Chapter 1: When Dreams Turn to Dust

Chapter Text

"STAY BACK! YOU ARE A VILLAIN! YOU HEAR ME?! A VILLAIN! STAY AWAY YOU FREAK!!!"

It all happened so fast... The five year old Izumi was playing on the playground, alone of course. Being a quirkless loser nobody wanted to play with her. She was daydreaming about heroes and was writting in her notebook but then she heard her 'friend' Kacchan bullying another quirkless boy. She stepped in, but it all went wrong. Kacchan and his friends started to hurt and beat her. In an attempt to protect herself she grabbed onto Kacchan's shoulder, then she heard his pained shriek as part of his shoulder disintegrated and turned to dust... Kacchan screamed, the other bullies screamed, the other kids screamed, parents screamed and Izumi stared in horrified silence. Izumi preffered to be silent... Silence bored the bullies and crying endertained them. After a year of being asumed quirkless her quirk finally manifested.

Things... Changed after she was diagnosed quirkless... Teasing turned into bullying. Suddenly she was excluded from... Everything, teachers treated her like glass. She tried to think positively but... It was difficult.

"K-Kacchan i'm s-sorry i didn't m-mean." She was caught off by an explosion in her face. She fell to the ground and started crying in pain.

"You're a villain!" Few tears of pain escaped Katsuki's eyes as he clutched his shoulder that suffered severe lacerations. Soon the teacher that was there with them called an ambulance and the police. Soon the police was on the scene. Izumi was scared. The teacher all terrified pointed at Izumi. Izumi was still scared and started to have a panic attack. She began scratching at her neck until it bled. She couldn't breath... She touched a tree for support but in a matter of moments the tree decayed and turned to dust. Izumi's breathing became faster and uneven. The next thing she felt was being hit on the head and a pair of suppressive handcuffs on her hands. One of the policeman wrapped a black cloth around her eyes which seemed to somewhat calm her down.

Eraserhead's Pov:

When he was called to apprehend a villain with a powerful and destructive quirk he certainly didn't expect a child in handcuffs being held down by three police officers.

"Eraserhead! Finally you're here!" One of the police officers said.

"What is this? Why is the child handcuffed? I was called here to apprehend a villain." Eraserhead is still pretty much a rookie in heroics but already other more experienced heroes put his quirk to good use. The police officer pointed at the child.

"This kid has a really destructive disintegration quirk that just manifested... Your quirk is the best for handling this." Aizawa's eyes widened. He was called here because of THAT?! They said he needs to apprehend a villain, did the mean this... This child?

"Why does she have handcuffs?" He asked.

"Apparently her quirk activates when she touches something with 5 digits, so we put suppresion handcuffs on her." Aizawa frowned.

"5 digit activation. Why didn't you just ductape one finger on each hand then instead of cuffing her like she's some kind of criminal?!" Before the police officer could answer Aizawa spoke again.

"More importantly, why did you call me here to apprehend a villain, all I can see is a scared child." The police officer stood his ground.

"C'mon Eraserhead. It's obvious that with a quirk like that she's going to become one." Aizawa grit his teeth, quirk discrimination... It was everywhere, quirkless people treated horibly and those with villainous quirks even worse. What many didn't realize was that a lot of villains became villains BECAUSE OF quirk discrimination. It really annoyed him... Before he could speak the scared teacher yelled.

"OH MY GOD APPREHEND THAT VILLAIN FINALLY!" She yelled at the child. Eraserhead's eyes glowed red as he said.

"Get out." His voice was full of venom.

"What?" The teacher asked, confused.

"GET THE FUCK OUT!" The teacher scoffed and walked away.

"Take those handcuffs off her." Aizawa commanded, the police officer looked at him in disbelief.

"Are you serious?!" Eraserhead's hateful glare was enough to answer his own question. The police officer got closer and with shaky hands took off the handcuffs and quickly got away. Aizawa took a duct tape and got closer.

"Hi kid..." He said, the little girl looked up at him, he noticed that her green eyes were slowly turning red and some of her hair became bleach white, must be a side effect of her quirk.

"Can i touch you? I'll just duck tape your pinkies to make sure you don't accidentally destroy anything." The girl answere with the slightest nod. After carefully duct taping her pinkies the ambulance took her to a quirkologist while he called her mother.

Decay

That's the name doctor Tsubasa gave her quirk... The ability to disintigrate whatever she touches with all five of her fingers, whether the target is organic or inorganic doesn't matter. Inko looked next to her at her daughter with worried expression. She was sitting on the chair with her knees pulled close to her chest, her messy hair covering most of her face. Only now did she notice some of Izumi's hair turning bleached white. After some testing they determined that it was her quirk changing her appearance. The decay affecting the pigment in her hair, skin and eyes. The same day Inko got her daughter special pair of gloves that covered only the pinky and the ring finger, to ensure she doesn't accidentally decay anything.

The same day Inko got her daughter special pair of gloves that covered only the pinky and the ring finger, to ensure she doesn't accidentally decay anything

Few days later:

Izumi was excused from school for a week to cope with what had just happened, Bakugo was fortunately alright. His shoulder suffered lacerations but he should recover in a couple of weeks.

It's late at night, Inko wakes up to some noise in her daughter's room. Worried Inko slowly opens the door to her daughter's room and sees Izumi watching an All Might video of him saving over 1000 citizens.

"Izumi?" Inko said with a worried tone. Izumi didn't move and just continued to stare at the monitor. Her hair messy and untreated, being all over the place. Most of her hair turned bleach white with few strings of almost-bleached green. Over the past few days most of her hair turned bleach white, her skin also got sickly pale and her eyes changed eye color too. No longer were they the shinning green, now they were blood red. Izumi had her knees pulled to her chest as she continued to watch the video. Over the past few days this has become something of a habit. Hugging her legs while keeping her hands on her knees as if to not accidentally hurt anyone. She barely ate, rarely spoke, if at all and often spend hours just staring at a wall. Inko walked closer and carefully placed her hand on Izumi's shoulder. Since the incident, Izumi didn't let anyone touch her. The only time she allowed someone to touch her was when doctor Tsubasa took her blood for testing. Izumi jerked as she felt her mother's touch on her shoulder. She started shaking a bit but Inko didn't take her hand off. After few seconds Izumi began crying again.

"W-why does everyone hate me?" Izumi then jumped at Inko and hugged her, no longer able to withstand the pain alone. Inko started crying too and hugged back.

"I don't hate you Izumi." Inko said and she felt Izumi hug her tighter.

"I h-hurt Kacchan... He c-called me a v-villain. E-everyone was t-terrified of m-me... I d-don't want to be a v-villain!" Izumi yelled in agony and hugged Inko tighter than she had ever before.

"You're not a villain Izumi, you'll always be my hero, don't you ever forget that."
