Work Text:
Raising a kid was hard. That is the first thing anyone will tell you if asked, what parents can do is correct their kid's behavior and tell them when something is right or wrong. All they can do is teach them and hope they listen.
So, when 8-year-old Peter comes home after being suspended for punching another student, Tony of course calls him up for a video chat.
(He couldn’t just leave; he was still in an important meeting and Pepper wouldn’t be back until tomorrow.)
Happy was the one in charge of the kids until they got back, so he was the one to answer the call and give the Stark Pad to Peter.
Tony had of course gone on with the “punching is bad unless in defense” talk when Peter had interrupted. "If you even cared, you'd actually be here!" He shouted, freezing Tony midsentence.
Tony, frozen and too caught up in old memories, didn’t even notice when Peter had hung up, when his screen went black, or when room service knocked on his hotel room door.
(No one was going to tell if Tony gave an especially tight hug to Peter when he came home a week later.)
