Summary:

The world works as such: everyone has a soulmate that they must find before either one of them dies. If one of them dies, the other person will become stuck in a loop, starting from a specific moment in time. However, the soulmate indicator changes each time and gradually becomes harder to recognize. This will continue until they find their soulmate.

Saihara Shuichi has never shown an interest in finding his soulmate. That is, until said soulmate dies and Shuichi finds himself stuck in a time loop. In order to break out of it, he decides to search for his soulmate, finding himself becoming more and more involved with a certain supreme leader.

Hi! It’s sushihara_shuichi with a new fic. For those of you who read my hiatus note in Game of Cat and Mouse: I know I said that I’d be taking a break from the fandom, but I had this thought of posting my five-part Saiouma Day fic that I have on Tumblr over here, which is titled See You on the Other Side. Idk how the thought even came to me, but I just…wanted to do it. So here we are with said five-part fic that I did for Saiouma Day two years ago 😅

It’s already completed, so you won’t have to wait half a century for a new chapter! I’ll be posting the rules and part one together and then I’ll be updating this daily until we reach the end.

So, with that, here are the rules for this universe!

Chapter 1: Before You Read: Soulmate AU Rules

Soulmate AU Rules:

1. Everyone has a soulmate that they must find before either one of them dies. If one of them dies, the other person will become stuck in a loop, starting from a specific moment in time. However, the soulmate indicator changes each time and gradually becomes harder to recognize. This will continue until they find their soulmate.
2. Just meeting your soulmate isn’t enough. They have to acknowledge/accept them as their soulmate, as well. If they don’t, then they technically “haven’t found them yet.”
3. When they have acknowledged/accepted their soulmate, they need to embrace them in order to complete it. When they hug, they will be surrounded by a bright glow followed by feeling sparks. This indicates that they will have officially “found their soulmate.”
4. If a person’s soulmate does happen to die before they are able to meet them, the living soulmate will feel an unbearable pain just before blacking out.
5. There are some complications and loopholes with this: the loop has alternative endings, such as the loop changing certain events in it depending on what happened in the the original timeline (ex. Angie being the culprit of Ryoma’s murder rather than Kirumi). The loop can also have a set ending no matter how many decisions are made to prevent that ending from occurring (this is usually when the ending is a bad one). But there is a way to get around it: both soulmates can be reincarnated into a different world/timeline if they die at the same time, and so on.
