He came up behind her, a big smile on his face, and hugged her from behind, wrapping his arms around her waist. “You smell nice,” Zane murmured into her hair after bending over to bury his face into the crook of her neck. Her hair was soft, having just been washed last night, and he breathed in the smell of her lavender conditioner.
It was a Saturday morning and both of them had the day off. This meant they could take their time.
“Good morning to you too,” Jo smiled, leaning her head on his. He looked up, resting his chin on her shoulder and looking at her through the mirror. “Someone got up before me and left me to wake up all by myself,” He jokingly complained, before spinning her around to face him. On instinct, her arms came to wrap around his neck and his hands rested back on her waist as he looked down at her. She played with the little hairs on the back of his neck and tilted her head, “Well I think that person was planning on getting up to make you breakfast but it seems you’re a light sleeper aren’t you?”
“Only when you’re not there JoJo,” he smirked, reaching up to grab one of her hands and leading her back to the room where he dragged her onto the bed and she let herself be pulled onto his lap. One arm came to wrap around her waist to steady her, and the other came up to cup her cheek and pull her in for a kiss. She hummed happily as their lips met, his soft lips brushing against hers, making her smile into the kiss.
“Come back to bed,” Zane whispered against her lips. Jo pulled back and looked into his dark blue eyes while he rubbed his thumb softly over her cheek, “We have the day off. Let’s enjoy it.” He kissed her quickly again after she rolled her eyes at him, “It’s been a busy week and you look exhausted.”
She smiled after a moment and slowly got up, causing Zane to reach for her, thinking she wasn’t listening to him. But then she just walked around the bed and climbed in on her side, patting the empty space next to her.
He smiled and climbed in next to her, laying on his back so she could rest her head on his chest and his fingers fidgeted with the ends of her hair. “I love you.” He whispered, kissing the crown of her head. But she was already asleep. “Called it.” He whispered to himself, before drifting off to sleep not long after.
