They met on a mission with the Teen Titans. Ryand’r had crash landed on Earth. To Dick, at the time, Ryand’r was just Kori’s little brother. Over the next few weeks Ryand’r was with the Teen Titans in their base in Jump City. Dick didn’t have much of an interest in the alien. It was about a month after Ryand’r arrived that things changed. The H.I.V.E. Five were causing problems again (in a mall of all places) and Ryand’r decided to join them on the mission. Somehow the villains were actually competent that day and Robin had found himself captured by Kyd Wykkyd. Ryand’r was the first one to notice and he quickly left Starfire to battle Mammoth alone, so he could rescue Robin. Kyd Wykkyd hadn’t been expecting Ryand'r to interfere and was taken down easily.
It went on that way for the next few missions, Robin saving Ryand’r or Ryand’r saving Robin. The two started to get closer, bonding after missions, sharing jokes about who was the damsel of the day. It was around this time that Ryand’r realized that none of the other Teen Titans knew Robin’s identity. All any of them knew about him was that he was Batman’s protege, but that he hadn’t returned to Gotham in nearly a year (Ryand’r had to ask who Batman was and what Gotham was, which he regretted almost immediately when Gar started babbling about how amazing Batman was). Ryand’r decided he wanted to get to know Robin better, even if he couldn’t know Robin’s real name. He started spending a lot of time with Robin and he did learn quite a bit about the boy, who it turned out was actually less than a year younger than him.
It was almost 6 months after Ryand’r crash landed on Earth that his relationship with Robin started to change. He found that when he flirted with Robin it was serious. He started getting more nervous when he was around Robin, wanting to impress him, wanting him to be happy. Wanting to kiss him.
It was another 2 months before things changed again. It was after an intense mission, Deathstroke had decided (for no obvious reason other than to be a jerk) to come after the Teen Titans again. Deathstroke had gone after Robin mainly and Ryand’r had done what he could to help his new friend, but Deathstroke was a strong opponent. It was while Ryand’r was attempting to help his new friend that Deathstroke had made the comment.
“Renegade I never knew you to get so attached to an alien, though I guess the alien seems pretty attached to you too.”
When the fight was over and the Teen Titans had limped their way back to the tower Ryand’r found himself considering Deathstroke’s comment about his and Robin’s attachment to each other. It made him start to hope and wonder that maybe Robin feels the same way about me.
It was another week before Ryand’r spoke to Robin about how he felt. And judging by the way Robin kissed Ryand’r after his confession, Ryand’r had been right.
They got together after that. The relationship had its ups and downs, but they stayed together. It wasn’t until a month after they got together that the rest of the Teen Titans found out about their relationship. Cyborg and Beast Boy both congratulated them. Koriand’r seemed surprised, but made it clear she was happy for them. Raven just looked annoyed and completely unsurprised.
Ryand’r had spent almost 2 years on Earth when the Omega Men finally figured out where he was and came to rescue him. What they weren’t expecting was that Ryand’r would have found his sister and a boyfriend. They were certainly not expecting him to choose to stay on Earth.
