Chapter Text
When Ezra told her about his force vision of time traveling, she didnt want to get her hopes up. But she had to admit, it was getting harder not to feel like the 15 year old youngling she was when she got assigned to Anakin, almost 6 years ago.
Ahsoka couldnt help but remember the day she met him on christophsis.
her life had changed completely. The day was burnt into her memory. it was the begining of the best time of her still very young life. This time, she was hoping that she could not only change her life, but also save so many more with the help of this kid she met on lothaal.
Ezra was sharing the feelings of anticipation and eagerness. He was thinking about the possibility of them changing the Galaxy, hopefully for the better. Altough he was a couple years younger than his female companion, Ezra could remember very well how peacefull it was before the war.
Heck, in comparison to nowadays, even the period of war between the Republic and the Separatists seemed more peacefull than this Hellhole. The clone wars definitively werent the best times to live in for a Jedi, but they certainly beat the present circumstances.
From what Ahsoka told him, being a Padawan five years ago was nothing like being a Padawan now. Back then you didnt have to go into hiding, obviously, but that wasnt the first thing that came into Ezras mind when comparing his experience with the Jedi with Ahsokas.
He could only talk from the outsider perspective and what he learned about the Jedi as a child. Everyone always talked about the Jedi not having Attachments and being unable to understand the ordinary people, but from what Ezra heard about the friendship Ahsoka and her Master shared, he could tell not all Jedi were emotionless monchs who followed every rule there was and only cared about politic dicisions in the time of war.
He blinked as the door slid open to reveal a unusually happy looking, young togruta, who was approaching the co-pilot seat. She was wearing a more revealing outfit, which he recognised as the clothes she wore in a holo vid of her and her master sparing.
Ezra remembered her showing him the vid after a sparring session he hopelessly lost, as an example that she wasnt always that good. He couldnt help but notice that she didnt only get more confident and skilled over time, but also more beautiful and curvy. Not that she wasnt that in the holo vid she showed him...WAIT! he had to stop thinking like that, Ahsoka is his FRIEND and maybe even master considering she is the one who taught him how to really use his force abilities and lightsaber.
Altough he would never describe what they had as a Padawan - Master relationship more of a... "HEY! Loathball, you there?" She just couldnt stop with that!
The nickname Ahsoka had given him because of the position she found him in, when he was sleeping on the ships ramp a year ago. She was still teasing Ezra about it with the nickname and showed no signs of stoping.
Ezra blinked for a second time and looked at her. " Oh... Eh- yeah sorry i spaced out for a moment there "
Ahsoka had a knowing smirk on her face, but thankfully let it slide. "Yeah i kinda noticed. We'll be there in 25 minutes tops, so better wake up loathball !" Her smirk transforming into one of those beautiful half smiles she puts on her face when joking around.
"You would think i'd get a brake after improving my form 5 that much, but noo... Youre at it again" Ezra said jokingly, knowing she wouldn't get offended by his comment. She chuckled at that and Ezra smiled himself, not holding it back anymore.
Man her laugh made everything that bit easier, he thought. His mind started drifitng again, but he didnt wanna go there. Still, his eyes took in her new appearance. It wasnt that he had the need to be more than friends with her, but there werent many very attractive girls around, that could fight and joke around like she always did.
"Whats up with the new outfit Ahsoka, you've never switched your style since i've known you" Ahsokas face expression got more serious as she thought about how to reply to that.
" I know what you mean, but i had to wear the old stuff since i couldnt afford to attract too much attention Ez"
" But what changed ? We still cant afford to get noticed, Ahsoka " he didnt mean to discourage her about wearing what Ezra suposed was her old Padawan outfit ,altough, now that he looked at it, it seemed like she changed it a bit.
The little bag strapped to her back was still there, but the skirt covering some of her curves was gone in favor of showing every part of the diamond cut out leggings she was wearing. The top was lower on one side, and it was still exposing most of her back. Her boots were also a bit different and had knifes fitted. Ezra had to admit, she did not lie when she told him about knowing how to redesign and create clothes on her own a while back.
"We're about to land beside a sith temple... i think we're going to get noticed anyway if someone's there. Besides, if everything goes like we planned it, we're soon gonna be in a time where attrackting attention isn't gonna cost you your life ... most of the time " ahsoka was seemingly pleased with her argumentation, sinking into the co-pilot seat and closing her eyes.
"Okay, i mean im not gonna tell you to wear something less revealing, am i?" Ezra smirked the whole way through the sentence. Ahsoka's eyes flew open, a bit wider than normal, in surprise that he'd be so bold with her, altough they both werrent shying away from their direct nature.
" Ezra! dont do that with me. You know how last time ended "
" There was no reason to turn light sparring into a real fight " Ezra claimed, playfully agitated.
" I guess every boy's the same " her voice came out distracted, as she pulled out the knife from her left boot, to sharpen it. Ezra's brows furrowed as he thought about how she wouldnt stop calling him boy when they were esentially the same age in his book.
"Hey, you're only 2- " " you mean 3" "-yes, 3 years older than me, so- " " so ?.. " " so, why call me boy all the time?, I wasnt even seriously hurt, i'd love to intensify our sparring sessions, Soka" he said and began chuckling a bit towards the end.
Ezra got what he wanted, because her lekku darkened a bit in embarasement, but she looked like she was about to end someones life at the same time. If that wasn't Ahsoka Tano, then he didnt know what was.
" im gonna show you why i call you boy" she ignited her white lightsabers mid sentece, which made him realise that he fucked up, just in time to activate his own green lightsaber and block her strike. She obviously wasnt trying to hurt him badly, but she was on the verge of doing so.
The young togruta was picking up pace and momentum by the second and Ezra wasnt sure how long he could keep his defense up. After blocking a blow from her primary saber, he did a back flip onto a crate in the room they were in. Thankfully they had moved out of the cockpit a while ago. When, he really didt know, because blocking Ahsokas strikes was a task of its own.
She twirled her sabers around her and flipped the secondary saber from her preffered reverse grip into the traditional grip, obviously showing off some skills. While Ahsoka was assesing Ezras progress, he was trying to figure out a plan out of this mess he got himself into. She had him cornered and he didnt have many options he could pull off left. She smirked, knowing the answer to her question but still asking " giving up already?"
" Just you wait " he answered, going into the from 5 stance. She threw one of her lightsabers at him, but it got blocked by him, as he was already expecting it. It was something she liked doing in previous sparring sessions.
Right after Ezra blocked it, she lunged at him, the blade clashing against his, as she landed and cought her other blade. Ezra blocked a series of combo's, but didnt expect the leg kick right after her blades brought his down and kept it there. He tried to move away but still got caught good, judging by the way the top of the crate felt as she knocked him down.
" Not bad " Ahsoka concluded, her blades forming an x around his neck. " Im not done yet " " Neither am i " she said and swung one blade at him. He couldn't do much besides freeze and stare, as the parts of the chest around him got sliced. A sigh of releaf escaped him, even though it was obvious she wouldnt do anything that would seriously hurt him.
Immidiantly after Ahsoka was done slicing, she jumped off the crate, and out of Ezra's field of view. Once he fell into the crate the sparring was officialy over. It wasnt that bad, atleast until he heard laughing from outside the crate.
He tried to get up but it was taking more time than anticipated, as there was some stuff in the crate with him. Ahsoka peeked through the hole in the top of the crate, still laughing like someone was tickling her.
Which gave Ezra an idea... She was about to say something, but he force jumped out of the crate knocking her down with him on top, tickling her. She was trying to stop him but the advantage of surprise was still there.
He knew Togruta were more sensitive in the lekku area so he tried tickling her there, but the moment she felt pressure on her lekku, she gasped loudly and force pushed him back into the crate breaking it completely.
Ezra was a bit dazzed after that, but recovered as she approached him. " You okay? "She asked cautiously.
" yeah, still in one peace " he joked but Ahsoka remained serious " i didnt mean to hurt you but- you know ... Just dont touch my lekku, Ez" She had a slight blush on her lekku, but Ezra knew he had made a mistake. He looked her in the eyes, his expression turning serious
" Ahsoka im sorry, my bad, I was just .. you know in the heat of the moment.. " he trailed off.
"OH FORCE NO!" ahsoka suddenly exlaimed, as if she remembered something. She force pulled Ezra out of the way to the crate and he landed off to the side on his butt.
Then it dawned on him ... something important must have been in that crate! He rushed to her side and looked down at what she was holding. It was a picture of her and two other people. A mandarin skin Togruta female and a dark skinned human male.
The picture looked like it was taken when she was very young. She must have been younger than 8 or 9. It was still in one peace and they both were thankful that it was. There were some other much bigger pictures in the crate with her and her master on them, or a man with a ginger beard and white Jedi clothes, who he recognized as Obi wan Kenobi. There were even some pictures with clone troopers in there.
Ahsoka took a look at the picture with her and her master. It was ripped in multiple pieces and he felt sadness eminiting from her into the force. She was unknowingly projecting it. Ezra just knew this guy must really be important to her, because she usually never let her guard down like that.
Of course, he was her master after all, but there had to be more to it than that, he thought. If Ezra thought he'd made a mistake earlier, then he really fucked up now. " Ahsoka.." he didnt even try to call her Soka, because she said she liked that nickname, but didnt want to hear it from him, whatever that meant.
" Im Truly sorry. It wasnt my intention to-" he was cut off by Ahsoka. " its okay Ez, because where we are going there is a lot more of him than a picture. So lets get ready, come on!" With that, she got up and left him alone in the room.
Fast forward a couple of minutes, and he felt the ship land on the ground of malachor 5. This sith portal temple better be worth our time.
"Lets get to business loathball" came from behind Ezra, as he was walking down the ramp. "Glad you arent mad at me, Ahsoka" he smiled sincerely at her.
She smirked back " just you wait until our next sparring session, Ez" speeding up after that. He didnt respond, not wanting to push his limits after what hapened in that fight earlier.
