Work Text:
Kaede always thought her wife was ethereal. But, for the past week, she's caught herself physically struggling to look away from her partner.
Sometimes Maki would snap her out of her stupor. Other times Maki would leave her be. This would lead to events such as holding up traffic (Her ruby eyes looked extra pretty in the rear-view mirror) mirror shopping carts, holding up lines at the grocery store (Can they blame her?! Maki's biceps are right there!) or recently when she hung out with Miu and she ended up staring at her phone lock-screen for three minutes straight (of course it was a picture of Maki sleeping) Miu hasn't let her live this down, and never will.
Heck, It was happening right now!
They were supposed to be watchin. Her eyes couldn't help but rest on her favorite person.
Maki, Maki, Maki.
Suddenly, her wife (her wife!) grabbed the tv remote from the coffee table, and pressed the off button. The screen cuts to black.
"Why did you turn it off? You were enjoying it."
Maki placed the remote back on the table. "Yeah, I was. You weren't even watching."
Kaede blinked twice, sitting up on the couch. Based on her observations, Maki seemed to like the movie. Well, in her own Maki way. And yet she barely glanced at the screen.
"I-I'm sorry! If you turn the TV back, I promise I'll pay attention-"
Maki let out a sigh. "It's fine, you can't help being an idiot. She then wormed her way into Kaede's lap, straddling her. Gentle hands immediately wrapped around her waist.
"Miu told me what happened the other day." Kaede rolled her eyes, of course she did, making her ignorant to the split second Maki's lips curled into a smirk.
The corner of Maki's mouth twitched at the action. "I didn't believe her at first. I mean, you're not that stupid." Kaede pouted at the statement
"But you've spent the past thirty minutes… staring at me." Crimson eyes started into lavender ones. "Are you okay?"
"You're really hot!" Kaede exclaimed. This led to Maki's body slightly jolting.
"Sorry. I'm fine. There is nothing wrong with me. It's… you. I love you Maki. And some days I guess I'm more obvious about it" Kaede finished her proclamation
Maki let out a light exhale. "You're too much sometimes." Despite her statement, Maki leaned in for a kiss which Kaede gladly reciprocated.
Things were getting heated until Maki pulled away, much to Kaede's dismay.
"And you're too hot" The pianist let out a petulant whine. "Come back!"
Maki did the opposite, climbing off her lap, and began walking to their bedroom.
"Follow me, there's not enough space there."
Kaede furrowed her eyebrows. Why would they need….
Oh.
Stumbling off the couch, Kaede quickly followed her. Maki simply rolled her eyes before pulling her into the room.
