Work Text:
Allowing a chuckle to break through, Aiden held up his glass in a toast toward the man next to him. Around him stood a rapt audience, listening in on the man’s overzealous story of meeting his constituents down at a local pub. Full of color and flair, Aiden watched as the man’s red face waggled from each person in the group.
He hated the man next to him, but he was a good ally. Others would have given up on him by now, but Aiden knew that the scotch he was drinking was watered down by the ice cubes he had the bartender put in his glass each time he went up to the bar. And that the information provided to him was good because most of these people thought he was an ignorant drunk who only got into politics because of his wife’s money.
Yes, he was definitely a good ally to have.
An arm slipped through his and Aiden turned his head, slightly surprised. “Hello darling.” Kissing her temple, he felt her stiffen slightly and then glanced down at her, her lips upturned.
“Aiden, love, can I steal you away for a moment?”
“Prime Minister, you’re looking wonderful as always,” someone simpered next to her, leaning in a little too close.
“Thank you,” she murmured, her voice light but her eyes tightening around the corners. “Aiden?”
Nodding, he allowed himself to be led away and then felt her arm slip away. Each seemed to visibly relax, and the swell of the party receded as they went toward the front of the hall.
“What can I do for you?”
“Do you mind staying?” she asked, her fingers clasping in front of her. “Just, I have the flight in the morning and…”
Holding up his hand, he shook his head. “It’s fine.”
“And you’ll be at the house at seven?”
His eyes narrowed and he took a step back. “Have I ever let you down that way?”
Wincing at the snarl in his voice, Freya glared. “No, that you have not.”

“Stockings?” he murmured, leaning against the doorjamb.
Staring up at him, Donna unrolled one stocking up her leg and hooked it to her suspender. “Do you like?”
“You’re going to be a distraction all day,” Aiden growled, more to himself. The full body slip she wore hugged her curves and hid the suspender belt. His eyes narrowed as she slipped the suspender hook against the material. With a little snap, each one was hooked and his eyes travelled to her exposed thighs. Watching her stand, she smoothed out the wrinkles and stepped into her dress, holding her hair up with one hand and the dress with the other as he quickly walked to zip her up.
“Well, it’s a good thing you’ll be in boring meetings all day,” she told him, smiling. “That way you’ll have something to look forward to.” Turning in his arms, she kissed his lips softly. “You should be getting dressed too you know, Sam will be here soon.”
Nodding, he kissed her, feeling her moan against his lips. Slipping his tongue against hers, he shuddered as she wrapped her arms around his waist, her palms flattening over his back. Pulling back, he smirked and kissed her gently. Stepping out of her embrace, he heard her clear her throat, and then watched her fluff her hair.
This really was his favorite and worst part of the day.

She had distracted him from the first time she walked into his office. There were gaps in her CV but she came with glowing references from people he couldn’t ignore. When he offered her the job, she had smirked at him and acted as though it was never an issue.
After the minor scandals he had found himself involved in, Aiden had attempted to make sure he would keep himself clean as possible. In politics this was difficult, but if he could keep his mouth shut at all the right times, and keep to those he knew, he would do just fine.
Except, that all shattered when he offered to take her home, everyone else having left for the evening – morning? – and she always taking the public transportation. Stopping by her desk, Aiden watched as she tiredly packed up her bag and blew out a puff of air.
“Yes?”
“I can take you home,” he told her, watching her stand.
“I live nowhere near you,” she reminded him, her voice edging on snippy.
“So? It’s late, and I think the only thing running right now are the cabs.” Cocking his head to the door, he smiled. “C’mon, it’s not like I’m always this nice.”
“That’s for sure,” she told him sweetly, and walked out in front of him.
Another distraction, watching her walk, and he coughed slightly, his eyes roaming upward to the back of her head. The car ride was quiet, with her casting quick glances in his direction. At one particular red light, she turned in her seat, unbuckling her belt and kissing him soundly, his throat letting out a shocked noise before tangling his fingers in her hair. The light turned green and he pulled away, turning off the road and into an empty carpark.
Back in the corner, where it was dark and the rain helped cloud up the windows, he slipped into the backseat, her following. Lying back on the seat, he felt her straddle him and he cupped her breasts through her dress, pushing them upwards. His mouth settled between them, sucking and kissing and she whimpered when he tugged up her skirt, his fingers pressing against her knickers.
Groaning, he had slipped his fingers against the waist of her knickers and slid them down, while she fumbled with his belt and trousers. It was all elbows in the back of the car, though she was careful not to move her knees. When she wrapped her palm around his cock, he let his eyes snap shut and lifted his hips for her. When she slid onto him, he slapped his hands on her bum and helped lift her on him. She was all soft and curves and so fucking wet around him and it had been too long. When he came, he yelled her name and kept thrusting until he felt her flutter around him and his name a strangled mess around her lips.

The week after, he skittered around her. Cordial, yes, but he was weary. He had let his guard down, and now he had to wait. Too many scandals and he wanted to make sure another one didn’t pop out. Each day he read the headlines of the tabloids, both online and at the newsagent’s shop.
Nothing seemed to be coming forth. A cold feeling was still in his belly whenever she would look at him strangely. He had done so damn much to make sure he would not be part of another scandal and now here he was, looking over his shoulder.
Just waiting.
“You’re not very good at this,” he heard from his doorway and jerked his head upwards.
“Sorry?”
“I haven’t told anyone,” Donna snapped, holding a folder close to her chest. “And I don’t plan to either. I…” She paused and walked into the office, closing the door behind her. “I enjoyed our night together and…” Red bloomed up her neck and danced across her cheeks.
Standing, Aiden walked around the desk, slipping his wedding ring off. “And?”
“And…” She glared at the glint of metal now next to his mouse. “And, fuck – “
“Language, Ms Noble,” he growled, amused.
“I think you like it though, Minister Hoynes,” she reminded him, her head tilted to the side.
“Oh, I do,” Aiden stressed, nodding. “Yes, I definitely do, especially when it’s accompanied by my name.”
“Oh?” her lips pouted after the word, and she put the folder on the desk. “Like, fuck me Aiden?”
“Exactly like that.”

Shifting in his sleep, Aiden squinted his already closed eyes and then smiled as he blinked them open, Donna looking up at him.
“Hello,” he whispered.
“Hi,” she murmured, and wrapped her leg around him. Kissing his chest, she sighed against his skin and then stared up at him through her fringe.
“What?”
Purring into his touch as he ran his fingers through her hair, she shrugged. “Sometimes, sometimes I look at you Aiden, and I feel as if I shouldn’t.”
“Look at me?”
Humming, Donna nodded, kissing his chest again. “Those two years, right, those two years? I don’t know what I’m missing, but I’m missing something.” Worrying her lip between her teeth, she moved to straddle him, her hair framing her face. “I get these glimpses…no, not glimpses, but something.”
Hearing the hitch in her voice, he sat up and kissed her softly. “Donna, Donna, look at me.”
Staring up at him, her pupils were blown, the gold seemingly stretching into the black. Brushing his fingers against her temple, he watched as she flinched and he sucked in a breath. “Darling…look at me.”
Blinking, he watched as her face relaxed and she dropped her shoulders. “Aiden, I’m so-“
“Hush,” he whispered and nibbled on her lower lip, his tongue running over it as it plumped from his ministrations. “Just…hush.”
“Are you telling me to shut up, Minister?” her eyes flashed happily and she pushed him back. Her breasts swung against his chest and she moaned softly as he cupped them in his palms.
“In so many words, I suppose I am.”
With a wink, she licked her lips and shimmied down his torso, nipping his hip. With an exaggerated wink up at him, she blew on the tip of his cock, and then slid her lips down his shaft, humming happily as he let out a low, long growl.

A familiar feeling welled up in Aiden’s chest, though not for the usual reasons. Across the room, Donna was smiling down at younger man, who only had eyes for her. And those eyes kept dipping below her face to her chest.
Moving a little closer, he held back a chuckle as she cleared her throat pointedly, raising an eyebrow.
“Uh,” the younger man jumped and stepped back. “Right, Donna, I’m just asking for a half hour for my boss, that’s all.”
“And what makes you think a half hour is sufficient?”
His tongue darted out and he shuffled his feet. “Well, it’s just…”
“Tell your boss he can have a half hour next Tuesday.”
A grin broke out on his face and he walked backwards. “You are amazing Donna.”
“Who am I giving a half hour to?”
Turning slowly on her foot, Donna smiled up at him and then quirked an eyebrow. “Oh Aiden, no need to be snippy. Besides, jealously isn’t a good look on you.”

Sitting on his sofa Aiden tapped his fingers against his ankle. He held a glass of wine one in hand as the other stuttered out its tempo. Nighttime London sparkled against the windows and he took a sip, blinking slowly.
Any minute now Donna would walk through the door, sit down next to him, and would feel complete. She made him feel complete. Breathing in deeply, he squinted down at the wine and pinched the bridge of his nose.
This was supposed to be easy; it was even supposed to be a one-off. Except, Donna was better than that and he decided so was he. She deserved more, and he was beginning to wonder if he deserved her.
And for the first time, he was allowing himself to think of how he was beginning to love her.
The soft click of the door opening and her heels on the floor shook him from his thoughts. Turning his head, his lips curved his lips upwards and went to rise.
“Oh sit down,” she shushed at him and slipped off her shoes. Brushing her fingers over the back of his neck, she cuddled next to him on the couch and sighed softly. Stealing his wine glass, she took a sip and licked her lips. “You have wonderful taste.”
Flicking his eyes over her, Aiden nodded. “Yes I do.”
Rolling her eyes, she kissed him, pressing into him. Sighing softly as she pulled away, she ran her fingers through his hair, her eyes turning softer. “You really are lovely, you know that Aiden?”
“It helps that I have you around.”
