Chapter Text
Just one week to wait.
They had been awaiting his arrival for days, and everything had to be perfect. Bedsheets were washed, floors were scrubbed, windows and mirrors were cleaned, and a new room was installed in the Goldstein apartment. The brownstones building had been awfully quiet since Newt had gone back to London after saving New York, and Tina couldn’t wait for that silence to be filled. Not that he made a lot of noise when he was staying with them, but his presence was loud and pleasantly filled the room.
Newts letter was lying neatly on the dining table, where Tina was sitting eating her breakfast. She stared at it, as though if she looked at it for long enough, maybe he might miraculously jump right out of the envelope into the chair in front of her. He would be arriving in exactly a week and Tina was so excited to see him.
Her morning coffee was clasped in her hands, a desperate attempt to warm her up on this cold December morning. She thought of what she was going to do when she saw Newt walking off the boat. Would she run up and give him a hug or give him a formal handshake and a nod? ‘This is a disaster!’ she thought ‘Don’t be pathetic Tina, you’re overthinking it’.
With her last gulp of coffee, she swallowed any thoughts of awkward greetings with Newt.
Queenie bounced into the kitchen as Tina was washing her mug in the sink.
‘Morning Teenie!’ she smiled and gave her sister a kiss on the cheek as she walked past to grab a pastry from the cupboard.
‘You going to the bakery again this morning?’ Tina asked yawning as she went to grab her coat.
‘I sure am! And..um..about that Teen, I was wondering if it would be okay to bring Jacob here sometime when Newt arrives?’ Queenie looked at Tina with pleading eyes. Tina studied her for a moment. ‘Look at her, standing there so hopeful’ Tina thought.
Queenie had been going to Jacobs bakery ever since it had opened a few months after Newt had left. In the 11 months of Newt’s departure, Queenie and Jacob became really close and Queenie had told him everything that had happened with Newts case and the adventure they embarked on in New York City. Tina had approved of coarse, why wouldn’t she? She couldn’t remember a time when someone made Queenie this happy.
‘Sure’ Tina said smiling ‘Why don’t we invite him over for dinner the night that Newt arrives?’
‘Oh Teenie this is going to be great!’ Queenie squealed ’I cant wait until we are all back together again, it’ll be like old times’
Old Times. Tina was reminded of running around New York with Newt, trying to find his creatures, the awkward dinner when he just arrived, his gaze meeting hers across the table and hastily looking away, his smile; when she said she would like it if he were to return to New York with a copy of his book ‘in person’.
Tina shook off those feelings as she shrugged on her coat and grabbed her bag.
‘Meet you in the foyer at six?’ Tina asked as she gave Queenie a quick hug.
‘Yes! See you then’ Queenie said ‘Love you, mean it’
‘Hate you, kidding’ Tina replied closing the door behind her.

So I hope you liked it! I added a little Ginny and Georgia reference there at the end for anyone who spotted it! I’m planning on writing a chapter about Newt on the ship to get his POV for you guys to read tomorrow so hopefully it’ll be up soon. Also, I am from Ireland, so I don’t know if there will be any words we use here that anyone uses different words for...
