Oh How the Children Fall

Chapter 1: Pertinacious

Tell me child of the lakes,
With a storm in your heart
And lightning in your veins
When did they forget you feel pain?

Of a mother’s anger and a father’s disinterest
Fights a constant everyday thing
Shouts echoing inside your brain
Did they forget you could hear everything?

Oh child of a destroyed home
Burned to the ground by a sun crowned prince
Losing everything to the melting hand
Who ever thought you could reclaim your land?

Of a brother with a bright laugh and a sister with a calming smile
Pillars from which your world was built
Steady and strong in face of danger
How could you ever have thought you would lose them?

Oh how the years have gone past
The child is now a man raising his sister’s son
Leadership resting heavy on his brow
What has he become?
