You’re not what you seem

Summary:

Everything on the apple farm seemed alright, the sun was shining the farm was as if should be and yet, Andy the apple can’t help but feel like something isn’t right with himself. Like he doesn’t belong as though something is off and after playing a game of tag with a certain pumpkin that feeling only intensifies.

Notes:

This is my first Andy’s apple farm fic so I hope you all like it please do share a comment below I’d like to know what you all think of it as I am working on other Andy’s apple farm stories too.

Chapter 1: Strange dream

Chapter Text

He was having that same nightmare again, he was running through a large pumpkin patch. The sky dimmining into darkness right after the sunset faded back into the earth. The sky now was full of a dark blue mixing with indigo swirling with the pale colors of yellow and blue.

It was getting so dark.

The small apple remembered he was running away from someone..or something. As he turned around he could see the macabre creature. It was incredibly tall with elongated limbs. It’s ribs and bones poking out through black ash almost leathery skin. At least the apple assumed it was skin and on its head was one large pumpkin with a massive single eye staring dead at him as it chased him down the pumpkin patch.

The scariest thing about the creature was that it knew his name. Calling to him in this distorted garbled tone which sounded utterly demonic to the young apple farmer. He could feel the creature gaining on him making the small apple run even faster as he could practically feel it’s sharp fingertips brush against his shoulders trying to grab him with its long arms.

Andy panted running as fast as his legs could carry him. He breathed heavily as his lungs were practically burning from how much he was breathing and running. It was getting much darker now with the sky now a midnight violet to deep dark blue and the creature was gaining speed on him.

Andy ran as fast as he could through the pumpkin patch trying his best not to lose his footing and fall. By then the sky was darker now almost pitch black and the creature was getting closer to him. To make matters worse Andy could hear strange sounds and to his horror more of them appeared through the pumpkin patch there had to be four of them. All staring down the small apple with their single large eyes and they were hot on Andy’s trail.

He doesn’t know how long can keep running, but he didn’t want to get caught . Andy didn’t want to imagine what those things might do to him once they caught him.

It hurts. His chest is aching and his legs are sore, Andy can’t stop though he needs to find a safe spot first, a place of shelter. There had to be one somewhere around here, but all the small farmer could see was a vast field of pumpkins.

… … …

There would be no possible way for Andy to ever think of finding shelter, there was nothing. Not to mention how sore and tired his body was it would be a miracle before he found any place to rest.

Andy was screwed no matter what.

Andy gasped for breath trying to stop at a joggers pace only for him to lose his footing over one of the many pumpkin vines and fell onto the cold soil of the pumpkin patch. He groaned trying to sit up as he remembered those ungodly pumpkin creatures from hell were still chasing him and before the small apple could gather his bearings one of those monsters successfully got to him first.

Andy cried out in horror as the blackened claw tore through the fabric of his shirt eventually tearing through skin causing the poor apple to shriek in pain from the deep gash he now had.

There was blood, a lot of it pooling and seeping through the fabric of his right arm. It was a deep cut too and it might become a scar one day. Andy hissed holding his right arm trying to back away from the creature in front of him only for him to back into another one.

Andy yelped, feeling cold claw like hands grasp his shoulders. Andy tried to struggle against the creature as he watched horrified as the other pumpkin creatures started surrounding him , their single one eyes staring at the trembling apple who could only stare back as they all attacked him at once clawing at him.

All of them attacked. Sharp claws, grabbing ,tearing away fabric and skin. Andy could feel blood spill out of bus injuries crying out in pain as he tried to push them off of him only for one of them to grab the small apple and drag him back into the vicious attack. Andy tried crying out for help but it looked like no one would save him.

“Stop! Please! Stop!” Andy shrieked.

There was no response as they tore at him mercilessly Andy swore he could see some of them with with mouths full of sharp teeth glinting through the darkness causing the poor apple to whimper, they were all looking at him with such intense hunger.

Andy could only shutter as he didn’t want to know what they might do, their intent right now was far from friendly. Andy could only watch as they began approaching him their sharp teeth looking threatening and as the small apple tried scampering away to freedom he was grabbed again and held firmly in place.

N”n-no let go o-of me!” Andy cried.

The creatures did no such thing as they began opening their moth revealing sharp teeth causing Andy to shutter and without warning they chomped down on Andy’s shoulder blood gushed from the area as razor sharp teeth bit deep into his skin as blood seeped all over him. The poor apple’s screams of pain echoed around the pumpkin patch.

“No! N-no stop! Ahhhh!” Andy screamed.

The small apple now bleeding held his injured shoulder wincing at how badly it hurt.

Andy could only watch as the creatures as they all surrounded him and without warning attacked again. Tearing off clothes , biting, scratching leaving the apple farmer screening in horror as he was nothing but a bloody heap covered in scratches and bruises but now it felt like he was too weak to run from any of them.

He did attempt to struggle against one of them who proceeded to throw him over its shoulder, bringing him to a barn he had never seen before. Once he was sat in the floor and that's when he heard a different voice.

Oddly calm yet low like a growl.

“Close the door.”

Andy watched as the pumpkin creature made a gurgling noise before eventually obeying its master and doing what it was told, leaving the small apple in total darkness.
Andy helplessly looked around and stood up weakly holding his shoulder…well everything honestly hurt. The small farmer could feel that someone was here and the poor thing limped looking for a way out only to jump when he heard the same voice again.

“Hello?” Andy called out.

“Hello there, I see you met some of my creatures, they can be rough so apologies in advance.”

Andy could only stare at where the voice was coming from and seemed a little irritated by the care free almost nonchalant tone of voice. Those things tried to kill him.

Andy snapped out of his thoughts as he saw a figure moving in the darkness.

That’s when Andy spotted a pair of green eyes glowing vibrantly through the darkness as the voice spoke up again but this time it sounded distorted and disturbing to say the least.

“However I can’t say what I’m about to do will justify what you’ve gone through.”

The small apple gasped as he could feel something wrap around his waist and wrist and glanced down seeing pumpkin vines wrapped themselves tightly against him dragging the poor farmer towards the demonic voice. Andy struggled to break free from the vines but they seemed to have a vice like grip on him and the small apple yelped as he was pulled forward with such force causing him to crash to the floor being dragged and Andy could practically hear his own heart beat loudly through his chest out of sheer horror.

What was gonna happen to him? Who exactly was doing this and why did they sound so terrifying? Andy gasped breath caught in his throat as he felt a cold claw-like hand lifted him up and held him firmly in place. The same voice chuckled darkly causing the poor apple to shutter.

“Pl-please just stop. Please just let me-;”

Andy didn’t have time to finish that sentence as he could feel teeth , sharp teeth sink into the crook of his neck. The pain, the pain was immense Andy could feel blood gush out of the wound and spill down his neck and arm. The pain could only be described as hot iron shards repeatedly stabbing his flesh.

It hurt. It hurt far worse than what that pumpkin creature had done to him and the poor apple could only scream in sheer pain of what his mind and body were experiencing.

“Aaaaahhhhh!” Andy loudly shrieked .

He thrashed around helplessly as he could feel those god forsaken teeth sink further into his flesh making him scream louder causing him to thrash harder but those strong hands firmly kept him in place unknowingly lifting him in the air for better access as the poor boy kicked and thrashed wildly in the air.

It hurts! It hurts so much the pain is too much. Please someone make it stop.

It seemed as though Andy’s wish would be granted as those teeth were oh so painfully and slowly removed from the small farmers neck causing him to yelp in pain shaking violently as he could practically smell the blood on him.

Andy must’ve looked pathetic covered in his own tears and snot as well as his blood which had to be soaking through his clothes.

Andy whimpered, feeling a sharp tongue lapping up the blood wound, seemingly happy with what they were tasting.

“Sweet,” the dark voice purred in a low growl sending a shiver down the apple’s spine.

Andy wanted to ask what they found sweet but he kept quiet as he sucked in a breath and the small apple cried out as he was dropped onto the cold floor and groaned as his vision began blurring and fading.

Andy gasped, sitting up shaking. in a cold sweat, he looked around seeing that he was still in his room before sighing and rubbing his face before getting out of bed. That dream he had or rather a nightmare seemed to stick with him.

Everything about it seemed real, the sounds, the smells, even that horrific voice. Andy shuttered trying to brush off the awful feeling. He needed to get to work anyway.

Chapter 2: Games with friends

It’s been awhile but I’m happy to say I’ve finished chapter two and currently working on chapter three soon so please enjoy and don’t forget to leave a kudos and a comment down below.

Chapter Text

He must’ve overslept this morning, his friends must have been worried about him, it wasn’t like Andy to oversleep like that. Quickly the small apple threw on his favorite green turtle neck shirt and white overalls before hurrying to put on his red boots and walking outside where the sun was there to welcome him with its warm rays to start the morning like he usually did. Andy hummed intaking the fresh air outside the apple orchard always smelled nice.

With its sweet apple blossoms and other wild flowers growing around it was no wonder it was pleasant coming out to start the day. Some trees were littered with apple blossoms so the smell of flowers seemed to travel around the apple farm with its delightful welcoming scent. Andy walked around spotting his friends sitting at one of the picnic tables.

“Hey Felix, Melody, Margret, Claus.” The small farmer greeted with a cheery smile.

“Hi Andy.l his friends replied back seemingly happy to see the red fruit.

“So what are all of you up to?” He asked curiously.

“Oh? We’re just eating right now? Care for an apple?” Claus said smugly.

Andy stared at the clock confused and unsure of how to exactly respond to that but he smiled regardless trying to brush off what his friend said as Melody broke the silence.

“After this we should all play some games. Andy, do you wanna play some games?” She asked

“Of course I would.” The apple cheerfully replied back.

“Great we each have a bonus sticker collect all our b bonus stickers and you’ll win a prize.” Margaret explained.

“Oh wow! What’s the prize?” Andy asked, getting a little excited.

“That would run the surprise would it not?” Claus said, smirking.

Andy chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.

“Oh, yeah I guess your ri-“

“It’s the keys to your house.” Felix blurted out.

Andy turned to the fish stunned at what he said wanting to do a double take on what he said as he blinked. They…they took the keys to his house?…but why? The small farmer dug into his left pocket and sure enough his keys weren’t there.

“Y-you took the keys t-to my house?” He stuttered.

“Heh yeah we did.” Melody said not seeing how shocked the apple was.

“Don’t fret. This’ll be fun.” Margret said smiling.

Andy stared at his friends and could feel his stomach curl into a tight knot but the small apple forced a smile.

“O-okay if you guys say so.” Andy said nervously.

He watched as all his friends went their separate ways leaving the small apple farmer alone for a good minute. Now all that was left to do was decode where to go. Andy sighed he decided he’d go see Melody first. Andy began walking down the grassy path adorned with tall healthy apple trees he had panted what must’ve been a couple years ago. He still can’t remember when he planted them but seeing them always gave the apple a sense of pride seeing something he had grown from just a tiny sapling into such a healthy strong looking apple tree always made him smile,

Slowly Andy made his way into the grassy clearing where the crescent shaped moon was waiting for him with a warm welcoming smile.

“Hi Andy, do you wanna make some music with me?l Melody chimed.

“Of course, that sounds like fun.” He smiled.

“Great! Just let me grab that guitar and we can play.” Melody smiled.

Andy nodded, taking the guitar and studying it carefully. Something about this reminds Andy of something nostalgic but he can’t put his hand on it. Regardless he glanced at the young moon who began strumming a tune on her harp. Alright that seemed to be simple enough he just needed to copy the same tune.

“A,right now it’s your turn,” Melody chimed happily.

Andy smiled as he began strumming the same tune he heard minutes ago, the small farmer would be lying if he admitted he wasn’t enjoying playing music with Melody but he wouldn’t tell his friends that. He felt that would be so embarrassing telling them he’d enjoy playing guitar more than anything else. After he finished playing the song he looked up to see Melody’s face beaming with joy.

“Great job Andy, here’s a bonus sticker.” Melody grinned putting the sticker on the apple’s chin making Andy giggle softly.

“Thank you.” Andy grinned.

“After that performance you deserve it, you’re really good with the guitar.” Melody gushed.

Andy chuckled, blushing faintly from the compliment as it was time for him to go and retrieve another bonus sticker waving goodbye to his friend and walking out of the clearing.

The small farmer walked out of the clearing and towards his beloved apple farm when he noticed that Margret was on the ground trying to pick up the fruit she must’ve fallen with cherries, pears and apples as well as baskets laying haphazardly on the ground.

“Margret? What happened?” Andy asked.

The mole glanced up at the farmer and sheepishly looked away.

“Oh hi Andy, I was just putting some of the fruit in these baskets but I must’ve accidentally tripped dropping them all. Could ya help me pick them up? I’ll give ya a bonus sticker for it.” She said,

Andy smiled and nodded. “Sure Margret. I’ll help you.”

The mole smiled back at the small apple as she seemed more than thankful for his help.

“Thanks Andy I really appreciate it.” Margret replied.

“You’re welcome.” Andy smiled, beginning to pick up some of the fruit off the ground.

Andy carefully placed the dropped fruit into separate baskets and despite the fact that he had an apple farm he grew other fruits like cherries and pears as well as a small array of other fruits too but his farm mainly grew apples. Once the fruit had been picked up and put into their respectful baskets Margret smiled.

“Thanks Andy, here’s a bonus sticker for your hard work.” The mole said, handing Andy the blue sticker.

Andy happily took the sticker, putting it on the trap of his white overalls and smiling proudly. The small apple waved goodbye making his way over to the dock where he saw Felix go. Andy carefully made his way towards his friend who sat on the dock. The wood of the dock creaked underneath the small apple’s feet catching Fekix’s attention who turned to glance at him with a calm smile.

“Oh hey man, you wanna play a fishing game.”

“Sure sounds like fun.” Andy chimed

“Awesome, just grab a fishing pole and we can play.” He said.

Andy nodded as sphe stood there on the dock hearing it creak underneath his feet he stared at the water of the lake and seemed uneasy casting his fishing line out into the deep water being mindful to stay quiet and not scare any fish away.

There was a brief moment of silence and albeit it was pleasant however Andy still felt uneasy standing on the dock staring into the deep depths of the lake, he stared into the deep dark blue waters and couldn’t help but shiver at how cold and deep the water must be not only that but the more he stated at the water the more his anxiety seemed to grow.
….
Andy couldn’t swim.

He never told his friends he couldn’t swim. He felt a little embarrassed and felt that his friends might actually poke fun at him for it. So the small apple just didn’t step foot in the water or let alone near the dock…until now that is.

“Hey man you okay?” Felix asked.

Andy jumped as he tried hiding his anxiety

“H-huh? Oh, I’m fine.” He said sheepishly.

Felix shrugged.

“If you say so.”

After some time Andybgasoed feeling his fishing pole being tugged.

“Felix I think I caught something.” Andy said getting a little excited.

“Really? Reel it in man.” Fe,is said grinning.

Andy smiled nodding as he began reeling in his fishing line as he managed to pull a rather big fish out of the lake.

“Awesome! You caught a fish!” Felix said happily.

Andy smiled happy he could make his friend happy but when he glanced down at his friend his smiled almost immediately went away as he seemed a little unsettled by the fish and its appearance. The fish had orange gold scales and rather odd yet large dark black eyes. Disturbingly enough those large round eyes seemed to be far too dilated to even belong to a fish such as this one.

Something wasn’t right with this fish. However Felix didn’t pay it any mind. As he seemed more than pleased with Andy and catching a fish,

“ Aw man, just wait until we can cook and eat it.” He grinned excitedly.

Andy nervously shifted in the dock and smiled weakly not want to dampen his friend’s mood.

“Y-yeah.” He stuttered.

To be fair And wasn’t so sure he wanted to eat this fish, everything about it made his soft skin crawl and his stomach twist into painful knots.

“Here’s a bonus sticker for your catch.” Felix said.

Andy took the sticker from the small fish kindly thanking him before making his way into the soft green grass which seemed to ease the apple as he was back in the ground soothing his anxiety of the water. The young apple farmer walked over to his friend Claus who seemed to be under a tree relaxing and admiring the scenery around him. Claus despite being a sophisticated clock was a rather kind and patient friend to the small farmer much to Andy’s delight.

“Oh Andy there you are.” Claus smiled.

“Hiya Claus.” Andy cheerfully replied.

“I’m assuming you're wondering what kind of game we will be playing.” Claus said.

Andy nodded,

“Well what about chess?” The clock offered.

Andy tilted his head, his face riddled with confusion.

“But I don’t know how to play chess.” He said.

Claus blinked and hummed in thought he might wanna try simplifying things.

“Oh, we'll, why don’t we play a game of eye spy then.” He said being patient with his friend.

“That sounds like a fun game! I’d love to.” Andy grinned happily.

Claus chuckled, finding Andy to be charming sometimes.

“Wonderful, let’s play.” He said moving a bit slowing his friend to sit with him under the apple tree.

Eye spy such a simple yet fun game where you try and guess what the other person was seeing.

Claus cleared his threat as he spoke uo starting the game.

“I spy something red.” He said calmly.

Andy hummed in though as he looked around and pointed to one of the apples tangling in the branch.

“Correct,’ the clock said.

“I spy something soft.” He replied.

“Is it the grass?” Andy asked.

Claus shook his head.

Andy stayed quiet thinking.

“Is it the clouds?”

“No, try again.” The clock encouraged.

Andy thought about this one, what was soft? If it wasn’t the grass which was soft or a cloud then what could it possibly be?
Andy flushed a light red and pointed at himself causing Ckaus to lightly poke his cheek nodding.

“Yep it’s you. To be frank I’m astonished that an apple like you is so soft and squishy,” Claus teased.

“Claaaauss.” Andy whined flushing a deep red being easily flustered,

“Alright alright I’ll stop teasing you. I spy something…dangerous.” Claus said.

Dangerous? What could be possibly dangerous? Knives maybe? No that was silly knives wouldn’t be out here they would most likely be stored away in his home so what could Claus be talking- ; Green orbs stared at what his friend must’ve been staring at…

His axe.

His axe was normally used for chopping down any old dead, possibly disease ridden apple trees. Yet seeing his axe rested against one of those trees was making Andy feel a little uneasy. How could he leave something like his axe there, someone could have gotten hurt. He should really put that away in his shed.

“I-is it my axe?” Andy asked nervously.

“Right you are, honestly Andy you must be more careful. Someone could have gotten seriously hurt..” Claus lightly scolded his friend.

Andy looked down nodding but shamefully looked away.

“R-right but first I need to get my keys.” He said.

Claus carefully got up dusting anything off his pristine suit and smiled.

“Well let’s go see where Felix put them shall we.” Claus said as he handed Andy his bonus sticker before offering the apple his hand.

Andy stared up at the clock blushing faintly as he took his hand standing up and stumbling a little over his one two feet but followed the clock holding his hand. Claus led him back to the others whom all stood in front of an old looking barn. It’s once red paint now chipping away.

Andy was mostly confused though and a little bit scared this barn was giving him some not good vibes.

“So where are my keys?” He asked nervously.

“Just in that barn,” Claus said calmly.

The small apple turned to stare at the old looking barn and swallowed hard he was getting a little bit worried and scared just by looking at this barn.

“Are you sure my keys are-“

“Yes, I did see Felix toss them in there.” Claus said, assuring the apple that his belongings were in that barn.

Andy looked a bit worried as he seemed a bit hesitant in going inside the barn as if he was getting an unpleasant feeling about this. The small farmer jumped seeing Margret open one of the barn doors with an equally unpleasant low creaking sound coming from it, making Andy inwardly cringe. That sound alone sounded like something straight out of a horror movie.

Andy carefully poked his head in and upon doing so the small apple was greeted with nothing but darkness, sheer total darkness. It was terribly unnerving to witness. Even with the barn door open and it being daylight out it seemed no light could penetrate the darkness within the barn.

What kind of barn was this? Andy hadn’t seen a barn like this before or any that he could possibly recall for that matter; this was the first time he had ever seen the barn. The small farmer was so wrapped up in his own thoughts he hadn’t even noticed that Margret had gently pushed him inside the barn and the poor apple hadn’t taken note of it until it was too late. He was fully inside the entrance of the barn.

Andy turned to the kole shocked and scared but Margret shrugged smiling as though she hadn’t done anything wrong. To her this must’ve been some rickety old barn nothing more but to Andy this barn gave him the creeps and he wanted nothing to do with it.

“Go on Andy go find your keys.” Melody chimed trying to sound optimistic.

Andy looked into the dark and could feel dread creeping up along his spine.

“G-guys, how exactly am I supposed to find my keys? It’s way to-“ Andy paused and quickly turned when he heard the same creaking sound when the barn doors were first opened and that’s when he saw that one of his friend we’re closing the barn doors.

Andy’s eyes widened in fear.

“H-hey! Don’t close the door!” Andy shouted, scared.

It was a,ready too late the barn door was fully closing consuming everything in total darkness. The small apple crashed into the door not wanting to stay in this creepy barn, crying out to his friends to open the door. If there was one thing Andy hated more it was the dark. He never liked being out past sunset or going out at night either.

“G-guys! Please! Open th-the door!” Andy begged.

When he got no response Andy was shocked to find that his friends must’ve taken off leaving him here alone. Andy could feel tears burn at his eyes as he hiccuped sniffling as he backed away from the barn door crying softly into his hands. Why? Why would they do something like this? This wasn’t funny anymore, Andy wanted to go home.

After a minute of trying to calm himself down the small farmer shakily stood up sucking in a deep breath and would simply have to find his keys in the dark. Andy whined as he soon found himself on his hands and knees blindly looking for his house keys.

Andy hated this. He hated how dark this place was and every noise made him feel paranoid and on edge., oh stars, why was he even in here? This place was so creepy not only that but Andy could very possibly be trespassing on someone’s property, but then again he never saw anyone here before or coming in and out of the barn. Come to think of it Andy has never seen this barn here before at all.

Andy continued moving despite being unable to see his hands. The small apple yelped, feeling his foot hit something that caused the small apple to trip over it and crash onto the cold floor below him with a pained squeak. That’s when Andy heard something that sounded like heavy footsteps.

Andy froze, unsure if it was his mind playing tricks on him, at least that’s what Andy hoped but that’s when Andy heard it again making the small fruit freeze up in fear. He knew what he heard there was no doubt despite Andy wanting it to not be true at all. The small apple shuttered, it sounded whoever was walking knew there’d way around this barn in complete darkness and that alone scared the poor farmer who hurried and tried desperately to look for his keys.

If this person could easily walk around in void like darkness then that had to mean this person could see in the dark. Andy didn’t know which was scarier, the darkness itself or the fact that someone could easily see him in the dark. Andy hurried trying frantically to look for his keys bumping into what must’ve been stars and other objects in his way, that’s when he spotted something in the distance of the barn.

It was faint but glowing and that’s when the small apple made out that it was a lantern sitting in the middle of the barn and like a moth entranced by a flame of light Andy scrambled over to it grabbing it like it was his life line.
The small apple began turning the knob of the lantern to enhance the brightness of the flame and was thankful there was still some oil felt in there. Andy breathed a sigh of relief he finally had light which could help him locate his keys better.

Carefully the small apple began looking around getting tiny pangs of anxiety whenever the lantern would flicker every now and then but it was better than nothing. Andy continued looking searching for his keys when his green eyes spotted something glinting in the light of the lantern and the small farmer gasped noticing the cute keychain.

There it was his keys! He finally found them! Andy quickly ran over to them desperate to get out of his barn and go home but the small fruit yelped as he crashed into something hard causing the poor thing to fall back dropping the lantern which dimmed dramatically surrounding the poor apple in only a sliver of light. Andy gasped frightened as he clumsily grabbed the lantern trying to retrieve it so that he wouldn’t be consumed by the darkness and that’s when he felt himself being lifted up by the traps of his overalls as if he weighed like a feather causing the poor apple to scream in sheer horror.

“Aaahh!” Andy screamed as he began to thrash helplessly in the air.

“Well would you lookie here I didn’t think I’d see anyone in my barn today,” a deep raspy oddly soothing voice spoke out.

Andy whimpered as he was helplessly dangled in the air. He didn’t like being held like this. He got an amused chuckle from whoever held him.

“Easy there little fella didn’t mean to scare ya.” The voice said grabbing the lantern and holding it up slowing the apple to get a good look at the person.

Andy blinked, shaking a little as he was face to face with the figure who easily held him like he weighed nothing. A tall pumpkin who looked to easily tower over the small apple. This pumpkin had eerily green eyes that seemed to almost glow in the dark and the small farmer had to look away a little unnerved by them.

The pumpkin simply stared at the small farmer and surpassingly enough this pumpkin wasn’t angry with Andy entering his barn then again Andy hadn’t a clue anyone lived here.

“Wh-who are you?” Andy stuttered.

The pumpkin stared at him grinning and showing off an array of sharp teeth as he smiled which glinted faintly under the lantern’s dim light. Andy shuttered again glancing away from those razor sharp teeth that looked able to easily pierce through his skin.

“I’m Peter the pumpkin, nice to meet ya.” The friendly pumpkin replied,

Andy blinked and shifted nervously before asking.

“W-wait how long h-have you been in here?” He asked a little concerned.

“That doesn’t matter.” Peter replied calmly.

Andy couldn’t help but feel a little unsettled by that response and by how oddly cheery Peter was. Andy fumbled with his hands nervously before speaking up again.

“U-Um could you please p-put me down.” Andy asked softly.

“Oh, sure.” The pumpkin chimed still with that cheery tone as he carefully set the apple down on his feet.

Andy at last could breathe a sigh of relief but only for a moment, when he glanced up he saw how tall Peter truly was making Andy’s relief leave him as soon as it came. Peter very much easily towered over him making the poor apple farmer feel even smaller than the original was. Andy glanced up biting his lip trying to find something to say however Peter beat him to it.

“Any reason in particular why your in my barn?” He asked.

Andy swallowed hard as he spoke.

“I-I lost something and came i-in to look for them.” Andy stuttered.

Peter stared still smiling and still unnerving Andy further

“That so?” The pumpkin asked.

Andy nodded.

“Well you wouldn’t be looking for this now would ya?” Peter asked dangling said keys in front of Andy and Andy knew those were his keys from the plenty of cute keychains he put on them.

“M-my keys!” Andy cried out

The small apple tried to reach out and take his keys only for the pumpkin to pull them back from his reach, Andy tried a second time only for the same thing to happen again it had gotten to a point where Andy has to physically jump in attempt to retrieve his keys but the poor apple was far too short he could barely touch one of the many keychains on his keys.

Andy could feel his own face heat up in embarrassment.

“Please, please give me my keys.” Andy begged.

Peter smiled seemingly unfazed as he stared at Andy who looked away feeling a shiver down his spine.

“My, my. You're in quite the rush aren’t you sugar. There’s a thing called knocking and by the looks of it it seems you momma didn’t teach you that hard enough.” The pumpkin smirked.

Andy flushed red at the sugar comment but the small farmer did feel bad for literally breaking and entering this pumpkin’s home.

“Y'know I should call the police on ya for breaking and entering my home.” He said.

Andy’s eyes widened in horror.

“No please, I-I didn’t know a-anyone lived here!” Andy said, trying to explain himself.

“Or I could forgive ya in exchange for something.” Peter suggested.

Andy shifted nervously. “Wh-what do you want?”

“Let’s play a game.” Peter said showing off his sharp teeth again.

Andy swallowed hard.

“What kind of game?”

“Tag.” said the pumpkin.

Andy blinked again, slightly confused.

“H-huh!”

“It’s simple we play a game of tag and if you win I’ll give you your keys back .” Peter explained.

And blinked wondering what he was hearing was true or not as he glanced up at the pumpkin and immediately looked away when he saw him smile.

“O-okay.” Andy accepted.

Peter grinned in delight; he seemed happy that the small apple accepted to play his game.

“Great, just this way to the haystack maze.” The pumpkin said. .
