If there was one day when you ought to be allowed to have a lie in without being disturbed, Lionel felt, it was your birthday. Apparently, however, even that pleasure was to be denied him, since he could hear movement in his apartment. He wondered briefly why he wasn’t alarmed, then realised he had recognised the muffled swearing as being Reese.
This was confirmed as his bedroom door opened and Reese entered, carrying a breakfast tray, followed by Shaw who held a birthday cake complete with fizzing candles.
Lionel groaned and sat up. At least they hadn’t decided to sing.
