Chapter Text

[TOUYA, 27 NARRATING: So today, I finally got released from prison and my long-term boyfriend, No.2 Pro Hero Hawks, is picking me up to take me to his- now our - apartment to relax a bit before my “welcome home” dinner at my family's house. ]

Flashes of different locations of this week's episode panel through before stopping at a tall, eerie looking, building. The camera zooms in to see Touya pushing past the big bulky front doors of the institution he was staying at before his initial release and is soon met with a crying man wrapping his arms, and most notably red wings, around him.

“Oh god, you're finally here- you're finally out! I still can't believe this is real!” Hawk says through his tears as he holds onto Touya tightly. Touya hugs the man back before releasing his grip to take a better look at him.

“Well believe it baby, I'm here to stay.” He replies with a smug smirk as he presses a gentle kiss to Hawk’s forehead.

The two are shown to be grabbing Touya’s single duffel bag before Hawks grabs onto him tightly and takes off with a powerful snap of his wings, the two men soaring through the cold winter air as they make their way to Hawks’ high-end apartment.

—THE CONFESSIONAL

[HAWKS, 24]

“Having Dabs back out into the world as a semi-free man has honestly made me so happy but also pretty anxious.” Hawks says with a nervous chuckle.

“Him moving in with me is a pretty big step in our relationship; and considering the fact that the majority of our relationship was getting to see eachother once a week for 2 hours, I’m afraid that once we start living together and discovering more about each other as lovers, he won't like me anymore and might break up with me.” Hawks adds as he looks away from the camera, embarrassment evident on his face.

“But I think by far my biggest worry is tonight's dinner. It'll be the first time Dabi has seen his whole family in three years, and while they have all visited him separately countless times before now, I’m worried he’ll feel as though he's an outsider now that so much time has passed. It's basically like he's getting to know his family all over again so I wouldn't be surprised if he's nervous about this too.” Hawks finishes as the camera then changes to Touya staring at the camera with a straight face.

[TOUYA, 27]

“Oh, this dinner will be an absolute disaster.”

[MEANWHILE, AT THE TODOROKI RESIDENCE…]

The camera follows an excited, and very busy, Himura Rei bustling around the Todoroki estate getting ready for her eldest son’s return. The camera then zooms in as Rei picks up the phone, her daughter, Todoroki Fuyumi, calling her with updates on Touya’s release.

“Hey mom, Hawks just texted me saying he and Touya are back at their place now getting Touya all settled in. He said they'll be ready in around three hours and will be at the house by seven.” Fuyumi can be heard saying through the phone as Rei puts it on speaker so she can listen and work.

Rei makes her way around the kitchen, getting dinner ready and preparing all of her children's favorite dishes as well as a few side dishes to complement the meal. She checks the time before gasping as she sees the clock hit 4:30.

“Oh dear it's gotten so late already? I’m not even close to having the house ready for Touya’s return yet!” She expressed with a worried sigh as she turned to quickly cut a few vegetables.

“Did you need any help, mom? I can come over a bit earlier to help you prepare! It wouldn't take me too long to get ready before heading over there if I start now.” Fuyumi offers as Rei continues with her cooking.

“Could you, please? And if you could, please make sure shoto will be back from his friend’s house in time to get ready before dinner begins!”

“Yeah of course, no worries mom. I'll be there soon.”

“Alright sweetheart, love you! Drive safely!”

“Love you too, mom. Bye!~”

—THE CONFESSIONAL

[REI, 45]

“Touya coming home after years being apart from his family has made me feel all sorts of emotions. Now while I am choosing to overlook his past and the decisions he had made, it doesn't mean what he had done wasn't wrong. I’m just glad he has gotten a chance to redeem himself and prove he can be a better person if he just applies himself.”

“Having all my babies back under one roof has made me a bit nervous however. I will admit I have made my own fair share of errors as a parent and I am in no way any more innocent than the next but I do believe that this is a sign that the universe has decided to give me a second chance at having a proper relationship with my family again and fixing my past mistakes.”

“I also have been seeing someone as of lately and it's been going pretty well, so I had decided that it was time to introduce him to the family. Although I am not quite sure how the kids will take it, I do hope they all at least give him a chance.”

Another series of flashes paneling through different parts of Japan as the sun sets before stopping at the front entrance of the Todoroki residence.

[IN FRONT OF THE TODOROKI ESTATE…]

“Are you ready to go in?” Hawks asks as his wings ruffle a bit at his sides from the icy wind.

“Ready as I'll ever be.” Touya replies with a nervous chuckle as he squeezes his boyfriend’s hand gently, the other man squeezing his back in reassurance.

—THE CONFESSIONAL

[TOUYA, 27]

“I am so not ready…” Touya says as he looks at the camera in fear, sighing loudly and covering his face with his hands to presumably scream internally.

The two knock on the door before a loud “It's open!” comes blaring from inside the large, traditional Japanese-style, house. The two men quickly make their way inside, Touya using his quirk to heat them up a bit as they take off their winter coats and shoes before making their way further into the house. As the two walk inside, taking notice that the rest of Touya's family is most likely already gathered in the main dining room, the two decide to hurriedly make their way there.

Once stepping past the fancy sliding doors of his dining room, Touya is quickly bombarded with teary-eyed women, a stone-faced younger brother who's squeezing his waist so tight his staples might pop out, a tall- but not nearly as tall as Touya- younger brother who stares at him in awe before pulling him into a not so surprisingly cold bear hug, and an awkwardly silent so-called father figure sitting at the other end of the long table.

After getting past all their greetings and having settled down, has everyone finally taken their seats at the table, plates filled to the brim with homemade food. The table is silent as everyone eats before Fuyumi speaks up, placing her chopsticks down to properly look at her older brother.

“So, how has your six hours of freedom been treating you?” She asked as she looked at Touya expectantly.

“It's been alright. Not very eventful up until this dinner.” He replies with a soft shrug.

“And how's living with hawks? You haven't been giving him a hard time have you?” Natsuo pipes in with a cheeky grin as glances between the two teasingly.

“Define “hard time.”” Touya replies, smirking in amusement as he watches Natsuo’s face grimace at the implications of Touya's answer.

“You're so gross; glad to see that part of you hasn't changed a bit.” Natsuo says as he takes a look at his almost empty plate before deciding he's had enough and pushes it aside. Touya lets out a small chuckle as he glances over to see hawks has taken to hiding his entire face, which is most likely beet red, behind his wings in embarrassment from the whole conversation.

“Like you're one to talk, don't think Fuyumi hasn't told me the stories of your “rebellious” phase.” He says slyly as he takes a sip of his wine.

“What? Awe, Fuyumi, I can't believe you ratted me out like that!” He whined as he lightly smacked his sister's arm with a frown.

“Sorry, Natsu, but when I said I’d tell him everything about our lives since he's been gone, I meant everything .” She says with a playful grin as she shoves his arm away gently.

—THE CONFESSIONAL

[NATSUO, 22]

“I can't believe she ratted me out.” Natsuo says with a betrayed look on his face as he shakes his head in disappointment. The camera then cuts to Fuyumi sitting on the chair with her legs crossed as though she were in a business meeting.

[FUYUMI, 25]

“He deserved it.” She says to the camera with a shrug as she smiles deviously.

Dinner proceeds as such; the family slowly warming up more and talking more openly with each other, sans Endeavor who just sits and eats quietly so as to not ruin the lovely reunion, and before long, an hour has already passed. As Rei checks the time, she quickly calls attention to herself and takes a small sip of her own wine before speaking up.

“Now I know today has been an exciting day for all of us, what with Touya's return and such, of which we are all immensely ecstatic. I believe it is time I tell you all some news.” She began, her children all looking at her with mixed looks of curiosity, confusion and slight worry.

“What is it mom?” Shoto asked as he beckoned for her to continue, the other three siblings nodding along as they watched her as she began to speak.

“Well, as you all know, your father and I have been divorced for three years now and while it has taken some time for me to adjust, I feel as though now is the right time to tell you all I have recently, in these past few months, been seeing someone who I would like you all to meet.” She continues, taking in a deep breath as she awaits for everyone's reaction.

Silence rains over the table, everyone staring at her in shock, Endeavor included, as they all take a moment to process her words with wide eyes. Soon enough the table is roaring with questions about who this man is, when they started seeing each other, how they met and the likes.

—THE CONFESSIONAL

[ENJI, 50]

“While I am a bit surprised by the sort of abruptness of the news, I am happy that Rei has found someone. Although, considering my past track record, I'm quite sure the children will be more than delighted to hear that she is moving on with her life and has a new man alongside her who I presume is a more worthy partner for her than I had been in the past.” He says to the people behind the camera, face stoic as always.

Rei lets out a sigh of relief before clearing her throat and begins to answer their questions. A bewildered looking Enji quietly stared at her from the other end of the table in waiting.

“Well, I had actually invited him to tonight's dinner as a proper introduction to all of you, but he had an important meeting to attend to regarding his show and couldn't make it, however he has promised to make up for not being able to come by giving us all tickets to his next show! As well as inviting us to have dinner with him afterwards to properly get to know all of you.”

“What's his name?”

“Oh! What's his show about? Is he some sort of actor?”

“How did the two of you meet, and continue to meet?”

“How old is he?”

“Well, his name is Atsuhiro Sako, he is thirty-five years old and he's a magician. We met one day when I bumped into him on my way towards an empty table at a small quaint cafe near here and spilled some of my tea on him. He had laughed at the unfortunate circumstances and after saying I would pay for his dry cleaning, he had politely declined and said just sitting down with me and having a nice cup of tea would be enough. After that, he had given me his number and we stayed in touch; occasionally going out for walks in the park, checking out a new library or just going to a cafe for lunch. After our fifth outing, he asked me if I would allow him the pleasure of taking me out on a date, I said yes and the rest is history.”

“Wow mom, that's actually really romantic!” Fuyumi says, swooning as she rests her cheek against the palm of her hand, elbow resting on the table facing her mother.

“Well, as long as he treats you right and makes you happy,” Natsuo says, eyeing Enji with a certain cold glare. “then we'll support you.” He finishes, flashing a smile towards his mother.

“Can't wait to meet the guy. Does he have a stage name?” Shoto asks as he slurps his cold soba loudly.

“Ah yes, I believe he said it was Mr. Compress?” She answers with a calming grin.

Shoto, Touya, Hawks and Endeavor all freeze as soon as the name leaves Rei’s lips rose tinted lips. The three young men all glance at one another before endeavor decides to break the silence and speak up.

—THE CONFESSIONAL

[ENJI, 50]

“Oh..” Enji starts quietly in thought before it cuts to Shoto.

[SHOTO, 18]

“My-” Shoto says as he tries to collect his thoughts on the situation before it cuts to Touya.

[TOUYA, 27]

“FUCKING-” Touya screams before it quickly cuts to Hakws.

[HAWKS, 24]

“God!” Hawks says with a laugh as he wipes the tears from his eyes.

“I knew this night wasn't going to be perfect but WOW…” He says through short gasps of air as he tries to recompose himself.

“And this “Mr. Compress,” is he treating you well? Have you done a background check on him? Is he safe to be around-” Endeavor says before getting cut off by Natsuo with a scoff.

“Oh, like you were such a saint. Just because mom has moved on and you haven't doesn't mean you get to ruin this for her by accusing her new boyfriend of being a bad guy.” He says with a deep frown.

“Uh- mom by Mr. Compress you don't mean-” Touya begins before Rei cuts him off.

“Yes. And he has told me all about his time at the League as well as his time in rehabilitation and how he's spent the last few months before meeting me starting up his career again as well as getting his life back onto the right track. He gave me the choice of whether or not to continue to see him after knowing all of this and I had thought it through and decided it would be unfair of me to welcome you with open arms but reject him because of his past when you both had been in the same boat.” She says softly as she recalls the deep, emotional talks the two have had many times before.

“But he's- but you can't! He's a villain! He's not good enough. Plus, he has a weird thing for constantly wearing ugly top hats and that stupid mask of his. A-and he's super picky about what he eats and he's a huge clean freak and he just- y-you can't mom!” Touya says, voice raised slightly as he frowns at the idea of one of his fellow league members dating his mom.

“You're a villain too yet here you are, having dinner with three civilians, two pro heroes and a hero in training, all of whom you had almost killed on numerous occasions.” Shoto says in a monotone tone as he looks around the table before sighing quietly.

—THE CONFESSIONAL

[SHOTO, 18]

“Touya needs to stop being a hypocrite and throwing a fit before I make dad pull up a list of all the crimes he alone has committed from the past eleven years before getting locked up in rehabilitation.” Shoto says as he rolls his eyes and looks at his phone before nodding with approval.

“Bakugo and Midoriya agree with me as well.”

“He clearly makes mom happy and obviously he's changed for the better if she thinks he's good enough to introduce to her precious children.” He adds on as he chugs the rest of his pepsi.

Rei rests her hand over shoto’s in gratitude as she nods towards the rest of them.

“I know you may all be a bit wary of him, but please give him a chance. For me?” She says softly as she looks at all of her children with pleading eyes.

While still a bit on edge, the three eldest children give in and nod with acceptance as they continue the rest of their dinner, hawks occasionally striking up a conversation about anything random as to lighten the mood.

“Actually now that we have gotten all that done and over with, I too, have an announcement to make.” Shoto begins as he sits up straight, looking Enji dead in the eyes.

“I’m so hella gay and invited my boyfriends over here tonight because if I just came out like this you wouldn't take me seriously so I took the liberty to have them come over for a sleepover as proof that I am now apart of the disappointment squad for being mega triple fruity.” Shoto says with a straight face, no emotion in his voice other than seriousness before he hears the doorbell ring.

“And that's them.” Is all he says before he stands up to go open the door, leaving the rest of his family to stare at his now empty seat in shock.

—THE CONFESSIONAL

[TOUYA, 27] [HAWKS, 24]

“It's another win for the gays!” Touya cheers as Hawks laughs and joins him joyfully, high-fiving each other with wide smiles.

[NATSUO, 22]

“Okay now I just think that if all of your kids turned out gay, maybe it's a sign that grandkids was never going to be an option.” Natsuo shrugs as he smirks victoriously at the camera.

[FUYUMI, 25]

“Oh my goodness is it the two boys Shoto keeps telling me about? Whenever he'd come home for the holidays when he was a bit younger he always mentioned these two boys from his class and I never paid much attention to it, just thinking they were really good friends but now I understand… Ah!! I’m so happy for him, this is so exciting!”

The three boys walk back into the room after having dropped off their things in Shoto's room, the blond and greenette standing behind the youngest Todoroki awkwardly. After a few more unbearable moments of silence, Midoriya speaks up first, bowing deeply in anxiousness as he introduces himself.

“H-hello! I-i am Izuku Midoriya. It's very nice to meet you all!” He squeaks out as Bakugo jabs him with his elbow.

“Stupid Deku, stop being so nervous it ain’t that big of a deal. And knowing Shoto, half of these people already know more about us than our own classmates.” He says with a tsk, rolling his eyes before introducing himself as well.

“Name’s Katsuki Bakugo, I’m these two idiot’s boyfriend.” He says in a hoarse voice as he bows shortly as well before standing up straight, eyes meeting with Endeavor and flashing him an icy glare.

“I-it’s nice to meet you both! Please, have a seat and join us!” Fuyumi says, stumbling on her words slightly as she stands up and rushes over to make room for them at the table.

“Have the two of you had any dinner yet? Help yourselves to anything you'd like.” Rei says with a gentle smile as she nods for them to sit down in the now open spots next to Shoto.

The two boys glance at each other before nodding back quietly and sitting down, Shoto grabbing both of their hands and resting them on top of the table as he stares down Endeavor, waiting for his reaction.

Endeavor stares at their clasped hands with a frown as he huffs before looking away. Touya, having caught the large man having a mini fit, sits up straight and smirks to himself before speaking up.

“So, dad, how does it feel knowing your kids are all gay?”

Fuyumi coughs, sending an icy glare towards Touya as Hawks pinches his thigh under the table while feigning innocence.

“S-so! How long have you all been dating?” Fuyumi then asks before Enji has the chance to reply.

“A couple months now-” Shoto replies before getting cut off by Midoriya.

“2 months and 15 days and approximately 72000 seconds.”

“Wow you sure know your math, kid.” Natsuo says as he gives the greenette a thumbs up.

The night cares on as they finish up dinner and soon begin to put away and wash any dirty utensils and dishes. The family all separate into their own spaces for the rest of the night, having been tired out from all the excitement of the day. The three young boys have yet to retreat to Shoto’s bedroom, instead opting to watch a few All Might films on the large flat screen tv in the living room. Fuyumi has already left to go rest in her old room, Rei as well, as Natsuo is left to finish cleaning up the kitchen. Dabi, Hawks, and Endeavor by now have all left for their own apartments.

The camera slowly fades to black after having flashed a quick slideshow of each member of today's episode doing their nightly routine and heading to bed.

Chapter Text

[HAWKS, 24 — CONFESSIONAL]

“I pulled some strings and got myself a rare three-day break. Gotta say, after everything… I think me and Dabs really need this. No patrols, no meetings, no hero work. Just us, some snacks, a little family chaos—y’know, regular civilian shit. Which I’m not used to, but I’m trying. For him.” Hawks shrugs with a grin, wings twitching behind him before cutting to black.

The camera cuts to Touya curled up on Hawks’ massive sectional, an oversized hoodie drowning him and his half-dried hair sticking out in random directions. A mug of black coffee sits precariously close to the edge of the table.

“Why are you up so early?” Hawks asks, voice rough from sleep as he stumbles into the living room in sweats and a tank top.

Touya shrugs. “Couldn’t sleep. Too quiet. You got birds chirping in here or something?”

“I am the birds, babe.” Hawks leans down, pecks his temple, then plops next to him. “Today’s agenda: visit Fuyumi and Rumi. No politics, no pro hero talk, just vibes. That cool with you?”

“Only if there’s food,” Touya grins.

[SCENE: FUYUMI & RUMI’S PLACE]

The women’s cozy house is an earthy mix of houseplants, pastel walls, and the faint smell of incense. Fuyumi opens the door and immediately pulls Touya into a hug.

“You look healthier,” she says, eyes scanning him with big sister instinct. “Don’t lie to me like that.” He smirks. Rumi appears behind her, towel slung over her shoulder from an early training session. “Dabi. Wings. Welcome.”

“God, you’re still calling me that?”

“Of course. It’s nostalgic.”

They settle into the kitchen, the table already set with tea and snacks. Hawks chats animatedly with Fuyumi while Rumi quizzes Touya on his adjustment to city life. “I still can’t believe y’all are living together now,” Fuyumi teases. “That’s a huge step.”

“It’s a little weird,” Touya admits. “He folds my socks.”

“You need socks to be folded when you leave them everywhere like landmines,” Hawks mutters, sipping his tea. Rumi laughs, kicking her feet up on the chair beside her. “I give it a week before you start labeling food in the fridge.”

“Already did,” Hawks says, grinning. “He drank my last strawberry protein shake and I nearly cried.” They all erupt into laughter just as the front door opens.

[BAKUGO, 19 — ENTERS]

“Yo, Fuyumi! I brought lunch—where do you want the trays?”

“Kitchen, sweetheart,” Fuyumi calls. Bakugo nods once, sets down the food, then notices the living room situation. His brows lift. “Oh. This is a whole… gathering.”

“Welcome to Tea Time with the Gays,” Hawks says, arms stretched behind his head. “We were just trash-talking each other’s habits.” Bakugo scoffs with a roll of his eyes. “Typical. So who’s the messiest?” Touya and Hawks point at each other at the exact same time. Rumi snorts. They all sit around the table again, Bakugo included, sharing food, stories, and unsolicited opinions on Rei’s new boyfriend. Fuyumi leans over and says in a low voice, “I’m honestly surprised mom managed to pull a man who wears more eyeliner than I do.”

“Girl, she did not choose the low-dramatic route,” Rumi agrees. “It’s almost poetic,” Touya mutters. “My ex-coworker is now my stepdad.”

Bakugo chokes on his water.

[CUT TO: TODOROKI RESIDENCE]

Inside the Todoroki estate, Shoto balances precariously on a stool as he hooks a new curtain rod into place. Deku stands beneath him, nervously holding it steady. Natsuo lounges on the couch, lazily sorting curtain hooks. Rei peeks in with a smile. “How’s it going, boys?”

“Shoto’s about to impale himself,” Deku replies, eyes wide. “I am fine,” Shoto says flatly as he screws in the final piece and hops down. “I still think these curtains are too pink,” Natsuo says. “It’s giving ‘teen girl from 2006.’”

“They were on sale,” Rei sighs. “Besides, I like them.”

“Well if you like ‘em, then they’re perfect.” Natsuo grins, then turns to Deku. “Hey, didn’t you have that tea thing with All Might today?”

“Oh shoot! Yes, I have to go!” Deku scrambles to collect his bag. “Thanks for letting me help, Rei-san. I’ll see you all tomorrow at the show!”

“Be safe, Izuku!” Rei calls out. When he’s gone, Shoto sits beside Natsuo and sighs. “So… Touya’s really back.”

“Yep.”

“I’m still waiting for him to combust into smoke and disappear.”

“He might if you keep feeding him spicy ramen every time he visits.” They both chuckle as Rei smooths out the curtains behind them. “I know it’s been an adjustment, but… I really am proud of how far all of you have come. And I know Touya is, too. Even if he won’t admit it.”

“Yeah…” Shoto nods. “We’re figuring it out.”

[NEXT DAY — EVENING SHOWTIME]

The entire Todoroki clan (plus partners) trickle into a classy, velvet-trimmed theater in central Musutafu. Posters of ‘Mr. Compress: The Illusions of Redemption’ plaster the walls. Touya pulls his hoodie lower over his eyes. “This is weird. Being here.”

“You’ll live,” Hawks mutters, offering popcorn. “Besides, it’s cute your mom dragged us out here like it’s a middle school talent show.” Fuyumi, already in her seat, waves them over. Rumi sits next to her, arms crossed and alert like she’s about to tackle a villain if the magic goes sideways. Bakugo slides into the seat next to Shoto, glaring at his playbill. “Why is this man wearin’ a damn top hat on the cover like it’s 1887?”

“He’s committed to the bit,” Touya says dryly. Before the lights dim, Natsuo walks in with a man no one recognizes—tall, white-haired, gray eyes soft but alert, hands neatly tucked in his pockets. Rei’s brows furrow with a curious smile. “Natsuo, is this…?” Natsuo clears his throat. “Yeah, uh. Everyone, this is Tenko. My boyfriend. We’ve been together for a year now.”

The room stills. Bakugo drops his popcorn. Fuyumi’s jaw slackens. “Tenko Shimura? Like… Shigaraki?” Shoto’s eyes narrow slightly. Hawks’ feathers bristle just enough to be noticed.

And Touya—Touya freezes, expression unreadable.

[TOUYA, 27 — CONFESSIONAL]

“…Okay. Wow. That’s who he’s been dating?” He runs a hand over his face and laughs bitterly. “We used to mess around a few years ago. Friends with benefits type shit. Nothing serious. But still… Natsuo? Really?” His smirk fades. “I got some thoughts. Definitely got some thoughts.”
