Chapter Text
Marinette slowly poked a needle through the cloth, a thread snaking behind it. The process of embroidery was slow but in the end it would look best with the lace detailing of the dress. She pressed the needle through the cloth again, poking herself in the process. Blood flowed out of the small hole in her finger quickly, and she brought her finger to her lips.
“That looked painful.” a voice commented from beside her, and Marinette jumped.
“Bridgette.” the younger chided, putting down her materials and turning around. “What have I said about surprising me like that?” the ghost covered her mouth as she giggled.
“Of course, I’m sorry my dear. The dress looks nice so far, I adore the skirt.”
Marinette smiled as she looked through her friend. Brigette had basically come with the apartment when they moved here 11 years ago. Most of her memory had the fuzziness one would expect of trying to remember what life was like when they were a toddler, but Brigette always seemed clear in those memories. The flowing nightgown, slightly permanently damp hair, and cold eyes, none of those things ever changed about Bridgette.
She was a young adult when she died, something she had never explained how to Marinette. It didn’t bother the teen much, although she tended to wonder about it on occasion. The ghost was always interested in the youngers hobbies, and often watched her work. Bridgette even spoke about the fashion of when she was alive, teaching Marinette to make perfect replicas.
“Have you responded to the message from Graham de Vanily Studios? It would probably be best to do that sooner rather than later.” She spoke softly, floating around the room.
“I suppose you’re right with that Bridge. This is a good opportunity, and I wont have to leave Paris since they are filming here so I should accept it.” Marinette smiled, launching the chair from beside the wall over to her desk. She loaded up the email, and started typing.
Bridgette smiled to herself, before hearing a crash in the distance. She floated through the roof, looking at the Akuma in the distance. She groaned as a red creature flew next to her.
“Well, ready when you are Bridgette!”
“Then, transform me Tikki!” She shouted, jumping off of Marinette’s balcony, letting the weight of having a body again spread across her form.
-
“Hey Ice Queen! Why not chill out!” Chat noir grinned, twiddling with his baton.
“BOOOO!” Ladybug shouted as she launched herself onto the akuma’s shoulders.
“Ack! You little pests show up all the time! Let’s see how well the bug does in the cold.” Stormy weather screamed, flinging the red heroine off her shoulders. The akuma raised her parasoul, and Ladybug flung the yoyo around it as a windy gust filled the air. The heroine tried to launch it away, but just redirected the gust to a familiar bakery.
“CHAT, THE CIVILIAN!” Ladybug yelled, worried gaze sent to a set of pigtails on the roof. The blonde shot off, tackling Marinette as her plants crashed around her porch.
“You alright Ma- Miss?” The hero asked, backing off so she was only touching the wall.
“Oh, uh yea. Sorry I didn’t expect there to be an akuma right there… You should go back to Ladybug.” She stuttered out, smoothing her pigtails.
The leather clad hero winked, jumping off to go chase after Stormy Weather and his partner.
“Hey, the girl okay?” Ladybug asked over her shoulder, using her yoyo as a shoulder.
“Yep, seemed startled but was chill. Anyways got a plan?” The blonde laughed, attempting to trip the akuma with his staff.
“Always do kid!” She laughed, dodging a lighting bolt. Then the akuma ran away, and Ladybug stared for a moment.
“That wasn’t very poggers of you!” She shouted out, pulling her yoyo in.
“M’lady, never say that again I beg of you.”
“Then beg”
Ladybug looked around, trying to figure out where the akuma could have gone. She huffed, before pulling out her bugphone.
“The weather channel has been taken over, so the television tower is where we are to go!” She shouted, and Chat Noir held out an arm.
“Then lets go Ladybug!” They shared a grin as they hurled themselves to where the Akuma should be.
Ladybug kicked the door in, an empty studio awaiting them.
“UGhhhh It was a recording!” Ladybug groaned, a hand hoisted on her hip.
"AND YOU FELL INTO MY TRAP!" Stormy weather yelled, flaring her umbrella at the pair. Ladybug yelped, sending her yoyo into an electric panel.
She summoned her lucky charm,a glow as the magical ladybugs surrounded her, leaving a bath towel."Great,I can clean up the blood I guess!" She said sarcastically, before reaching out her hand to grab a mic thrown at her.
"Oh so you have night vision too M'lady? We have so much in common."
"Chat we are heroes, pretty sure night vision is a necessity." She sighed, before pulling him down as a fire extinguisher was flung at them.
" OKAY MISS.PROJECTIALS WILL YOU STOP FOR A BIT, CHILL OUT?!?" She yelled, throwing the bath towel and smothering the akuma.
" CHAT BE USEFUL PLEASE!!" Ladybug sneered as she kicked the umbrella away. The other hero quietly activated his power and out a emerged a black butterfly.
The heroine got off the blonde detransforming girl, taking the butterfly into her yoyo. Out came a white butterfly, flapping it's cleansed wings a few times before going off.
She through the towel into the air, the magical creatures fixing all the damage done to Paris. Ladybug ran a hand through her bang, smacking her forehead before going to the victim.
" Hello! Are you alright Miss?" She asked, putting out a hand.
Aurore shrugged, taking the offered hand.
" I was just really upset about losing the contest-"
" AURORE PLEASE BE THE WEATHER GIRL HHHHH" another girl screeched, tumbling into the blonde.
Ladybug backed off as her earrings gave a warning beep, and shot Char Noir a salute as she left.
Bridgette detransformed, Tikki floating behind her as they made their way home in the underground. The ghost enjoyed being able to go through objects, and the fact her kwami was able to as well made going to places easy. They floated up to Marinette's room, Tikki hiding in the closet.
"Hey uhh.. Mari can I have some cookies?"
The girl smiled, nodding while standing up to go fetch some. The designer placed them in the closet, and Bridgette sat next to her kwami with the door closed as the god ate.
"Oh while you were gone I went to go check on my plants and there was an akuma outside! Ladybug had tried to protect herself against an attack but it went in my direction and Chat Noir saved me! He was very kind surprisingly." Marinette talked as Bridgette heard the keyboard of her computer clicking.
"Wow, too bad I missed it huh?" The ghost sighed, looking at the see through clothes that laid on her. She couldn't change them no matter how much she wanted to, but it always made the younger happy to study it.
"Yea, oh and I sent the email and was given an address to discuss some stuff in person." The girl chirped, stopping the clicking. Bridgette smiled, looking down at her kwami who smiled back.
"Remember to tell your parents."
"I ONLY FORGOT ONCE"
"And you were lost for how long?" Bridgette teased as Tikki hid in the yarn scraps basket, a nest made. She floated through the closet door and Marinette pouted at her.
"How in the world are you an adult."
"I'm more than an adult, but sure put it like that." The teen rolled her eyes at that. "Right, well I'm going to get dressed for this meeting. I need nice clothes because it's being held at Le Grand Paris." Marinette sprung back up, going to her dresser.
Bridgette listened as her friend blabbed about the meeting, deciding on a button up tucked into an aline skirt. Once the hatch was closed Tikki came out and gave a look to her owner.
"Is she the only human who can see you?" The small god asked, attempting to rest against her.
"I'd assume so, why do you ask Tikki?"
"Maybe it would be easier to tell her you're Ladybug?"
"Oh yeah! HEY YOU KNOW THAT HERO, YEA SHES DEAD AND ME!" Bridgette yelped, floating in frustration.
Tikki pulled an unreasonable expression, nodding slowly. "It's hard to believe you aren't part of her generation."
"People change over time, Tikki. I'd thought you would know this."
