Chapter Text
You look around your new apartment briefly before shutting your eyes; the past couple days had felt like a dream and the reality of your situation seems to have just now started to kick in. You never really took your parents "jokes" about getting kicked out after turning 20 seriously and based on the nearly empty apartment you were currently standing in the doorway of, you probably should have.
You suppose you should have been suspicious when after turning 18 and getting your first job they insisted you started putting money into a savings account, and you suppose you should consider yourself lucky that they offered to rent the U-Haul needed to bring your limited furnishings here. Speaking of here, you're about two towns away from where you grew up - mainly due to the fact that rent is significantly cheaper; most likely because it's a small family oriented town with not much going on. The other reason you're here is because you have no car, and the town is fairly walking and biking friendly.
You open your eyes back up and close the door behind yourself, you had just gotten back from a measly grocery trip when your brain decided it was finally time to acknowledge that "Oh my god, my life has changed more in the past 72 hours than it has in the past 20 years." and now it was time to push the realization to the back of your brain again while you put away your groceries. A box of black tea went in the cupboard along with some peanut butter and white bread - milk, eggs, and raspberry jam went in the fridge. This was your life now; a diet consisting of PB&Js, eggs and black tea - just what you had been looking forward to after high school.
It was already pretty late by this time, the sun setting and casting an orange glow into the room through an open window. You have enough money saved to cover rent and utilities for two months while also keeping enough food in the house to not starve. With that in mind, you wanted to start hunting for a job as soon as possible. Fast food would most likely be the best option in finding an open position, even though you weren't looking forward to constantly smelling like the food you sell, you were pretty sure that's where you'd be ending up.
You walk to the bathroom located down the hall from your living room to get ready for bed, you weren't feeling too hungry with the existential dread breathing down your neck, so you'd be settling with having a shower and brushing your teeth for dinner. You dressed in some loose clothes that were currently being kept in a luggage bag - you'd really have to buy a dresser and some hangers soon, but that was a problem for another day. This day was over and the next day had already been decided to be one of job hunting, furnishing your new home could wait until you had stable income.
You dragged your tired body into your twin bed that you'd had since middle school and pull the covers over yourself. Tomorrow would be better, tomorrow you'd venture into town and find a place to work, it would be a distraction from the thoughts racing through your head. You just have to fall asleep first, it should be the easiest part of your day, and yet it had been feeling like it was the hardest lately.
You awoke to sun beams shining into your eyes, groggily you shifted the covers over your eyes. Your sleep hadn't been the best last night, nor had it been the night previous, thinking about it the night before the previous night had been pretty crappy too. You sat up and made your way to your bag to pull out the cheap wrist watch you had, it was 12:34 in the afternoon and probably as good a time as any to start getting ready.
After cleaning yourself up and making yourself a sandwich you decide it's time to get out and start looking for that job you needed; heading out your front door and locking it behind yourself, you walk down the stairs to the parking lot. You make your way to where you left your bike yesterday and get set up in the direction of where there were more commercial buildings in town. After biking for a good half an hour you happen to spot a building with a "Help Wanted!" sign in the window, that sure beat going into McDonald's and asking if they had any open positions, you slow down and make your way near the building to get a better look at the place.
From the looks of it - it was a pizza place of some kind. Tilting your head to look up at the name it seemed pizza place was the correct answer; but this wasn't just any pizza place, according to the sign this was Freddy Fazbear's Pizza (place) how nice. You got off your bike and began to walk yourself and your bike to the entrance of the building. There was a bike rack relatively close to the entrance so you parked your bike there while you headed in, upon walking in you were blasted with the scent of cheap pizza and the ear piercing shrieks of many small children. Half tempted to walk out then and there you steel yourself against the attack on your senses and make your way up to the first employee you see, it happens to be the one checking people in.
Making it to the counter quickly enough you tell the tired looking employee you were here because you were interested in being the help the poster outside said was wanted. Peering briefly at his name tag your eyes shoot up when David begins to speak "Ah - You're the first person to come in for that since it was put up," my eyebrows rose up "so first person in about a week." and quickly fell down as he finished his sentence. "Henry should be in his office back down by the employee's lounge if you want to ask about the position, just knock on his door and he'll let you in." David finished off, you smiled and thanked him for his help before walking further into the building.
You spot a hallway labeled on top with "Employee's only" and figure that's probably the correct area; walking into the hallway you're able to see in the back what looks to be an employee lounge and a bit before that two doors against sides of the walls. Walking up to the first door you see engraved on a golden plate "H. Emily" you hoped the H stood for Henry - you lightly knock twice and only had to wait briefly before being told to come in. Opening the door you immediately spot a man sitting in his chair with one of the bushiest mustaches you've ever seen, he smiles upon seeing you with what most would consider a dad like enthusiasm - and you had a feeling he was a dad, nobody grows a mustache like that unless they've already settled down and are out of the game.
"Hello, do come in and have a seat." Henry? said while gesturing to the chair in front of his desk; you walked over and took a seat before he started talking again "I'm hoping I'm guessing correctly when I ask if you're here about the help wanted sign out front?" you nod your head "That's fantastic, in that case we should get properly introduced, my name is Henry Emily." Henry flashed another smile and held out his hand. You meet his hand with your own and give him a firm shake while telling him your first and last name.
Henry lets go of your hand and sits back in his chair clasping his hands together before speaking again "Well Y/N I'll let you know a bit about the position and you can decide if you'd be interested in joining us," you nodded your head as he spoke "we're looking for someone to fill in the gaps, basically you'll help around the place where needed. Most likely helping to set up before parties, cleaning up, and being available to give me or William a hand while we're working on the animatronics." Henry finished off "Animatronics?" you asked "Animatronics as in the mascots on stage, my business partner William and I created them - so whenever there's an issue he or I are the ones to go and fix it; it does help to have someone to fetch tools or hold casings though. That's where you would come in." Henry explained "It would probably be convenient to show you how to perform general maintenance on the stage too..." those aspects of the job were beginning to make you a bit nervous, you didn't exactly have a history doing any of that kind of work and you worried coming in may have been a waste of time due to your under qualifications.
You decided now would probably be a good time to speak up "I should probably mention I don't really have any history with anything like that, I've only had one job previously and it was in fast food." Henry looked at you and thought for a moment "As long as you're comfortable with learning how to do those aspects of your job we'd be happy to show you how to do it." he flashed a smile briefly "The truth is Y/N we haven't had anyone else apply so I'm willing to hire you on the spot right now." while being hired on the spot was most definitely not a good sign, you needed the money and would prefer to not have to go back to biking around looking for places currently hiring; "I think I'd be very interested in this position then Henry." You told him with a smile.
After discussing wages and availability you agreed to a deal of slightly above minimum wage with Mondays and Tuesdays off - you also agreed to come in tomorrow for your first shift. Henry lead you to the employee lounge after the hiring process was complete and pulled out some uniforms for you; taking the small stack from his hands you could see it was mainly purple and black long sleeve button ups with one or two red ones. "We would prefer you wear black slacks or jeans with the shirt, as well as clean black shoes." Henry explained; you assumed as the owner of the place he didn't have to follow that rule as the man was currently wearing a striped sweater with blue jeans. "Oh, and I'll have your name tag ready for you tomorrow. Come in around 8 in the morning so we'll have a bit of time to go over things before we open."
You finished up with Henry and made your way out of the building and back to your bike. Depositing the stack of shirts in the basket on the back, you head back home for the day. Making your way into your doorway you set the shirts down on your kitchen countertop and checked the time 3:24 - You still had a good portion of the day to do whatever you wanted. You settle on reading from a book and doodling a bit in a sketchbook you had brought with you. Later you make yourself a sandwich for dinner and go to clean up, you're ready for bed at around 11.
Before going to sleep you grab your alarm clock out of your luggage bag and set it to go off at 6 in the morning, giving you plenty of time to get to Freddy's tomorrow. You climb into your bed and pull the covers over yourself, feeling ready to fall into a deep sleep for the first time in quite a few days. In the brief period between being awaken and sleeping you started to wonder what tomorrow would be like, what kind of coworkers you would meet and if you would enjoy the work - you fell asleep excited for what tomorrow would bring.
