu tried to get close to him, but Karamatsu flinched away. Despite his actions, Osomatsu hugged him close, and stroked his back gently. He made gentle shushing noises to try and calm his younger brother. The other four made their way over to the crying duo, and hugged them as tight as possible. Everything ached in his body, and he just wanted these unwanted thoughts to go away.
After that fiasco, not a word was said to their parents. Karamatsu poked at his food, and despite the hunger pains in his body, he refused to eat. He stretched his arms up. He was still going to go through with it. They were probably being sentimental just because they wanted to shut him up. He got out of his seat, and excused himself to go upstairs. The thought of sleep alone made him feel tired. He was ready for bed.
Then, just as he was making his way to the bedroom, the feeling of vomit rose up in his throat, and he rushed to the shared bathroom. He found himself in the bathroom with the door locked, and throwing up his guts into the ceramic bowl. Osomatsu, on the other hand, sat on the outside of the door, listening. “Poor guy.” He whispered. Osomatsu couldn’t help but feel his heart ache at the sound of his little brother sick. As Karamatsu flushed, washed his hands, and walked out, he was met with Osomatsu standing outside the door.
“Yo.”
“Uh, h-hi. Sorry, was I taking up too much time?”
“Get some rest. Now.” He ordered, completely dodging the question.
Karamatsu tried to protest, but Osomatsu stopped him, “Now.”
He commanded in a stern voice. Karamatsu nodded and turned his head down as he walked to their shared futon. He tucked himself in and the second his head hit the pillow, he began to doze off. Osomatsu turned the light off and walked out of the room downstairs and back to the table.
He looked at his brothers and parents, “Karamatsu isn’t feeling well and is heading to bed early. Try not to bother him.” They all nodded to their parents' surprise. The tension was high, and they were all on edge.
When everyone decided to head to bed, Karamatsu woke up when the last of the brothers was tucking himself in. Osomatsu was awake, scrolling through Instagram on Totty’s phone. He noticed Karamatsu beginning to get up,
“What’re you doing?” He asked.
“Oh. Just getting some water, my burazza.”
For once, he was telling the truth. His throat burned from the acidic bile from earlier. Osomatsu got up with him, and directed Karamatsu despite him already knowing the way. He was just worried,
“I’m hungry so I’ll go with you.” Osomatsu began to dig out a cup of ramen from the box as Karamatsu poured himself a cup of ice cold water. He sat at the table waiting for Osomatsu to finish cooking his instant noodles. The water felt refreshing in his throat, and the ache of acid began to wash away with the water.
He chugged at least 4 glasses of water before Osomatsu’s noodles finished. Karamatsu stared at Osomatsu making his food. He was tired, but not tired enough to sleep. Or so he thought. Kara was dozing off in his seat. He decided to rest his arms on the table and rest his head on there until his older brother finished eating.
When Osomatsu went to the table to sit down and eat, he found his little brother asleep. He couldn’t help but smile since it was such a Karamatsu thing to do. He sat down, and began to slurp down his noodles like a hungry animal. About five minutes later, he had finished his noodles, and woke Kara up to go back upstairs.
“Sorry, my burazza. I didn’t know I would fall asleep that easy.”
“‘S fine, Kara. Let’s go back upstairs.”
He grabbed Karamatsu’s hand and dragged the younger brother to the room. Once they reached the bedroom, Kara slipped into bed and snuggled up to fall back asleep. He followed in after him, and began to play with his hair until he dozed off above Karamatsu.
The next morning, the first to wake up was Kara as always. When he sat up, the feeling of something behind him entered his mind. He looked behind only to see his older brother sleeping peacefully. Guilt washed over him. He jogged to the closet to grab a spare blanket. He gently laid it over Osomatsu, and put his own pillow under his head. He headed downstairs, said good morning to his parents, and began to cook breakfast for everyone.
Last night had him feeling bad for “worrying” his brothers. He wanted to make up for it, “Okay, Osomatsu-niisan likes his eggs scrambled, Choro likes them fried with cheese, Ichi likes his fried and on a slice of toast, Jyushi will take anything but likes them better scrambled, and Todomatsu likes an omelette with salt, pepper, and cheese. Then they all like bacon.”
He mumbled to himself, remembering all the ways his brothers preferred their eggs. He opened the fridge and pulled out the ingredients he needed for this breakfast. It was simple and definitely not a five-star meal, but it was something. Later, he would play baseball with Jyushimatsu, cards with Oso, feed the cats with Ichi, buy nyaa-chan concert tickets or merch for Choro, and give Todomatsu money for shopping later. Even though he planned to do all these things for them, the feeling of guilt remained. Maybe after he does them, he will feel better. Karamatsu cracked the eggs into the pan that sizzled with butter. The bottom of the egg turned white the second it hit the hot pan. He would start with the fried eggs since they were the easiest to do. He sprinkled cheese over the top of the delicious cooking meal. He was hoping it’d melt with the hot egg.
He nearly jumped out of his skin when Ichimatsu came up behind him and wrapped his arms around his waist. He nuzzled his nose into Karamatsu’s warm back. This was unusual behavior for Ichi since he always hit him and yelled at him. Karamatsu smiled and turned himself around to hug him back. He raised a hand to card through his little brother’s soft hair,
“Good morning, Ichimatsu. Are you hungry?” He planted a soft kiss on his brother's forehead. It was obvious that he was embarrassed since his ears were dusted with a red hue and he hid his face in the chest of his elder brother. He just nodded and didn’t seem to want to let go. Karamatsu just turned around and continued to cook. Ichi hugged him for dear life like he was scared that if he let go, Kara would be gone. He finished with Choromatsu’s egg, but forgot to grab plates,
“Ichimatsu,” He called for his little brother. He perked his head up and looked at Karamatsu,
“Yeah?” He answered for the first time.
“Would you get me five plates?” He smiled down at him.
Ichimatsu nodded and moved his arms from being wrapped around Kara to go grab the requested item. The loss of warmth from his back was almost heartbreaking, but it returned shortly after he grabbed the plates and set them on the counter. Ichimatsu cuddled back up behind him.
He jumped at the sound of a new voice in the room, “Oh? That’s odd. I’ve never seen any of my NEETs be so cuddly since you all were little! How cute.” Matsuyo snapped a picture with her phone. He hid his burning face into the cloth of Kara’s jacket.
“Yeah. It’s cute.” Karamatsu added to her comment.
Once finished with the breakfast, he set the warm, food filled plates on the wooden table they’ve all shared since they were kids. He had to convince Ichimatsu to stop hugging him, and to sit down. Karamatsu tip-toed upstairs to their bedroom. He peeked his head in to see if anyone else was awake. They were all sleeping soundly. He felt almost guilty to wake them up.
He gently walked over to the youngest of them all: Todomatsu. Karamatsu shook Totty, but not enough to irritate him, “Totty, wake up.” He whispered with a smile. His eyes fluttered open to see his older brother above him, “Karamatsu? What time is it?” Todomatsu asked.
“It’s 9:00 am, But I made breakfast.” He replied and moved some of his little brother’s hair out of his eyes. He melted into the touch, and almost fell back asleep. Karamatsu pulled him up from his spot, and he shivered the feeling of the cold air compared to the warm blanket. He latched onto his older brother like his life depended on it.
Jeez why was everyone being so cuddly today? Thought Karamatsu. He picked up Todomatsu bridal style, and helped him down the stairs. He set down Totty at his spot at the table. Karamatsu ran his fingers through his hair and Totty nearly fell into the touch.
When he went back upstairs to wake the rest of his brothers, he found everyone except Osomatsu awake. He was still curled up in his soft blanket.
“Oh good morning, Karamatsu.” Choromatsu rubbed the back off his neck nervously, if not awkwardly. He nodded back, and looked over to the eccentric Jyushimatsu. He was jumping up and down until he noticed Karamatsu. He nearly attacked Kara when trying to hug the poor guy.
“A-ah, morning, my little Jyushimatsu, Choromatsu.” Despite yesterday, he tried his hardest to keep this facade on. After the two were hugging him and overwhelming him with affection, they finally went downstairs to eat their freshly prepared meals. Karamatsu sighs with relief and goes over to sit by his sleeping older brother.
He gave a soft smile down at Osomatsu. Karamatsu stared down and smiled until he was pulled into a tight bear hug by him. Karamatsu yelped liked a kicked puppy, and the embarrassment came to bite him back when his saw the smirk Osomatsu had on his dumb, smug face.
“Oh, my little Karachu is so cute. My wittle Kawabwaby is soooo adorabwe.” He used that voice someone would usually use on a baby or a pet. The former flush of pink turned into a deep red. Karamatsu tried to wiggle out of his grasp, but to no avail. Oso kept a tight hold on him to make sure he didn’t escape. Despite how embarrassed he was, Kara couldn’t help but giggle. The two laughed until it finally ended off with a comfortable silence,
“Hey, Kara.”
“Yeah?” His head was resting on his chest.
“You know we love you, right? All of us love you so much,” He stroked Karamatsu’s black locks.
“I know-”
“No, Kara,” Osomatsu interrupted him, “You don’t know, and that’s the problem. You’re so convinced we’d be better without you, but if anything, we’d be incomplete without you.” He rested a hand on his brother’s cheek and made him look up. He rested his forehead against Kara’s. “We love you, Kara.”
Kara had to choke back the threatening tears, “But you all complained about hoping for a middle, or that one of us was gone. You all say I’m..painful and annoying and- and,” A sob came out before he could finish his sentence and the tears spilled like a waterfall. Osomatsu’s older brother mode was turned on. He pulled Karamatsu closer, and mumbled words of reassurance.
“Karamatsu, we would never want you gone, okay? Never.” His muffled crying pulled at his heartstrings a bit too much. Osomatsu would stay here as long as he needed until his face was dry. His baby brother didn’t deserve to cry like this. Nii-san is here, Kara. He always will be.
Karamatsu has fallen asleep cradled in his arms and Osomatsu kept a protective grip on him until his arm felt numb. He sneakily slipped his arm out from under him and used his blanket to cover him. He brushed Kara’s hair out of his eyes.
Osomatsu finished tucking his little brother in, and went downstairs to his other brothers. They all turned their heads towards him with food in their mouths,
“Karamatsu-niisan made breakfast.” Todomatsu was the only one to speak up.
“Is shittyma- uh, Karamatsu coming downstairs?” Ichimatsu whispered to Osomatsu.
“He fell back asleep, but maybe he will wake up soon.” Osomatsu patted the purple boy’s hair and assured him that he was okay.
They all ate their breakfast in silence, but it wasn’t awkward, it was comfortable. The first one to finish was Jyushimastu since he eats like a starved animal. Then one after the other, they all finished up their portions, “Mannnn, Karamatsu has always been good at cooking.” Osomatsu pat his full stomach.
They turned their heads to the opening door of the living room. Karamatsu stood behind it with a tired expression,
“Oh Kara! Hey!”
His face brightened at his little brother. Almost on cue, Ichimatsu stood up and walked over to Karamatsu. He hugged him tight and held him close. They all just stared in utter shock. What a huge cuddle-bug he was being.
Ichimatsu must’ve been scared to lose Kara same as the rest of them. Karamatsu brushed his hair aside, and hugged him back awkwardly. He wasn’t used to getting hugs and especially not from his brothers. Karamatsu relaxed his shoulders, and rested his chin on Ichimatsu’s head.
The footsteps of the others were heard, and suddenly the duo felt 4 other pairs of arms wrap around them. All six of their bodies huddled together.
“Niisan…?” The first voice called.
“Yes, my little Jyushimatsu?”
“Don’t leave us.. Please..” The sudden words from the fifth oldest surprised them all. The other four were in silent agreement, but still shocked them that he was the first one to say anything.
“Please don’t leave us, Karamatsu-niisan.” Chimed Todomatsu.
“Don’t go..Shittymatsu.” Ichimatsu.
“Please Karamatsu-nii..” Choromatsu.
“Karachu...please don’t leave, we love you so, SO much…” Osomatsu-niisan
That’s odd. He felt like staying...just a little longer.
Chapter 2: Dear Karamatsu,
Summary:
Ichimatsu was forced to write an apology letter to Karamatsu after an argument earlier that day.
Notes:
DONT YELL AT ME FOR TAKING SO LONG TO WRITE THIS I WAS STRUGGLING.
Chapter Text
Dear Karamatsu, Ichimatsu sighed, the pen tapping the table in annoyance. He didn't know what to say. Karamatsu and Ichimatsu had gotten into a fight again. Of course, it was never physical, but Karamatsu never fought back. It was so fucking annoying
Osomatsu had seperated the two of them and sent Ichimatsu off to write an apology letter. He tried to just write "SORRY" in bold on the paper, but Osomatsu wouldn't take it it. He said it had to come from the heart. Especially after what they had just gone through with Karamatsu.
Osomatsu walked into the room and sat next to Ichimatsu, "How's it going?" he gave him a smug grin and looked down at the empty paper. Osomatsu's smile faded, "Do better, Ichimatsu." He sighed and pat him on the back as he walked out Ichimatsu never thought hearing those words would hurt so much. He took a deep breath and began to really think. He started intensely writing, breaking the pencil once or twice. He had finished the letter. It had felt like only 5 minutes had passed, but when he looked up from his 3 pages of apology, it was already dark.
He walked out of the room and noticed Osomatsu waiting at the bottom of the stairs. He had walked down and sat next to his brother, "I finished it," he tried to hand Osomatsu the letter, but he didn't accept it.
"Don't give it to me," he said, "Give it to Kara."
Ichimatsu flinched and looked away, "No way ! I finished the letter like you asked, now take it !" He shoved the letter into Osomatsu's chest and ran back up the stares.
He sighed, "They never learn," He looks through the letter. After reading all three pages, he didn't even notice the tears pouring out of his eyes. This was probably the sweetest thing he'd ever seen before. It was beautifully written and you could really feel the sincerity radiating off of it. Just then, Karamatsu walked around the corner,
"Oh no! What's wrong, my brother?!" He panics and runs to his older brothers side.
"Oh, nothing. Here, this is from Ichimatsu."
"From...Ichi?" He looks down at the letter. His heart began to race and his hands began to sweat. He was scared to see what he had to say to him. Especially since it was a three page long letter. He begins to sit down on the couch and read:
"Dear Karamatsu nii-san," Well, that's odd, he never uses "nii-san". "I don't exactly know how to put this, but I'm sorry. I'm sorry for yelling at you. I'm sorry for everything I've done to you. For all the things I've said, for all times I've hit you, for all the times I've purposely ruined your life. To the point you were going to kill yourself. If I was still putting on that "I don't care" façade, you'd probably be dead by now. I just can't imagine one of my older brothers dying. Leaving the house and not coming home. It breaks my heart to even think about it. You're annoying, loud, and overdramatic, but I still love you to death; you're still my brother and I'll never forget that. So, as much as I yell at you and insult you, please remember that I still love you so, so much. I could never live without you here, Karamatsu. You're funny, you're kind, you're loud, you're outgoing, you're honest, and you're Karamatsu. I love Karamatsu. More than anything."
That was page one. Let's see page two.
"Now, to continue, about today: It genuinely annoys me how you try so hard to not care about what I say to you. How you never fight back or even stand up for yourself. You really need to start working on that, Karamatsu. The reason I pick on you so much is to get a reaction out of you. Even if you beat me up, I wouldn't care as long as you actually stood up for yourself. You're too kind for this world. One day, I know you're gonna be stronger than any of us. You're gonna be able to fight back and tell people how you feel instead of bottling it all up. I'll wait for you, Karamatsu. You've got this. Stay strong, brother."
Karamatsu couldn't help but laugh at the last part. He'd never expect to see or hear those words over come out of Ichimatsu. He slowly and cautiously flipped to the third and final page of this letter. "YOU'VE GOT THIS !!!!!" It read in bold letters.
Karamatsu burst out laughing. Even though he was laughing, the letter broguht him to tears. They began to form in the corner of his eyes and he tried wiping them sway but to no avail. Karamatsu felt that fighting back with Ichimatsu was like opening Pandora's Box. He looked up the staircase at their room. He was contemplating going up there, but he decided against it.
Later that night, when they were all sitting around the little wooden table eating dinner, all of the other brothers were arguing or talking with each other, but Ichimatsu and Karamatsu sat in silence. Karamatsu looked up at Ichimatsu and they made eye contact. Karamatsu mouthed the words "Thank you" to Ichimatsu and his cheeks immediately turned a dark red.
"Shut up, shittymatsu !!" Ichimatsu yelled. All of the other brothers stopped their conversations and looked over at the two.
"You first !" Karamatsu shot back. Ichimatsu stared at him in shock along with the other brothers. He knew that Karamatsu read his letter and it almost brought him to tears.
"God, you're so annoying !" Ichimatsu replied with a grin.
"No, that's all you, bitchymatsu," Karamatsu laughed. All of the other brothers were so surprised that they couldn't even utter a word out.
There was a moment of silence before Ichimatsu and Karamatsu burst out into a fit of laughter.
Ichimatsu knew it would be different from now on.
Chapter 3: Dear Osomatsu,
Summary:
Choromatsu is moving out and didn't know how to explain it to his older brother other than through a letter. Luckily, Osomatsu came just in time.
Notes:
pls i was so sad when writing this
Chapter Text
"Dear Osomatsu," Choromatsu wrote, "I'm deciding to move out." he tapped the pen to his head and crumpled the paper in his hands again. There was piles and piles of ripped and crumpled pper on the floor by the trash can. He couldn't even process what to write.
He was moving out tomorrow and he still hasn't written a letter to his older brother. Osomatsu never took them moving out lightly. Everytime one of them mentions it, he gets angry or leaves the room.
Choromatsu didn't want to upset his brother, but he felt that Osomatsu should be a little more accepting of the situation. They were all bound to move out one day. Hopefully. Choromatsu took a new piece of lined paper and picked up his pencil. He took a big, long, deep breath.
Osomatsu grabbed Choromatsu by the shoulders and shook him, "BOO!" he yelled, giggling.
Choromatsu turned so white that he matched the color of the paper. Dread filled his body and turned around slowly, "Hi, nii-san," he waved, awkwardly.
"What's with all the paper? What are you writing?" Osomatsu asked.
"Just-" Choromatsu paused, "it's nothing," he turned back around to the table.
"Oh?" Osomatsu said with a devious smile. He leaned down to pick up one of the crumpled up papers on the floor.
Choromatsu shot up and quickly grabbed Osomatsu's arm. He turned towards his younger brother with an eyebrow raised, "What's up, Choromatsu?"
"Please don't read it," Choromatsu felt his heart pounding in his chest.
"Why?" Osomatsu stood up straight.
"Just," He averted his gaze, "please don't," Choromatsu sighed and sat back down.
"I need a reason why, Choromatsu. I'm going to read it if you don't tell me,"
"It's nothing, okay? It's not important,"
"Seems pretty important if you're that insistent that I shouldn't read it,"
"I-"
"No, Choromatsu. What's going on?" Choromatsu fiddled with his thumbs and stared at the ground.
"Choromatsu," Osomatsu said with a stern tone of voice. Choromatsu took a deep breath,
"I," he began, "am thinking of moving out, nii-san. No, I am moving out," he felt tears welling up in the corners of his eyes. Osomatsu stood still, but Choromatsu didn't dare look up to see his face.
"When?" Osomatsu spoke after a long, awkward silence.
"Tomorrow," he mumbled.
"What?" Osomatsu squatted down to reach Choromatsu's level and it only made him more anxious.
"Tomorrow," he said louder than before.
It was silent again. The only sound in the room was their breathing and even that was barely audible.
Choromatsu took all of the courage he had in him and looked up at his older brother. Osomatsu didn't look angry or upset. He just had a blank look on his face. Was he angry? Was he sad? What the hell was his older brother feeling? Choromatsu needed an answer. Choromatsu opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out.
"Choromatsu," Osomatsu finally spoke. Choromatsu heard his heart pounding in his ears and his palms became clammy,
"Yeah?"
"Why did you wait to tell me until the day before you moved?"
"I," he felt like crying, "didn't know how to tell you so I tried writing you a letter, but I just didn't know what to say,"
Osomatsu let out a long sigh, "It would've been nice to have some sort of warning way before hand,"
"I know. I'm sorry,"
"Don't apologize,"
Choromatsu's eyes widened so big that he looked like he'd seen a ghost, "What?"
"I said," Osomatsu repeats, "don't apologize,"
"Why?"
"It's not your fault, Choromatsu. You were scared and I understand that. I have never reacted well to any of you guys moving out, but I'm trying to change that. I'm trying to be better,"
"Better?"
Osomatsu groaned and swung his head back, "You know what I mean, Choromatsu. Don't play dumb,"
Choromatsu looked back down at the paper on the table, "I wanted to tell you, but I was so scared. I didn't want you to be upset, but I knew I couldn't just up and leave out of the blue."
"Does everyone else know?"
"Only Mom and Dad," Choromatsu cleared his throat, "I was going to tell the other brothers' but I was worried they'd tell you."
"Well, that's going to be an experience tomorrow,"
"Huh?"
"I mean, they aren't going to be pleased either, especially if you didn't trust them enough to tell them this whole time." Choromatsu smiled solemnly,
"You're right, I should've said something. To all of you."
"Come with me,"
"Where?"
"Where else, dummy? To tell them before you leave!" He pulled Choromatsu up from the ground.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?"
"Nope!"
"What?!" Osomatsu didn't listen to Choromatsu's disagreements.
Choromatsu knew that his older brother was getting better and it just goes to show that anyone can change. Even him.
