Work Text:
Unhurried, Seo In Guk leisurely walked to the nearest café from his house. The weather feels kind of nice in the afternoon. The sun is still up but it's not scorching. And the best part is, the atmosphere isn't dull.
He took his time to appreciate what he's seeing on the streets. He's been taking strolls around the neighborhood since the season started. And although Christmas has passed, it's still winter, and the vibe is still festive.
More often than not, he remembers Park Bo Young during this time of the year. Especially that night the two of them went to a café with their managers after shooting. Just recalling that specific memory puts a smile on his face.
He stopped on his tracks, as he felt something cold on his cheek. He looked up and more landed on his face. It just started snowing. He immediately put his hands in his pockets. He easily gets cold.
It isn't the first snow but it's the first time he's seeing it this year. Without realizing, his smile slowly faded. He was with her when the first snow happened a couple of years ago. How he wished he can call her right this moment and reminisce with her. He would be so happy if it were only possible.
A year has already passed since the day he followed her after seeing her on the other side of the street. Yet he still couldn't move on from seeing her break down that Christmas. He was filled with regrets that night.
He's been walking alone on streets filled with lights every evening. The people he's crossed paths with all looked so happy. He thought she'd always be around but he foolishly let her go.
If only he could turn back time. Maybe if he called her first before Cha Tae Hyun did, things would've been different now. It's a stupid thought. But still, what if?
After some time has passed, he realized how precious she was. And if it's ever possible, he'll tell her it's different now. But last Christmas, he only kept seeing her get farther away from him.
Taking one hand from his pocket and stretching his arm forward with his palm up, he watched as snow fell on his hand. If he stayed out like this the whole day, will the bruises of his broken heart be filled with white? He certainly hoped so as he got his phone from his pocket with his other hand.
I'll be there in a bit.
Placing his phone back in his pocket, he made a left turn to the café. Kwon Soo Hyun sent him a message saying he's near the area and told him they should meet. And between feeling lonely in his house and some hot coffee with a friend, he'd choose the latter all the time.
Yes, he's lonely. And now that he's acknowledging it, she crosses his mind again. Pushing the glass door open, he scanned the place and immediately spotted his best friend.
Kwon Soo Hyun looked over his shoulder at the sound of the chimes. He's been doing so once in a while. It's as if he's formed a habit.
Waving his hand in the air, Seo In Guk continued to think of her. If he met her, would it bring him to tears? He shook the thought off and returned the smile Soo Hyun sent him as he crossed the room. He probably wouldn't be able to say a thing anyway.
It didn't take long to test his theory however. Park Bo Young actually shared the table with his best friend. And he was right. He won't be able to say anything if he met her. But he also learned one thing. She would.
"Merry Christmas. How have you been?"
