Chapter Text
A figure was running through a dark forest. Inn their hand was a small bundle they were clutching close to their chest.
“Don’t worry leafling, we will reach our home soon,” was whispered in a mezzo-soprano voice and came amongst pants for breath revealing the figure as a female.
-------
The war was finally won. Cheers were heard throughout the once battlefield.
They did it... THEY DID IT!
An exhilarated laugh escaped her lips, tone almost disbelieving and yet the prove was laying in front of her, the pale snake-like figure on the ground and his chest wasn’t moving.
“You did it!”, was echoed next to her ear before someone almost tackled her to the ground, matching her laugh.
“We.” She corrected softly into bushy brown hair, “WE did it.” She smiled wide.
“We.” The hugger repeated her and stepped back after one last squeeze.
----------
Something moved high in the trees above the runner, rustling the leaves slightly.
The person ran faster, trying to reach her unknown goal.
---------
Several months passed since the last battle. The aftermath was horrible. So many “upstanding” citizens were discovered as part of the terrorist group that just the time last year was operating as the rightful government. Ss many were given trials and depending on the level of their involvement were given punishments. Some- most- though spilled as much as they knew and so were given a light slap on their wrist and sent on their merry way. While there was some outrage – not nearly enough, never – they were being told that they should focus on rebuilding their society instead. (“Grudges don’t make good foundations, concessions do”; “Everyone makes mistakes dearie, here have more tea”)
The laws that were passed during that awful period were repelled, and yet those prejudiced laws that did not have a “recognized” death eater name on them remained firmly in place. (“One step at a time now, don’t be discouraged”).
---------
Some skittering sounds arrived from one direction, followed by more from another side and soon almost surrounding her. She pumped her legs harder, faster, begging in her mind, please, please please...!
----------
And revelations came along too. Finding her mother’s diary- which was hidden in the headmaster’s office. (“I apologize my girl, it was for the greater good.”/”Take that greater good and shove it up your--”/”Now, now. I understand your anger--”/”You understand nothing! What else did you hide from me?!”/ saddened blue eyes gazed at her)
Finding out she is not who she thought she was. Learning more about her past, and her mother’s.
---------
As if her prayers were heard a thung sliced through the air, the sound originating from an arrow which impaled the huge critters, followed by more and more.
Soon all the enemies that stalked her were felled and she allowed herself to slow a bit to see who her unknown rescuers were for she knew there were more than one by the different directions the arrows came from.
“Halt and speak your purpose.” A new voice, this time alto came from another feminine figure.
---------
Reading the truth between those pages was as torturous as it was relieving. Finally discovering more about her mother, who she was, what she was thinking, what she did.
And remembering that conversation in the forest. (“What? So she---”/”Yes. And I'm going there so that I can-”/”I get it. Do what you must. We'll support you.”/”Thanks,” she smiled tearily.)
----------
She stopped and turned toward the speaker. “I come to see the elven-king.” She said clearly.
“Why?”, Another person- a male- asked suspiciously.
“That is between him and I.” She insisted.
The other two exchanged a look before the male acquiesced.
“Very well. Just know that one wrong move...” He trailed off warningly.
She nodded and followed them.
-------------
It took a while to find it and even longer still until she could talk with the one she came for.
A very long explanation came and went as well as it could have.
“So you-”
“Yes.”
“And I'm---” She nearly choked on that question.
A mere nod was her answer.
“How do I get there?” She demanded.
“We. Don’t think I will let you go there without me, after all it is my home too. As for how, the same way I got there the first time I suppose.”
A determined glint lit in both pairs of eyes.
“But first-”
--------------
It took 6 more hours to get to the palace. The sun nearly crossed the horizon and hanging lanterns were lit in response within the halls.
The mysterious female was led toward the throne room, one of her escorts having been sent ahead to warn the elven-king of the unexpected arrival.
They came to a stop before the doors. The male leader entered and returned after a few minutes.
“The elven-king will hear you now,” he said.
The doors opened.
--------------------
Again, some time passed. Every time they thought they could go ahead and return to their home, something came up to their attention to keep them from their journey. At least it let them grow closer, learning about each other more.
Eventually it was time to go.
“Remember, I do not know how it will affect you, though if it is anything like what happened to me...”
“Yeah,” She grimaced, “I hope not.”
“I actually hope it will” was replied cheekily, though a truthfulness rang though it too.
-------------
She strode into the throne room.
“You ask for an audience with me. Speak, what is it you want?” The elven-king Thranduil asked.
“I come in search of my home.” She replied simply.
“Oh?” Thranduil raised an eyebrow.
“Indeed.” She said, smiling, “Is there a place for me here?”
“First tell me your name, and your reasons.” The ruler told her diplomatically confusion hidden in his voice.
“Do you not recognize me? You know me quite well I dare say.” Answered she, amused, before lowering her hood.
Thranduil gasped loudly, echoed by the crowd standing in the hall.
A younger blonde elf almost identical to the king quietly asked, though it sounded in the room clearly.
“Mother?”

Chapter Text
“My son, my little leaf” She replied tearily.
Legolas, for that was his name run toward her.
“Careful,” She stopped him, before revealing her precious bundle, “Don’t want me to drop your little sister now do you?” Her smile was wide and bright.
“Sister?” He asked in wonder. A sentiment that was echoed by his father.
“Yes, when I was captured by the orcs, I was pregnant.” She said, causing more than one person to feel horrified.
“I remember” her husband said softly.
“Instead of dying there, I was transported back to the other world. Some good friends of mine form before helped me get settled and even named my child their heir in case they wouldn’t have their own. I gave birth to our daughter whom I named Halloth, my little Arassel. We were then attacked several months later-” another horrified gasp was heard and ignored,”-and I went into a coma. She was then - against my wishes - sent to my foster sister -you remember Petunia, right?- and she was treated dreadfully by her. When the war finally ceased in that world, I was woken up and reunited with Halloth. We then proceeded to get here as fast as we could. I will tell you all the details later in private.” She concluded, summarizing and omitting many things.
“Are you both okay?” He asked immediately, worried. “Do you need a healer? What am I saying? I will call a healer anyway so he can check you over.” Her spouse sprung up from his throne and went to their side quickly, all the while yelling for the healer and ushering his wife to their chambers so they could rest. Their son trailed after them, still in shock.
The last he’d seen of his mother was when he was very young. He lived longer without her than he did with her, and truth be told, he could not remember much of her. Seeing her here again, in the flesh, in Arda and not Valinor and learning that not only she hadn’t died, but that she gave birth to his little sister too? He was in shock to say the least, and yet determined to get to know both. The only question remaining was- how is it possible she had been gone for centuries here and yet it looked like she had been gone for only a quarter of a century at the most?
As though sensing his troubled thoughts his mother turned and smiled at him sadly. “I am certain you have many questions, my little leaf.” He stifled a sob; it has been so long since anyone called him that. "It seems I missed so much of your childhood. Alas, time moves differently between worlds, and I could not have come sooner because of my unwanted sleep.” She sighed. “It seems we have a lot to catch each other up on.”
-----------
She was always different. Any time she was supposed to die, she was transported someplace else.
The first time it happened when she was six years old. She was walking through the forest near her home when she was attacked. She tried to step away, escape somehow, and then... then she was somewhere entirely different. She was called by a strange name, and a couple that found her were sure she was their child.
Looking into the mirror in the bathroom, she saw herself and yet not. Her ears looked and felt weird, her skin too.
And it continued happening, back and forth she traveled from one place to another.
When she was eighteen, she was almost killed by enemies. One blink she was fighting those bigots, a curse came sailing at her and then, she returned to where she came from all those years ago and yet, it looked like time moved more quickly, her relatives were so relieved to see her again and yet it looked as if her disappearance was explained away as her being with other relatives for all that time.
Several seasons- years? - later while travelling she was ambushed. Her guards killed, her assailants turned to her and then- snow? Everything was snowing around her. It was summer when she was transported to that other world, and yet it looked like winter came while she was away.
Panic hit her, her husband, her child! She felt her stomach and sighed in relief, she was still few months pregnant, nothing happened to the fetus. She looked around her and found herself outside a friend’s house. She knocked on the door and the door was opened. She burst into tears.
----------
“- I suspect the Valar had a hand in my survival all those occasions. It seems as if my time hasn’t come yet.” she concluded.
“I am glad.” Thranduil said, embracing her again. “When no body was found I was hopeful it meant you escaped, and you would return here.”
She nodded, “As soon as I could, I did. When Halloth and I were attacked by that evil wizard, he hit me with a curse that, if I weren’t an elleth, would have died killed me. Though it did make me fall into a deep sleep and I was awoken by our daughter. Since time moved differently, she looked older than she really is and so, mentally she aged as she had to in that world.”
“Nana, I'm hungry,” a small voice came.
The adults blinked, surprised. Thranduil smiled and handed the small elfling back to his wife. “of course, I will request a meal to be brought to us.” he went to the hall in order to speak with a servant.
--------------
Her friend was very kind, she only told the truth to 3 people in total. Her husband and two of her friends in the other world. The only reason why she had was because when she arrived at her friend’s house, Alice had a plan. She quickly fire-called James and together the 3 of them hatched a plan. James would pretend they were dating, and he got her pregnant. They would “secretly marry” and only tell their friends after the fact and allow those friends to celebrate with them in another party that would look like a wedding so everyone would be convinced they got married properly.
The plan went off without a hitch.
When people “found out” they were married in secret they demanded an unofficial ceremony so everyone could celebrate their union and their child’s conception.
She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl she named Halloth.
“What’s that?” James asked.
“Hidden flower.” she replied.
“I will call her Hally than.” He said mischievously.
Hally soon turned into Harry and afterwards everyone assumed she named her daughter Harriet or something similar and her nickname was Harry.
----------
“Why did you fall into a coma?” Her husband asked her, eyeing her worriedly.
“The killing curse does not work the same way on elves as it does humans,” She began explaining, “The killing curse works by severing the thin connection between the soul- Fëa, and the body-Hröa. However, elves have a much stronger connection between the two. As such, it is like taking a blunt knife to a thick duvet- it might fray some threads, but overall, it won’t have much impact. Although, considering the very nature of the dark magic involved it does have an adverse reaction and so long as the dark magic lingers, it interrupts said connection. Not enough to kill the victim, rather it sends them into a healing sleep where the body attempts to fight the foreign destructive magic. When Halloth gave me the phoenix tears they siphoned off the volatile magic and in doing so I finally awoke from my healing sleep. Of course, any potion or magic that would have done the same could have worked but considering the circumstances it was understandable why our daughter wanted to be certain it worked.” She concluded, smiling lovingly at the tiny redhead in Thranduil’s arms. Her daughter swallowed the bite she had in her mouth and smiled back at her before turning back to the food her father held for her.
“It seems that except for a minor fatigue, you are in good health, Your Highness.” The healer that examined her - Ulloth, who did indeed have a flower scent- stated softly.
“Thank you, Ulloth,” The queen said, before the healer exited the room in order to let the royal family resume their private reunion.
A red eyebrow then rose at her spouse, and she said, “I did tell you I was fine, did I not?”
“I wanted to be certain you truly were,” The blond monarch replied while continuing to feed their daughter.
Considering the fact that, until recently, Halloth was in the body of a teenage human, she could be forgiven for the lack of coordination she experienced and as such she did not protest the babying. (Though, even if she was not, she would not have refused this treatment for she cherished the opportunity to have a second chance at childhood.
Like her mother said, it truly was a god-Valar?-sent)
Halloth turned her head from the next bite offered to her and yawned.
Thranduil kissed her forehead,” Sleep little one.” She blinked tiredly at him before snuggling and going to sleep on her father’s lap.
The blond king smiled wanderingly and marveled yet again at the gift given to him. Both his wife and child returned to him. He had thought he would only see his wife again in Valinor, where he would meet his youngest for the first time. And yet, there they were before him. And his youngest was just as beautiful as his wife, having inherited both her red hair and green eyes, though some of her features were his. And he would be there for her remaining childhood. He truly was blessed.
And then a runner came into his seating room.
“My king!” he panted, “a dragon is attacking Erebor!”
Notes:
Muhahaha!!! i'm not sorry!
That's it for now!
Tell me if you want another chapter *hinthint*For those of you who are curious:
*Halloth means hidden flower
*Arassel means deer girl (pan fully intended since i could not stop myself and neither could Lily)
*Ulloth means flower scent. I figured a delicate elleth deserves a delicate name.
*I decided the name Thranduil gave to his wife was Caranordis which means red fire bride (you can see how unoriginal he is).
*The place Lily lands in any time she travels between worlds is the last place she was in before her previous trip. So the place she and Halloth landed in this time is Dul Guldur because thats where she was the last time she was in ME.
