Chapter 1: Unfinished WIP 1 (Had no working title)
Chapter Text
Beep! Beep! Beep! Jolting awake I check my phone to turn off the alarm. Time to get ready for work. I get out of bed and look at myself. The first thing is to shower for work because my fur is all kinds of matted. I walk into the bathroom and start the water so it can heat up as I gather what I need for the day.
I go into my closet and grab my usual shirt, pants and tie for work. I open a drawer on my dresser and grab a clean pair of boxer briefs. I lay everything out on my bed before grabbing a towel and walking back into the bathroom. I take off my dirty boxer briefs and step into the shower.
I let the warm water wet all my fur before I grab the shampoo and start scrubbing it into my fur. I then rinse the shampoo before repeating the process with the conditioner. I clean any other part of my that needs cleaned before turning off the water and grabbing my towel. I towel dry my fur as best as I can before grabbing my blow dryer and hair gel.
I style my hair with the blow dryer before putting gel in it. Walking back into my bedroom I grab the clothes spread out on my bed before putting them on. After making sure my tie is on correctly I check the weather on my phone and then slip on my shoes before walking out the door. I walk to the train station before sitting once I get to my platform, I’m a bit early for my train so I’ll sit and wait.
I scroll through Instagram on my phone before I come across a picture Haida posted, It’s a picture someone took of him playing the bass. He looks really cute when he’s focused. He probably has a girlfriend, besides I doubt he’s interested in guys anyway. I scroll through Haida’s Instagram page and see a selfie he took at the gym.
Damn, he’s hot in that picture. I hear my train pulling up so I put my phone in my pocket before standing up to get on the train. Once the train gets to my stop I get off it before walking the rest of the way to work. On the way, I run into the man of my dreams himself. “Morning Haida,” I say as I catch up to him.
“Morning Ookami”
I put my earbuds in and pull up my playlist. I scroll through it trying to decide what to listen to before just hitting shuffle and just hoping for the best. Once arriving at the office I put my earbuds away as I walk into the office.
I sigh deeply before stepping into the elevator knowing I’m probably gonna get yelled at by Ton like always. I hear hurried footsteps behind me so I quickly turn around and see Haida running to try and catch the elevator. I stick my foot in front of the door to stop it from closing.
Once Haida is in the elevator I take my foot away from the door to let it close. “T-thanks Ookami, You’re a lifesaver”
I can hear that he’s out of breath. I reach into my bag and take out a bottle of water. “Need some water Haida?”
He nods before taking the bottle and damn near chugs it. “Careful so you don’t choke Haida”
I hear the elevator ding and the doors slide open. Time to be a normal businessman who in no way stands out. I take a deep breath as I step out of the elevator.

Chapter Text
It’s a moonless night and I’m sitting alone. Why am I alone? Oh, that’s right because I chased off the one guy I loved. Looking up at the starless sky I take a deep sigh before standing up to go inside. Why do I do these things to myself?
While walking inside the door shuts catching the tip of my tail in it. Great, just another shit thing to add to my shitty night. Once my tail is out of the door I sit on the couch and get flooded with all the memories from the nights he’d stay over. Tears roll down my cheek while remembering what happened between us. I lost my cool and yelled at him for something that didn’t even matter.
Did I seriously flush 2 years down the drain over a stupid argument? More tears roll down my cheeks while I attempt to check my phone. Out of habit, I pulled up my messages with Haida which causes me to almost text him. No, I shouldn’t, you said it yourself Ookami
“I never want to speak to you again!”
the painful image of Haida crying flashed through your mind. Why did I do that to him? What’s wrong with me? In an attempt to patch things up I tried to send him a message but it was never sent. I look over at the couch where we had our first kiss, that was so long ago but it feels like it was just yesterday I just wish I could have him back here. Be as if nothing ever happened and we could live out our days happily ever after.

Chapter Text
It was a cold winter morning when I sit up in bed after hearing the alarm on my phone go off. “Shit morning already?” with a heavy sigh while climbing out of bed my attention is drawn to the window of the bedroom. Guess it snowed, which is gonna make my commute annoying. Walking out into the living room of the tiny apartment I call home. I throw my shoes on while checking the weather. On my way to the train station, I head into the convenience store to grab a can of coffee and something to eat.
I head to the register and see the cashier is Manaka from the pop idol group OTM Girls. “Haida why do you always eat this crap? Don’t you have food in your apartment?”
I shrug and hand her the money. “This stuff is easier”
I turn towards the train station my purchase in hand. Sweet still got 10 minutes until the train. I eat the breakfast sandwich and drink down the can of coffee throwing away the empty can into the recycling bin. Once I get to work I’ll be able to see Ookami. A blush creeps onto my face while thinking about Ookami. Truth be told I’ve had a small crush on him for a while ever since that night at the company party…
A few months ago
I’m typing away at my desk when suddenly there is a tap on my shoulder. Out of the corner of my eye, I see orange fur which means it can only be one person. “Yes, Ookami?” I turn to face him while speaking. “Haida, I’m hosting the company party tonight! You in?” I shake my head “Dude I already told you I don’t wanna go to the lame-ass company parties”
“There will be free booze”
“I suppose if I’m not doing anything I can come”
“I will see you tonight then Haida”
The rest of the day is spent finishing up my work before I go with everyone to the local bar where the company party is being held.
I sit in the corner by myself when Fenneko approaches me.
“Hey Fenneko”
“Haida why the hell are you sulking in the corner alone?”
“I’m only here for the free booze, I didn’t really want to come in the first place”
“See this is why you’re single Haida”
“Did you come to judge my relationship skills or did you come to talk?”
“Ookami was looking for you”
“Me? Why”
“I don’t fucking know he’s over there” I turn my head in the direction she pointed and see Ookami talking to some of our coworkers at the bar.
With a groan, I stand up and walk over to where Ookami is standing.
“Fenneko said you were looking for me?”
“Yes I was”
“Why?”
“I wanted to talk with you dude, is a guy not allowed to wanna talk with his best friend?”
I shrug and sit down at the bar with him. We talk for a few hours and share a few drinks when I feel his arm around me and he tilts my head towards him and leans in…
Suddenly I’m snapped out of my thoughts as I hear the train stop. I look around and realize I’m already on the train which has just stopped at the station I need. When did I get on the train? How long as I zoned out for? Before I realize it I’m standing in front of the Mann trading Co. building. With a sigh, I walk into the building where I see Ookami having a conversation with Manamaru from the sales department. Based on what I can hear of their conversation they appear to be dating or at least hooking up. Oh well, none of my business. I walk past feeling a slight pain in my chest but ignore it opting to just go straight to my desk. Quicker I get started quicker I can go home. Once at my desk I get straight to work but get interrupted a few minutes after starting.
“Haida can I talk to you for a moment?”
There is no mistaking that voice.
“Sure Ookami, What’s up?”
“How much of my conversation with Manamaru did you hear?
“Not much I wasn’t really paying any attention to it. Why?”
“No reason… was just curious”
I shrug before going back to work trying to get as much done before lunch. I end up working through lunch just to finish sooner, I end up finishing shortly after everyone comes back from lunch. With a glance over at Ookami, I head towards the door shrugging my coat on preparing to head out into the cold. Just as my hand touches the door I hear a voice behind me and rapid footsteps.
“Haida wait!”
I turn in the direction of the voice to see Ookami who also has a coat on.
“I’ll walk with you to the train station”
“Oh…Alright, Didn’t realize you’d finished your work already too”
We talk as we walk to the station.
“About the conversation, I had with Manamaru”
“What about it? I just assumed you two are dating”
“See that’s the thing, we’re not but he seems to think we are.”
“Oh I see”
“Thing is I have feelings for someone that’s not him but he won’t take no for an answer”
I shrug “According to Fenneko my dating life is like a wet sock so I wouldn’t ask me for advice”
“I see, I just wanted to confide in you since I trust you”
I just nod in silence as we walk before feeling a piece of paper pushed into my hand. Looking down at it, there is a phone number written on it. “What’s this?”
“My number, so we can keep in touch outside of work”
Smiling a bit I take out my phone putting the number into it then give Ookami mine.
