Work Text:
Katsuki can’t remember ever giving weddings much thought. He only remembers being dragged by his parents to a few when he was little, falling asleep on random chairs with the music blasting in the background and waking up in his bed the next day. He’s never been to any as an adult so he can’t say he has much of an opinion.
Even though Deku and he have been dating for quite some time the topic has never really come up in conversation. Too busy working their way up the hero charts, working towards opening a hero agency together that it’s never really come up. He knows he wants to be with Deku forever, of course. There’s no doubt in his mind. Deku is it for him, has always been it.
When Kirishima asks him to be his best man, weddings turn into more than a passing thought. He’s supposed to make Kiri's life a little easier for his special day so he helps him choose a tux. Helps him through the random jitters of “Kats what if I’m not enough?” “Is this a mistake? What if Mina changes her mind?”
They’re all silly thoughts that pop up in shitty hairs’ mind and he’s valid of course but it's up to Katsuki to knock some sense into him.
All the work that goes into weddings blows Katsuki’s mind. Everything is scheduled to make the perfect day and it makes him think that it's a little too much. He wouldn’t want every second of his wedding day planned out. That just leaves room for disaster, he thinks.
And during all the time that per scribes the wedding he has little flashes of what it would be like. When they’re picking a tux for Kiri he wonders what color would look best on Deku. When they’re looking at wedding bands he wonders if gold would look prettiest on Deku's freckled skin. What flowers would the nerd choose? What kind of venue? Would it be outside or inside? He hopes it’s outside. Maybe a March wedding.
They’re all passing thoughts but as the days get closer to Kirishima and Mina's wedding they turn into a little more and all he can think about is Deku.
***
After a whole morning of planning a bachelor party it's already night by the time Katsuki gets home from patrol. It’s a little later than usual and he finds Deku already showered and changed into sweats and a tank top.
Still in his hero suit, soot on his face, he drags himself to the couch. Deku takes one look at him in the soft glow of the living room lamp and opens his arms.
And Katsuki wonders when Deku became everything. He sifts through his memories together to untangle them all, but all he sees is green. Maybe it’s always been like this.
He drops his gauntlets on the floor and crawls over Dekus legs to collapse on top of him, tucks his face under his chin, and exhales.
“Welcome home Kacchan,” Deku says softly as he pushes his fingers into Katsuki’s hair. His scalp feels hypersensitive and aching he almost whines at the contact.
“M’ gonna marry you one day,” Katsuki murmurs, doesn’t really realize what he said. All he hears is a hitch in Dekus breath but he's so tired to look up. His eyelids feel like lead, and he closes his eyes, inhales the clean smell of Deku's skin.
He falls asleep to the sound of Deku's beating heart and dreams of scarred hands and green eyes and golden wedding bands.

The day of Kiri and Mina's wedding finally comes and Katsuki makes sure shitty hair doesn’t mess up the best day of his life and he tells him as such.
He’s so in awe when he watches the way Kirishima's face turn from nervousness to pure happiness when he catches eye of Mina walking down the aisle and he feels nothing but pure happiness for his best friends.
The rest of the day passes by in a blur. They eat and dance and cheer and dance some more.
Mina throws her bouquet and when Round Cheeks catches it everyone cheers, a look of excitement on her face as she turns to face Iida. Then it’s Kirishima's turn to throw the garret and Katsuki’s a little tired now just going with the motions but then he hears him say that whoever catches it will be the next one to get married and suddenly Katsuki is all ears.
He sees the flimsy material fly above them and if he pushes someone out of the way he doesn’t notice. When he catches it in his hand his heart is beating loud in his chest.
He stands there for a second and looks over and catches sight of Deku who is watching him with a smile that overtakes his face, phone in hand because of course the nerd would be snapping pictures like crazy. He looks so damn happy all Katsuki can think about is that he’s going to marry Deku.
He runs towards him and the damn nerd opens his arms for him like he does every night and all he can do is pick Deku up in his arms and twirl him around.
Deku yelps and laughs. Katsuki just grins, pats the back of his thighs consolingly as he sets him back down.
“We’re next, nerd,” he says to him because even though Katsuki has never been sure of a lot of things, this is a truth he’s known for a long time, he knows that now.
Deku's face is close, nodding furiously, with his ridiculous eyelashes and sparkling, fond eyes, he can just make out that he’s beginning to cry because of course, he is. He’s also blushing like crazy and Katsuki feels knocked sideways by the surge of emotion he feels for Deku. The nerd is looking at him like the whole universe just opened up for him but he thinks it's the other way around.
Katsuki is so in love he feels it with every breath.
