Nico, Hazel, Reyna, and Piper had a tradition, every Friday the thirteenth they would shadow travel to a random mall in the middle of the night and have an elaborate sleepover. Tonight they were at the Mall of Louisiana.
“Damn this is spooky,” Piper said while they walked down the deserted halls.
“You say that every time,” Reyna said with an eye roll.
“And every time you have a sword up your ass,” Piper retorted back winking.
Reyna let a grumble before turning back around.
“Ooh, this store looks fun!” Hazel exclaimed pointing at Spencer’s.
Piper and Nico shared a mischievous smile before agreeing.
Reyna steps towards the metal grate and runs her hands over it before finding the switch to pull it up.“Yeah, we should go inside!” Piper says. “Mhm yeah!” Nico responds nodding his head.
The grate let out a shriek as it rolled up the track to the ceiling. Piper walked in first and turned on the lights.
Nico immediately walked to the jewelry section looking at various collars and chokers. He grabbed a studded collar with rainbow spikes. He then grabbed a pair of scissors from his pocket and cut the tag and security fob. He shoved the collar into his backpack before walking towards the tarot cards.
Piper was in the back by the lingerie looking at all the different outfits. She grabbed a white mesh one piece and asked, “Yo Nico you think this would look good on me?”
“Yeah I bet Shel would like it,” He replied with a smirk.
Piper flipped him off before putting the clothes back.
“Hey, y’all what are vibrators?” Hazel asked from the other side of the store.
Piper and Nico burst out laughing as they heard a whispered explanation by Reyna.
“Oh-” Hazel’s eyes widened in realization “-I wish they had these fuckers back in the 40s,” She admitted before walking towards the lava lamps.
Nico let out a chuckle and shook his head fondly before walking towards the front of the store and grabbing a leather jacket.
“Are you sure you need another one?” Piper asked from behind him.
“Says the girl who owns 20 different pairs of jeans,” Nico retorted.
“Touche,”
“Do y’all know if they have a mattress store here?” Reyna asked from the back of the store.
“I think they might have a Sears,” Nico responded.
“Yeah, I saw a sign on the way in,” Hazel piped up from the other side of the store.
“Ok but we have to stop at Starbucks first,” Piper said authoritatively.
“Yes but also Auntie Anne’s. I am craving some pretzels,” Nico said.
“Ok then let’s go,” Reyna said, walking out of the store holding a moon-themed blanket, an incense holder, and some jewelry.
Nico followed her holding a leather jacket and various collars.
Hazel and Piper were last to leave but neither of them had gotten anything.
They walked downstairs to the Starbucks and Auntie Anne’s.
Piper went behind the counter and started making herself a frappucino.
“Do you guys want anything?” She asked.
“Yeah, can I get a caramel latte?” Hazel asked.
“Can you just pour a shit-ton of expresso into a cup for me?” Nico called out from behind the Auntie Anne’s booth.
“I’ll have a caramel frap,” Reyna said from next to Nico.
“I gotch y’all,” Piper said, as she started to make their drinks.
“Do you guys want any pretzels,” Nico called out.
“Yeah I’ll take a cup of nuggs,” Hazel said.
“Yeah I’ll take a pretzel,” Piper called out.
“Okie doke,” Nico responded before disappearing back under the counter with Reyna.
Nico and Reyna popped back up from under the counter holding a variety of pretzels and dips.
“Come get your coffee!” Piper called out from behind the counter.
Hazel walked up to the counter and grabbed her latte.
“Thanks, babes,” She told Piper as she winked.
“No prob bae,” Piper replied suavely.
“Ugh stop flirting or I’ll tell Shel,” Nico complained from behind Hazel.
“You’re just jealous ‘cause your boytoy isn’t here,” Hazel teased.
“He’s not my boytoy!” Nico exclaimed indignantly.
“Then why did I see you two getting freaky behind the Apollo cabin the other day,” Piper butted in.
“We weren’t getting freaky!” Nico defended, his ears turning red.
“But there was deffers tongue,” Piper conceded.
“Yeah,” Nico relinquished.
“Ok, now that we’re done bullying Nico can we go find a place to sleep?” Reyna asked, attempting to gesture with her arms full of various pretzels.
“Yeah, let’s go!” Hazel agreed enthusiastically, precariously waving her latte.
“I think Sears is this way,” Nico said, pointing left.
“Okie dokie,” Piper said, skipping in the direction of the Sears.
The quartet walked in companionable silence as they headed to Sears.
“Guys stop!” Hazel yelled.
“What is it?” Nico asked, worried.
“They have a BUILD-A-BEAR,” Hazel shrieked.
“A build-a-bear?” Reyna asked.
“It’s a store where you make stuffed animals and can buy them clothes and shit. It’s really rad,” Piper explained.
“Oh,” Reyna replied eloquently.
“We have to go inside,” Nico said.
“Oh, does the big, bad emo kid have a heart under all that leather?” Piper teased.
Instead of replying Nico flipped her off and walked into the build-a-bear flipping the lights on.
“What are y’all gonna make?” Piper asked as she walked in, scanning the bins of stuffed animals
“Ima get a frog,” Nico said decisively as he picked up a frog and walked over to the stuffing machine.
“Ooh nice,” Hazel said, “but I’m going to get a unicorn.” She followed Nico to the stuffing machine as he plugged it in and started it up.
“Ok put your foot on the pedal,” Nico instructed. Hazel put her foot on the pedal and a stream of stuffing flew out hitting Reyna in the face.
“Oh my gods I’m so sorry,” Hazel said in between giggles.
Piper and Nio were trying and failing to stifle their laughter.
To everyone’s surprise, Reyna broke down in a fit of laughter.
“Oh my god,” Reyna wheezed out.
“You good Rey-Rey?” Piper asked.
“Yeah,” Reyna said, wiping her eyes and taking a few deep breaths to compose herself.
After they had all gotten their bears they finally made it to Sears.
The group walked upstairs to the bedding section and quickly made a blanket fort out on one of the biggest beds there.
Once they were all inside of the fort Reyna pulled out her laptop and cued up a Star Wars marathon.
Hazel made it through the first two before falling asleep, Piper made it to A New Hope, and Reyna and Nico made it all the way through the end before passing out.
