First Kiss

Summary:

Loki contemplates his feelings for Mobius and realizes he wants to be more than just friends. They share their first kiss :)

Loki POV

Notes:

Currently hyperfixated on Loki so I just want this out of my brain. I'm pretending that finale didn't happen cause I'm in pain.

Also this is my first fanfic so it's probably shitty and the dialogue might not be the best. I replayed clips of the episodes to try to make it sound more like them.

Work Text:

Loki had been at the TVA for some time now, he's not sure for how long because of how things work here though.

While he's bored of the neutral colors all around him and the lack of magic, his conversations with Mobius keeps things entertaining. At first, their conversations were mainly just Loki questioning things and making fun of the TVA. Part of him still finds it absurd that three "space lizards" control everything but he gave up on questioning it. As time went on the two of them were able to talk about more general things. He didn't expect himself to enjoy listening to Mobius talk about Jet Skis and the 90's but he honestly does. Seeing the smile on his face while he talks makes him feel warm inside. He doesn't fully understand the concept of friendship but he thinks that's what he has with Mobius. A lot of the things that Mobius does make him feel warm inside: praising him for doing well on a mission, resting his hand on his lower back while they walk, even just looking at him a certain way. When he noticed those things, he started to wonder if he wanted to be more than just friends with him. He doesn’t want to risk ruining their current relationship but he wants more, he needs more.

Mobius is so patient and kind with him that it amazes him every time. While there have been moments of fighting and anger between the two, it was all justified; none of it was just because Mobius felt like yelling. Any time Mobius does snap he apologizes and reassures Loki that it’s not his fault. It always catches him off guard especially since he’s so used to just yelling back. He feels safe with him, like he can trust him. That’s a rare feeling for Loki and he isn’t all the way there but it’s still nice. The more he thinks about the way he treats him, the more that warm feeling grows. Whenever that feeling comes up his face gets warm and tints a light pink. It makes him feel vulnerable.

He can’t be thinking about this right now, he has to go meet Mobius in the Archives soon. While they haven’t discovered the variant’s hiding place, they did manage to figure out that they’re hiding in apocalypses. He decided to take his time walking to the Archives, he doesn’t want Mobius to question why he seems off. If he were to question him, he would most likely say something rude impulsively as a defense mechanism or just shut down completely.

Loki passes the same bland walls as he walks over there. He still receives dirty looks from many of the minutemen but he doesn’t let them get to him. He’s a god. A mere mortal’s look doesn’t bother him. But what if Mobius gave him those looks? Those looks filled with hatred and disgust- He gently shakes his head and takes a breath when he realizes his mind starting to wander. He rolls his eyes at himself for allowing his mind to go there.

When he finally reached the Archives he saw Mobius tucked away in a corner with a cup of coffee, stacks of files, and a chair pulled up next to him. Once Mobius saw Loki he waved him over with a soft smile.

Mobius spoke in a somewhat quiet voice as to not disturb anyone else who may be around them. “Hey, so these are the files we got for today.” He pulled out the chair with one hand for Loki, “Have a seat.”

Loki did his best to match the volume of his voice, “Thank you.”

The two grabbed the same file simultaneously which made their hands accidentally touch. This has happened before but Loki is out of it today so he becomes a bit flustered.

“I- oh sorry. You can take this one, I-I’ll just take the next.”

Mobius looks at him with his stupid soft eyes, “It’s alright. You doing okay? You just seem a little out of it.”

Shit. He was really hoping he wasn’t going to notice that but of course he did. He realizes he cares about him which only messes him up even more. He tried his best to play it off cool.

“Mhm, I’m alright.” He was hoping he didn’t see through the lie. If he did see through it, he was hoping he wouldn’t question him.

Mobius looked at Loki with his brow slightly furrowed and just softly nodded his head. “Okay, just checking in.” He paused for a moment and continued to look at him, “On a completely unrelated note, you know I’m right here if you want to talk.”

That warm feeling is back. Loki had to look away from him before he noticed the pink tint on his face. He didn’t say any words back and instead nodded his head. He looked down at the files but couldn’t process a word on them. Why is a mere midgardian messing with his head so much?

The two sat in silence for the most part, occasionally saying a few words when they thought they might have found something. They accidentally bumped into each other a few times but Loki really didn’t mind. He found Mobius’ touch warm and comforting.

After getting through the last of their piles they looked up at each other. Mobius was the first to break the silence between them. “I know we didn’t find what we were looking for but still, good work today.”

A soft smile grew on Loki’s face in reaction to the praise. “Thank you.” The warm feeling was back yet again and he was full of emotions. “Mobius-”

Mobius turned his body more towards Loki to show that he has his full attention. This made their legs touch but neither of them moved their legs away. Mobius realized that Loki was having a hard time getting his words out but didn’t want to pressure him. He leaned in a bit closer and gave him a patient look.

Loki only got more flustered by the contact and how close he was. Without realizing, he was leaning in closer while speaking. “This is all new for me but I-I’ve been thinking about us and-” He was cut off when Mobius raised his hand to Loki’s face. It was unclear if he knew what he was doing. The two stared into each other’s eyes, slowly inching closer. Loki couldn’t get another word out, his mind was racing with thoughts and he couldn’t grab onto one.

Mobius gently cupped his face and pulled him in for a soft kiss. Loki knew he could feel the warmth radiating off his face but didn’t care enough. He was focused on this moment, this kiss. This is what he was yearning for. He raised his own hand and placed it on the back of Mobius’ head. The two pushed into the kiss a bit harder. Loki enjoyed the feeling he got from this and the warmth that he felt. He’s had plenty of kisses before but none of them gave him this feeling.

They pulled their lips apart, still holding on to each other. Their temples were pressed together and smiles formed on both of their faces.

Mobius let out a soft laugh. “Does that sum up what you were trying to say?”

Loki gently nodded his head and his smile grew. “Yes, that sums it up.” He moved his head away to bring him in for a hug. The warmth of his body against him was comforting. He never wanted this feeling to go away. He’s holding on tight and is hoping he never lets go.

Mobius notices how tight he’s holding on and speaks to him with a gentle voice. “I got you.”
