The first time Prowl met Jazz, the saboteur scrutinized him for an uncomfortably long time— which Prowl had expected— and then said, “Ah, you’re my enforcer conjunx, ain’tcha?”
That, was very unexpected.
“Absolutely not.” Prowl politely replied to the crazy mech, eyeing the offered servo warily while putting his own servos firmly behind his back, thus he could guard them safely. You couldn’t be more careful with madness, it may spread by touch, who knew.
“Uhm, well, it’s more like once I’ve asked ya to be mah conjunx and ya said okay…”
It’s not getting any better. “No, it didn’t happen.”
Optimus Prime conveniently got a comm. call needing his full attention then excused himself.
As newly promoted head strategist, Prowl didn’t need tac net to told him Prime made that up, he pushed that thought aside though, not wanting to lose faith of their reliable leader so quickly.
The TIC just lightly waved Optimus off. “Let me finish it. And ya said, okay, only if you being a good mechling.”
Now it sounded terrible, Prowl was about to find his cuffs if it wasn’t himself that being accused of— oh, wait.
It happened, he recalled.
---
“Can ya be mah conjunx?”
The surprised enforcer gave the mechling a considering look. “Are you old enough to say that word?”
“Of course Ah am!” Little Jazz puffed his chest out, “Ah like ya, and you’re going to come home with me…”
“Escort you back.” Prowl corrected mildly, which sadly failed to reach the energetic little mechling’s audios.
“…and, and we are holding servos.” Jazz lifted their joining servos to emphasize, “so we can be conjunxes, righ'?”
“No.”
“But the stories said differently!”
Barricade could hold back his giggles no more, which earned him a resentful look. “If you’re not going to help, at least go away.”
“Ouch, that hurt, Prowl.”The black and purple enforcer dramatically put a servo on his hood, “you are being proposed! I have to witness it, and lend you my shoulder just in case you are too excited to stand on your own.”
“That’s quite thoughtful of you.” Prowl sounded so very excited that nearly be mistaken as deadpanned.
“Yeah. Normally you can use your proposer’s shoulder but,” Barricade eyed those little shoulders sympathetically, “it will be kinda awkward.”
Determined that this mech was no use, Prowl turned back to the mechling, trying a different tactic this time. “We can’t. See, you don’t even know my name.”
“I know. You’re Prowl, he just called you. Aaaannd I like ya name too.” Prowl stared at the bright, but somehow kind of wicked grin.
Sly little thing.
The mystery (hysterical) giggles turned into cackles at his back.
“Barricade, it’s serious.”
“Okay, okay… just… a moment.” That mech was struggling to stand straight. It seemed he needed someone’s shoulder more, and Prowl won’t offer his.
The senior enforcer whispered something to his unbelieving partner, “…just say what I told you.”
“It felt improper to me.”
“Many things are not proper enough to you, but they are efficient, including this little guy.” Barricade motioned to the impatient Polyhexian, who’s rocking back and forth on his ped as trying to get Prowl’s attention by squeezing those white digits, “I’ve met no one better at getting under your plating than him.”
“He’s a mechling yet quite inventive at arguing, I can’t even chastise him properly.” The monochrome one huffed.
Barricade urged, “come on, I got your back.” The smirk and unnecessarily pat at the small of Prowl’s back made him wonder if Barricade was trying to make a terrible pun.
Having no choice but relying on partner’s questionable social skills, Prowl took in a vent, made his mind.
“Sooooo,” Jazz bounced up and down expectantly, radiating hopefulness.
“If you promise to come back home without trouble, do not run off and get yourself lost on the other side of the city anymore,”
That’s not the line, Prowl could hear Barricade muttering, but only flickered a door-wing to tell him shut whatever the ridiculousness up, “or explore unknown facilities and get trapped,”
“That’s an accident! And Ah was just curious!”Jazz whined.
