Chapter Text
Prince Remus flung himself down onto the bed in the room he shared with his twin, they both knew that tomorrow would change everything. Why do you ask? Simple, tomorrow is their twenty-first birthday and it was unsurprisingly roman that was pacing around the room. Remus looks up from the bed that his face was hidden in for the longest time. “You pattering around is not going to help. You know our parents took ten years to meet their soulmate. Just calm down and chew on a pillow Ro.” Roman quickly rounds on his brother a smile on his face, “I know that silly Rem, that not what I’m worried about, I’m willing to wait for the love of my whole existence, but I’m wondering how I’m going to make them swoon as a proper prince should.” Remus felt his eyes roll back a bit “You know that’s not a problem, there has never been a soulmate pair that didn’t work. Look at dad and papa, the moment they met, they said it was like they were struck by magic-.” Roman sighs loudly cutting off his brother, “I know that! I want to be able to sweep them off their feet though. Remus presses his face back to his pillow completely done and deciding to let his brother rant. He couldn’t help but wonder who his soulmate was, who he would turn out to be.
The next day, at the ball held for the Twin princes several bachelors approached the princes under the watchful eye of King Thomas and King Nico. They had yet to feel that feeling that had been described to them for many years by their fathers. At the end of the night both boys were very discouraged, Remus approaches his brother shortly after the ball ends with an idea. “So Roman? You know how neither of us have found our soulmate and we looked at all the unmated people in the kingdom?” Roman nods obviously taking it harder than his brother Remus sighs “I know you want to find your soulmate, so do I, and if it wasn’t for the fact that I love our fathers I wouldn’t suggest this, maybe, we could rule together?” Romans head shot up looking at him “I was going to bring that up myself, but I guess our twin brain clicked together?” Remus laughs a demented sound but roman couldn’t help laughing with him as they take off to tell their fathers of their decision.
The next day, The Mindscape kingdom had two new kings. The twin princes had decreed that they will rule together till such a time that either twin finds his soulmate. As the years pass the twins see the death of their fathers, a blow roman took exceptionally hard, and the fall of their kingdom. They ruled with compassion but times were changing and it was time to change with them. On the last day of their rule, they hug one last time promising to keep in touch by letter as much as possible as they begin their travel to find their soulmate, a locket tucked into both of their shirts to always remember their kingdom, and each other. As Remus faces the world for the first time alone a wide grin stretches across his face. He can’t believe the adventure waiting for him to find his soulmate. While he hopes to find him soon, he won’t be to upset if it takes a bit of time.
~In a kingdom far away~ (sorry I had to, back to the story)
Logan overheard his king talking about the twin kings of The Mindscape kingdom leaving their kingdom after years and years of ruling their kingdom. As a royal scribe he wanted more information, at least that’s what he told himself, having decided years ago he wasn’t going to rush fate. Approaching his king he bowed a bit before straightening up looking at his king as the only one able to do so without being beheaded on the spot due to his kings temper.
“King Janus? Is it true that the twin kings dissolved their kingdom?” The king looks at his scribe a smile crossing his face, “yes, it is untrue, apparently there is this new movement that began in the kingdom next to theirs and they decided to let it happen to their kingdom. To be honest, in thinking of letting it happen here as well, I grow tired and bored of this social legalities of this place. What do you think? Should I do it? The only reason I ask, is your one of my oldest friends, I think your opinion matters as this would eventually affect you.” “My king, to be honest, I do not care, I have read all that I can read here, and learned all I can. I would not mind traveling the world and seeing what I can learn out there in the world.” King Janus nods “of course, I do understand, maybe we can find our soulmates out there, it has to be better than staying here for the rest of our lives right?”
Logan only nods not trusting his words as he wasn’t sure that his words could accurately speak for what he was feeling. The king looks at him before standing to walk down the steps. “As I am no longer your king and now just your friend. I would like to know what you are actually thinking Logan.” Logan looks down unsure “it is hard to explain, I’m happy to be able to travel the world, I hope we can do it together though? I have decided to not rush fate and I want to take my time finding my soulmate, much like you. If this is acceptable to you,” he stares as his king-Friend begins laughing “Logan, I think you have been in those books for too long. We are friends Logan, if you don’t want to go our separate ways we won’t.” Janus could see Logan relaxing a bit a smile crossing his face “thank you old friend.” Janus nods “your welcome, but let’s start on that paper work what do you think?” Logan nods as they head to the hall with the rest of the court dissolving their kingdom in a matter of hours letting their people have their say when the last of the things Logan and Janus decided to keep from their kingdom was packed they set off. Now on an unfamiliar path and hoping it would lead to their happily ever after sooner rather then later.
