Blood Bound

Summary:

unveiling the journey of a vampire who feels the pressure of being the future leader of their pact, and a human who is willing to serve the other species due to an unsaid promise.

Notes:

Hello! This is my first story to be published on AO3. I have been planning to post here for a while but it took me awhile to regain my writer self back lol.

Anyways, the POV is going to be a bit experimental as this story is going to switch between 1st and 3rd POV, 1st POV will only focus on Mark’s. This style is quite new to me but I wanted to challenge myself a little just to see if it's okay to write this way. I hope it won't be that confusing to read. Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: bite me when the sun goes down

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

I thought I was dead.

When I heard the screeching of tires coming from my car and the loud crash against that huge tree, I could’ve sworn I was dead already.

I couldn’t remember anything that happened before the accident. But I still feel the strong sensation deep inside me. The compelling urge of hunger. An incessant thirst for blood. It’s been days since I was able to get my fill, but I never got to get my ration in time.

Right now, I still can't see anything. Just surrounded by blackness. Still trapped in the cage of my consciousness. I’m not sure how long I’m going to stay passed out but at the same time, it wouldn’t hurt to stay in my head for a while.

I noticed how much I was thinking these days. About the upcoming Coronation, about my ‘human aid’, about him... It has been quite a long time since we ever met each other again. Has it been 10 years already? I only yearn to see his pretty face again. It’s sad that I’m going to stay in this form while I watch him grow up from afar.

-

Jackson rushed to look for Jinyoung in his office, perfectly timed as the latter just stood from his office chair to grab his coat.

“Doctor, the patient passed out approximately thirty minutes before he arrived here. The blood test finished a few minutes ago.” The doctor nodded, before receiving the chart given by the nurse. He flipped through the pages before sighting what he’s been searching for. His eyes widened. He was surprised not only by the blood type, but also by the one who owns it. He grabbed his glasses on his table before checking the blood test results again. Jackson was curious with the reaction of his superior.

Jinyoung glanced at his watch. 2:14 AM. He can’t help but click his tongue. The doctor returned the chart to the nurse before asking, “Jackson, do we still have RH null at the back? We seem to have a special case here.”

Jackson frowned, reluctantly shaking his head. “The donations have been quite slow Doc. Our last batch of RH null was 2 months ago.”

The doctor sighed, trying to concentrate on what other ways they would be able to give blood to their patient. And then something clicked.

He immediately wore his coat and grabbed the necessary items he needed before heading out. The nurse tried to catch up to him. “Jinyoung, what are you planning?”

“Prepare to call the lab in order to cross-match me. I think I may be able to make this work.”

*

I was able to wake up after catching a familiar sweet smell not so far from me. White light peered from the ceiling, and I noticed a young man standing near the edge of the bed.

“Oh thank goodness you’re finally awake.” He slowly approached the small bedside table on my right, settling down a glass pitcher with what seems to be blood. He slowly poured in a tall glass and gave it to me.

I got up too fast seeing how my stomach growled from the sight of 'food' and pain shot up my head. I hissed from the sudden pain.

“Please be careful, Sir Tuan.” The nurse guided my back before sitting properly. He went to the controller by the headboard to raise the upper bed a little higher so I wouldn’t have to strain myself.

He gave me a glass before giving me a curt nod. I nodded back before holding the receptacle between my hands.

I shouldn’t have felt pain because of how fast I usually heal. But I guess since I haven’t eaten in days, it made sense why I couldn’t function properly. Looking down at my hands, the blood in the clear glass was a striking bright red, compared to the lackluster maroon shade, sipped from blood bags.

“The blood is still warm.” Those words came out before I even noticed.

The person watching him chuckled lightly before nodding. “Yes Sir, that batch is quite fresh actually.”

I just stared at him before reverting my eyes back to the glass. Hmm, I've never had a fresh batch before. The warmth against the cold glass onto my cold hands makes my heart flutter for reasons I can’t explain.
-

“The doctor will be here in a moment Sir, please drink your fill and get some rest afterwards.” Jackson quietly walked out of the room, leaving Mark alone with his ration.

He took his time in sipping the liquid, letting it warm up his whole body. His eyes widened from how it tasted. He can't help but lick his lips before taking huge gulps of the stuff. A knock echoed through the room, and Mark forced himself to slow down his drinking before he got himself in trouble. When the door opened, the vampire let in a sharp breath when he saw who entered.

"I see you're enjoying your meal? I hope I taste good to your liking."

Jinyoung got through his rotation first before finally visiting his last patient. When he saw him gripping the glass by the hand, his eyes glowing scarlet like the hue of his meal, the doctor couldn't help but smile at the sight.

Mark feels the heat creeping up to his cheeks, not sure if embarrassed that he got caught enjoying the consumption of blood in front of a human; or the fact that the person in front of him was none other than the fated boy he met at the blood bank 10 years ago. He remembers him so well, he's curious if the other party does too.

Jinyoung walks toward the available chair next to the bedside, and settles his chart on the table space before leaning into the conversation back to his patient.

"I am quite honored to meet one of the future leaders of the city, but it was unexpected for me to see you lying in a hospital bed."

Mark frowned at the doctor's statement. ‘He doesn't remember me from before?’ He thought to himself. Mark doesn't show the disappointment on his face. Still, he can't help but feel queasy at the thought. Still, he pushed the feeling down as he proceeded to return the glass to the bedside and tried his best to make eye contact and nodded.

"I'm sorry you had to see me like this. I guess the overdue thirst got me in a drunk-like state. Please don't tell my family about it, Dad would be so furious if he knew his 'future heir' went crazy at the side of the road."

"But what about your car?"

"I contacted my confidant already after I woke up. He already took care of it. Just don't tell, please?"

The vampire earned a chuckle from the guy, which led him to pouting his lips, thinking he was making fun of. Somehow, Jinyoung was fascinated by how cute this vampire was acting in front of him. A grin formed on his lips.

"No worries, your secret is safe with me."

*

Did he just wink?

I could've sworn he winked at me.

And the weird thing is, that's not the weirdest part.

Jinyoung stayed for a while, just trying to keep a conversation with me while I drank HIS blood.

I can't believe this. I'm actually drinking his blood..

His was honestly much sweeter than from my own donor. Probably because Jinyoung is younger?

"Mark."

I hummed in question, looking at Jinyoung, who seems to be already sitting on my bedside. That was the first time he called me by my name. Other than my closest friends and my family, nobody ever dares to call me by my first name. Yet hearing the doctor say it so casually, I don't mind it at all.

"I'm curious, how come your family hasn't provided you with your blood supply that you had to come here to the hospital and crash your car in the process, hmm?"

He paused before shaking his head, his vision now averted across the room. "You don't have to answer if you don't want to." It was my turn to give a chuckle. "Well, my donor wasn't in the neighborhood because he had to go take care of his mother. Apparently she got ill." He nodded in response, letting me know that he's listening to my words.

Silence then filled the room, but it felt comfortable rather than the sickly awkwardness I get from everyone else who knew about me.

"Would you mind guessing how many days I've gone without food?" I asked him out of nowhere.

I stared at him intently, not really expecting an answer but the way the doctor looked seemed like he’s trying his best. “Based on the state of your condition, I can say around 2 weeks or so.” Jinyoung answered and posed with a smile. I wanted to ask him another question when I noticed his eyes were widening. Later I realized that my senses were kicking in again.

-

His primal instincts are kicking. Jinyoung thought as he became aware of Mark’s fangs starting to peek through while they were having their little discourse. Although Mark’s eyes have not come back to normal from its frenzied state, it was the first time that the fangs came through after having his fill. He checked the pitcher by the bedside and it seemed like one pint of blood wouldn’t suffice after 2 weeks of starvation.

A moment later, the doctor had an idea.

“Have you ever tried drinking from the source, Sir Tuan?” The doctor asked. Jinyoung thought this could be the only solution so the vampire won't turn bloodthirsty when he gets released from the facility.
It was Mark’s turn to widen his eyes from whatever statement that the doctor was trying to propose to the vampire.

Jinyoung stood up from his seat to slowly peel off his white coat and gently place it on the chair. Mark only watched, his desires being heightened by the sight of Jinyoung’s simple white top and his dark slacks fitting him in the right places.

The doctor popped two buttons from his white button down, just enough to expose his neck. The vampire unconsciously gripped on the white sheets of the hospital bed, stopping himself from jumping onto the human in front of him.

“Are you nervous?” Jinyoung asked, slowly climbing back on the bed, and even dared to sit on Mark’s lap, straddling in place as he presented his neck to the older’s face. Jinyoung closed his eyes, the hot breath of the vampire fanning the right side of his neck, warming his skin.

When Jinyoung sensed Mark’s reluctance, he urged him once more.

“Go on, I know you’re hungry.” he whispered.

“But I don’t want to hurt you.” Mark felt like he was running out of breath. The temptation to bite Jinyoung was getting stronger but he still had an ounce of his will left to stop himself. He didn’t want to be selfish. “You already gave me enough already, I shouldn’t take any more.”

Jinyoung opened his eyes, welcoming Mark's beautiful face, his glistening crimson orbs somehow filled with worry. It's odd to see a vampire, and a superior to him at that, is worried about a regular person like him.

"I promise you won't kill me, if that's what you're worried about."

Mark shook his head a little. He opened his mouth to protest again but Jinyoung slowly lifted his hands to hold the vampire's cheeks, and led him to the exposed flesh of his neck. He leaned closer to his ear before whispering again,

"If you think you can't control yourself, I'll make sure to stop you, okay?"

Mark wasn’t sure if he could trust himself but hearing the person’s words somehow gave assurance. He took a deep breath as he observed the porcelain skin that’s near his mouth. He hadn’t done this before but he’ll just follow his gut and go for it. He had Jinyoung’s permission after all.

*
I gave a peck on his neck, trying to test the waters. He only hummed in response before I started to nibble on his skin. I can feel how Jinyoung is trying to stop himself from moving so much, attempting to get a comfortable position on his lap. If he won’t stop moving, he might notice my growing erection and I don't want to embarass myself any further. I held onto his hips to fix him into place before creating a small bruise on the same spot on his neck.

Jinyoung let out a small whimper, just barely noticeable. With my good sense of hearing however, it was clear as day.

“Are you sure you’re okay with this?” I asked again just to make sure.

“Fuck, just bite me already.” Jinyoung retorted. Both of us were already so out of breath, I haven’t even done the deed yet.

I looked at the small red bruise before unveiling my fangs. ‘Here goes nothing.’ I thought before finally piercing at the surface. Blood immediately came into contact on my tongue, my body instantly warmed at the taste. It felt like time had stopped when I began to drink Jinyoung’s elixir, sucking and holding for dear life as if it was my last. And it probably should because I don’t know what I’d do if I become dependent on him.

At first I thought drinking from a fresh batch coming from a glass was better than the blood bags. But drinking from an actual source? It's a whole new experience for me.

Minutes felt like hours before I felt the strong grip of Jinyoung on my shoulders, squeezing them tightly before he said “Mark, stop.”

My body suddenly froze.

It felt like there was this tingling sensation all over me when he said it. I cannot describe how it was but it felt like I was under his command. Jinyoung’s tense body finally relaxed when he noticed I stopped sucking off of him. He tapped my cheek, giving me a sign that I should let go, to which I did. But not before licking off the excess liquid in order to seal the wound. When I was able to look at him again, his face was flushed but had an afterglow on him as if he just had sex or something. I blushed at the thought.

“Umm, I know I shouldn’t make a big deal out of this but your dick is poking my ass right now.”

Horrified by the statement, I accidentally pushed him off my lap, with Jinyoung stifling a laugh but failed miserably. The obvious tent in my pants has not settled down, and I grabbed my pillow to cover my lower half. Jinyoung positioned himself at the foot of the bed, crossing his legs so both of them could still fit on the hospital bed.

“Being turned on after a vampire’s feeding is normal. So you don’t have to be embarrassed about it.” I avoided eye contact for now, still feeling sheepish about the situation.

When silence filled the room again, I looked up to see Jinyoung giving off a soft smile. I couldn’t help but return it back.

It was time for me to speak up. “Thank you for saving me.”

“No. Thank you.”

I titled my head from curiosity. “What for?”

Jinyoung didn’t reply. Instead, he checked his watch before getting off the single hospital bed and fixed his clothes, wearing the clean white coat on his body. He grabbed his stuff he left on the table before approaching the door. His back was facing me when he opened the door and paused. While I had the time to regain my strength because of Jinyoung helping to feed me, my mind became clear again when I realized that the bite mark on his neck was gone. Jinyoung turned around and smiled.

“Thank you for finding me.”
