Chapter Text
Warren looked down, wind roaring from all directions. Below him, students gather, Warren lets out a broken whimper that slowly turns into sobs. 'So this is what it took for them to finally see...' he thought.
Warren startles as the door to the dorm roof slams open to reveal a panting and worried Max Caulfield. "Warren-" she begins, taking a moment to swallow the lump forming in her throat; "Warren, what are you doing?" She asks carefully, hands held out in front of her, as if she were approaching a wounded animal. She is. the voice in his head murmers to him. Choking down a sob and words that started to form, Warren tightly closes his eyes.
"I can't do this anymore Max-" tears began to form as Warren stood, he could vaguely hear gasps from the crowd below as he spreads his arms wide and takes a deep breath, he turned to face Max, her pupils blown wide in fear, he continued.
"All anybody cares about is that stupid video!" His voice is completely broken now, tears falling freely, as he pushes his palm to his eyes to attempt at stopping them from falling.
"Warren, this isn't the answer-" "Of course it is Max!" Warren cuts her off, slumping slightly, his tone, and his being visibly defeated. "This is the only option... the only way to end the pain." With those words, Warren took a step back and went limp, letting gravity do the work. 'Funny...' Warren thought as he fell. 'I swear I just heard Victoria scream...' with that thought, everything went black as he made contact with the pavement below.
"Warren!" Max shouts in fear, watching with baited breath, as her friend takes the step off the ledge. She runs and looks over it, silently praying that something, anything broke his fall...
Her prayer fell on deaf ears.
Down below, all the students in the crowd had their phones out, no doubt recording everything that had happened.
Closest to Warren, however, was Nathan, holding a shaking Victoria, even from here, Max could tell Nathan was trying to calm her down, all while barely holding it together himself.
"I can fix this..." Max whispers to herself, with shaking hands, reaching for and removing a photo she had taken of her and Warren months prior, from her bag. A sudden wave of guilt hitting her as she realized she had failed to notice the changes sooner, the darkness hidden behind that smile.
Max takes a deep breath and does the one thing she hadn't for almost a year, not since she had to fail Chloe to save the town.
Max Caulfield takes a deep breath... and she rewinds time.
